Tiphanie Doucet shares new single ‘You and I’

US-based songbird and alt-pop multi-instrumentalist Tiphanie Doucet takes us on a dreamy journey through a rock-tinged euphoric soundscape with a sensual French twist in her new track ‘You and I’.

‘You and I’ is part of Doucet's Painted Blue, an introspective five-track offering featuring her seductive vocals and sophisticated imagery. After the critically acclaimed success of her 2018 LP Under my Sun, Painted Blue an evolution from her previously more acoustic tonality, introduces an intimate mix of haunting, electronic tones, artfully woven through her adored lullaby magic.

The lead track ‘You and I’ cleverly evokes passion, sensuality, love without consequences. “I wrote ‘You and I’ with the context of a fascinatingly short but strong heartbreak. I noticed how blue I was following the relationship and that he was happy with someone else, the realization was hard to take.” Tiphanie explained,  “So many people can relate to the feeling of longing the intensity of relationships. In the track, I sing like I am on a mission that can't fail. My wistful tones, full of romance that may not always get reciprocated, and the personal nature of the piece will see listeners foraging through their personal experiences of heartbreak.”

Tiphanie Doucet - Joe Le Taxi

Starting new beginnings with a revisit of a pop classic, Jersey City via France’s Tiphanie Doucet shares her reworking of Vanessa Paradis’ “Joe le Taxi”. Swapping the original’s Latin-influenced sound with an Italo-disco vein, the track situates itself among its anachronistic being. Rummaging through thick bass lines and culminating with dazzling synth arrangements, Doucet’s sweet but frosty vocal tones add new energy to the iconic track. The first track produced by the artist herself, which will feature on an upcoming album, Doucet explained her choice first single was one that you can’t go about not humming.
