Air Fryer Chocolate Cake with Nectarines
Since I was given a Landmann Fryton Barbecue in August 2023, I have been itching to try out the built-in air fryer. Of course, being me, I couldn’t just air fry some French fries like a normal person, I had to make it more creative. Once I decided on a chocolate cake, I concluded that I ought to serve it warm with chocolate sauce since I’d be baking it during a barbecue. It did take me 5…

The UK has had the warmest start to May on record, with 29.3C registered on Thursday afternoon at Kew Gardens in south-west London, as firefighters battled a 1.6 mile (2km) moorland blaze that broke out near Ripponden, West Yorkshire the same day.
According to the National Fire Chiefs Council, as of 9am on 1 May, fire and rescue services have responded to 439 wildfires since 1 January. That compares with 250 in the same period in 2022, 60 in 2023 and 44 in 2024.
People were asked to avoid the Merrivale and Okehampton areas for the time being, and Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service said the fire might behave unpredictably due to the changing weather.
The fire service posted an update to X on Monday evening saying: “Approximately 12,500 acres of moorland were destroyed by fire” but the figure was later corrected to 1,230 acres.
The post added: “Crews assisted by Dartmoor rangers and Commoners using firefighting equipment attempted to extinguish the fire to protect the environment.
Dartmoor national park posted a photo of the fire to X on Monday morning, saying: “The dry weather has left Dartmoor highly vulnerable to fire. Please don’t light BBQs or fires.”
Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service’s area manager, Simon Young, told the BBC: “Wildfires are always challenging because they are inaccessible for our appliances to go on to our moorland,” he said.
“It makes it very difficult, but we have specialist vehicles to make sure we have capability to get on to the moor and make sure we can do the job as safely as possible.
“The wind has really played its part and we are currently under amber wildfire conditions nationally for the next three to four days.
“We know the conditions are very dry under foot and with the wind it has just exacerbated it.”

Eight Easy Padron Pepper Recipes
Easy Padron Pepper Recipes: Once relegated to the back corners of Spanish tapas menus, Padron peppers have now charged onto the global food scene with all the confidence of a British stag do in Ibiza. Why? Because they’re unpredictable little green divas. About one in ten packs can give a proper wallop of heat — like culinary Russian roulette (we used to do the Chillax Chilli Challenge) — but they’ve got a smoky, savoury charm that keeps people coming back for more, and more, and more.

Whether tossed in a hot pan with olive oil or sprinkled over pizza like rebellious jalapeños with Spanish accents, Padrons have become supermarket staples from Barcelona to Margate (yes, my home town). No surprise, then, that Brits now spend more than ever on Spanish produce, with Padron peppers leading the spicy stampede to our plates. How about that?

Esquina Restaurant Review HERE
What is special about Padron Peppers?
This is the Spanish food Brits have been obsessed with in 2025 as sales soar across UK supermarket chains. Waitrose has seen a massive 215% jump in searches for ‘Spanish foods’ compared to this time last year — and leading the charge is a humble green wonder making waves at British barbecues and laid-back garden dinners.
This Spanish staple, famed for its gently salty flavour and no-fuss cooking style, fits into anything from a tapas table to a rained-off BBQ in the back-garden. Quick to cook and dangerously moreish once blistered and hit with sea salt, Oilive oil and lemon (my total favourite) the Padron Pepper is the kind of snack that disappears before it hits the plate.
Simple, sociable, and packed with Spanish charm, it’s now edging its way onto grills up and down the UK as the summer’s unexpected MVP: so because Summer lasts one day in the UK, I’d hurry up to get yours in due to the bulk-buy!!!
The Winery Siglap Review HERE
These little green firecrackers, officially called Pementos de Padrón, come from the quaint town of the same name in Galicia, up in Spain’s northwest corner.
Legend has it that Franciscan monks brought the seeds back from the Americas, where the Aztecs had been growing them for centuries — probably while wondering why the rest of us hadn’t caught on yet. I love a good Monk: great job mates…
What do you do with Padron Peppers?
So what’s all the fuss about? Maybe it’s the simplicity. Maybe it’s the drama. Maybe it’s the fact they look great on Instagram next to a chilled glass of Sangria. Whatever the reason, these peppers are having a bit of a moment — and frankly, we’re here for it. What makes these peppers such a winner is their sheer flexibility.

