How do you say Lily or any other flowers? Very curious.
Hey! there are two options for this.
Simple
The easiest way is to say the flower's name in English as a loan word, quite literally.
Eihe ca lily. ↪ I have a lily.
This is perfectly fine and an easy get-out to any flower with a complicated name.
Complex
The more complex way involves describing the flower itself.
Identify the Flower's Key Characteristic: Determine the flower's main feature or two main features, such as its habitat, size, shape, blooming season, and any notable effects or aromas. This is your prefix.
Insert 'Liazu': Liazu means flower; without it, you're just listing random characteristics. You can also swap liazu out for other applicable agents like 'tree' etc., but that's for another day.
Select Appropriate Suffixe/s (if required): Choose suffixes from the list that best match the flower's characteristics. This is optional. If you're adding this, stick an apostrophe between liazu and whatever follows, and capitalise each one.
Combine Elements: Put it all together, and you'll end up with something like this:
Ca metyliazu'ApyAriz. ↪ A weird-shaped flower (which is) thorny and deadly.
Through this, you can create any flower, real or imagined.
Ca wilrikiliazu'GiluNyk. ↪ A large, medicinal flower (which) blooms in the forest during spring.
This is, of course, a long-hand version that's very descriptive. You can strip it all down to something less long and point at the flower in context.
Context: You're pointing at a sunflower. Qi fonaliazu. ↪ That yellow flower.
Some vocab below (not exhaustive)
Ecological Niches or Characteristics:
niku: Blooms in desert or arid environments
kink: Blooms in cold or frosty conditions
gilu: Blooms in forested or woodland areas
hoka: Blooms in air-loving or it's epiphytic

lok: Summer-blooming
hok: Autumn-blooming

ail: Small or delicate
jush: Fragrant
apy: Thorny or spiky
uska: Bright/colourful

for the bad things happen bingo, tybalt/paris with cradling someone in their arms
Prompt: cradling someone in their arms
Fandom: Romeo et juliette
Ship: tyris
@badthingshappenbingo
A different take of how the meeting could have gone in the exchange fic, when tybalt goes to Mantua. The one I couldn't keep cause there's nothing fluffy in having Paris half dead. ❤️
But the ending is good, because it would still follow the main fic.
I hope you like it, even if it's short. 💖💖
***
Everytime he closed his eyes screams were all Paris could hear. Out of pain, agony, fear. What was truly worse was that he could recognize every single voice he heard scream, even if just in his mind. Because they all were voices he knew, voices he still knows, present tense, because they were alive. Weren't they? Of course, they had to be, alive.
But screams wasn't the only thing he heard in those moment. There was the smell of burning woods, of fire approaching them, fast and unstoppable, he felt its heat on his skin, he felt the burns still not fully healed on his arm sting at the memory.
But it was not only that, obviously it wasn't. He was laying somewhere uncomfortable and hard, like a rocky ground, uneven and dry, there were footsteps all around him, heavy, light, all kinds, papers being moved, thrown around, voices talking, sometimes whispers, sometimes sighs or yells. He couldn't make out a single word, nor he could recognize their voices.
Enemies? Had he been captured? No… HeHe was always so careful, even more in battle. Capture him would give Venice the upper hand in the fight, he couldn't have them. He had people to protect. Soldiers. A whole city made of innocents. He had a duty, he couldn't just let them take him like this, like he was some kind of damsel in distress.
"they're going to be the one in distress." he thought.
Still he couldn't bring himself to open his eyes, no matter how much he hated keeping them close, he was just too tired.
Getting inside the military camp wasn't as easy as people usually thought, not that tybalt ever thought he would do that one day. Night, to be precise, it was still night, too early to be called even morning. Despite the hour, he still tried to get in, get past the guards and toward the tent he knew was Paris'.
He reached the tent, in truth, just not as he hoped. Because two guards twice his size - not that it would be hard, for how tall he may be he was also quite small. - stopped him in his little, careful stroll and all but dragged him there despite all his protests of not being an enemy of some kind and only wanting to have a word with Paris in private, claiming it was absolutely important, vital even.
Because if there was one thing tybalt knew of a war, be it only a small battle or a bigger thing, was how unpredictable it could be. How fate could change with the blow of the wind. How men died so easily, like children during a too harsh winter. He had to see Paris, fix the mess that happened at the party, apologize, make up for what he said and he never meant to.
But maybe he was late.
