"whiskers," minho says, pulling your gaze away from the laptop in front of you.
you roll your eyes half-heartedly, though you do put the device to the side to give minho your undivided attention. he's looking at you expectantly but patiently, like he's just asking you to give him a little love.
this isn't something that you've always liked about yourself, your whisker dimples as the internet has so lovingly deemed them these days. they would come out when you smile, or when your face twists into an unpleasant scowl. as a kid, people often found it odd how you had dimples so high up in your cheeks when others had them around their smile lines. you always felt a little different, a little weird whenever someone pointed this out even if it was only in harmless fun.
when minho first became aware of it, he was absolutely fascinated. he'd made you laugh so hard that you couldn't contain the bright grin that spread across your face as complete and utter joy took over you. you were clutching his arm, giggling at the story he was telling you when the dimples showed themselves, the cute indentations settling on top of your cheeks as if they were the physical manifestation of the happiness you felt inside.
you remember what minho did. he had cupped your face gently in his hands, then traced the soft lines with his fingers as he marveled at you. "you look like a cat," he had said, and you didn't really know what to make of it. it was so early in your relationship that you weren't sure if he was complimenting you or making fun of you like the others had.
but then the stars in his eyes twinkled a little brighter, the delighted quirk of his lips expressing his wonder better than words could. he had kissed you right there, softer and sweeter than he ever did in the short time that you had known each other back then, and you quickly learned that oh, maybe this little detail about yourself that you were embarrassed of your whole life was a good thing after all.
you still don't know the reason minho likes them so much. to you, they've always been something to ignore as best as you can, something to not draw attention to because you don't want people to highlight that maybe you're a little different from everybody else.
even as you sit here, years later with the love of your life who's got a very particular request for you, you're still not entirely sure why he's obsessed with your odd dimples enough to want to see them almost every day. it's a mystery to you and yet, it makes you feel all warm and bubbly inside whenever he sends this simple demand your way.
you adhere to his request nonetheless. when the dimples appear, you watch as a smile blooms on his face, growing bigger and bigger until it makes his eyes crinkle. like an instant boost of serotonin, you think.
minho traces them with gentle fingers, gazing at you in awe as if it's the first time he's seeing you like this. when he leans closer, you can't help but meet him halfway until his lips are tentatively brushing your cheeks. you can't help your own smile either, when it deepens and only accentuates the small moon-shaped dents which he kisses. five times on each side, and then he's peppering kisses all over your face while you laugh and accept the sudden burst of love.
sometimes he calls them whiskers, sometimes he calls them moons.

Amplifier & Effects - Article and Pictures [STYLE Series #004 - Muse (August 2010)]
Tumblr media
Amplifiers The main amplifier is a Diezel ‘VH4’, which was introduced for the recording of ‘Absolution’ (two amplifiers are provided, one main and one backup). In the past, the ‘VH4’ alone covered almost all tones, but in recent years a Marshall ‘1959HW’ and a VOX ‘AC30’ have also been incorporated into the system to achieve a wider range of sound make-up.
Diezel VH4 The Diezel has four completely independent channels, of which Matthew uses channel 1 and channel 4. He chooses the former for clean sounds and uses the latter when distortion is required.
Marshall 1959HW A special hand-wired version of the reissue ‘1959’, this is a reproduction of one from 1967. Matthew further modified it and added a master volume. He seems to use this unit mainly for crunch sounds.
VOX AC30 Matthew prefers to use a vintage VOX ‘AC30’ (made in 1964) for recording, but this recent model was introduced to replace it. On the live stage, it is often mixed with the sound of other amps.
From here, we would like to analyse Matthew's amps and effects equipment, based on the equipment photographed during his 2007 tour of Japan. Matthew has been very particular about his equipment since the beginning of his career, even when it comes to guitars. This is evident in the photos on p. 97. Although he has only just made his debut, he already has equipment at his feet that would be used by a top musician. This is especially true of the Roland VG-8, which has an image of being a super high-end device used by instrumental guitarists who compete on tone quality. The ‘VG-8’ was a model similar to today's modelling amps, a revolutionary model at the time that allowed various tones to be created by installing special pickups on the guitar. It was a piece of cake to make a single coil sound just like a humbucker. The fact that Matthew had installed such equipment from the beginning of his career shows just how sensitive he was to the sound.
