A simple looking yet deep meaning tale is what is brought by Lijo Jose Pellissery with the phenomenal cinematography by Girish which set new bars in the indian film industry.
The cinematography of the film is no doubt one the best cinematography with excellent night shots and unique camera positions which makes the film look great and helps us to connect with the film.
The story starts of with the butcher who left his Buffalo who then runs away and causes destruction and chaos. Later more villagers join for help to control it but some get injured. The basic aim of the villagers was just to catch the buffalo but suddenly the whole village has joined as a movement.
This story not only has very deep message but also some hidden meanings.
The furious behaviour of the men of village becomes a strong anger such that they also do not believe in each other and get ready to murder each other for eating the meat. This shows our herd mentality and how we move on as a herd following each other and also how we always want to climb up the ladder but forget the humanity.
The sound design, original score and music of the film makes you feel the exact state of confusion which will be there in your mind while watching the film, and during extreme scenes it will makes you more anxious.
The set design is so authentic and beautiful, makes your every scene look great.
This movie will force your mind to think and will keep you in a state of confusion with very good scenes and hence it is a must watch.
My rating:- 9/10

'Jallikattu' review: An Epitaph for Mankind
‘Jallikattu’ review: An Epitaph for Mankind
The opening ten minutes of the Malayalam movie Jallikattu (a traditional bull taming game) set the routine of life in Meppara village to a chop-and-cut rhythm of shots, the ticking of a clock (more about that in a bit), heavy breathing (reminding me of the rhythm that Kraftwerk set for their adrenalin-pumping Tour de France), and a polyphonic a capellaencompassing all that flies in the course of…

‘Ajagajantharam’ movie review: A mindless, sensory experience that revels in its violence
‘Ajagajantharam’ movie review: A mindless, sensory experience that revels in its violence
The tasteful manner in which some of the action sequences are staged often makes us forget all our million grouses with Tinu Pappachan’s film When men bursting to the brim with their egos decide to fight each other, they don’t need a reason. When these men are in a film, they don’t need a script, nor the presence of a woman on the screen. That must have been how the initial discussions of Tinu…

Swanthanthryam Ardharathriyal - Review
Swanthanthryam Ardharathriyal, or Freedom at Midnight, is an Action Drama by Tinu Pappachan. The film’s premise is that a man is arrested for the murder of a Sub-Inspector of Kottayam and plans to escape from jail with the help of other prisoners.
The film itself is set up to build up the movie’s climax, which is the great prison break. The film mainly focuses on the relationships between the protagonist, Jacob, and the other characters. The atmosphere set up within the jail is realistic and gritty. The film doesn’t shy away from showing the realities of being a convict in the Indian prison system.
The movie shows how people who are seemingly unlikely to ever befriend each other come together to help each other and run away. Almost every escapee is given enough screen time to show how they contribute to the group. This is the movie’s biggest strength; it provides the audience with a reason to care about the group of escapees. Simon, played by Vinayakan, has an interesting power struggle with Jacob. Their love-hate relationship and the growing trust between them make you feel the struggles they go through as Jacob painstakingly plans the escape. The third recruit, Devassy(Chemban Vinod Jose), is wildly entertaining. He is intended to be the movie’s comic relief, and his lines are well-timed and brilliantly delivered. His chemistry with the other characters, specifically, Girijan(Sinoj Varghese), is excellent at breaking the tension of certain scenes. The introduction of the migrant worker and the twins is a little rushed. Still, the chemistry shared by the group does outweigh the rushed introduction of these characters. The conspirators inside the prison also share a deep and personal grudge towards Jacob, making them strong roadblocks to the escape.
However, one of the biggest problems with this movie is that Jacob’s backstory is handled poorly. Most of the characters outside of the prison are very bland and uninteresting. This is especially detrimental to the plot since a part of Jacob’s plan includes saving his wife; she, however, is not established well enough to gain any sympathy from the audience. Several extraneous forces are threatening Jacob’s (and his wife’s) safety. This causes the narrative to be jumbled and confused. Jacob’s background is narrated similarly to giving the audience a collector’s baseball card with stats for each character. Most of them become uninteresting and come across as tools to move the plot forward. While exposition is often necessary to tell a story, the convoluted nature of Jacob’s backstory, along with the fragmented way it was revealed, left me bored and agitated. This problem is even more evident since the internal forces preventing Jacob from escaping are set up well and directly contradict the vague extraneous forces keeping him locked up.
Aside from that, however, the main character is very likable. Jacob is not my favorite character in the movie, but the film does ensure that you are rooting for him at the end. Jacob is intelligent, resourceful, and devious. His biggest strength is that he is very good at improvising. His ability to charm and manage the people around him makes the story that much more believable. The actor, Antony Varghese, does an outstanding job at playing Jacob. He was able to capture a lot of Jacob’s motives and methods without any dialogue.
Most of the acting in the movie is very good. Each character is played very well, even if the part itself is mismanaged by the plot. The sets are also very meticulously crafted. The feeling of being trapped in a dingy cell is definitely felt throughout the movie. The few shots done with a green screen are very poorly done, but almost every other scene was very well crafted. The film was able to set up a lot without any dialogue. This is especially significant in the prison setting. It reduces the suspicion that the main characters are conspiring to escape. The movie is generally technically competent. However, it is not spectacular in any way.
The movie’s final act is suspenseful and captures your attention, but the ending still feels rushed compared to the rest of the plot. The film does rely on Jacob’s narration to help fill out certain parts of the movie. This is very jarring compared to the almost silent escape planning found in the rest of the movie. While it is reasonable to have some exposition in the film to make the film easier to understand, the narration doesn’t really help the audience feel anything for the characters. Jacob’s narration is my least favorite part of this movie. If they could have been cut entirely or simply omitted the plot exposition, it would have improved the film.
Overall, the movie is intense. While it has its problems, it is primarily an engaging social drama. It addresses issues that are often ignored by Indian cinema. I don’t think this movie is unique since the concept isn’t very new. However, it is a desi version of similar films. That point of view alone allows the movie to explore new territory. It sets it apart from other prison break movies. I would give this movie a 7/10. It is flawed, but not enough to ruin your experience. I would definitely recommend giving this drama a chance.
