All the interesting cdramas rumored to come out before the end of the year
I have seen all these rumored. This being c-ent, they can all air or none, but I hope at least some of them make it.
Back from the Brink - rumored for Q4 for this year. I loved every adaptation of this author’s novels and the plot sounds amazing. Plus, very fond of Zhou Ye, so pls.
Tumblr media
Chong Zi - Journey of Flower for the new decade. Jeremy Tsui is hot, I adore Yang Chaoye however unpopular that opinion is, and the angsty shizunfucker set up is up my alley. It’s got its license but most of the rumors I’ve seen say early next year so probably not this year alas.
Tumblr media
Da Ming Under the Microscope - got its license, rumored for 2022, all hail the one interesting non-romance costume drama on this list!
Tumblr media
Divine Destiny - Angelababy plays a stone. Yes, yes, I can make the same jokes. The trailer is kinda cheesy and cheap-looking but I have an unaccountable fondness for both Baby and her leading man Ma Tianyu, who should be more popular than he is, so here is hoping.
Tumblr media
Forbidden Love - all sorts of rumors are saying beginning of November, they got their license and have been releasing some promos, so I think this has a decent chance. It would also make sense to release it ASAP to take advantage of Dylan’s newfound red hot status but I am not a studio boss so what do I know?
Tumblr media
Legend of Anle - got its license, released a trailer and is rumored for end of year. I’d say decent chance, but then some dramas have that same trifecta of things and we are still waiting for them so...but please?
Tumblr media
The Longest Promise - bwahahaha Xiao Zhan dramas always take an eternity to air. It was rumored to be a summer drama and now we are in October and it still doesn’t have a license. I wouldn’t hold my breath. Also, I am amused how it and Chong Zi are both story AND poster twins.
Tumblr media
Love When the Stars Fall - I still remember when it was listed as one of the summer dramas so I am vvvvvv. skeptical especially if rumors of them wanting a TV license is true. Trailer is so so but I am very fond of Chen Xing Xu who deserves better dramas.
Tumblr media
New Life Begins - got its license, released a trailer blah blah has all the hallmarks of being released soon, too bad I hated the trailer so. Also, what is the chicken fixation?
Tumblr media
Romance of a Twin Flower - I’ve seen that rumor and I wish I hadn’t because everything I’ve seen of this drama makes it a pastel abomination turning my favorite non-danmei - smart and dark and very much adult - web novel into a cheap, dumb piece of trash. I am much more interested in the other DYX drama - Love You Seven Times - but no rumors for that.
Tumblr media
Song of the Moon - I still remember when it was rumored for January 2022. Now it’s being rumored again, though this time it definitely has a license. We shall see.
Tumblr media
Till the End of the Moon - just got its license, rumored for December. PLEASEEEEEE! It’s my most anticipated on this list.
Tumblr media
Warm on a Cold Night - that poster and the plot both give me hives and LYT alternates between awesome dramas and terrible ones - but here is hoping. It just got its license.
Tumblr media
ETA: I take it back about that poster. After pulling a poster after poster of identical couple poses, this looks downright refreshing.
BONUS AKA DRAMAS I AM NOT INTERESTED IN
She and Her Perfect Husband and Lighter and Princess are both rumored for October 28. The former looks like brain dead fluff and the latter the same with added bonus of leading lady still only possessing one emotion on her face - like smelling something rotten - same as in Fall in Love.
I’ve also seen rumors of Bright Future, but much as I like Hu Ge, I don’t do communist propaganda, having imbibed enough of it during my childhood to last a lifetime.

Maybe I'm just on Tumblr too much where the biases are different, but I read a thread about most talented actors and the posters didn't even mention Zhu Yilong until like twenty posts in? And after Xiao Zhan and Wang Hedi? What travesty is this?
And they mention Yang Mi and Zhou Ye and Zhao Lusi but not Liu Yitong????? No mentions at all of Luo Jin or Feng Shaofeng or Hu Jun or Chen Minghao or even Ma Tianyu or Chen Feiyu? And only one person mentioned Fang Yilun at all? No one mentioned Liu Yuning's exponential growth with each drama? I mean, look at how he started and where he is now. No one else is pulling it together like he is.