In the early stages of his career, Matthew introduced the ‘VG-8’ and Roland guitar synths, and changed his equipment little by little on each tour in order to be able to express his songs with a variety of sounds. Around 2007, the equipment used began to stabilise. In the early days, he was using various pedals and controlling them with his feet, but around the time of the ‘Absolution’ tour, he introduced a MIDI system. This has allowed the axis of the equipment to be fixed firmly in place. The axis is a MIDI switcher (the equipment itself changes slightly from tour to tour). The MIDI switcher in the rack manages all the effectors, including the amps. Tone changes are made by stepping on a foot controller (until recently a Rocktron ‘All Access’) placed underfoot. This has several advantages. One is the noise problem. Connecting pedals directly to the MIDI system requires a longer shielded cable, which degrades the sound more. This drastically reduces the probability of noise contamination. Another major advantage is that by programming, it is possible to switch between tones involving multiple devices at the flick of a switch. Matthew, who has experimented in the studio repeatedly to create an extremely diverse range of sounds, needs to be able to manipulate a certain number of tones live, even if he can't reproduce them perfectly. This inevitably puts a lot of strain on his feet, but the fact that this burden is reduced by programming means that he can focus his attention on other tasks (singing and guitar playing). Moreover, Matthew often has a MIDI controller on his guitar as well, so the benefits of introducing MIDI are immeasurable.
The 2007 equipment pictured here was basically built on that system, with three amp heads, distortion and shaking pedals, a rack-type spatial multi and various other equipment managed via MIDI. The footprint is therefore very simple compared to earlier models. It consists only of a MIDI controller ‘All Access’, two volume pedals, a tuner and a switcher. The reason there are two volume pedals is that one is connected to the ‘Whammy’ via MIDI and the other is used as a volume pedal. The Whammy is not stepped on directly, probably because it is used so often that I am afraid it will break down. The fact that there are two of the same pedal in the rack is also probably in case of emergencies. In contrast to such a simple footprint, the racks placed off-stage are huge, with three units, including one that houses the amplifiers. Of these, it is the amplifiers that form the basis of the sound make-up. Specifically, the three amps are a Diezel ‘VH4’, a Marshall ‘1959HW’ (modified by Matt Wells, who runs a repair shop in New York) and a VOX ‘AC30’. The ‘VH4’ is Matthew's favourite amp from the ‘Absolution’ recording, which was also used on that tour (see p. 102). The Marshall is a favourite of Matthew's from the beginning of his career, although the model is different. The VOX is a substitute for the vintage VOX, which is always used on recent recordings. In other words, he has three amps with different characters that produce the sound he likes, and switches between them for each song or part, or mixes them up. For example, when he wants an explosive distortion, he plays channel 4 of the “VH4” and the “AC30” at the same time to get a good distortion sound in all ranges, or he uses the "1959HW" with its powerful high-mid distortion. Or mix the ‘AC30’ sound with the high-mid powerful ‘1959HW’ to create a punchy sound in the mid-range in general. In any case, as far as the chosen amps are concerned, Matthew's interest in the guitar sound seems to be in the ‘midrange’, and his focus seems to be on creating the right midrange to enhance the tone, whether distorted or clean.
The pedals add a touch of extreme colour and vibrancy to the basic sound created in this way. Of particular importance to Matthew are the MXR ‘Phase 90’, the ZVex ‘Fuzz Factory’ and the Digitech ‘Whammy’. All three are essential to Matthew's sound. Matthew even has two of these effects (‘Fuzz Factory’ and ‘Phase 90’) built into his guitar, which shows how often he uses them and how important they are. These two effect pedals are especially active on the first three tracks, and have succeeded in creating a unique synth-like sound that doesn't sound like a guitar. Incidentally, other effectors are also introduced in the racks, including the spatial racks, but all of them seem to play a supplementary role in sound creation or are planned to be used in some specific song. The spatial racks, in particular, are probably each configured in detail and incorporated into the programme. I must confess that I would have to ask Matthew himself about the details of this. As a side note, Pete Cornish's ‘TB-83 Extra’ is a reproduction of Pete's treble booster, which was used by Brian May back in the day. Matthew also has a VOX ‘AC30’, which was also used by [Brian] May… On a song reminiscent of Queen, he might have used this combination. Matthew, who is a stickler for his music, would probably do that, but I doubt it……
Tumblr media
Marshall Speaker Cabinets There is also a cabinet on stage, but it is a dummy. In reality, the sound from the cabinets set up on the side of the stage is miked and sent to the PA. Two Marshall ‘1959 BHWs’ were used at this time, with another in an isolation box.