Tybalt felt that pain in his heart before, almost all the days the prince said his older nephew wouldn't be present to one of their balls, for two years straight. And still tybalt hoped every time, every day, party after party. He had almost been tempted to ask mercutio if he knew more of those battles, if he had contacts with his cousin, if he knew how he was. He never did it. That would expose too much they both fought hard to keep secret. And every time that pain, like a sting in his heart, grew bigger, more painful, until tybalt learned to ignore it.
No, he didn't.
There was a small cot in the back of the tent, with dotry white blankets, and gauzes laying abandoned on a small table, red with blood.
And there was Paris, turning and tossing and trashing on the bed, risking to pull open the stitches again, covered in sweat and burning with fever.
Suddenly tybalt realized he never felt fear before in his life. Not before this.
He took a step closer, the hand keeping him disappeared, - because while their methods were hard and blunt and violent they still knew him. - another step, and another until he was next to the bed.
He sat by it, taking Paris in his arms as gently as he could, brushing a strand of hair from his forehead and wincing at the heat.
And he didn't let go. Not when people went inside to change the bandages, not when trumpets sounded a new charge, not when París looked da ed at him and called him a "dream of someone who would never come there for him after what happened". Tybalt kept holding him gently as the camp descended in silence.
There would be time to explain and apologize, time to regain a trust that may have been broken, or maybe not, time to see a new day rising. There would be time.
He hoped.

Worlds Apart (Ch.5)
Pairing: Ramsay Bolton X Reader
Summary:  You were born in a world filled with magic. He was not. You were born with two parents who loved you. He was not. Now, he attends the same school as you and wants everything you have–including your life.
As the daughter of Jack frost and Queen Elsa, you know to be afraid of magic. As the son of Pitch black, Ramsay knows everyone should be afraid of him.
Words: 1107 // Ao3 Link // Chapter One,Chapter Two, Chapter Three // Chapter Four
Tumblr media
That night you held yourself hostage in your room shared with Navi. The dormitory was much different than what you had back home. You had all of the rooms to yourself. Here, you shared space. It closed in slowly on you like the anxiety this morning. You were going to place a call to Rapunzel in the morning. There’s no way you can go to school here after what happened today.
You held the pillow tight to yourself and tried not to think of all of the negative words your peers were saying behind your back. Freak. Witch. Evil thing. It wasn’t the names that scared you. It was the loneliness that followed. No one seemed to understand who you were. Who your parents were.
Your eyes narrowed on the window. You watched the slow frost branch out on the glass. Each intricate design was unique. It was a slow beauty to watch it fog and blur the window. Then, a shadow passed by. You sat up straight. Your eyes hyper focused on the shadow person now sitting on Navi’s bed. A familiar mantra came to mind.
“It’s not real. None of it is real.”
“I’m afraid I am,” said a voice. The darkness answered back.
“Navi. This isn’t funny.”
“I’m not Navi.” You froze on the spot. You could feel your shaky breath and your hands warmed despite how badly you wanted them to stay cold. You needed weapons. You needed the cold to defend yourself. “I’m not here to hurt you.”
“What do you want?” you reached to your lamp. The figure stiffened. “Oh? You don’t like the light, do you?”
“If you promise you won’t turn that on, I promise you no harm. Is that a deal, clever witch?” the boy spat like his voice was poisonous. You kept your hand near the lamp, and relief washed over your anxiety once more.
“What do you want?” you asked again.
“Tell me about yourself.”
“You came here for a conversation?”
“I came here for information. You’re the one who caused all the hullabaloo, right?”
“If you’re here to mock me, then go ahead. See if I care.”
The shadow boy shook his head and chuckled. “No, you’re misunderstanding me. I told you. I’m here for information. What made you do that? Why are you afraid of bunnies?”
“How do you know that?” You stood up and walked forward towards the opposite side of the room. Navi’s bed was a bit unkempt, but all of her things were put away unlike yours. The shadowy figure stood up as well, meeting your enthusiasm to find out who you were. He seemed more curious about you than everyone else here.
“I know a lot of things, Princess. Is it cold where you’re from?”
He tried intimidating you, but you were smart. He knew you were a princess, sure, but you weren’t one of the popular ones. You’ve been in hiding this whole time.
“You’re not from here. You’re from the Island with the rest of the awful ones.” You saw a smile in the void.
“Oh yes. I’m one of those awful ones. You know what I can do?”
“No. Show me.”
“I already have.”
