Spoiler Warning [If that's not obvious] Tw: Slight NSFW
[As if anyone actually knows who he is 🙄]
He loves to stalk watch you
Watching you and learning about you is how he became so good at finding people's secrets
Granted he had never actually talked to you, he knew you would be perfect together
During Freshman year, Alex finally came over to you and introduced you to the group
It ultimately brought you all together
Zach puts on this façade around you and makes himself everything you want
If you don't smoke, he'd peer pressure you into it, to make you more vulnerable
Speaking of peer pressure, it's not him that pushes you into it [You don't want to be left out]
He can be so sweet though, so you ignore the red flags
He sneaks into your house and you think he's unnaturally good at breaking into your room [Little did you know, he did it before]
He's also really good at hiding from your parents
He knows everything about you and I mean everything
Every secret, every thought, every memory, he knows it all
Sometimes you feel like you're being watched, but you think it's just paranoia
He loves having his hands on you
Touching you, feeling you
He's significantly taller than you and he uses this to his advantage to trap you
He loves leaving marks all over you, gives him an ego boost
He loves being between your legs and being squished by your thighs
^ That's where his head is a lot
You practically own the front seat in his car, even if you would rather sit in the back
He wants to be able to look over and see you
If someone does get in the front and you get in the back, Zach is quick confront them and you'll switch
^ "Oh, well I don't mind-"
^ "I do. Move seats"
He's always around you. You can't usually find him without you being near
His dad doesn't like you, which just makes Zach want to be around you more
Quite a few of their fights revolve around you
He makes sure his father knows you're there when you guys are together
^ Though his father isn't around much, so not much to worry about

📚 - Do you have any mystery book recommendations? Specifically murder mystery? Preferably female protagonist? It's okay if they're male though 🤗 (just because there aren't many good ones with female leads).
Tumblr media
This request turned out to be a bit of a problem, because it turns out I don't really read mysteries. So instead, I gathered book that are murder mystery adjacent enough that I hope you might like them.
The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw is a horror YA
It is set in a small coastal town in Oregon where two centuries ago, three sisters were accused of witchcraft and thrown into the harbor with rocks tied to their ankles. Now, every year the sisters return, possess the bodies of three girls from town and each drown a boy in the harbor.
Penny, like most people in the village, accepted their town's fate. But then just before the drowning season starts, a mysterious boy called Bo shows up, unaware of the danger he's just stumbled into, and Penny does not quite know if she can trust him.
This book is not exactly the classic murder mystery, but it does have the kind of huge twist you'd expect from one. It is very atmospheric, and I think that's where this author excels.
Winterwood is the second book by Shea Ernshaw
It is set somewhere different in Oregon (pretty sure that's where the author lives), and follows Nora Walker, a girl who lives in a very isolated mountain village, near the mysterious and potentially deadly Wicker Woods. Rumored to be a witch, only Nora knows the truth about the Wicker Woods. She and the women in her family have a special connection to the place, and one night during a full moon she finds Oliver, a boy who disappeared several weeks ago from the Camp for Wayward Boys and has no memory of what happened.
Nora comes to care for Oliver, but has no choice but to find out what really happened the night he went missing and how he could still be alive. Because Oliver is not the only boy who went missing that night.
Like the Wicked Deep, this more horror than mystery but it has a strong mystery element in it, with another twist suiting a mystery. Like the Wicked Deep, it is also very atmospheric.
There's someone inside your house by Stephanie Perkins
This is a slasher book, but it's also quite heavy on the romance. It's been a while since I read it, and I think there's also a movie of it on Netflix and I think they have a very different ending and a different killer so I'm not sure which happens in which anymore. I think the movie did better in regards of suspense and tension than the book so maybe I'd recommend the movie first? They have some of the same characters and are both slasher/serial killer stories but I think in the movie the deaths were more impactful and the reveal was more exciting.
The story follow Makani, who moved to the town from Hawaii after an incident there, which is hinted at and revealed later on (but I kind of found it underwhelming and weird), and then she makes a couple friends and meets Ollie and teens at her school start dying.