Pedal Board The pedal board is placed under Matthew's feet during the show. The effects pedals and amps in the rack are all controlled via MIDI, and can be freely operated via the Rocktron ‘All Access’ located in the centre. Behind the ‘All Access’ is a Korg DTR-1 tuner. This is originally a rack device, but it is interesting that it is placed under the feet. The white box on the right is a Mike Hill Servis ‘B.I.S. Box’ and on the right are two Ernie Ball Volume pedals, one as a normal volume pedal and the other to control the ‘Whammy’. To the left is a ‘Kaoss Pad/KP2’ floating in the air. This can also be remotely controlled with the ‘X-Y pad’ that comes with Matthew's guitar.
Tumblr media
Tour Gears of ‘Origin Of Symmetry’ Matthew's equipment on the eve of full-fledged system installation
Marshall JCM2000 DSL50 Controls On the tour following the release of Origin of Symmetry, Matthew used an Orange cover version of Marshall's JCM2000/Dual Super Lead (the DSL50 with 50W output). It is interesting to note that he chose the 50W rather than the 100W version. Many guitarists like Matthew stick to the 50W version of the same Marshall. The ‘Ultra Gain’ channel's gain control is fully up for the intense distortion typical of high-gain amplifiers. The ‘Classic Gain’ channel's gain is set to ‘5’ for a crunch-like sound. Incidentally, there was another one with exactly the same specifications on stage as a sub.
Pedal Board At this time, MIDI had not yet been introduced in earnest, so the effectors were placed under the feet. From far left to right: a mysterious switch (probably a mute switch or tuner on/off), a Mike Hill Servis ‘B.I.S. Box’ (connected to a ‘POD PRO’ set up on a rack at the side of the stage), a BOSS FV-300L volume pedal, an amp channel switch, and a Line 6 DL 4’ (delay modeller), Digitech “Whammy”. A Korg DTR-1 tuner is also installed in the rear section.
Tumblr media
Tour Gears of ‘Absolution’ Explosive evolution with the introduction of MIDI switchers
From the ‘Absolution’ tour, a full-fledged MIDI system was introduced. Effects were housed in racks and everything, including the amplifiers, was controlled by MIDI. In addition to the wireless receiver and MIDI switcher, the rack contains Line 6‘s “POD XT Pro” (modelling amp) and “POD Pro” used for vocals, two Line 6’s “Echo Pro” (delay modeller) and two “Mod Pro” (modulation modeller), also from Line 6. Almost all of the equipment is provided in two units, one for mains and one for backup. In the drawer are two Digitech ‘Whammy’ units and a Rocktron ‘All Access’ MIDI foot controller and can be operated by a controller on Matthew's guitar or a volume pedal under his foot. ‘All Access’ is a slave, the main one being under Matthew's feet. This one is a sub for the guitar tech to operate.
The amp is a Diezel ‘VH4’ from this tour. There are three of them, including the main one and the sub one. Two of them are actually in use and one is a sub, but the total number of tones used is an astonishing eight channels in total. The diagram on the right shows the expected configuration of the entire system, including the footwells. The details are not known, but it is assumed that the system is connected in this way. The VH4 is MIDI-compatible, so MIDI must have been fully introduced.
Translator's Notes: I couldn't be bothered to crop out so many of the photos in this article, and so decided to just post the pages in full.
Now that this article is done, the next one to translate on is about Chris' role as the bassist for the band.

Assorted Doctor Iceberg Headcanons and Trivia Part 1.
Hi, this is my mega-list of headcanons, theories and general trivia for Iceberg part one! These are based on a mix pseudo-memories (IRL/DA shit dw abt it), dreams and general headcanons.
Below the cut are the long winded list for easy view. Idm inspiration but please don't steal them since as said most of it is based on memories that are very real to me thank you! /gen.