Like, I like Xiao Zhan and Zhao Lusi, and I respect the effort Zhou Ye is putting in, but come on!
...The Liu Yitong in Court Lady and Condor Heroes 2017, not the Liu Yitong in Legend of Two Sisters in the Chaos, for the record. Different hanzi, different acting levels, different skill/luck in script selection.
...I agree about Cheng Yi, though, I'll give them that.
EDIT: Li Yitong. I'm an idiot who messes up names and reblogs my shit without realizing it.

Episode 32, let's go!
We’re still in the flashback to little Xie Yun’s time with the monk. And excuse me but WTF?! XY plays hide and seek with some servant (I guess, he seems to be charged to take care of the little prince), the guy can’t find him, immediately despairs and decides to kill himself about it?! Oh-kay?! I mean, yeah it would be shitty to have lost the heir of the former emperor, but like, my man, the kid was up there in the tree right behind you! Just IDK, turn around? Look up for a moment? WTF.
I guess giving a child a huge guilt complex because a servant chose suicide over actually checking some typical hiding spots is also a way to get that child to start studying instead of fooling around… 눈_눈
Chuchu tells Li Sheng about seeing Yin Pei and wonders about YP's new-found strength. Li Sheng says that there are different ways to achieve such strength, either training + studying for many years, or using some questionable means to speed up the process. But that way usually will have a huge price in the end.Is this ~~foreshadowing~~?
Chuchu tries out the martial arts technique she wrote down in her notes (I think Madame Duan’s?). She’s determined to get it right but I think it doesn’t really work how it’s supposed to.
Tumblr media
Lo and behold, Yin Pei arrives! Now with fashionable white streaks in his hair and newly a master of the four mountains (I think? Because he took over for Ding Kui?). He wants to thank Chuchu because she was nice to him in the past. Chuchu feels understandably threatened but before anything can really happen, Li Sheng arrives, notices the fly-whisk from old Master Chongxiao that Yin Pei carries and fights Yin Pei, because he assumes correctly that something happened to the old master. Anyway, he loses, because of course he does. Yin Pei is actually a bit miffed that this wasn’t really much of a fight, but gives him the fly-whisk and leaves again, because he likes Chuchu I guess.
Okay we’re cutting in minute-intervalls between the different groups, got it.
Zhou Fei wants to find the source of the poison, but the monk says that all records from Big Medicine Valley were lost, so they can’t reconstruct the poison and the woman who invented it has vanished, too. Yin Hecong shows up and sneaks up to the boat with unconscious XY.
Somewhere else, but likely close by, because it’s how this show works, Li Yan and Yang Jin are looking for A-Fei.
A-Fei is send on a quest by the monk: retrieve the Fire Lotus plant from the super cold snowy mountains because it serves as a hot poison and therefore counteragent to XY’s poison. This might make him live longer so they’ll have more time to look for an antidote. I find it very daring of the monk to sent her off on her own as she has abysmal sense of direction… XD
Tumblr media
Like, the mountain is right there and still she starts walking in the wrong direction...
Ying Hecong has snuck onto the boat and is his usual creepy but also scientifically minded self: he wants to steal XY’s corpse to find out more about the poison. The monk stops him, though. XD
He is found by Li Yan and Yang Jin. I’m glad the one braincell trio is finally complete again! :D
YHC is still unconscious so they bring him to the inn where Chuchu and Li Sheng are, because as I’ve said, they’re all in the same little corner here. XD YHC tries to lie about what happened but then tells them how Zhou Fei killed Chu Tianyu and that she’s okay. Li Sheng seems angry (worried?) and leaves.
Tumblr media
Ohhhh there is the evil guy from ep 10 or so, the wannabe disciple of Chongxiao whose name I have forgotten (sth with ‘judge’?). I’d wondered if he’d ever show up again or if the show forgot about him. Anyway, he follows Li Sheng.