The realization hit you like a winter storm. It hurt and twisted in your throat. Words were not easy to come by, but your eyes stayed on his.
“It was you. You showed me that. That poor, dead thing. Why? What do you want?”
“Tell me about your magic.”
“Go away.”
“I’m not leaving until you tell me.”
“You really are awful.” Your face cringed at the present company. “Why should I tell you anything? I don’t trust you and I don’t know who you are.”
“Babadook. My proper name is Ramsay. Your turn.”
“Y/N of Arendelle. I’m—
“Arendelle? You’re the Cold One.”
“What? What do you mean?”
“On the Isle of the Lost, sometimes we speak code. We use different names for people. I’ve heard about you. You’re stormborn cold. You have your parents’ powers, just as I have my father’s.” Ramsay explained.
“What about your mother?” you asked.
“Never had one,” Ramsay’s fingers brushed over ta handle on Navi’s dresser. “As you can imagine, I haven’t had a lot.”
“So what do you want with me then? You keep not answering that question.” Your patience grew thin. The boy who pranked you earlier demanded your company and asked you questions for what? So he could stroke his ego?
“Some other time. I have to leave now.” He started for the window, but before you could protest your cousin came back into the room and turned her lamp on. She chewed on a sweet cupcake.
“Why are you sitting in the dark? You don’t like the dark. Your things! Why haven’t you unpacked yet?”
“I’m going back home. I can’t be here—
“So you had an embarrassing moment today. Psh! Your cousin is the most popular guy here. Freddy will fix everything. I will kick ass if one person comes up to you and—Yeah. It was only a moment. Please stay. I was really excited to have you here. Someone who can finally understand me when Freddy takes too long—
--doing his hair!” you finished the sentence and giggled with your cousin. Both of you turned to your boxes and unpacked them one by one. Slowly, your things found their place. Your dorm no longer looked like a stack of boxes in a corner, but a home.
Outside, Ramsay roamed the grounds freely. He never felt such freedom in his life. The air he breathed was clean. The trees and grass were healthy. He looked up to see real stars in the night sky. The sky wasn’t this inspiring at home. Home was green and murky and dark. Here, he could see the moon. The moon?! She was so big. Her moonlight guided Ramsay around the school grounds. How beautiful she was.
And how ungrateful those brats were for spending their time inside, instead of looking up at the sky. They didn’t know what they had. Ramsay was going to take it from them. The Cold One proved how powerful she was. He could gather others. Pretend to be their friends. Have them turn on their own. Have them scared of one another.
He looked back up at the window where she was. Lights were on, but not much movement. He would remember where Y/N’s window was.
“The Cold One,” he said aloud. “My father told me you were much scarier. Then again, you do have a bite to you, don’t you ice witch? I wonder what you’re really hiding.”

Ekektos, The Province of Ambition
Physical Description: Between the high moors of the north, and the ancient oak forests of the south, Ekektos is one of the most picturesque provinces. The natural beauty is well preserved from the eternal march of civilization by churches, who own large swaths of 'the Creator's unspoiled art', and nobles who enjoy hunting on their vast, country estates. The Ekektan population is evenly spread between rural and urban areas. Most people's homes and businesses are made from long cedar and oak planks, with colorful, cloth skylights, carved, wooden columns, and huge, airy, lattice-walled rooms. Ekektans tend to build big and with a sense of spartan grandeur. Nobles import cream-colored marble for their palaces, and decorate with richly dyed curtains, gold trim, and massive, open windows. This decadent bent is apparent in the spectacular public architecture. Towering, painted statues of the gods loom at every corner. Fountains squirt water in timed displays. And of course, there's the crown jewel of any Ekektan city, it's colosseum.
Cultural Description: Ekektos bridges the gap between decadence and drive. Here, something isn't worth doing if you can't do it all the way. This philosophy creates an equal measure of beauty and depravity, both in magnificent quantities. Ekektos's unparalleled public works, their man-made, province-wide canal system for example, in contrast to their massive slave population, are proof of this mindset in action. There is a permeating violence in Ekektan culture. Blood-sport of wildly popular, and clan fueds can last for many generations. Despite this undercurrent of combat, woman aren't encouraged to serve in the military, or be physically aggressive in general. It still happens, but out of the public eye. Adoption is becoming more acceptable here, even among the highest of nobility. Though even with some progress in other directions, Ekektos is still one of the most racist provinces in the Republic. Their slave population is huge and very separated from the working class humans, as opposed to in Tsuki-ko, where slaves and peasants work elbow to elbow. This leads to a big disconnect between slaves and the lowest of humans, one that doesn't exist in other provinces. But one thing overrides all social prejudices, and that's gold. The high society of Ekektos is one of the most Machiavellian out there, and everything has its price. Money smothers all scandals, and even if not, publicity is publicity. Simply put, the attitude of Ekektos is to apply 'go big or go home' in any possible situation.