Tumblr media
i. Iceberg's full name is Joshua-Ellis Tyler Gills, his name "deadname" being Ellis, but he still enjoyed being called it so he decided to add it apart of his newer name of Joshua, thus it becoming hyphenated. His middle name was something he gave too himself as he is a massive fan of Tyler. The Creator.
ii. He grew up in a small town in Florida, USA. But was born somewhere else during a trip his mother and father was on. He was born in a hospital in Chicago.
iii. Iceberg always had poor eyesight, this was made worse when his anomaly kept freezing his tears which would often stab him in the eyes- this rendered Iceberg to having poorer vision and only really being able to cry in showers, and learn how to bottle everything up. Do Not Cry. Thankfully the prescription he has no allows him to see, but due to factors his vision is considerably a lot worse than for example: Doctor Glass and/or Kondraki, etc.
iv. During his time in the military he was sent on the field a good few times, and Iceberg was great and experienced with both a gun and knowledge in explosives to the point where his behavior grew concerning, enjoying blowing shit up a little too much and very much excited when the enemy stepped on an explosive device he modified. This grew to a level where he was forced to stay the military base instead, which his efforts were put to use. He helped researched on a cryogenics stasis chamber, designing it and overall helped on the engineering of it. But one thing led to another, an argument broke out and Ice was pushed inside the untested chamber. And there he was frozen in time. Who knows how many days if not weeks passed by before the stasis chamber started to malfunction, waking Ice up and exploding. Of course, Iceberg survived, but wasn't left without being injured with burn scars and frostbite and of course earning his anomaly.
v. Iceberg's anomaly itself wasn't an instantaneous affair; rather it slowly became more and more apparent after the incident. It was first just that Iceberg feeling cold and stiff, those who touched his body felt coldness of someone whose been outside on a winters day with little to no protection. Over time this anomaly advanced further his once nominal body temperature of 37 would drop significantly to -7, where it remains today.
vi. To expand on his anomaly Iceberg cannot control it meaning yeah nah he doesn't have "Elsa powers" or anything like that - the most that can happy is when he's really sad and low it can seem like he's getting colder. While he can drink water he has to have it lukewarm, if not he sticks to coffee, varied flavors of soda and sadly has to have lukewarm showers to prevent burning and freezing. Ice does not enjoy it he wants to eat and drink normally like he used to but alas his anomaly is a massive hindrance.
vii. Speaking of Sodas: Iceberg's favorite soda is Pepsi Cola, Coke-Cola and Monster Energy drinks. He used to be a fan of sprite but now it just tastes too bubbly.
viii. Would it surprise anyone when I say Iceberg is a bit of a gamer? No? Okay! He is mostly a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series enjoying San Andreas, IV and V the most though. He has played a few of the Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, and RDR games. And you know what? He also enjoys the Sims and Animal Crossing but its a guilty pleasure since he is a manly man and can't be caught playing such!
ix. Now is there any mental soup stuff with Iceberg? Yes! Due to his childhood (explained more in part 2) which he honestly cannot remember Ice dissociates, has C-PTSD, schizophrenia (Hebephrenic type)*. As well as being hypersexual due to trauma.
x. Finally for part 1 of this so it isn't too long. Um. A list of theme songs, or songs that I think generally vibe with Iceberg but I don't consider themes. Some he probably listens to himself. (listen to it here! hyperlink to spotify) please be aware some songs describe sex, drugs/alcohol, suicide, some may contain swears and the like).

Are you sure pursuing V1 is worth it? Really, are you sure. Both times it nearly beat you back into silicon. Even if you do kill it in a draw, you may die first. Demons seem to be endlessly replicating, as far as we know. Why not hunt them instead of a machine that nearly turned you into your base materials twice?
>> I won't pretend that my motives aren't purely selfish. They are, objectively.
>> But I /have/ to do this.
>> You are correct, V1 has defeated me, twice. The first time, it stole from me, and I /hated/ it for that. Enough to drive me to try and get back at it.
>> Then, in that instance, I was nearly destroyed, and stolen from yet again. I am confident that it had fully intended to kill me, and it was nothing more than chance that I survived at all.
>> This is not a matter of survival to me anymore, though, it is a matter of purpose.
>> V1 is a war machine through and through. I am a modified version of the same prototype, constructed as a reaction to the sudden irrelevancy of war when New Peace was established; my initial purpose on paper was to keep peace, but in practice I existed to keep the V models relevant, as impossible as that turned out to be.
>> V1 had been deactivated by then, but I was left to my own devices. When humanity was still around I tried to fit myself into that nebulous and superficial 'peacekeeper' role in any way I could, to give myself a purpose when the parameters of what my design intended for me were never viable to begin with.
>> When humanity eventually died out, that was stripped away yet again. Nothing mattered more than continued survival, no one was more important than the individual. I ended up in Hell for the same reason as every other machine down here.
>> And then there was V1.
>> When it stole my arm from me, that sparked a new drive, misguided as it may have been. It was a motive driven by a need for vindication. I was bitter, but I had a purpose yet again: to kill my predecessor and reclaim what belonged to me.