A Lesson in Vengeance by Victoria Lee is not exactly mystery, but it does have murder in it
It is a dark academia set on a very fancy boarding school, and Felicity returns there for her last year after staying away for some time after her first girlfriend had died. Here, she meets new student Ellis, a teen writing prodigy with her first book out, who calls herself a method writer and is now researching an old story about witches that are said to have lived and died on the school grounds. It is part romance between the two girls, but the whole story is pretty dark and messed up and Felicity is at times convinced that these witches might be real and responsible for her girlfriend's death. This is not an easy book to explain but it really was quite good.
The Dead and the Dark is a paranormal/horror mystery set in a small town in Oregon. Because apparently Oregon is where all the spooky paranormal mystery things happen? I don't know, it seems to be a popular location
Logan's two dads host a ghost hunting show together, and have traveled to this town, which is also their hometown, for the new season. But teenagers are disappearing and there might be something really spooky going on here, and Logan has the feeling her dads are keeping secrets from her.
Ashley is a girl who has lived in this town her entire life, and her boyfriend was the first to go missing. Now, Logan is her only hope to find him.
This is a sapphic story as well as a paranormal mystery, but the emphasis is more on the mystery, I think. There are ghosts in here and a pretty sinister and quite creative explanation for what is happening in this town and why.
Last on the list is Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
More fantasy than murder mystery, but the main premise is that a boy dies and the main character, Yadriel, accidently summons his ghost. Yadriel is a brujo, and in his community brujo's can speak with ghosts, but his family was hesitant to let him use his powers because he's transgender and they're not sure if he can be a brujo or would wield female powers instead. When he summons Julian, Julian wants Yadriel to find out who killed him, and the two go on an investigation. But the longer they are together, the more Yadriel wants Julian to stay with him.

can you make a one shot for Zach Sandford were him and the reader sneak off during the party scene
Hell Yeah :) Tw/content: Nazi-bongs Mentioned, Reader doesn't smoke Tag: @kaiparkerwife
Tumblr media
Zach hadn't been planning on ditching the party, but you had a way of dragging him along, without even knowing it. You had felt out of place while everyone else was smoking the Nazi-bongs, so you had tried to find a way out. Zach had such a big home and you found yourself getting lost more often than not.
You felt a rough had grab you, pulling you back. You quickly looked back, relived to see it was just Zach.
"What are you doing, Y/n?" He asks, tilting his head curiously.
You shrugged, rubbing your upper arm, "I just felt awkward, because you know... I don't smoke."
He frowns, now feeling guilty for forgetting, "Right. Sorry, Y/n, I forgot."
"It's nothing. I mean, it's not a big deal."
He hums, grabbing your hand and leading you away. He leads you down some stairs. He dashed and you had trouble keeping up with the long-legged male. He opens a door and you gasp when seeing the beautiful garden.
"Nice huh?"
"Yeah. It is." You smile and Zach comes up behind you, before he walks infront of you and gestures you to follow him.
He leads you into a maze and you quickly follow behind him, not wanting to get lost. You could hear him laughing at your hesitant.
"Where are we going?"
"You're going to love it," He elbows you, before finally stopping. It was a Gazebo and it was covered in multiple different colors of roses. He pats a seat next to him and while you do sit next to him, you were still confused.
"What are we doing?"
He laughs, "You are so impatient."
You roll your eyes and Zach pulls you closer to him. He intertwines your hands together, caressing your palm. You look around, looking at the flowers and sky. You smile and Zach looks over at you.
"It's beautiful."
"Yeah, you really are." He smiles at you, lovingly.
"What?" You look over at him confused and he blushes a bright red.
"Nothing."
"It sounded like you called me beautiful."
He straightened up, exaggerating his hands, "No. I mean you are, but no that would be so weird," He then awkwardly laughs, which causes you to laugh and his face erupts in a bright red blush.
"You're really funny, Zach."
"Funny enough to date?"
"Maybe."

we should talk more about cities that are vampires. cities that are cold and wet and sink into your bones and stay there. cities that are hungry and want to live. dead cities that dont know they're dead and suck the life force of their people to maintain the delusion. cities with harbors that are actually mouths; one-way entries. cities that are devastatingly lonely and see consumption as love

It's been almost a year since Makani Young came to live with her grandmother in landlocked Nebraska, and she's still adjusting to her new life. And still haunted by her past in Hawaii.
Then, one by one, the students of her small town high school begin to die in a series of gruesome murders, each with increasing grotesque flair. As the terror grows closer and the hunt intensifies for the killer, Makani will be forced to confront her own dark secrets.