Food: Ekektos is decidedly not a vegetarian province. Most of their meat is hunted locally and eaten very rare. They also have arguably the finest wines in the Republic. They like exotic food, even the poor will save up to buy imported Nabafyrian tyri, or Unitian sweet rice. For a place that discriminates so heavily against Southerners, they sure like Southern food. As an aside, they also have really good street food.
Clothes: Nobles of both sexes wear togas of various styles, though men tend to wear vibrant, long sleeved jackets over their robes. Women opt for richly embroidered headresses and lots of jewelry. The lower classes wear loose tunics over knee-length shorts, switching to thick leggings in the winter. Tall sandels are popular across all classes.
Media: The entertainment that Ekektos is best know for is blood-sport. Anyone who wishes to fight as a gladiator may, but colosseums are mostly stocked with trained slaves. Any slave who wins a city title is set free, so they tend to be quite motivated in the ring. Death for the looser is a pretty good motivator too. Different gladiatorial 'traveling teams' will tour Ekektos, fighting the, typically more skilled, 'colosseum teams.' The colosseum is an easily accessible and cheap form of entertainment. Most Ekektans take great pride in their provincal sport and local teams. Betting is both common and encouraged. Along with blood-sport, Ekektans also enjoy theatre, tragedies especially.
Money and Industry: Ekektos makes most of its money off of the slave trade. They buy low from Unity and sell high to the rest of the Republic. They also make money off of their vineyards. Most of the money goes to public works, which employs a large number of people. Ekektos has some of the best roads and irrigation systems in the Republic. They have also connected their entire province with artificial canals and portal halls, built grand temples in the cities and in the distant wilds, and set traps to clear beasts out of old, pre-Republic bunkers. They're always up to something.

Summertime, un film de Carlos López Estrada
Tumblr media

Off-Highway Vehicle Lighting Market Dynamics (including market size, share, trends, forecast, growth, forecast, and industry analysis)
The ongoing transformation in the European norms to accustom the latest technologies with the better safety obligations led by the amplified road speed has raised the demand. This included lodging the LED light source in the vehicle exceeding 2,000 lumens, which has improves the safety and has accounted to be the most prominent driver responsible for the growth of the Off-Highway Vehicle Lighting Market. The rigorous norms concerned with automotive vehicles and the constant innovations will further strengthen the market size.  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) stated that approximately 45 percent of 2018 model vehicles are countered with high beam assist technology, which has supplemented the market growth. Furthermore, the strategic initiatives by leading players such as product launches have proliferated the market growth. Tyri, in November 2009, divulged a new heavy vehicle lighting system called intelliLight that works on the principle of a wireless mesh network. The lights are connected via Bluetooth in a closed network, confederated with the vehicle that can easily be controlled with the help of an app. However, the inflated cost of LEDs will hamper the Off-Highway Vehicle Lighting market share.

The Weekend Warrior 7/9/21 - BLACK WIDOW, SUMMERTIME, THE LONELIEST WHALE and More
Well, well... It certainly looks like I’ve been given a bit of a “bye week” to recuperate and recover from all the insanity of June, huh? The 4th of July weekend saw a nice boon for Universal Pictures with the top 3, although The Boss Baby: Family Business ended up doing better than The Forever Purge despite the former also being on Peacock. But neither of them really got great reviews, so I’m not sure either of them will have much impact on this week’s big release…
BLACK WIDOW (Marvel Studios/Disney)!
Tumblr media
Yes, after nearly two years, Marvel Studios is back in theaters with the long-awaited solo movie for Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff, who has appeared in the movies going back to Iron Man 2, also played a key role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as three of the Avengers movies. The Black Widow movie goes back in time to after the events of Captain America: Civil War and before (SPOILER!) Romanoff was killed in Avengers: Infinity War. This one reunites her with her family including Florence Pugh as her sister Yelena, as the two of them want to take down the Red Room where they were trained to be killers. It also stars David Harbour as the Red Guardian and Rachel Weisz as their maternal figure, and honestly, you probably don’t even need that much to know that you probably already want to see it, because IT’S MARVEL!