Aiyah! There we go! We finally meet Hu Tianying, the evil poison woman! She sits in her pretty garden pavilion, tending to a plant and daintily coughing into her hand. This tells us that she is extremely ill and likely only has a short time left to live.
Thank you, show, for telling us after 30 episodes what the Hai Tian Yi Se actually is (or seems to be)! Woohoo! Shen Tianshu desperately wants it because it (likely) contains the super book of medicine, which might have a treatment for his beloved wife! Hallelujah, relevant information! XD Hu Tianying talks about how she poisoned Xiao Chuan (XY) and that he’s been reckless with his powers and close to dying (she is very well informed). She’s also super clever because she knows that his friends will look for the Fire Lotus, which conveniently will bloom soon. That’s where they can find Zhou Fei and the part of the seal she has.
Tumblr media
Shen Tianshu wants to go himself but she worries about him. They instead send Lu Tiankuang instead, who so far has protected her at home, but who comes from the cold mountains and therefore should easily handle Zhou Fei. He also has some wolf nickname, as they all have some cool nicknames… wasn't Shen Tianshu also something with "wolf"?!. XD
Back at the inn! Yin Hecong doesn't want to help or try working on an antidote for XY's poison. Li Yan fake-cries long enough to get Ying Hecong to stay with them anyway and help her look for an antidote after all. YHC and YJ commiserate over being so whipped, because they both just can’t say no to Li Yan when she is "crying". XD
Tumblr media
A wounded man from the army shows up at the inn; he is followed by Disha. It’s the same man who sealed young XY’s powers back in the day, and it seems now Disha is hunting him down for, uhhh, something. IDK. The Disha guy following him is the one with the eyepatch and red hair. Too lazy to look up his name again. XD I'm sure we'll see more of him next episode.
Li Yan notices that something is up, and her sense of righteousness makes her stay with the wounded man. She also confronts the Disha guy, because she has a death wish. He laughs at her first but gets angry when she accuses him of bringing shame to Disha with his shitty behaviour.

Arbitrage Trading in the Cryptocurrency Market
Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual asset that uses cryptography to secure its transactions. Cryptocurrencies are decentralized, meaning they are not subject to government or financial institution control. Bitcoin, the first and most well-known cryptocurrency, was created in 2009. Cryptocurrencies are often traded on decentralized exchanges and can also be used to purchase goods and services.
There are four main strategies for trading cryptocurrencies:
Mean reversion
Momentum trading
Trend following
Arbitrage trading
The first 3 trading strategies are based mostly on time-series and cross-section price prediction. Relatively little attention is paid to the last one, i.e. arbitrage trading strategy.
Arbitrage trading takes advantage of price differences in different markets.  Here’s an overly simplistic example: if Bitcoin is selling for $11,000 on one exchange and $11,100 on another, a trader can buy Bitcoin on the first exchange and immediately sell it on the second exchange for a $100 profit. In order to be successful, an arbitrage trader must have access to capital, be able to move capital quickly, and have a low overhead.
Reference [1] examined some common and unique arbitrage trading opportunities in cryptocurrency exchanges that are not discussed often in the literature. They are,
Exchange futures contract funding rate arbitrage
Exchange futures contract intertemporal arbitrage
Triangular arbitrage
Pairs trading
Order book spread prediction arbitrage
The author found that,
Many pieces of research are done on cryptocurrency time-series and cross-section price prediction. This paper examines some common and unique arbitrage opportunities in cryptocurrency exchanges that are not widely mentioned in academic journals. It is shown that these semi-risk free arbitrage can provide a great return with minimal risk, despite constraints of actual market conditions and exchanges conditions that make them perform worse in live trading than backtesting. By mixing these strategies into portfolios, we could achieve a higher Sharpe ratio than simply holding cryptos.
In short, arbitrage trading is possible and profitable in the crypto market.
Our observations are as follows,
These trading strategies are not riskless. Drawdown can happen
Diversification helps smooth out the equity curves greatly
Last and not least, since the crypto market is still in its early days, we don’t know whether other risks such as liquidity, counterparty credit risk, etc. were factored in the price discrepancies.
Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Review: Chinese Film - Jane Eyre (2019)
Tumblr media
I was adding some films to my new Letterboxd account (to keep track of the movies I have seen) when this listing for a Chinese film called Jane Eyre came up.  I had not heard of it, and English descriptions of the film are very scarce.  The listing seemed promising as it describes the movie as a “Modern retelling of Bronte romance but in the world of modern IT technologies.”  However when I used Google to translate the Chinese title of “简爱之约”, it gives me the English translation of “Jane’s Covenant.”  Not very promising but I was curious, so I decided to check it out and I found a source for it online with subtitles.  However I was disappointed as this film is not a rendition of the novel like I had hoped.
This film came out on January 31, 2019 and is directed by Zhang Tianyu and stars Gavin Gao and Wang Wei.  The English subtitles I found for this were also not terribly accurate so I could have made some errors in how I interpreted the story in this film.  I was really looking at how the film tried to “adapt” the novel and from what I could tell the story revolves around a kind of love triangle.  The male lead - Xiang Mo - was in a long term relationship with the female lead - Xioaran (or “Ran” as she seems to be called affectionately) - but his workaholic lifestyle led to her deciding to break up with him.  Later, Ran applies for a job at the design company Xiang works at (with pressure from her best friend) and gets it.  The female manager at that company, Miss Zhou, is interested in Xiang however and tries to get his attention.  But he is still hung up on Ran.  The movie flashes back to their previous relationship a few times to get across how they met and how he pushed her away.  There is also mention of Ran wanting a “Mr. Rochester” and plans of them going to see a play of “Jane Eyre.”
Miss Zhou sees Xiang is not interested in her and attempts to smear Ran’s reputation with some ugly rumors and then ends up telling her that she must do something about Xiang’s love for her, or Miss Zhou will continue to sabotage Ran’s career.  Ran and Xiang have a conversation about their feelings but Ran wants Xiang to put her above his career and Xiang is not completely ready to do that.  He ends up going to a work party with Miss Zhou on his arm, and then finds out from Ran’s best friend that Ran is taking a flight to get away that night.  The film ends with Xiang running to her.
The plot is simple with some basic twists and character developments.  Obviously it is not a direct adaptation of Charlotte’s novel, but as an interpretation I was curious to see if the film would make some kind of commentary on the nature of love and romance as portrayed in “Jane Eyre.”  If Xiang had made some kind of romantic overture to Ran that was reminiscent of Mr. Rochester that would have been interesting, but the film seemed to emulate generic romantic tropes - especially with the jealous woman and running to the airport to declare his love.  I pondered over whether Miss Zhou is more like Blanche Ingram or like Bertha, and it seems like she is much more of a Blanche - beautiful, petty, and manipulative.  She is not a major obstacle to Xiang and Ran getting together either - it seems like Xiang’s work habits are more at fault.
Overall, I’m not quite sure why this film is called “Jane Eyre” in English.  Plot-wise the connection is tenuous, although the novel is mentioned a couple times.  And there is a scene near the end where Ran takes a book down from her bookcase and reads it.  The voiceover reading is male and I wondered if it was quoting Jane Eyre, but the subtitles didn’t translate that text.  [Edit: Brontëblog checked the text in the book onscreen through screencaps and confirmed that it is not from “Jane Eyre”] For Brontëites who happen across a mention of this film, I have done the research to say this is not a direct adaptation or commentary on “Jane Eyre”, although it does seem to look up to the novel’s romantic characters

I am so so sorry that it took me this long to continue my LoF watching posts! RL, y’know. Ep 26 felt like a good place to take a breather, as well, so that’s what I did.
Tumblr media
Anyway, let’s move on to eps 27 and 28!
It’s exposition time! Zhou Fei and ChuChu are at a tea house and hear about an army deserter who was trained on the Mountain of the Immortals (has this been mentioned before... IDK), was poisoned and became a monk. A-Fei thinks this story sounds familiar (indeed it does, indeed it does...) and ChuChu remembers having read sth like this in a book (the book of ... Peng Lai? I think?).