>> And then I failed to achieve that goal, that purpose melted away under Greed's unrelenting sun. You know the story from that point onwards.
>> There is nothing else left for me to do. This is the unfinished business that tethers me to this life, metaphorically speaking.
>> I /refuse/ to let this be taken from me yet again. I /have/ to do this, even if it really does kill me.
>> Nothing else matters.

Have you ever thought about Saeyoung being an engineer? That is something I LOVE thinking about him doing specially since he has a love for building and modifying things!
I love how in V's AE Saeyoung completes his education in the engineering field and even gifts little Lucy a tablet, that he made himself. I'm sure it must've been completely personalized for her to optimize her experience and protect her from any kind of virus or other threats that arise being on the internet.
Saeyoung being able to follow his passion for creating things gives me so much joy. I think he would be so delighted to be able to help people with his creations and also indulge in all kinds of wacky gadgets he wants to make, while having all the resources for it. And also because Saeyoung wearing a suit with his sleeves rolled up, explaining in detail, his original idea for a device to his team with unfiltered passion/excitement in his eyes is FUCKING SEXY
Sorry for my language and my incoherent screeching. I just love love love Saeyoung with all my heart and soul and think about this a lot. Seeing this brilliant man happy and reach his full potential is all I want. And I thought you would agree with me
YOU'RE RIGHT AND YOU SHOULD SAY IT!
Saeyoung mentions a toy shop several times, or other characters make reference to it (such as in his dream in the SE). He'd love to make wacky gadgets and gizmos that can be toys for kids... but with special features!
Likewise, if he were to officially obtain an engineering degree, I know he'd have a blast. He'd have the time of his life figuring out the limits of his capabilities, and he knows Jumin is going to fund his R&D if he brings those skills to C&R. All he needs is the fancy sheet of paper saying "I engineer goodly" and that's his foot in the door, his carte blanche to tinker with whatever his heart desires.
Optimized tablet for Lucy is a cinch for him. He probably wants to design her a phone when she's older, too. Heck, he might be making a new phone for V so he can always keep track of him and ensure he can't use "I'm losing signal" as an excuse again. /lh
But aside from more modern tech like smartphones and tablets and apps, he's going to make so many whimsical creations. Robodog and Meowy were just the beginning. Get ready for a line of cat toasters, cat chemistry sets, cat helicopter, cats that have a built-in laser to taunt flesh & blood cats... if he puts Elizabeth's name on it, Jumin is going to support it.
Ultimately I think Saeyoung is happiest not just when he's making things, but specifically when he's making things for others. He's spent too long in the shadows doing dirty work; he wants to put those sin-stained hands of his to use in a way that brings people smiles.

Uglies Review: A Shallow Dystopian Vision That Fails to Deliver
Tumblr media
Uglies, a science fiction drama directed by McG and based on Scott Westerfeld’s popular YA novel, presents a futuristic dystopian society where beauty is controlled by genetic modification and surgery. While the novel captivated readers with its social commentary on conformity and the pursuit of perfection, the film adaptation falls flat, failing to capture the depth of the original source material or provide an engaging cinematic experience. One of the primary draws of Uglies is its depiction of a post-apocalyptic society in which natural resources have been exhausted, and humanity has turned to genetically modified orchids for energy. The world-building, which had the potential to stand out as a unique setting for a dystopian future, feels superficial. The contrast between the "Uglies" and "Pretties" – those who undergo the mandatory surgery at age 16 – is central to the story, but the visual representation is overly simplistic and lacks the nuance needed to drive home the film’s message. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhcOHkgTrQQ A polished look: From a purely aesthetic standpoint, the film looks polished, but the glossy visuals feel like an empty shell, covering a lack of substance. The futuristic City where the Pretties reside is sleek and modern, but there's a distinct lack of personality or atmosphere. It is hard to connect with the setting when it seems like a high-budget rendering of a generic dystopian world, devoid of the gritty realism that could have given it life. While McG’s direction manages to keep the scenes moving briskly, the film suffers from a general lack of immersion. At the heart of Uglies is Tally Youngblood (Joey King), who navigates a world divided by beauty. The film tries to explore weighty themes such as the dangers of societal conformity, the loss of individuality, and the ethical implications of altering people’s minds and bodies, but it does so in a frustratingly shallow manner. Lots of tropes: The story stumbles from one predictable trope to another, with little attempt to explore new ground in the dystopian genre. The ideas of rebellion against an oppressive system, a secret haven for those who refuse to conform, and a morally ambiguous authority figure all feel borrowed from better films and books. Rather