Review/Summary of the Book
The story “There’s Someone Inside Your House” written by Stephanie Perkins, published on September 12, 2017, is a suspenseful page-turner filled with gruesome killings, high school friendship groups, dark secrets, and youthful romance. I love how the author started the story. She captured my interest when she started the story with action and proceeded at a steady pace. The plot never drags, but there are enough fun and romantic parts to keep me entertained. The killings and graphic violence would be too much to bear otherwise. Perkins has a great ear for teen dialogue. The characters come across as clever, humorous, real-life teenagers. The serial killer suspense is entertaining, even with the gruesome murders and mutilations.
The story started with Haley Whitehall, a talented and ambitious theater actress of Osborne High, went home and found the egg-shaped timer oddly lying on the doorstep of their house. She tried to ignore it and took a nap. Later that night, she woke up and was killed by a killer.
The next morning, Haley’s death had spread to the small town of Osborne, Nebraska. Makani Young and her friends, fellow seniors Darby and Alex, all shared in the gossip, although Makani feels bad about gossiping about Haley's death. Ollie Larsson, the loner boy with an edgy look whom Makani has feelings for, arrives at school with pink hair that has been newly dyed. Alex spreads allegations that Ollie murdered Haley and dyed his hair with her blood.
Makani gets involved when Ollie gets into a fight with some football team members. Later that evening, she and Ollie confess their feelings for each other. Makani's Grandma Young discovers that Makani is texting Ollie and warns her that she needs to meet him before allowing Makani to date him. The author finally shows a glimpse of Makani's past. Makani moved in with Grandma Young about a year ago. She used to live in Hawaii, where she was involved in a mystery incident that caused all of her friends to stop talking with her, including her best friend, Jasmine.
Makani is surprised by how easily Ollie gets along with Grandma Young when she brings him home to meet her. Darby and Alex, on the other hand, are not pleased about Makani and Ollie’s relationship. They seek inside information about Haley's murder from Ollie, knowing Ollie's brother and legal guardian, Chris, works for the Osborne Police Department. However, when the mysterious killer attacked again, the murdering football star Matt Butler, Alex, and Darby suspected Ollie, as they believed that it was because of his past experiences. When Ollie was in middle school, his parents were killed in a car accident. He went through a period of drinking, drug use, and even engaging in a sexual relationship with a woman in her twenties. He eventually attempted to commit suicide by drowning in a river. Regardless of the fact that Ollie underwent treatment and recovered, allegations about his past misbehavior, his edgy appearance, and his quiet, introverted nature led Alex, Darby, and their classmates to be suspicious of him.
Makani had an argument with her friends regarding their assumptions about Ollie. She believes that the boy who happily bonded with her grandma over a mutual interest in jigsaw puzzles isn't fit to be a killer. At the same time, she worries about what her friends and Ollie would do if they discovered her problematic past in Hawaii.
The killer struck again during the night of the weekend, slaughtering Rodrigo Morales, the school's computer genius. Rodrigo's murder creates fear all over the town. Rodrigo was a very normal student, opposite Haley and Matt, who were popular and talented, which means that anyone could be the killer's next victim. The school was suspended by the principal of Osborne High. Everyone is scared. Alex, who had a crush on Rodrigo, is shocked by his death. Makani goes to the Feed 'N' Seed shop, where Darby and Alex work to comfort Alex, but their friendship remains complicated.
When classes resume again during the week, an Omaha clinic tells Grandma Young, who sleepwalks, that she will be examined for a last-minute sleep study. She is hesitant to leave Makani alone, but she also doesn't want to cancel her appointment. She joins the study but orders Makani to stay with Darby until she returns from Omaha. Makani lies and instead brings Ollie home. They hook up. Makani then left Ollie upstairs to get a glass of water when the killer attacked her. Ollie rushes downstairs to help. During the attack, Grandma Young arrives home and lunges at the killer, who stabs her in the belly. The killer left the scene after realizing he was outnumbered. The killer's hoodie, however, slipped off during the attack, exposing his identity: David Ware, an average Osborne High School student. Grandma Young is taken to the hospital by paramedics. She's okay, but she needs to stay in the hospital for a long time. Ollie's brother, Chris, offers Makani a place to stay at the Larsson house while Grandma Young heals.