So, dear readers, grab your frying pan, a pinch of salt, and a bandana for your forehead — it’s time to play with fire, and Islifearecipe is giving you, not one, but eight of the simplest Padron Pepper Recipes you could ever imagine. Let’s get to it though with the eight we have for now:
Eight Easy Padron Pepper Recipes
Classic Blistered Padron Peppers: How to cook Padron Peppers frying pan
This recipe is the classic and easiest ways of how to cook Padron Peppers frying pan style. Simply toss your peppers in a hot pan coated with olive oil until their skins bubble and blacken in looks like they’ve just seen you in a pair of speedos. Give a good drizzle of some seriously good EVOO (extra virgin olive oil), and sprinkle a handful of flaky salt on top, toss again — then serve. Simple. Sexy. Spanish. This is the iconic dish called Pimientos de Padrón.
Do me a favour try them naked like this as a basic Blistered Padron Peppers Recipe. Then cut some fresh lemon wedges and squeeze some lemon juice over. Now take a bite of another pepper and tell me what you think. Did that just go KAPOW in your mouth and elevate to next depth or what? Spanish Padron Pepper Angels would be strumming their little food harps right about now, if you tried this. This is a must-try, folks. WOOF!!!
Padron Pepper & Manchego Toast
Grill your Padron Peppers until smoky, chop them slightly, and scatter over toasted sourdough slathered with Manchego cheese, which you have grilled. Drizzle with honey for that sweet-salty punch, and maybe a squeeze of lemon and pinch of flaked sea salt. It’s basically Spain shouting, “Oi!”
Cheeky Padron and Garlic Pasta
Cook spaghetti to Al Dente in salted water. Meanwhile fry sliced garlic and copped Padron peppers in olive oil until sizzle city. Drain and then toss the pasta in, add grated parmesan on top and some lemon zest. It’s quick enough for weeknights — and would seriously impresses your “I don’t eat much” Wifey. You could also add some Jamon, lightly fried to crispy for extra punch: Ding Dong!!!
Padron Poppers with Soy-Lime Dip: Stuffed Padrón peppers recipe
Cut off the top of the pepper, and then stuff each pepper with cream cheese, drizzle with Olive oil, roast until gooey in an oven at 180 degrees centigrade, then dunk into a soy-lime dip. It’s the mix-and-match twist your next dinner party never knew it needed.
Soy-lime dip: 4 Tbsp soy sauce, 4 Tbsp lime juice, chopped shallots — the green bits, and sprinkle some dry-pan-roasted sesame seeds.
For more travel, reviews, and recipes: hit us HERE at Islifearecipe.net
How to cook Padron Peppers in oven: How about a Padron Pepper Pizza Topper
Make your own pizza dough and flatten her out, or just buy a frozen one from the supermarket. Slice peppers across, toss on your pizza with tomato paste, mozzerella cheese, red onions, and prosciutto. Bake until melty — your tastebuds will wonder why you’ve been eating takeaway Dominos all this time.
Padron Pepper Bloody Mary
Muddle a chargrilled Padron pepper or two in your Bloody Mary glass, then top with 2 Tbsp vodka, tomato juice to 1" from the top of your glass, tabasco to your taste, a few good glugs of Worcestershire sauce, a Tsp of Horseradish, salt and pepper, a lime wedge + some ice cubes. Salt rim the glass, and add a stick of fresh celery: WOOF, you just earnt the breakfast of champions.
Padron-Infused Olive Oil Aioli
Slowly blend twenty blistered peppers (yes, again grill on the hob, or fry with olive oil in a pan) with four garlic cloves, five egg yolks, and olive oil that you drizzle in slowly, until a miracle of garlic sauce appears. Slather this on fries, burgers, or even on your Wife. It’s stunning!!!
Padron Pepper & Mango Salsa
Dice some roasted Padron peppers with ripe mango, stir in red onion, coriander, chilli, lime juice, salt: BOOMSKI!!! I tell you, whack that on some meat and suddenly your grilled pork chop will feel like it’s wearing its wearing an Hawaiian shirt. This is Spanking Good!!! On pretty much anything!!!