Oh look, Huo Fort becomes relevant again! I forgot about them. Anyway, Huo Lintao, who is now the boss and seems to not be well liked basically everywhere, wants to fight Disha and invites people from Jianghu to his Destroy Disha Assembly (God, I just love that name XD). Li Sheng & 48 Strongholds get an invite and he wants to investigate. Huo Fort is also... attacked by random cultivators I guess?
Meanwhile, let’s check in on Yin Pei! He still can’t deal with his internal injury (loss of internal power? still not sure; I’m assuming it’s sth like severe damage to a golden core in xanxia or even complete loss of one) and scours Old Daoist Master Chongxiao’s rooms for the Phoenix Pill, which... I think gives you lots of power but is also really super dangerous?
This show sure has lots of useful but also dangerous power restoring/improving pills and needles, huh?
Anyway, Yin Pei takes the pill. He does not feel so good. Uh oh.
Li Yan and Yang Jin go in search for A-Fei again – uhm, didn’t A-Fei simply go into town with ChuChu? Why are they searching for her again, other that Yang Jin wants to fight her because one obvious defeat isn’t enough? I'm guessing there has been a time skip again...
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, at Disha Manor! Shen Tianshu is nursing his wounded ego I guess, while Chu Tianyu, an older member, is now supposed to take care of all this drama, but he doesn’t really want to because he’s retired. How many weird members of Disha are there?
Oh okay, so Yin Pei goes kinda crazy because of the scabbard since it seems to be gone, takes more of the Phoenix Pills, which is a fucking stupid idea, we get some exposition that this might turn him into a demon of some sort, and then he kills Chongxiao for the scabbard because he thinks that the old master wants it for himself.
Which, you know, isn’t true, but that’s what you get for being so secretive, I guess. Chongxiao actually wanted the scabbard so a forger could make lots of copies of it, so that Yin Pei can keep the original one. *sigh* Well, too late now. Yin Pei also meets that evil guy from way back in ep 7 or 8 who’d fought Chongxiao and Li Sheng, who calls himself the Black Judge (I’m too lazy to look up his name and hope he doesn’t really become that relevant).
Tumblr media
I’m kinda sad that Yin Pei simply seems to go the “Oops I’m super crazy now“ route instead of having a more interesting redemption arc. I also... don’t really know what he wants to do now? He’s got the scabbard of his father... Are there still people alive he could take revenge on? Disha I guess?
But! The song that plays while Yin Pei confronts Chongxiao is awesome! I'm in love.♥
Back to the main characters, thank you! Xie Yun is really ill and freezing, the poison taking its toll. He’s at the same inn as two new characters (noooo, no more characters, have mercy!) Zhu Chen and Zhu Ying of the small Zhu sect, who are there for that assembly. They eye XY and feel sorry for him. We instantly know that these are Good People.
Tumblr media
Aaaaaand introducing another new character, Ying Hecong, Poison Doctor! I know he’s relevant because he’s got a poster!
Of course Zhou Fei just misses Xie Yun in that inn. *sigh* But then she meets Li Yan and Yang Jin there, which is nice.
Yet another new character!  He’s Black Tortoise Ding Kui and has henchman that are dressed in a rather peculiar way. Is this now the same as with that Azure Dragon guy, and I don’t really have to remember him? He’s from the 4 Guardians Mountain (speaking of which, where tf is Mu XiaoQiao!?).
Okay okay I see now. Everyone is in LingLing for that meet up with the Huo family! Madame Nichang is there too! Ah my beloved! ♥ She tells Xie Yun to follow his heart, and not be stupid and only think of his end.
Tumblr media
Xie Yun is all evasive of course, and then he meets up with Cheng Zichen who of course is also there! Because of this he finds out that Zhou Fei is there, too, which puts him into a conflict. Because his running away was going so well, dammit!
Tumblr media
On to Ep 28!
Xie Yun hides out in the carriage with Ling Yu of the Feather Robe Troupe, who slyly comments on him running away from Zhou Fei. He’s sad and says that it’s not A-Fei’s fault and that he’s just an unlucky person who is not good for her. T_T Kill me, why don’t you.