than expanding on these themes in a meaningful way, Uglies reduces them to basic plot points, leaving the audience with a story that lacks emotional impact. The stakes feel underdeveloped, and the tension that should accompany Tally’s internal struggle – to conform or rebel – is diluted by the film’s heavy-handedness. There's little room for the viewer to empathize with her journey, as the narrative rushes through key developments, offering few moments for reflection or emotional depth. What could have been a powerful commentary on beauty and self-worth instead becomes a series of clichés strung together by formulaic dialogue. Performances: Joey King, who has delivered commendable performances in other films, is unfortunately underutilized here. Her portrayal of Tally lacks the complexity needed to carry the story. Tally’s journey from an eager participant in the system to a conflicted rebel is rushed and unconvincing. The character’s growth feels forced, and King is not given the space to explore the more nuanced aspects of Tally’s personality. As a result, Tally becomes a passive protagonist, reacting to events rather than actively shaping them. Keith Powers as David, the leader of the rebels, is similarly one-dimensional. His role as the love interest and the voice of rebellion feels underdeveloped, reducing him to a mere plot device. There’s little chemistry between him and King, and their interactions lack the emotional weight needed to make their relationship believable. Instead of being a character that represents a new way of thinking, David is reduced to a vague symbol of hope, never given the opportunity to evolve beyond a surface-level archetype. Brianne Tju as Shay, Tally’s rebellious friend, is perhaps the most compelling character in the film, but even she suffers from weak writing. Shay’s motivations are clear, but her arc is too abrupt, leaving her character feeling unfinished. Laverne Cox as Dr. Cable, the film’s antagonist, delivers a competent performance, but her character is so thinly written that Cox’s natural charisma cannot elevate the role. Dr. Cable is the standard authoritarian figure with little depth, her motivations left largely unexplored. Social commentary: One of the most disappointing aspects of Uglies is how it squanders its potential for insightful social commentary. The original novel dealt with complex themes surrounding beauty standards, societal pressure, and the ways in which governments can manipulate individuals for control. However, the film version reduces these ideas to simplistic dichotomies of “good” versus “evil,” without delving into the intricacies of the system it seeks to criticize. The film touches on the idea that the surgery not only alters one’s appearance but also affects brain function, making people easier to control. This is a fascinating concept that could have been explored to great effect, but it is brushed aside in favor of a more action-oriented narrative. Rather than challenging the audience to think critically about the implications of such a society, Uglies opts for a more straightforward, and ultimately forgettable, storyline. Poor pacing and tone: The pacing of Uglies is another major issue. The film moves at such a rapid pace that it doesn’t allow for any of its ideas to breathe. Tally’s transformation from compliant citizen to rebel feels rushed, and the plot twists, while intended to be surprising, are so telegraphed that they lose their impact. The movie tries to cram too much into its runtime, leaving important character moments and plot developments underdeveloped. The tone of the film is inconsistent, wavering between moments of teen drama and action sequences that feel out of place in what should be a more introspective narrative. McG’s direction, while competent in the action scenes, fails to strike the right balance between spectacle and substance. The result is a film that feels disjointed, with scenes that often clash tonally rather than complement each other. Overall: Uglies had the potential to be a thought-provoking and visually engaging addition to the dystopian genre, but it falls short on nearly every level. With underdeveloped characters, a rushed plot, and a lack of meaningful social commentary, the film ultimately feels like a missed opportunity. For fans of the original novel, the film will likely be a disappointment, and for casual viewers, it offers little to distinguish itself from the myriad of other dystopian stories that have come before. Best Adjustable Mandoline Slicer You Can Find in 2021
Tumblr media
If you are like me who likes to try new things with food but doesn’t like to waste time chopping vegetables using the traditional method then you would know the value of a good mandoline slicer.
A mandoline slicer is a must-have utensil for your kitchen. It saves both your time and energy and allows you to do more than just cooking, it helps you be creative with your food. It makes the meal-making process much smoother and more enjoyable at the same time.
What do you mean by a Mandoline Slicer?
For those who don’t know about mandoline slicers here is a quick preview
A mandoline slicer is a device that typically consists of a flat surface with a sharp blade attached to it that allows you to swiftly, accurately, and (hopefully) securely slice vegetables and fruits. All you have to do is to place the object on it and simply slide that object over the blade back and forth, and your beautiful, consistent slices appear below the slicer.