Padron Peppers Tapas
You could cook all eight Padron Pepper Recipes above at once, and have a Padron Peppers Tapas, how glorious would that be? But, you must serve this Spanish Smorgasbord with some Estrella and Sangria — that’s like an un-written rule, and some.
The Rise of the Padron Pepper From Spain to Global Stardom
Originally from Galicia, Padron peppers rose from obscurity to superstardom when Spanish food evangelists like Brindisa popularised them in the UK. Now you can buy them in nearly every supermarket in the UK — rumour has it Brits spent enough in 2024 on Spanish products to make the Iberian pig blush pink.

Eight Easy Padron Pepper Recipes. Final Thoughts: So… Should You Panic-Buy Padróns?
Well, if you’re the type to hoard toilet paper at the first sign of Covid sniffles, then yes — fill your tote bags, your cupboards, and your neighbour’s salad drawer with Padrón peppers. Because these little green blighters are having their moment, and frankly, it’s long overdue” we have loved them for a long time at our Chef mates in the Spanish Restaurant industry!
Once dismissed as that weird wrinkly thing at the back of the tapas platter, and I don’t mean me, the humble Padrón has now strutted its way onto BBQs, and Instagram reels across the world.
But let’s be honest — whether you’re grilling them with halloumi, tossing them into noodles, or sneakily pinching the last salty one from the sharing plate (we see you), Padrón peppers are now the MVP of the modern pantry.
For more travel, reviews, and recipes: hit us HERE at Islifearecipe.net
It’s been a long journey for the humble Padrón. From the Aztecs’ farming fields to the sleepy Spanish town of Padrón, and now to British plates and garden parties. Franciscan monks brought the seeds over to Spain centuries ago, clearly foreseeing our obsession with rustic snacks and Mediterranean nibbles in 2025. A visionary lot, those monks. Possibly the original food bloggers too — except with more robes, less tattoos, beards, and fewer Instagram selfies.
They’ve gone from background nibble to barbecue rockstar in record time. It’s only a matter of weeks before someone tries to launch a Padron Pepper Smoothie. Don’t. Please. Some lines mustn’t be crossed. ENJOY!!!

Padron peppers Where to buy
In Singapore it’s pretty simple actually in the more ‘top-end’ super-markets. I don’t think you’ll find these in Fairprice. But Cold Storage, Little Farms and the like: absolutely yes.
Can you eat Padron Peppers raw or cooked?
They are designed to be cooked. You can eat them raw, fir sure, but Padron Peppers can be a little bitter — get them over fire, get them charred, get them with salt, lemon and good quality olive oil and try, then have a bite of a raw one. You’ll never go back, haha.
Are Padron Peppers hotter than jalapenos?
Nah. These are not hot and spicy peppers, these are super flavoursome peppers, hence you can engulf a whole plate alone and not need loo rolls stacked up in the fridge.
Padrón peppers spicy or not?
Not really, they’more savoury and smoky (when charred). My kids eat them all the time. Super delish.