It’s actually hard to believe that Black Widow is Marvel’s first theatrical release since 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, and obviously, that wasn’t supposed to be how things went. Marvel’s original release date for the movie was kicking off the summer of 2020, but when COVID hit and theaters were closed, it was delayed, first until the end of the year and then until the summer of 2021. It must have been difficult because Marvel had already planned a series of television series that led into the movies, including Wandavision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and the currently-airing Loki.
Marvel’s first theatrical release in two years currently has a relatively decent 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, which for comparison’s sake is a better rating than Captain Marvel and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that’s about it. I mean, at least it’s not stinking up Marvel’s track record like Iron Fist and The Inhumans did, so there’s that. I’ve already reviewed the movie, so you can read what I thought about it here.
More important than any other factor, there’s the Disney+ in the room, because Disney decided to offer Black Widow for a Premium on its streaming service this Friday, basically for $30, which I’m not sure if that’s for a certain amount of time or to own (which would make more sense). That’s a pretty sweet deal if you have a family and a nice home theater, because taking them all to the movies might cost $100 or more with concessions, etc. But for a lot of people, it’s long past time to get back to theaters, and despite the success of the Disney+ shows, many will want to see this on the big screen. At least that’s my theory, and I’m gonna stick with it until I’m proven wrong when numbers come in on Friday or Saturday.
It’s very hard to determine how many of the millions of people who went to see Avengers: Endgame over two years ago are ready to get back into theaters, but one benefit that Black Widow has over other upcoming Marvel movies (okay, well, Shang-Chi) is that Johansson’s character is a known commodity from previous movies, which certainly could have helped Tom Holland’s solo Spider-Man movies, although you would think that Spider-Man: Far from Home would have opened bigger following Endgame. To be fair, the Spider-Man movies were opening with over $100 million WELL before the MCU, showing the popularity of the character, although we also could see a bump with the second Captain America and Thor movies after their appearance in 2012’s The Avengers. Oddly, 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp didn’t see nearly as big an opening bump following Avengers: Infinity War from the first movie, but Ant-Man hadn’t been as big a player as Natasha/Black Widow. Oddly, the Spider-Man and Ant-Man movies have something in common -- they both opened in July vs. May.
The other factor, of course, is COVID and whether a movie can open even bigger than the $70 million opening weekend of F9, currently the biggest post-pandemic opener. If anything is going to do it, then it’s going to be a Marvel movie, especially one that should be as big a draw for women as for men. No, we don’t subscribe to the myth that female-led action movies don’t do as well as males ones. The MCU is all about the characters and the universe, and those factors should help Black Widow should be good for somewhere around $80 to 85 million over the weekend, which will make it the new barometer for the post-pandemic. (Incidentally, this is only about $11 million less than my original prediction from last March, and that didn’t have the COVID or streaming factor in play.)
Hey, you know what I haven’t done in a long time but probably should resume?
MY TOP 10 BOX OFFICE PREDICTIONS!
1. Black Widow (Marvel/Disney) - $84.3 million N/A
2. F9 (Universal) - $9.6 million -58%
3. The Boss Baby: Family Business (Universal/DreamWorks Animation) - $9 million -45%
4. The Forever Purge (Universal) - $5.7 million -54%
5. A Quiet Place Part II (Paramount) - $2.2 million -45%
6. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard (Lionsgate) - $1.4 million -55%
7. Cruella (Disney) - $1.3 million -47%
8. Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (Sony) - $1.2 million -42%
9. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (New Line/WB) - $600k -57%
10. In the Heights (New Line/WB) - $550k -43%
Although one can expect big drops all around, this should be another weekend where the top 10 domestic grosses $100 million, but that’s kind of a given with Black Widow likely to make much of that itself.
Tumblr media
I guess this week’s “Chosen One” is SUMMERTIME (Good Deed Entertainment), directed by Carlos Lopez Estrada (Blindspotting, Raya and the Last Dragon), which is a pseudo-doc, pseudo-narrative that follows 27 Angelino poets in a typical day in Los Angeles. I’m not really a poetry or spoken word fan so much, but the way that these talented poets are showcased, each in their own compelling segment. While having some kind of interconnecting story might not have been necessary, it’s actually what keeps you invested as you go from one situation and style of poetry onto the next. You can tell that there are some real stars of the future in this that will likely appear elsewhere. There are just so many great numbers from Tyris Winter complaining abut the price of food at a restaurant, Mila Cuda expressing her sexuality on the bus to an obvious homophobe, a couple at a marriage counselor relaying their issues through song and rap, an amazing dance number, and so much more. My favorite running storyline was the one involving street rappers Anewbys (Bryce Banks) and Rah (Austin Antoine), who are trying to make it. The incidental music is great, and the performances are embellished with cinema verité style shots of L.A. that really helps enhance the mood and set the environment for the story being told. It’s hard to call Summertime a musical, but there’s so much great rhymes and music that it just has a great youthful energy that seems so perfect for this time of the year.
