Olive oil for the dough of the pierogi? Are you like... Sure it works? It has different thermal properties than most other oil. Then again, I never tried this, during to a personal dislike for olives, and I'd be genuinely curious to know how they turn out.

Also, are you doing the Polish kind (small, white, can be either boiled or fried) or the Russian пироги (about a hand big, exclusively fried)? What stuffing are you doing?

bestie i just make them they way they are shown to me which is roll the dough, punch out circle with something round, fill, seal, boil for a few minutes and then freeze and pan fry with onion when its time to eat them

and the filling is not traditional. theyre my pierogis so i put what i want in them >:)

has anyone recently had an issue with their V's nail polish disappearing in photomode? I've run through every possible issue i can think of, and nothing is fixing it

it just started like a week ago and i haven't done any major updates; the only mods I've added are clothes and poses

the only mods i use that affect nails/arms are xbae's vanilla big booba togglable feet body + arms, and I've determined they are not the issue (removed them and still had the issue PLUS i have them active on my less modded game and v's nails appear just fine).

no gorilla arms, no mantis blades, etc. mods; valerie does have the thermal projectile cyberware (and it's just occurring to me that i haven't tried changing her cyberware to see if that has any effect; will give that a go)

i do have photo mode unlocker which i know can do funky stuff, but I've downloaded the facial fixes for it; i don't know if there's something else I'm missing there

i don't have any other special textures or anything that would obviously be connected to nails

the nail polish does appear in the mirror animations but spawned v's nail polish doesn't show

ETA - okay it seems like it might be connected to the specific character save I'm on? tried one of my other versions of valerie and the nail polish loaded fine soooo hmmm

ETA 2 - so it does seem to be connected to the thermal projectile cyberware; changing her to mantis blades makes the nails come back, and then when i tried to go back to the thermals, they disappeared again

You know how some interactions will stick with you to the end of time? I had one with a coworker once that I will never stop coming back to so I can giggle.

I said we were going to Poland for a week, in July, to see my partner's family. Mama and babcia had been more or less demanding we go out for a while.

She said, 'better pack your skis and thermals!'

So I laughed a bit confused and said that we won't need those, it'll be well over 40C in Silesia. Hot enough for local news reporters to attempt to fry an egg on a car.

She looked at me, very confused, and then said with utmost confidence 'no it won't. Poland is a COLD country. It snows there.'

So I said 'yes, but not all the time. They have much colder winters sure, and much hotter summers.'

Her response? 'No. Poland is COLD.'

After some more back and forth we established that she believes that only England and a few other 'proper' countries have seasons, and the rest are all either 'hot' (like Spain, which doesn't have winter and is summer always) or 'cold' like Poland (which is sad and grey and snowy winter always and why so many Polish people go to other countries). She couldn't locate any of these countries on a map, mind, despite her parents having retired to an English enclave in Spain.

I tried a lot of things to convince her that no, every country in the world has seasonal variation, but I really don't think she believed me. Pretty sure she's still out there convinced that in Poland and Russia and similarly located places December and July look the same. I should really have asked if she thinks everyone in Australia sits on the ceiling too...

She was in her 40s with two teenage kids and has a masters degree in cellar biology. Can't help but think she should have studied some geography with that.

Today's polish is without question my favorite thermal I've tried so far. I love the cold state and warm state colors equally and the flakes are GORGEOUS. I am really sad to take this one off which is how I know I have a winner. This one also looked fantastic matte, which you can see in the last two pictures. This is You've Got Red on You from Cadillacquer.

Scars - 324 Words

In the clouded mirror, Maria no longer has edges. She's a blur. A smudge of foundation on the edge of the sink. She wraps herself up in the warmth of a towel and tucks it neatly closed over her breasts. How long until the room cools? The steam is already condensing into little bundles of pearl on the tiles and a chill blows over her shoulders.

It's a reminder that it's a brief respite - the blur. A shapeless time where water drips from her hair and Maria doesn't mind because there's no shirt to soak it up and chafe her with it.

She dabs her face with the towel and winces. A red dot has appeared on the white flannel.

Don't scratch.

Don't pick.

Don't squeeze.

She traces her fingertips over her chin. Draws them over tacky, barely-dry skin, until she hits it. The bump. A thermal fissure. Maria bends down. The blur doesn't disappear quickly, but it disappears all the same and at the centre of the mirror is a radial slice of fog-free glass. She tilts and it's swallowed whole. A red splodge with nail polish shine.

Will it scar?

A permanent rupture in a perfect canvas. She should have been more careful. Mama always has to knock her hand before it makes contact. And everyday Sara sneaks her concealer in the school bathroom. “It'll pass,” she says, “as long as it doesn't scar.”

What if it scars?

Maria pulls the towel over her hand and sweeps a quick twenty-four hours. Her face is there. Brows furrowed. Lips gnawed. Skin rocky. A new one has grown overnight. A thumb tack pressing firmly into her vein.

You should switch face wash.

Don't worry, it'll get better with time.

But what about the scars?