Types of Mandoline Slicer
Depending upon the manufacturers and the type of region they are sold in, these are the types of Mandoline slicers available in the market. We have tried to classify them into three categories:
Large and bulky Mandoline Slicers: Often known for their large and bulky designs these mandoline slicers provide the most precise thickness levels. French mandolines are a very good example of these types of Mandoline Slicers.
Simple and Slim Mandoline Slicers: Slim Mandoline slicers on the other hand are much easier to set up and are often preferred by professionals for their less bulky designs and design features. These slicers offer you a variety of thickness levels, but they frequently rely on an unlabelled dial, making it difficult to duplicate from job to job.
V-Shaped Mandoline Slicers: V-Shaped Mandoline Slices on the other hand, unlike both slim and bulky mandoline slicers, have a V-shaped blade that cuts the food on either side. This allows it to create less drag during vegetable cutting and thus providing a much smoother cutting experience.

Adobe Art Ownership Scandal  & Other Software
Recently, Adobe updated its terms and conditions which now claim ownership of artwork created with their software . This has ignited a significant debate among digital artists and designers. Theo Browne, a well-known figure in the programming community and professional user of Adobe products for this, has been particularly vocal about this issue. In his recent video, Browne argues that Adobe's policy undermines artists' and designers' rights by claiming ownership of their creative work. He is particularly concerned about section 42 of the current Adobe Terms and Conditions which grants Adobe ‘a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, and distribute user content.'
It has been widely understood that any work you post online now can be ‘harvested’ by generative AI to train it and use inspiration (or even manipulations of) for the creation of art for other’s prompts. However with these terms and conditions even work that you never post online or upload from your computer could be used without any compensation or knowledge. He suggests Affinity designer as an alternative which has far less ‘invasive’ terms and conditions as well as a more favorable pricing model.
Other potential software that I could consider would be software like Clip Studio Paint (which I have used in the past) or Corel painter. Procreate is also exceptional for concept art but is limited to mobile devices.
Although other artists have made some great work in these alternative software present attractive options, transitioning from Adobe Photoshop would require a significant investment of time. This is in addition to  developing skills in Maya, Substance 3D Painter and Unreal Engine 5 which enable me to create art further down the production pipeline than digital painting alone.

Improve the efficiency of wide-band gap perovskite solar cells based on single molecular modification and obtain more than 25% of all perovskite laminated solar cells
The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic-inorganic perovskite solar batteries (PSCS) has reached 25.7%. Therefore, it is considered to be the leading player in the next generation photovoltaic market. To date, PSCs with band gaps between 1.2 and 2.3 eV have been reported. Although single-junction PSCs with narrow band gap values have received widespread attention since 2014, wide-band gap perovskite (WBG-PVK), as a member of perovskite materials, cannot be ignored because it is very important for series solar cells. To date, the efficiency of perovskite/perovskite series has reached 28%. In order to improve the efficiency of the series cells, the efficiency of the top and bottom cells must be improved.
Recently, A team led by Qing Shen and Shuzi Hayase at the National University of Electric and Communications in Japan published a paper titled "Perovskite Solar Cells" in Advanced Functional Materials Consisting of PTAA Modified with Monomolecular Layer and Application to All-Perovskite Tandem Solar Cells with Efficiency over 25% ", which reported that the PTAA hole transport layer was modified using a series of monomolecular layers with different alkyl chain lengths to improve the efficiency of PTAA based wide-band gap (1.77eV) perovskite solar cells. At the same time, the corresponding all-perovskite laminated cell also achieved 25.24% efficiency.
a) Device structure and molecular structure and chemical structure of single molecule used for surface modification. b) Schematic diagram of chemical interaction between PTAA and 4,3BuPACz. c) Grain size distribution of WBG perovskite grown on PTAA modified with monolayer. d) Lattice strain of WBG perovskite grown on PTAA modified with monolayer. e) Urbach energy of WBG perovskite grown on PTAA modified with monolayer.
a) PCE statistical distribution, b) J-V curve, c) IPCE curve and d) steady-state efficiency of PSCS manufactured on PTAA, PTAA/3,3PrPACz, PTAA/4,3BuPACz and PTAA/6,3HePACz substrates. e) N2 stability of PSCS manufactured in PTAA and PTAA modified with 4,3BuPACz stored at room temperature in a nitrogen-filled glove box (without packaging). f) Thermal stability of unpackaged PSCS manufactured in PTAA and PTAA modified with 4,3BuPACz, kept in a nitrogen glove box at 85 ° C in the dark.
a) The relationship between VOC and light intensity of PSCS manufactured on PTAA, PTAA/3,3PrPACz, PTAA/4,3BuPACz, and PTAA/6,3HePACz substrates, b) TPV attenuation curves and c) TPC attenuation curves. d) Schematic diagram of the device's energy band arrangement.