Ride the Waves with the Best Surf Simulators

My First Surf Simulator Experience
A few summers ago, I tried my first surf simulator at a local event that also featured a bull ride and a mechanical wipeout UK setup. I wasn’t expecting much, honestly. I thought, “How fun can a fake wave really be?” But once I stepped on that moving board and the wave started rolling under my feet, I was hooked. It felt like a blend of surfing, snowboarding, and rodeo — all rolled into one.
That day, I also got to try an electric bull rental nearby (the same company that offered electric bull hire for parties). It was a full-blown adrenaline-fest, and it made me realize how these types of interactive rides have become must-haves at any fun event or party.
What Makes a Great Surf Simulator?
Choosing the best surf simulator comes down to a few key things:
1. Realistic Wave Motion
The best simulators mimic the natural flow and resistance of ocean waves. It’s all about balance, movement, and control — just like when you’re trying to hold on during a bull ride.
2. Safe and Sturdy Design
As with any ride, safety is a must. Look for simulators with soft landing zones and professional supervision. I once fell pretty hard trying to do a quick turn — thank goodness the padded base caught me (and my pride).
3. Fun for All Ages
Whether you’re 12 or 52, these simulators are a blast. I’ve seen kids nail it on their first try while adults (including me!) struggle not to wipe it out.

Hosting a backyard BBQ or a birthday bash? Forget the usual party games — rent a surf simulator or go for an electric bull rental. I hired both for my nephew’s birthday last year, and they were an absolute hit. If you’re already considering electric bull hire, why not double down on the fun?
You’d be surprised how many companies that offer bulls near me also provide surf simulators and wipeout UK setups. Just search “rodeo near me” and you’ll often find a package deal that includes all your favorite rides.
Final Thoughts: Ride the Wave, Feel the Rush
If you’re looking for something unique, challenging, and endlessly fun, a surf simulator is where it’s at. Trust me — once you’ve felt the thrill of staying upright while that wave machine throws everything at you, you’ll be planning your next ride.
So whether you’re planning a rodeo-themed event, craving a bit of wild fun, or just want to try something new after a bull riding adventure, ride the waves with the best surf simulators. You won’t regret it.

Smoked Sugar Market Experiences Demand Boost from Bakeries Restaurants and Craft Beverage Producers
The global smoked sugar market is experiencing a steady rise, driven by the increasing demand for gourmet and artisanal food ingredients. Smoked sugar—a type of sweetener infused with natural wood smoke—has become a popular choice among chefs, mixologists, and home cooks for its complex, smoky sweetness that enhances both sweet and savory dishes. Its growing appeal across culinary sectors, as well as among health-conscious and adventurous consumers, signals a promising future for this niche yet dynamic market.

What is Smoked Sugar?
Smoked sugar is typically made by cold-smoking brown or raw cane sugar over different types of wood such as hickory, applewood, cherrywood, or mesquite. This process imbues the sugar crystals with a rich, smoky flavor without altering their sweetness. Depending on the type of wood used, the final product may feature notes ranging from subtle and fruity to bold and earthy.
This smoky sugar is used as a finishing touch in dishes like grilled meats, desserts, cocktails, and sauces. In baking, it adds depth to cookies, cakes, and caramel sauces. It has also gained traction in craft beverage markets, where bartenders use it to rim glasses or dissolve into smoked cocktails.
Market Drivers
One of the key factors driving the smoked sugar market is the consumer shift toward gourmet and artisanal food products. As people become more interested in unique flavor profiles and experiential eating, smoked sugar offers an easy way to elevate traditional recipes. Additionally, the rise of home cooking—especially post-pandemic—has fueled interest in specialty ingredients like smoked sugar.
Foodservice and hospitality industries are also embracing smoked sugar as part of the broader smoked flavor trend. From smoked cocktails in high-end bars to glazed meats in BBQ restaurants, smoked sugar has become a versatile component of creative culinary expression.
The clean-label and natural product movement further supports smoked sugar’s market appeal. Most smoked sugars are made without artificial flavorings or additives, aligning well with consumer preferences for minimally processed, plant-based ingredients.
Regional Insights
North America holds the largest share of the smoked sugar market, largely due to its established BBQ culture, interest in smoked flavor profiles, and growing gourmet food scene. The U.S. in particular has seen increased demand for smoked sugars in both household and restaurant settings.
Europe follows closely, with countries like the UK, Germany, and France embracing smoked sugar for use in desserts, baking, and cocktails. The Asia-Pacific region is an emerging market, with growing awareness of Western cooking styles and increased spending on gourmet ingredients.
Market Segmentation
The smoked sugar market can be segmented by:
Product Type: Light smoked sugar, medium smoked sugar, and heavily smoked sugar.
Wood Type: Hickory, mesquite, applewood, cherrywood, oak, and others.
Application: Bakery, confectionery, sauces, beverages, and meat glazing.
Distribution Channel: Online retailers, specialty stores, supermarkets, and direct-to-consumer brands.
Online retail is gaining momentum as a distribution channel, especially among younger consumers and culinary enthusiasts seeking hard-to-find ingredients.
Challenges and Limitations
Despite its growing popularity, the smoked sugar market faces a few hurdles. One major limitation is the niche nature of the product, which may prevent it from reaching mainstream grocery stores on a wide scale. Additionally, the cost of production—particularly for small-batch, naturally smoked sugars—can result in higher retail prices that limit accessibility for budget-conscious consumers.
Another challenge is shelf stability. Because smoked sugar is often exposed to moisture during the smoking process, it requires careful packaging to avoid clumping or loss of flavor over time.
Future Outlook
The future of the smoked sugar market looks promising, with innovation playing a key role. Brands are experimenting with new wood blends, organic certifications, and sustainable sourcing practices to appeal to eco-conscious and gourmet-savvy consumers. Collaborations with celebrity chefs and food influencers are also helping bring smoked sugar into the spotlight.
As flavor exploration becomes a dominant trend in food culture, smoked sugar stands out as a versatile, natural, and premium ingredient. Its unique taste and multi-use capabilities make it a valuable addition to modern culinary arsenals.