Tumblr media
A-Fei has learned a lot and notices XY’s ruse, yay go my heroine!♥
She catches him and they fight, and she asks him about the poison. Zhou Fei obviously suspects ahhhh! (╯°□°)╯ ┻━┻ But of course when XY seems happy that she was looking for him, she goes all haughty again and is like, “It’s only because of the HYTS!“ (although no it was mainly because of him and she looks light she might burst into tears any moment now, too...)
Tumblr media
They get distracted by the procession of Black Tortoise Master walking by and A-Fei knocks XY out. They’re even now! XD
Nice to see the whole gang together as A-Fei drags the unconscious Xie Yun to an inn! ChuChu my beloved! ♥
OMG Li Sheng and Yang Jin getting into this peacock fight! XD Li Sheng scolds his sister and Yang Jin is super pissed about it. Li Yan is looking sooo smug, like “Yep that's my very own protective himbo!“ XD
Tumblr media
Then Li Sheng is sent off to find Madame Nichang because she at least might know what to do about Xie Yun.
Ding Kui arrives at the Hui Fort. If I understood correctly... Hui Lintao wants to... kill all the cultivators when they arrive for his assembly? Or just those other cultivators that are randomly attacking him? There's traps in the forest they have go through. He specifically mentions that the traps are set after Daoist Master Chongxiao’s design, so hm might Li Sheng be of great help here later? Anyway, that old guy from Disha is there and seems to find all of this very funny. I’m confused.
Mu Xiaoqiao my love!!!!!!! He’s back!!!!  For about 5 seconds but there he is, looking fabulous! ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆
Tumblr media
Ding Kui (who... has left the Huo Fort I guess) wants to work with him and reminds him of his debt to the Huo Fort. I had forgotten about that.
Oh let’s check in for about a minute on Yin Pei, who is still crazy and slaughters some people... uhm somewhere. He also now calls himself the true Master of Clear Light. [at least I think it’s supposed to be his new name?] Nicely written on the door in blood. Okay then.
But the instrumental of his song plays in the background, making all of this much more epic, so it’s fine.
Tumblr media
Madame Nichang arrives, is shocked, and states that Xie Yun is poisoned, as A-Fei feared, and he has a year if he doesn’t use his internal force anymore. A-Fei is devastated and we get their love song while she rubs his (supposedly) ice-cold hand. Oh my heart. T_T
Tumblr media
Ying Hecong arrives because he wants to see the poisoned guy! XD He has never heard of tact.
Since A-Fei is desperate she lets him in, and we get some exposition in bits and pieces. Ying Hecong first assumes that XY must’ve been poisoned about a month ago (which fits the fight against Disha, where he used the needle), but wonders how that could be because Lian Sheng (the poisoner known for bone piercing blue) has been missing for a while longer. He lets slip that he isn’t actually a doctor, uhm yeah....
Oh not A-Fei is so sad and crying, nooooo T_T She’s angry at XY, asking why he had to meddle in her affairs and then leave to just die somewhere alone. Oh nooooo.  ಥ_ಥ ಥ_ಥ ಥ_ಥ
(side note: easy scene for Wang Yibo, just lying there the whole time, no lines for once XD)
A-Fei gets the Tianmen Lock from Madam Nichang (a special lock that has a double lock mechanism that is very difficult to open. Md. Nichang actually alludes to this lock being very useful for lovers and I’m like... okay XD). YunFei are kinky as ever, nothing new here – A-Fei is so pissed at XY that she doesn’t want him to have the chance to run away again. XD
Tumblr media
Loved how XY complained about the lock destroying his posture. XD And how Zhou Fei’s like, “It’s not my fault you’re bound like that, Li Sheng is to blame!“ while the flashback tells us, that uhm no, he’s not. XD
Ending with A-Fei telling Yang Jin about the Hai Tian Yi Se. Ah they’re important relics it seems. Well whatever. XY listens in.
I really need to keep on watching, it seems stuff is happening.