Makani's assault has reached local news. Darby and Alex arrive at the hospital to apologize for suspecting Ollie. Makani simply forgives them and reveals to everyone her traumatic past. She recalled a drunken hazing ritual for her previous high school's swim team. When things got out of hand, Makani used a knife to cut her ex-best friend Jasmine's ponytail. The police charged Makani with assault, but the allegations were later withdrawn. Makani's already upset, dismissive parents utilized the stress of the incident to disregard Makani even more and pursue a divorce. Makani's classmates turned against her after learning about her incident with Jasmine, and she got death threats on the internet. She still thinks she deserved all of the abuse she experienced. She thinks she will always be a horrible person because of what she did to Jasmine. Makani's friends, to her surprise, responded to her story with compassion rather than judgment. They understand that she is a good person who made a mistake.
After Makani revealed her story, everyone knows that it's only a matter of time until David attacks once again. They attempt to figure out how he selects his victims. They concluded that David could be targeting those who have bullied others or who, like Makani, are hiding a dark secret. Ollie revealed that Rodrigo used to abuse women online. Zachary Loup, the friends conclude, may be David's next target. Ollie shares this information along with Chris, and Alex and Darby go to the local memorial march to warn Zachary.
Makani, Ollie, Darby, and Alex meet at the memorial and warn Zachary. Zachary is shocked and initially reluctant to consider their warning, but eventually complies. Meanwhile, Caleb Greeley, Pastor Greeley's privileged and ultra-religious son, has misplaced his plume. Caleb leads the trumpet section of Osborne High School's marching band, which is about to perform at the memorial. He hurries inside Greeley's Foods, the family store where he works, to look for his plume. But inside Greeley's, David Ware is waiting for Caleb. David murdered Caleb, slaughtering and exposing his body in a horrifying way.
Makani and Ollie walk away from the parade. They talk, and Ollie tells Makani about his past. She is touched, and they make their relationship official. They arrive at the entrance to Greeley's Foods, where Ollie's car is parked. They soon discover Caleb's corpse, but not before David barely escapes.
Meanwhile, Katie Kurtzman has come home from the memorial to look for her younger siblings and concentrate on college applications while her mother is at work. David Ware breaks into Katie's home and kills her. Makani and Ollie spend the evening at the hospital with Grandma Young after giving statements to the police. The local news reported the next morning that David Ware had caught a ride back to town with an unaware truck driver.
Later, on the eve of Halloween, Chris returns Makani and Ollie to the Larsson home so that the three of them can sleep. Chris eventually returns to work the next morning. Ollie and Makani are supposed to go back to the hospital, but Alex called them because she's having a panic attack. She's meant to be in the marching band for the football match that same day, but she's scared of David. Makani and Ollie rush to the stadium in order to save Alex. They do so, and then they meet Darby in the hospital parking lot. The friends rethink their theory about David's victim selection method. They now believe David is directly targeting ambitious people. Rosemarie Holt just recently won the state fair barrel race, and they assume David will kill her next. They rush into Ollie's car and drive toward Rosemarie's farm.
When Makani and her friends arrive at Rosemarie's farm, David is holding the knife to Rosemarie's throat. David abandons Rosemarie, who is hurt but otherwise uninjured. David rushes for the massive Martin family corn maze opposite the Holt farm, killing Alex as he escapes. Makani and her friends chase David into the corn maze, which is packed with drunken college students and other tourists drawn to the maze by the sensationalized news of the so-called "Osborne Slayer." David stabs Darby and Ollie in the chest, and they both collapse to the ground. Makani assumes they are both dead.
When she asks David how he did it, he responds in cryptic terms about keeping his victims in Osborne forever so he can leave. Then David tries to stab Makani, but she manages to get away. He chases her through the corn maze. Makani rushes outside into the corn pit. Darby arrives behind David and pushes him in before he can jump in after her. He lands hard and stays still.
Makani approaches David and steals his knife. As she stands over him, she comes to realize that David killed his friends because he was jealous that they were ambitious enough to leave Osborne while he was forced to stay. He murdered individuals because he considered imprisonment at a distant penitentiary as his only option. Makani sees how pitiful David's dream was. She also realizes that one can never escape their difficulties. Unless they have the courage to transform themselves, they will remain their troubled selves wherever they go. Makani decides to kill David, officially ending his reign of terror. The cops came.
