I think Witch from Mercury's smartest narrative choice is a. putting the obligatory "but we're both GIRLS" moment in, like, episode two, and b. being super passive aggressive about it.

Sophie is so down bad for Suletta it’s kind of hilarious

For Suletta to be able to see Miorine again, she has to be the holder. This is symbolic, but Guel stands in her way so that Suletta can overcome her past faltering and use her own skill to win the right to be Miorine's groom again.

Miorine has seen better days to put it mildly, and is wracked with guilt over what she has done; not only her belief that she could manage Prospera, but also what she did to Suletta as well. And Suletta for her part is able to reflect on her own past mistakes. She's able to acknowledge fully what she did at Plant Quetta and has finally found the strength to move beyond that.

Because of everything that has happened, Miorine is frightened of making any more mistakes. Suletta is able to reassure her by pointing to the two of them; none of that is a mistake. Despite how both of them have faltered, the bonds they've forged were not a mistake at all.. Miorine then finds the strength to lean on Suletta, asking her to be her strength when it is time for her to face what happened on Earth.

And although Suletta is ready to open the door and help drag Miorine out, Miorine finds the strength to open the door herself. She manages to pull herself out of there, but also realizes that she can lean on Suletta. This is a true reversal of roles; while previously Miorine was the one who Suletta was leaning on for strength, now Miorine is leaning on Suletta for strength. Each of them have found a different sort of strength than they had before, and they are better for it.

seriously tho i'm sure other people have already said this but given gay marriage isn't even legal in japan yet it's genuinely a pretty big deal for a mainline show in a franchise as big as gundam to end with its two female leads openly married

Suletta getting caught depression eating ham straight out of a Tupperware container is possibly the most relatable thing an already incredibly relatable protagonist has done

My head is exploding right now, Suletta still instinctively trusts Miorine.

Like yes, Eri/Aerial are what make Suletta realize that it’s Prospera behind everything, but she doesn’t even, for one second, entertain the idea that Miorine is responsible for what’s going on on Earth.

Chuchu is verbally questioning what Miorine is doing but not Suletta. The news is making it looks like it’s all Mio’s fault, but Suletta is putting the pieces together and even though Suletta was just hurt by Miorine, Suletta knows Miorine would never willingly start conflict. She might, in the back of her mind, be thinking ‘maybe Miorine also was doing all she could do, even if it wasn’t the best way.’

The possibilities of miorine and eri bickering about modern tech stuff like those smart speakers (though i guess anything really lol) is incredibly entertaining to me like:

Eri: why are you talking about getting an alexa, I literally have access to your music libraries you can just ask me to play music

Miorine: alright then can you put on some music

Eri: no

Given how inconsistent the show has historically been about the characters' relative scales, I have to imagine that the hand-holding shot involved someone looming over the animators' shoulder like it's very important that you clearly emphasise how much larger Suletta's hands are than Miorine's; this is essential for reasons.