How to Maintain the Ideal Smoker Temperature
When it comes to creating unforgettable BBQ, the one thing that separates a good cook from a great one is consistent smoker temperature. Whether you're cooking ribs low and slow or smoking a brisket overnight, keeping the heat steady is what leads to that juicy tenderness and smoky perfection.
But if you’ve ever manned an offset smoker, you know the struggle is real. From unpredictable flare-ups to frustrating temperature drops, it can feel like you’re constantly battling the fire.
That’s exactly why so many grillers are turning to The Perfect Draft BBQ Blower—a powerful, easy-to-use tool that helps you take control of your smoker and cook like a pro.
Why Consistent Temperature is the Secret to Better BBQ
Temperature fluctuations are one of the biggest challenges in traditional smoking.
Too hot? You’ll dry out the meat.
Too cold? You’ll end up stalling the cook or serving underdone food.
The sweet spot for most smoking sessions is between 225°F and 275°F. Holding that range ensures your meat breaks down evenly, so you get tender, flavorful results every time.
But with wind, weather, and fluctuating fuel, staying in that range is easier said than done. Unless, of course, you’re using the Perfect Draft BBQ Blower.
What Makes the Perfect Draft Blower So Effective?
Available at ThePerfectDraft.com, this game-changing blower was designed for one simple reason: to help BBQ lovers maintain precise temperature control in any offset smoker.
Whether you're a weekend backyard BBQ enthusiast or competing in a cook-off, the blower works by:
Controlling airflow to your firebox
Monitoring heat levels with an advanced temperature probe
Automatically adjusting the air supply to maintain your set temperature
It's like having a pitmaster assistant built into your smoker setup. And the best part? It’s super easy to install and use, even for beginners.
Step-by-Step: How to Maintain the Right Smoker Temperature
Here’s how to use the Perfect Draft Blower to get flawless, evenly cooked BBQ every time:
1. Light Your Fire First
Start by building a clean-burning fire using quality wood or charcoal. Once it’s burning consistently, you’re ready to mount the blower.
2. Mount the Blower
Using our Universal Mounting Hook (No Drilling Required), attach the blower securely to your smoker’s firebox. No damage, no mess—just a simple setup.
3. Insert the Temperature Probe
Place the sensor probe at grate level inside the cooking chamber. This ensures accurate monitoring of the meat's cooking environment.
4. Let the Blower Do the Work
Once connected, the blower takes over. It automatically adjusts airflow to keep your temperature steady—no more babysitting your smoker all day.
5. Optional Manual Control
Prefer to make adjustments yourself? The blower can also be run in manual mode, giving you full control over airflow.
Pro Tips for Better Temperature Control
Always use dry, seasoned wood for a cleaner burn
Seal your smoker’s gaps to prevent heat loss
Avoid opening the lid too often—every peek causes a temp drop
Let the blower regulate while you relax or prep your sides
Why Grillers Love the Perfect Draft
From backyard chefs to seasoned competitors, people are raving about the difference this tool makes:
More consistent temps = better results
Juicier, more flavorful meat
Less guesswork and frustration
Works with a wide range of offset smokers
Tough, long-lasting build quality