The mirror has fogged again. Just the single point in the centre is clear now. Maria is no longer a blur. She is a blot.

Mad Scientist

Most bots thought of science as chemicals in beakers or mad engineers building time dilation devices.

They all ignored the subtle science of cybertronian anatomy.  The danger in a well designed pede and the poetry of a perfectly sculpted bumper.

The perfectly sculpted bumper in front of him, put stars in Jazz’s optics.  It was a perfect mixture of sleek and tough, expertly designed to balance speed and ramming ability.  The curve alone!  

Jazz was not, however, blindsided by a perfect bumper to the point that he ignored the rest of the gorgeous, gorgeous anatomy.  

Where to start?  Top or bottom.  Heh, ‘bottom.’

The mech’s pedes were not pretty in the same way his bumper was, but the sheer craftsmanship that had gone into them was dazzling.  Jazz watched each tiny hydraulic cylinder compress as the mech shifted from pede to pede, the shaft pressing inwards with the weight and easing out as he lifted his pedes.  It must have been like walking on air.  The moving parts, spinning and pumping and cranking, were dizzying to watch.

As his optics moved upwards, Jazz could see the cables and sensors peeking out from behind the armor plating.  Each leg was thick - heavily armored and strung with thick and thin cables.  It allowed the mech the choice of powerful gross movement or delicate precision.  Jazz felt an ache in his digits - he wanted to stroke his servos over those smooth shinplates and up those round thighs…

His hips were very wide - perfect for resting weight on be it his own or a partner’s.  While the mech was in pursuit the hip joints would take the heavy pounding if he was running.  Whatever bumps weren’t compensated for by the hydraulic suspension in his pedes, would be evenly distributed over his hips to reduce vibration and damage to his torso and sparkcase.

It seemed wrong at first, for the waist to be so small and trim compared to the generousness of his legs and hips.  However, as Jazz stared looked he realized the narrow waist gave him nearly 180 degree bend and twist.  The armor around his central column was made up of many interlocking plates, creating a thick, but flexible shield.  Flexibility was always…good.

Jazz shifted and bit down hard on his thumb, trying not to imagine that flexibility too much.

His chest was broad and deep.  Jazz had heard him speak and it was like a rumble of thunder.  His shoulders obviously held a trio of missile each, if the lines in his plating was any indication.  Yet they were so smooth and polished, it seemed impossible that they could transform.  Jazz imagined the plating folding out like a flower as the weapons sprung forward, hot and charged and -

Oh, he might need to step outside.  Jazz tried to discreetly increase his fans and pressed his back against the coolness of the window behind him.

His chest was impressive, not counting that perfect, perfect bumper.

The helm was striking.  Plain white, rounded, with cheek guards.  A single adornment - a sharp, red chevron - was the only flash of color.

His face, well, Jazz had always had a thing for the stoic type.  Pale blue optics and a stern mouth.  A chin that looked like it had taken a few hits - which only intrigued Jazz more.

Behind him, held stiffly, were the ultimate temptations.  If rumors were true, those elegant, thick doorwings were sensor rich.  Jazz wanted to locate each sensor and give it the attention it deserved.  Preferably while the mech was pinned on his front -

“Thermal-Blend with sprinkles for Jazz!” called the barista.  

Jazz wasn’t sure if it was good or terrible timing.  He felt a step away from combusting and he had a feeling the crowded cafe would notice something like that.

He had to be careful in the colonies.  It wasn’t as easy to disappear.  He had to leave behind his old profession and his old skills.  Things like that wouldn’t go unnoticed here.  Such few bots made patterns easier to see.

“Sorry,” he mumbled as he bumped into someone, holding his cube close to his chest so it didn’t spill.  He looked up.

Oh.  He didn’t think he’d get to study the bumped up close.

“It is alright.  You are new to this colony?”  

Jazz nodded, trying to keep his optics fixed on the other mech’s instead of letting them slip down to -

“Just left Cybertron last week.  Thought it would be a good change.”

“It is.  I am Captain of the Enforcers here.  If you need anything, you only need to ask.”

An Enforcer. Of course he was.  Built for combat and pursuit.  Scrap.

“Thanks.  We’ll probably be seein’ a lot of each other,” Jazz said, before his processor caught up with him.  He wasn’t supposed to be taunting the enforcers!

“Oh?”  The enforcer tilted his lovely helm.  “What is your function?”

