So, something I should clarify for copyright reasons, 'I Remember' technically (emphasis on that) takes place in the continuity established by "Trollhunters: The Secret History of Trollkind", the comic published by Dark Horse Comics. It's not 100% a complete copy, but it definitely uses said comic and its counterpart 'The Felled' as a baseline. I'd for sure recommend giving them a read if you're interested, they're really solid installments and have the same feel as the books they tie into.

Speaking of which, a HUGE thank you to @itsmergb for allowing me to use their version of Skarlagk the Scorned, theirs is a really great design and take on the character, I'm still shivering with hype ^^

Course, it's thanks to the work of @undeadchestnut that this has been brought to life for our enjoyment, so another big thank you to her as well :)

The way ROTT ending completely negates the best episode of the series sigh

I will never stop complaining about this movie, sorry.

It also just completely negates what we learned in For the Glory of Merlin episode as well as just them meeting Merlin who goes "Oh, yeah, hi James... wait, why you so young?"

Merlin is established to have chosen Jim as the final Trollhunter from the fucking start.

The amulet didn’t “call to Toby”. Toby just went there because Jim told him to. This is not destiny, it’s bad writing.

We also learned in Unbecoming that when Jim tried to get the amulet after school, it wasn't there. Draal had already got it somehow. So Toby getting it after school doesn't make sense, it would already be with Draal.

Even Trollhunters books confirmed that Jim is THE Trollhunter of the series.

In Age of the Amulet book Jim helped and inspired Gogun the Gentle to become a Trollhunter, resulting in him becoming one of the bravest Trollhunters to ever wield the Amulet (Kanjigar looked up to Gogun’s noble example btw). He was taught by Jim how to fight. He restored order and he was the only known Trollhunter to die from old age. In the book Gogun said that Jim  brought light to another dark age. 

And in Wizards timeline he’s able to befriend Deya and push her into the right direction, resulting in her becoming the first Trollhunter.

Most of Jim’s actions in the past are what result in Trollhunters even happening, and if he hadn’t been there, they would’ve ended up ruining the future. 

He’s literally “The Once and Future Trollhunter”.

And now i hate ROTT movie even more because it was stated over and over again (in the books and in Wizards) that YOU CAN'T CHANGE HISTORY.

btw the books writers are smarter than the movie writers.

Was anyone supposed to tell me that there was a book about Jim's time in the Darklands, or was I meant to figure that out myself.

Spoilers for said book under the cut.

I just finished reading it. And holy hell.

Jim needs therapy. Oh, my god.

There's so many thoughts going on in my brain right about now that I can't even begin to comprehend. Like, so many things that I didn't expect to happen happened.

I thought Jim and Rob would eventually get along with each other. Turns out, he freaking kills the guy. I don't blame him because Rob was trying to kill him but like. The way he did it too. It was so just. *stares at my hands*

Not to mention the whole thing with Scarlagk. Or however you spell her name. The way she wanted to kill all the babies. That whole thing entirely.

And those whips that Jim got??? That was sick as hell. And the way he was so angry, so edgy, so just... Not Jim.

Again, I get it. It's the Darklands. It taints people. He went through hell and back in that forsaken place. Adding onto everything that he went through in the show too is so like. So very much. I don't even know how to process these emotions and feelings but I'm just sitting here like. What does he tell his friends. How would that conversation go with the book involved.

I want to write about that.

If you’ve seen the series but haven’t read the trollhunters books i beg of you please do because they are WILD

There are new characters. There’s expansion on beloved side characters. There’s cute ship moments. There’s LOTS OF GRIEF THEMES.

I came across this image by Alfonso Blass the other week and it left me wondering about something. At first glance here we have Steve, Strickler, strange lady, Nana Domzalski, strange man, Jim, Eli and Dr. Muelas. I have checked the art book and both strange lady and man aren't there. Neither that pic of Jim, so... Maybe i'm over analyzing, but i think that's not Eli and Jim. I think that's Jim's father and uncle. And strange man could be Jim's father grown up. Same eye color and same shape of the nose as the kid. Big ears too. He looks stressed out just like in the book. Jack is the one that's supposed to be riding the red bike and Jim the yellow one though. Older kid does look tall, just like Jack was described. If he stood up he could be as tall as the man. The Band-aid in the little kid's glasses, just as Jim was described in the book,... Strange lady,... i wonder if that was supposed to be Nomura or Barbara.

things from the books I wanna see more in TOA/Trollhunters fan works

books and show spoilers ahead (obviously)

- DRAAL AND KANJIGAR REUNITED IN THE VOID IT MAKES ME CRY

- SIR BARKS A LOT for one book Jim had a kinda pet wolf puppy who is the most adorable thing

- the moonlight armor, it was brief but SO COOL like give me more Troll Jim with a long bow and armored wolf companion

- Rob. the friend/betrayer/enigma fireball dude from the darklands. absolutely wild

- all the stuff from Arcadia-Con. give me fanart of Aja in the Sally Go Back cosplay because she slayed

- Barbara Lake being an absolute badass. we got a bit of it in the show but I need more of her book energy. Let her jump Merlin and beat him up. Drag him by the beard more.

- Jim mid transforming from human to troll, I feel like there’s some body horror opportunities there. Also let him have a lisp for longer. Gimme werewolf jokes.

- BABY DRAAL. AND BALLUSTRA. AND KANJIGAR. THEY WERE A WHOLE FAMILY FOR A BRIEF TIME.

- more Kanjigar and Jim interactions. They can talk in the void. They can hug.
