For Suletta to be able to see Miorine again, she has to be the holder. This is symbolic, but Guel stands in her way so that Suletta can overcome her past faltering and use her own skill to win the right to be Miorine's groom again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miorine has seen better days to put it mildly, and is wracked with guilt over what she has done; not only her belief that she could manage Prospera, but also what she did to Suletta as well. And Suletta for her part is able to reflect on her own past mistakes. She's able to acknowledge fully what she did at Plant Quetta and has finally found the strength to move beyond that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because of everything that has happened, Miorine is frightened of making any more mistakes. Suletta is able to reassure her by pointing to the two of them; none of that is a mistake. Despite how both of them have faltered, the bonds they've forged were not a mistake at all.. Miorine then finds the strength to lean on Suletta, asking her to be her strength when it is time for her to face what happened on Earth.

And although Suletta is ready to open the door and help drag Miorine out, Miorine finds the strength to open the door herself. She manages to pull herself out of there, but also realizes that she can lean on Suletta. This is a true reversal of roles; while previously Miorine was the one who Suletta was leaning on for strength, now Miorine is leaning on Suletta for strength. Each of them have found a different sort of strength than they had before, and they are better for it.

While I have my own thoughts on the design from a personal taste perspective, I really do love the new Aerial design from a thematic perspective. Such a smart decision.
G-witch does a clever thing with it’s Mobile Suit designs where the actual military use suits are a lot more plain than the ones we’ve been seeing in the sanitized environment of duels where there’s no lives on the line. You compare Guel’s Dilanza and the military use Dilanza Sol we saw suppressing protestors and you know immediately which one is the mass produced military hardware.
Tumblr media
No ornate fancy antenna, no superfluous wings out the back, no giant plume or vibrant colors. It’s a crude bulky war machine and I love it.
You can see this with a number of designs, like the Demi-Trainers vs the Demi-Garrison or the Zowort vs the Zowort Heavy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the Witches from Earth’s gundams, while distinct, are still a much more plain design than the flashier Aerial or Guel’s Dilanza or Michealis or Phract.
Which brings us back to Aerial, comparing the new designs side-by-side like the previous ones, it’s immediately obvious what they’re trying to convey with Aerial Rebuild
Tumblr media
It follows the exact logic we’ve seen of Duel suits vs Military suits, much more muted colors, heavier armaments, bulkier design, etc etc, it’s even called to attention by Gundam Ur’s pilot Sophie who says Aerial has a scary face now. Aerial has a very unique design among Gundams and Aerial Rebuild is much more in line with conventional Gundam design.
It’s a wonderful visual change to go along with Suletta’s newfound willingness to turn a man into tomato paste.

Finished G-Witch. Ugh. Suletta knew the whole time what she was. Of course. No wonder she's a people pleaser with poor self esteem. Prospera really did a number on her.
Wish we got more SuleMio from Bandai "open to interpretation" Namco, but oh well. They have a bright future and I'm happy for them. Eri too.
At first, I thought I liked Suletta because I saw a bit of myself in her, but thinking on it more, I think it's more accurate to say that she's the kind of person I hope I can be one day.
New favorite anime. 4.5/5.

Miorine telling suletta to send her emails three times a day is inevitably asking for the following scenario:
Miorine: its been ten minutes why hasn’t she answered my email already im getting worried
Suletta, shaking and on the verge of tears: how do you spell gorgeous

"average gundam character has 3 character developments a season” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person has zero character developments per season. Jeturk Guel, who has character development moments every other episode, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Frankly, Suletta is way, wayyy more Anthy than Miorine. Suletta is a living weapon who has been used to bring about the apocalypse. She's a doormat loyal to anyone who shows her affection. She's manipulated completely by an older family member. And just like Mio, Suletta (and her weapon, Aerial) are repeatedly desired prize in the duels. And I mean, the witch terminology, though obviously it means different things.
Mio is much more Utena than Suletta is, to be honest, but just placed in a similar situation to Anthy. Mio is brash, hard headed, and stubborn, and she's the one who is desperate to remove Suletta from the situation she's found herself in. It's Miorine who is imagining herself as a knight protecting Suletta without ever asking her what it is she wants or why, and inadvertently ends up hurting her.

Finally Suletta and Miorine have some time alone, and Suletta is able to find the courage to ask Miorine about what happened at the plant. Miorine is then able to tell Suletta what she has been holding in all this time; that she is thankful for her saving her and her father's lives, despite the brutal methods Suletta used.

However, when Suletta mentions Lady Prospera telling her that Miorine would understand eventually, that changes the mood completely. Miorine is already suspicious of Prospera's manipulation of Suletta, and this is only further enhanced when it becomes clear that Suletta just does not understand what is wrong about her being able to smile about having smashed someone to death. It's a chilling scene as what begins as a tender reunion turns to Miorine's dread at realizing something is deeply off with Suletta's values and what Prospera has been saying to her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As this unease grows, Miorine has to find out just how far gone Suletta is when it comes to her mom. She starts out by asking probing questions, and then brings up Suletta's sincere dream to open a school back on Mercury. What she learns from that question is deeply unsettling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there's one final thing she needs to know. She knows Suletta would give up on her dreams, but what about her core values, the values that the two of them share about GUND-ARM being about saving people and not killing them? Would Suletta give that up? With a pause and a smile, yes, she would. And that is a heartbreaking moment for Miorine, and for the audience.