Jazz looked the mech up and down as his processor ran a mile a minute.  Well, he had said he was going to go straight once he got to the colonies…

“Scientist,” Jazz said, leaning back against the door frame.  “I’m a scientist.”

is it a new start? - 6th August, 2023

waking up was hard today, but i managed it anyways.

mom was trynna wake me up since 7 am, then dad tried to wake me up at 8.

nothing worked. lol. i woke up at 11 am later. all alone at home. this is the first time in past month that i have woke up so late. probably cuz i was suffering from migraine.

i didn't have breakfast when i woke up. i just sat there for a while. then i took my phone and opened daraz to do nothing but scroll.

while scrolling i saw a mini thermal printer and i remembered that i want one.

i wanted it in a good price, but every product was too expensive on it's own. forget about free thermal paper rolls with them.

so i started a search on it, hoping to find something along the lines of what i want.

now i wouldn't say it. but almost miraculously i stumbled onto a store that was FULL of mini thermal printers. ngl i was happy that i found it cuz now all of them are from bangladesh, so i didn't have to worry about getting delivered a month later lol 💀

so now i went from the store's lowest price to highest price fiter and luckily i FOUND IT! i found one that sold the printer with 3 free thermal rolls in only 1810 bdt!

it was better than other products and stores in ALL factors. now i just needed to find a good thermal roll package 👀

AND guess how LUCKY i was in the morning! that store had thermal rolls too!

now that was not the best part. i had to find the best deal too. so i started searching anddddddddddddd the best deal i found was 10 thermal rolls at 448 bdt…. in normal price it was supposed to be 500 bdt, but the others were too expensive so it was the only reasonable price. but THEN i found ANOTHER package in their store that sold 20 thermal rolls at 553 bdt.

DID YOU HEAR THAT??? BRUH.

that was supposed to cost 1000 bdt but they ONLY PRICED IT 553 bdt! now that's a HUGE save.

now i went to the cart to see how much the total was.

ANOTHER good news. the delivery charge was FREE cuz the products were over 500 bdt from their store + i got 32 bdt extra discount lol.

so i thought "the delivery charge is free here, so i guess i could shop my nail polish from another store" and went on to the nailpolish store i was following.

i've been growing out my nails for the past 5 days, just cuz mom kept scolding me every now and then for literally finishing my nails by biting. it's not my fault cuz i bite my nails naturally whenever i think a lot. but tbh i fkn hate my own habit.

so anyways i went to the store and chose 4 nail polish that i thought would fit me and went back to cart.

ALSKFASLDFKASJFLASJKDFLK I WHAT-

the delivery charge was FREE from BOTH stores!!! PLUS they gave me a total of 100 bdt discount BRUH.

i swear i never found a better offer in my life. i WILL get this. no matter what.

but there were two things i had in mind-

i can't get these things SO easily like vini vidi vici. because the total was 3000 bdt and my mom DEFNITELY WON'T buy me so many things, that even SO expensive.

i didn't wanted these that easily either. i'd like a challenge.

so i waited till mom came home. we had snacks and all.

then i offered mom to buy me everything i have in cart if i can get good grades.

she said she wouldn buy not only what i have in cart BUT ALSO add MORE if i want to and she'll buy me EVERYTHING.

the only condition is - I have to get 80+ in ALL SUBJECTS in this model test.

welp. guess what. i accepted the offer in no hesitation.

now i MUST get 80+ in ALL my exams. nothing else fucking matters.

This week’s nail art is mildly disappointing.

I was in the mood to use thermal nail polish, so i tried mixing my red one with a blue linear holo thinking i would get a pretty blue-to-purple shift. Maybe I used too much of the blue because I wound up with just a blue-to-slightly-darker-blue shift that’s almost to subtle to notice in person and way too subtle for me to pick up on camera.

And then I thought it needed a little bit more, so I stamped some silver stars on top.

I wanted to share about this polish. Now I've been an OPI girl for years. I did use the OPI top coat and American Classics Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat. I still like OPI for their colors. But I was looking for a thermal color. For those who aren't familiar, thermal colors are like mood rings. They change color with the temperature. I found this one and the price was not too ridiculous so I tried it.

Now another thing I have trouble with is polish staying on. I had an accident when I was little and since then I can't keep polish on for more then a day or two. Even professionally done. I got my nails done for prom. By morning those suckers were in the cup they gave us with the date and theme of the prom. All of them were off.

But I gave this polish a try because I like thermals and I needed some pampering. 1 coat of base, 2 of polish and 1 of top coat.

No neat and even lines, that only happens when you have long nails. My hands are oddly cold and hot in pathes which makes for some odd colors but kind of cool. I took those pictures the day I did my nails. I looked at the date and cheated with an app for the math. 8 days. EIGHT WHOLE DAYS the polish managed to stay on.

So maybe if you have issues with your polish coming off, peeling, or are just into thermal polish like I am, go give this small company a try. They have other thermals besides the purple and green one. I went back and am awaiting several!

Today's nails have a tri thermal polish. So it goes from an aqua to a periwinkle to a cool toned dark purple. This is my first time using a thermal polish and they're really fun!

Now, I did run my hands under hot water for this but that’s because a) it’s winter here and it’s currently 58°F in my house and b) I have terrible circulation and my fingers are always cold, even in the summer, so thermals tend to not work on me specifically. 

But what I like about this is that, unlike other thermals I’ve tried, the darker color is the cold color so you get a reverse French-tip look. All my other thermals are reversed. 

So yeah, first photo is how it would look regularly on anyone other than me and the third photo is the slow ombre effect as my fingers returned to their normal icy state.