We independently evaluate all recommended products and services. Any products or services put forward appear in no particular order. if you click on links we provide, we may receive compensation. As men, we’re faced with several challenges when it comes to summertime. Not sweating on public transport, mastering the perfect BBQ sausage, working off said sausage in high heat without causing an aneurysm. We could go on, but we’re here to talk matters of fashion and style. With our fair share of difficulties to contend with, the last thing any of us need is passé style rules to confuse us further. Which is why we’ve gathered the most prevalent warm-weather wardrobe myths and stuck them on the burner, too. Sandals Are For Feminine Feet If you happen to call the UK home (or any other place where sunshine is more myth than reality) it’s totally possible to completely avoid wearing sandals and keep your feet from ever seeing the light of day. But when that heat wave or beach holiday eventually comes around, you’d better be prepared to do it in style. Considerably smarter than pool sliders, sleek leather sandals owe their enduring success to their versatility, working just as well with tailored shorts as they do lightweight chinos or tailored trousers. When you do finally expose those pasty pinkies to the outside world, remember that, regardless of how fantastically awesome your new sandals are, if your feet resemble mangled griffin talons, then your shopping efforts have been for naught. Get a pedicure, guys; there’s no shame in it any more. Key Pieces Blue & Green Should Never Be Seen Wrong. It should be seen. And it’s been seen a lot lately. Just like black and blue, this is one once-maligned colour combination that can pay off big time when done right. The key to nailing this look is steering clear of bright tennis court greens and vivid electric blues as they’ll clash horribly and make your outfit look like it’s been sponsored by children’s toy store. Instead, stick to rich or muted shades of green (think military, racing, khaki or olive) and mix with navy or petrol blue to create eye-catching yet understated results that can be adapted for everything from job interviews to summer weddings. The high street is a solid choice when putting together an outfit like this, with retailers offering a myriad of colours and styles to choose from, so you can find the perfect balance. Black Is For Autumn/Winter Only While it certainly isn’t the most summery of colours, it is possible to pull off black in the heat. Just don’t go all Yeezy and don ‘all black errthang’, because wearing this darkest of hues in summer is not so much a question of whether it looks good, as a question of practicality. Black naturally absorbs more heat than lighter colours, therefore if you opt for a tonal look on a hot day, chances are you’ll end up sweating like Jeremy Clarkson at an unsatisfactory Top Gear buffet. For an alternative, sweat-free way to way the wear shade, throw on a few black accessories. A leather bracelet comes highly recommended, as does a baseball cap and a pair of black slip-on sneakers. Key Pieces You Need A Completely New Wardrobe For Summer Brands and retailers love to talk about seasons. Aside from winter, spring, summer and autumn, there’s high-season, low-season, tourist season, whaling-season. Okay, maybe not that last one. But the only one you really need concern yourself with is all-season. Building a wardrobe that can flit between hot and cold at least four times a year is the gold standard in menswear. Of course, there are pieces that you only wear for winter, such as a down-filled coat, just like as palm-print swim shorts are the reserve of summer. But when it comes to the rest of your wardrobe, aim for pieces that do double time by being capable of layering up or down. Prioritise classic pieces such as dark raw denim, quality T-shirts in neutral colourways and fabrics that offer insulation and breathability in equal parts, like those found on an Oxford shirt. Going Sockless Is Just That Girls have nice feet. Lovely, in fact. Men? Men do not. For this reason, guys often choose to stop short at sandals by bearing a little ankle flesh instead. But let’s get one thing straight: for