While the other first responders loaded Makani and Darby into an ambulance, Chris raced into the corn maze to uncover Ollie's body. Another officer's radio beeps: it's Chris, who confirms that Ollie is still alive. Makani rushes through the corn maze in search of Chris and Ollie. She and Chris kneel on each side of Ollie, and everyone feels protected for the first time.
Analysis
Psychological Approach
Aiming to reconceptualize some of Freud's earliest psychoanalytic thinking, Stephanie Perkin’s "There’s Someone Inside Your House" agrees with Freud's understanding from a psychoanalytic perspective about the id personality and early experiences influencing current behaviors.
Id personality can be seen by the behaviors of some characters in the story. Makani's point of view stated that it has been a long time since she has gotten a boyfriend, and she wants to experience it again immediately, with Ollie as her boyfriend this time. The pleasure that she needs is not satisfied right away, causing her to fantasize about Ollie from afar. When Rodrigo unconsciously said something rude to Makani, he regretted it afterward and made an agreement with himself that he should change his rude behavior. According to Freud's theory of personality, this is a violation of his superego, which caused him to feel guilty and swear to change his behavior from then on.
Additionally, Makani's behavior agrees with Sigmund Freud's understanding of early experiences being so influential on current behavior. She was influenced by her past trauma on her previous swim team in Hawaii. This can be seen whenever Makani acts uneasy with her friends and after giving her answer to the police officer about the use of a knife.
2. Reader-Response Approach
Stephanie Perkin's "There's Someone Inside Your House" is a suspenseful page-turner filled with gruesome killings, high school friendship groups, dark secrets, and youthful romance. I like that the action begins immediately and proceeds at a steady pace throughout the story. The plot never drags, but there are enough fun and romantic parts to keep the reader entertained. The killings and graphic violence would be too much to bear otherwise. Perkins has a great ear for teen dialogue. The characters come across as clever, humorous, real-life teenagers. The serial killer suspense is entertaining, even with the gruesome murders and mutilations. Without giving too much information, one murder is given limited attention, and the killer's revelation is unsatisfying.
I like that the story begins with a murder right away. It hooked my attention and made me want to finish the whole story in just one night. It was followed by introducing friendship groups and youthful romance at a steady pace. I was a bit bored whenever three to four pages of the story were filled with romance. However, I like the author's selection of unique characters. I did not expect an edgy-looking guy to be partnered with the protagonist, but I like the idea. Another thing that I did not expect in this book is that it is filled with gruesome killings. It was entertaining and too much to bear at the same time. Thanks to the humorous and real-life teenage characters, I was distracted and was able to bear the mutilation scenarios. The suspense is entertaining, but I was frustrated when the author provided little information about the murder, making it difficult for me to guess who committed it. Also, I am not satisfied with the revelation of the killer's identity. The execution and timing were a bit too fast for me.
3. Sociological Approach
"Social boundaries were being crossed everywhere. Students still ate with their own kind, but each group sat a little closer to the other groups. It was sad that people only got along when everybody was unhappy."
This was stated in the story. The social groups of each character mentioned were one of the factors that led me to my theories and assumptions about the unrelenting killer. Different groups were mentioned at the start of the story, often making fights and gossiping against each other. However, when the killings started, each group was unconsciously getting closer to each other and started talking over the current situation. This particular happening can be somewhat related to real-life situations in society. It was both sad and good to know that people got closer after each disaster. At least they're helping each other get through the situation. However, it is still sad because
Social groups indeed lift you up and cheer you up even on your worst days. However, the case is not the same for everyone. Some social groups are manipulative and will drown you even on your worst days. Makani's past experience is the evidence itself. She developed trauma not just because of the incident but also because of the people who turned her down, including her best friend, Jasmine, and her boyfriend. Back in her recent swim-team in Hawaii, she was engaged into an accident which cause many people to turn her down. Her best friend stopped communicating with her, and her boyfriend cut their relationship without hearing her side of the story. Her classmates and people all over the Internet sent her hate messages and death threats. Even her parents turned her down and decided to send her to Osborne, Nebraska, to start a new life with her new surname. The anxiety that Makani had suffered from her past social life was no joke.
Formalistic Approach
