I feel like I see a lot of people say that Kara’s behavior In Trinity (3x17) was out of character, and I wanna say I mostly agree, but also I don’t. A lot of what Kara was going through in season 3 was her trying to put up shields and be just the Girl Of Steel, and anything that could hurt her emotionally or physically she was shutting down. So it does make sense in a way why she reacted so strongly with Kryptonite this time around than she had previously, but the way she treated Lena was just so off that I can’t say it was entirely in character either. And I think that honestly a lot of why Kara was so hostile was that the writers were trying to amp up Lena and James, so they switched Kara and James’s role (Kara being the antagonist this time around, while James is the defender) but that’s mostly just a writing thing. In actual terms of character drive, it really doesn’t make sense. Up until that moment Kara was really pushing the “Lena isn’t just a Luthor, she’s not like them” motto, and I feel like Trinity destroyed a lot of that. Like what do you mean miss “Lena’s not a member of Cadmus!, But she’s not like them, But she didn’t do it!, now you have someone to believe in you always, are you kidding me!! The only thing Lena has done is help!!” (All just in Luthors (2x12) alone) was all “that’s not a great question for a Luthor to ask someone in my family” ??? And then went behind Lena’s back and had James break into her private vault cause she didn’t trust her??? To sum up, she would not fucking do or say any of that this woman SUPPORTS her wife thank you very much.

Just rewatched Trinity and boy oh boy does Supergirl and the DEO have a very loose definition of what "saving Julia" means. Supergirl and the DEO didn't save shit. Julia rose up and saved them, and died in process. If they're satisfied with that outcome then dear god please let Lena take over saving Sam...

I think I’ve decided why Kara acted the way she did in 3x17...

I mean I think it’s a plot device to push Lena and James together, but I mean I think I’ve decided how I’m gonna explain it...

When Kara has previously believed in Lena despite all evidence to the contrary, I think it’s not just blind faith in someone she cares about. Kara knows Lena, and she at least subconsciously knew she was telling the truth, so she’s always trusted her and Lena never let her down.

But then when Lena told her how she’d ‘got kryptonite from Lex but there was none left’ that was a lie, and Kara could feel it was a lie. She guessed wrong on which part, but she could tell.

So she lashes out, because Lena is supposed to never let her down, but now she doesn’t know what to think. How can she be sure of Lena’s motive with anything if she doesn’t trust her?

But then James ‘confirms’ that Lena was telling the truth about the only thing Kara could think of that Lena could be lying about, and suddenly Kara’s warm to Lena again, and ready to forgive and forget about Reign and using the kryptonite in the first place, because the thing she really cared about- that pesky feeling she was being lied to- has been proven false.

Any speculation on how 3x17 will be? Like in the promo they said something about an eclipse, Kara fainting...

So my guess is that there’s this eclipse. Kara finds that it’s affecting her powers, and she realizes that that means it would probably affect the Worldkillers powers as well. Therefore, she thinks this is the perfect moment to try to strike. Mon El, as we saw in the trailer, doesn’t like this idea one bit, but Kara’s stubborn and doesn’t budge. So instead, him and Imra (and Brainy on comms I’m assuming) there to help her in the battle. 

Not sure about the fainting part. My guess is that that’s how she realizes that the eclipse is affecting her.

It’s difficult for writers to deal with Kryptonian characters b/c they’re so fucking overpowered. So they just take every opportunity to depower them b/c that’s the only way to give them an actual challenge. I’m sure its even more frustrating to try to write as it is to watch sometimes

Like I’m glad to see James finally supporting Lena, I just wish he could have supported & trusted her before they shoved them into a underdeveloped relationship. And they’ve barely even spent anytime together since they got together (which I’m glad for b/c they’re cringy) but now he suddenly trusts her completely and more than Kara. Even though Kara and Lena have known each other/been friends longer and spent more time together and had their friendship tested before. Sigh, doesn’t make sense, but okay SG writers, just do whatever you want for drama. Consistency be damned