no reason should the sockless look look be confused with actually going sockless. Even if your trotters are only vaguely musty after a gym session, we guarantee 20 minutes in sneakers without proper coverage and they’ll smell like a rotting tuna sub. To feel as fresh as you look, stock up on no-show or ‘invisible’ socks that wrap around the toes and heel of the foot (ideally with a rubber grip to stay in place) giving the required illusion with none of the fungal nail infections. Ankle-Height Footwear Doesn’t Go With Shorts Most guys relegate any shoes that extend beyond the ankle to the back of the wardrobe for the warmer months. But there are ways to wear them well for summer. Not all boots will work as a replacement for your loafers. Opt for work boots and you run the risk of coming off look like a wrap-around shade, safari-shirt-and-chino-short wearing park ranger. While suede desert boots can work with shorts, the easiest way to introduce calf-grazing creps is with a pair of high top sneakers. Team them with some well-tailored chino shorts and a simple white T-shirt for a foolproof look. Or, for a slightly messier, California-inspired take, look to denim shorts, modest prints or branded T-shirts. Leave Leather Jackets For Winter Now, let’s be reasonable here. If it’s 35 degrees Celsius and humid as hell outside, there’s no chance of getting away with wearing a leather jacket. But given that only happens for perhaps one week in August, generally you shouldn’t shun skin all summer long. All that’s required is to strip back the layering, push up the sleeves and team with pieces in lighter colours to make it summer-ready. For instance, a simple white T-shirt paired with light blue jeans has an air of rock ‘n’ roll nonchalance to it that requires no thought at all. If suede is more your fabric, look for bomber or blouson jackets in warm hues. These pair nicely with jeans and chinos alike and offer a smart evening option when a suit (or the temperatures) are a degree too much. Key Pieces Florals Aren’t Masculine Florals may have been the butt of many sartorial jokes over the years, but the past few seasons have proved they’re back with a flowery vengeance. Darker, more subdued prints with flashes of colour are a safer bet than the brighter, bolder motifs out there. A dark, floral short-sleeved shirt makes an ideal addition to your holiday wardrobe, especially when teamed with a pair of grounding neutral chinos in white, stone or beige. If you’re not quite ready for full-beam flower power just yet, try layering one under a lightweight knit or deconstructed blazer, or wear it open over a white T-shirt as a way of breaking up the motif. Key Pieces You Don’t Layer In Summer As the famous saying goes: ‘No T-shirt is an outfit, entire of itself’, or something like that. While in winter, when it’s cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass money, it makes sense to wear as many clothes as possible, the opposite is not necessarily true in summer. The careful art of layering doesn’t melt away with the snow. It simply takes on a new meaning. Aside from being a way of navigating the transitional months, when it can be hot or cold (or sometimes both), it’s also an opportunity to take a few risks and breathe life into old pieces. In summer, layering can take on various forms. Be it a cardigan over a grandad collar shirt or the addition of cool jacket over a suit. One of the most powerful style plays to pull this season is a white T-shirt or vest worn under a printed or Cuban collar shirt worn either tucked in or out. You Can’t Wear Wool In Summer With all this new knowledge in tow, you’ll soon be able to stride out into the sunshine, head held high, wearing sandals, florals, boots and wool. Wait, wool? Yes. If you’ve been packing this fabric away every six months, prepare to feel sheepish. The natural properties of fine gauge textiles like Merino make them one of the best fabrics to wear in the heat. Temperature regulating and capable of absorbing moisture (plus allowing it to evaporate), it is packed with antibacterial qualities that ensure it doesn’t smell. So if it’s warm outside, there’s never been a better time to getting knitting. Or shopping. Key Pieces Source link