You can read my interview with Estrada over at Below the Line later today.
Streaming now on Disney+ is the first episode of the new Pixar series Monsters at Work, based on the characters from one of my favorite Pixar movies, Monsters Inc., with new episodes airing every Wednesday.
Tumblr media
Joshua (Cropsy) Zeman’s doc THE LONELIEST WHALE: THE SEARCH FOR 52 (Bleecker Street), exec. produced by Leonardo DiCaprio hits theaters on Friday and then will be on digital July 16. Oddly, it’s the second movie in the last month about whales. This one is about the search for the 52 Hertz Whale that was discovered in 1989 and has become a global sensation as it lives in solitude, emitting a different frequency from other whales and therefore unable to communicate.
I have to admit that I was quite cynical about this movie, mainly because it looked like it could potentially be boring, as we watch and listen to a bunch of oceanographers talking about whales, and I was mostly right. Zeman himself is not the most interesting subject or narrator for his own doc, so that doesn’t help much either. Essentially, the entire movie is this group of rag-tag oceanographers (as well as a musician who plays clarinet with the whales -- yeah, he should be thrown overboard first, I’m thinking) looking for this elusive whale that no one has seen since 1989. As you can imagine, it’s a fairly fruitless expedition that makes you miss the excitement of Ron Howard’s whale movie, but if you’re just watching this to see beautiful whales in their natural habitat, the movie does deliver. I’m sure the less cynical than myself will find more interesting aspects of the film to enjoy, and yes, this is a far superior film to the recent Fathom, but it also shares lots of potentially interesting facts about whales and their history, which doesn’t make it a complete loss.
I have to imagine that The Loneliest Whale should be appreciated as a fine nature doc if you’re into this sort of thing, but if you’re looking for something particularly groundbreaking or moving, you’ll have to search elsewhere.
Judd Ehrlich’s doc THE PRICE OF FREEDOM (Tribeca Studios) takes on the gun debate and how the National Rifle Association has divided the nation and cost countless lives along the way. The movie features the likes of President Bill Clinton, activist (and Parkland survivor) X Gonzalez, Senator Chris Murphy, Representatives Jason Crow and Lucy McBath, and many more on both sides of the gun debate.
Also opening on Friday in theaters and virtual cinema is the Tunisian horror film DACHRA (Dekanalog), written and directed by Abdelhamid Bouchnak, which follows three journalism students as they investigate a cold case which takes them deep into the woods.
Netflix launched its “Fear Street” franchise last week based on the book series by R.L. Stine, and this week, the second movie, FEAR STREET PART 2: 1978 (Netflix), debuts on the streamer. I’ve actually seen Fear Street Part 1: 1994, and it’s a fun little slasher set in the town of Shadyside, the “Killer Capitol of the USA.” I honestly had no idea these were Rated R, since I thought it was more of a young adult type thing, but it’s really straight-up Wes Craven Scream. I might have to check out some of these books, but the first movie was quite enjoyable even if they generally seem derivative of other slashers.
Also, Eytan Fox’s Sublet, which has been playing in select theaters will now be available to Watch At Home via Apple TV, Prime Video, Vudu, FandangoNOW, Google Play, YouTube and DIRECTV. Also, Ivan Kavanagh’s horror film, Son, will be on Shudder this Thursday so if you missed it in theaters and VOD, now’s your chance to see it, and you can read my interview with Mr. Kavanagh over at Below the Line.
Oh, and TONIGHT at the Metrograph, as part of their Live Screening Series, they’ll be showing Rashaad Ernesto Green’s Gun Hill Road (2011) as part of their FIrst Film Series with the Green Brothers, which will be followed next week by the first film from his brother, Reinaldo Marcus Green.
And that, my friends, is it for this week! Next week, we have SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY from Warner Bros., and that’s about it! (Well, there will be a lot more limited releases, as well a Emmy nominations, so back to the grind!)