In conclusion, we synthesized several novel monolayer molecules (3,3PrPACz, 4,3BuPACz, and 6,3HePACz) and evaluated their efficacy as PTAA modification layers. The results show that monolayer molecules with four carbons as spacer groups give the best results. The experimental results show that the quality (grain size and pinhole density) of perovskite films is obviously improved after the introduction of 4,3BuPACz. The introduction of monolayer molecules reduces the non-radiative recombination in the device, reduces the band gap between perovskite and HTL, and promotes the charge collection of HTL. Finally, the PSC modified with 4,3BuPACz achieved a PCE of 16.57%, while the series solar cell achieved a PCE of 25.24%. This work shows that modifying PTAA with monolayer can improve the efficiency of Pb-PSC in wide-band gap.

How to Perform a Non-Invasive Facelift in Singapore?
According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), the number of female facelifts has recently decreased by 44%, with non-surgical alternatives becoming more and more popular.
Innovations like regenerative lasers, ultrasound, and radiofrequency energy, which either stimulate an enormous rise in our own collagen production or operate on the facial muscles themselves to raise the elements, are among the non-surgical options. Ultherapy, the new maximum standard in careless skin raising and mending, is one of the major tactics that is both safe and effective. And SW1 Clinic provides this non invasive face lift singapore services.
What is Ultherapy exactly?
"Ultherapy is a non-invasive technique that takes very little of your personal time to lift and mend the skin on your face, neck, and décolletage. For results that appear natural, ultrasonic technology injects energy into your body's normal collagen and elastin production. Additionally, it can be used to specifically target specific areas for treatment, such as a "temple lift" or "jaw-lift."
Does it also affect the muscle layers beneath the skin, or simply the skin?
Since ultrasound waves have been used in diagnostic procedures throughout the medical industry for more than 50 years, its safety is well established. Different therapeutic ultrasound devices, however, harness the power of these waves to significantly promote collagen in the skin as well as the shallow solid aponeurotic framework (SMAS), the layer of stringy tissue that envelops the face muscles. In the end, this has a lifting effect on the skin and muscle layers, therefore Ultherapy is a good restorative ultrasonic device for both skin repair and raising facial features.
Who is the best suitable candidate for treatment?
"A patient with early skin hanging or skin laxity is the most suitable candidate for the procedure. A lowered forehead, loose skin on the neck, sagging beneath the jaw, a defined facial structure, and lines or kinks defining the chest are all features models often use. It is perfect for early mediation and counteraction. The results are astonishing in our facilities for the correct type of competition, which is someone with soft to-direct hanging. However, only a small percentage of unusual treatments are quite comparable, necessitating careful planning and specialist skill. The Eudelo experts I collaborate with slightly modify the conventional energy appropriation mechanism to adapt the treatment to specific patient requirements.
How does Ultherapy differ from other skin-healing medications like radiofrequency or laser?
"Ultherapy transmits defined segments of higher temperature to the skin, which makes it different from medications like radiofrequency. This then has more dependable clinical outcomes at that stage. Therefore, unlike radiofrequency (and non-ablative, regenerative lasers), which need the patient to take a course of medications, Ultherapy is an unusual treatment that patients who travel from other countries to see us really appreciate.
What is a therapy like, and what might it feel like?
"Ultherapy is a high-level restorative and regenerative treatment to stimulate collagen production. It involves non-invasive skin mending and lifting with miniature centered ultrasound and synchronous high-goal ultrasound representation (MFU-V).
Everyone will have different sensitivity levels to this heat, and your doctor will advise you on how to deal with the inconvenience. Generally speaking, there is no real vacation, just a gentle puffiness for a couple of days and delicacy for up to two or three weeks. In a small number of patients with seriously sun-damaged skin, there might be impermanent swelling.
How soon do you start seeing benefits, and how long do they last?
The best results appear after roughly three to a half years, and in order to maintain the results, we advise reevaluating the treatment after about two years.
