The l’Cie was staring outside a window at the falling snow--something his mind, his memories are having a hard time processing. The white landscape stretched in front of him was strange, yet he didn’t find himself that bothered about it. Yes, there was a voice questioning why he was here, he should be somewhere else--beside a certain someone but ... who? Who was he talking about? Who is he ... trying to remember? 

It does not matter.

The sound of familiar footsteps approached the young man but he didn’t bother to turn around to the captain. It seems he stopped right behind him and a tap on his shoulder followed--not an ordinary tap but like something with a flat surface tapping at his shoulder. Sigh ... Can’t he be unbothered for a moment? 

The Mysterious l’Cie turned around enough to see the General. Eye fall on the item that ‘tapped’ against his shoulder--a book? Machina looked up at the general and back at the book in a manner that require further explanation but it seems the general was not going to offer one. Though he slipped ‘I think you might find it interesting’ before he shoved it at him and walked away.

Find it interesting? What does he know about his taste? ... taste? What ...does he like? He cannot recall what kind of books he likes to read--everything is vague; nothing is clear in his mind. Another frustrated sigh before he looked at the cover of the book

Orience....history? Why this volume in particular? He learned about this in .... in ... in where? ... He can’t remember ... He cannot remember ...

Am I allowed to ask but what do you headcanon your muses Sexuality as?

ooc: I’d been holding onto this ask for awhile since I hadn’t thought about it for all of my muses, but I’ve had time to mull it over.

Under the cut, I’ll elaborate on everyone’s sexualities as I see them at this moment. They’re subject to change of course. Interactions can always influence them either way, and they can discover more about themselves.

As of right now, though, these are my headcanons.

     Makoto is mostly interested in girls, but I do      have a verse where he and Hajime are a thing.      I guess that makes him bisexual with a clear      preference. He’s mostly interested in Kyoko,      but he branches out. He’s full of love, and he      wants to give it even though he’s a shy boy.

     Hina is more into girls, too, but I can see her      also having an attraction to guys if given the      opportunity. She just has…big girl loving energy.      So far, I just have stuff with her and Sakura,      but again, things can change.

     Given her fantasies, Celeste is probably into      guys but open to experimentation or just doing      things to get what she wants. When it comes      to these things, it’d be hard for her to actually      love someone given her history.

     I imagine Chihiro probably doesn’t have a      preference of gender. He has all these insecurities,      so he assumes no one will like him. He’s no      stranger to guys approaching him, but it’d really      surprise him if a girl wanted to date.

     Toko and Jill will tell you they both like men,      but post-Ultra Despair Girls, they’ll probably      question that a bit. Toko hadn’t entertained the      possibility before, so it’s a whole new romantic      world to explore. Jill is just surprised someone      likes her.

     Mukuro doesn’t really focus on sexuality, but      she definitely has the biggest crush on Makoto.      It would take a lot to get her to be invested in      a relationship. It’s also hard for me to see her      doing anything sexual willy-nilly if at all.

     Chiaki definitely doesn’t care about gender.      She’s a big ol’ pan girl. As long as you have a      good heart and don’t mind if she plays a lot of      video games, you’re set. You can be her      Player 2. Maybe even add a Player 3 if you      want. She doesn’t mind at all.

     Mahiru definitely likes girls and maybe certain      guys who can actually meet her high standards.      Her really high standards. Like Hajime.

     I can really only see Peko with Fuyuhiko, but      that could change. She mostly focuses on her      duties and swordsmanship. It’d be hard to      attract her attention since so far only one person      has been able to do that.

     Sonia is open to anything, but I imagine she      likely would prefer to be with a guy because      of her position. She wouldn’t mind being with      anyone regardless as long as she liked them      enough. I don’t think she’d mind having more      than one person either as long as everyone      was happy.

     Mikan also has no preferences. Anyone giving      her attention makes her happy. Not a healthy      mindset, no, but that’s how she sees it. I      personally like the idea of her having a girlfriend, though.

     Nagito is a big disaster gay, but he does have      love feelings for all embodiments of hope. He      hasn’t attached to anyone other than Hajime      and Izuru. It’s hard for me to see him with      anyone else right now, but he hasn’t interacted      enough with other people or developed any      other relationships.

     Izuru doesn’t care. At all. If you ask him, he’ll      just say “do whatever you want” or something like that.

     And Gundham is the Overlord of Cuddling His      Boyfriend Ultimate Lucky Student Hajime Hinata.      That’s about it.

"Last night I dreamed with your brother... Izana." Honestly speaking, Ace didn't know how to approach this or if he should let Machina at all. But it felt right to let him know, if only because they're family and he deserves to know this. "He's happy that you worry about him. But he wished that the idea of having had a brother that is no longer wouldn't drag you down. As long as you can take care of yourself and Rem— that will suffice to honor his memory."

Hands were busy fixing up his mantle after one of the tiny chocobos started yanking it. He would gladly give the mantle away for the tiny bird to play with it if the academy’s regulations did not point out the necessary of keeping the mantle in the best shape at all times--he could be penalized if something happened to it. Machina tilted his head to the side when Ace started talking. He thought he would throw another remark about his carelessness and how he will find himself in the detention if he did not pay attention to his mantle more.

Fingers stopped when he heard Ace mention his big brother’s name, Izana. Now having his full attention, Machina turned around to face the other, expecting him to continue what he started because that was vague as heck. He... dreamed of Izana? But . . . how? How can he remember the dead? Machina cannot even recall the tiniest thing about Izana. Not his eyes, smile--his face, he CAN’T recall anything. He cannot remember if Izana was a good brother or not, if Machina was good to him or not, if they were happy family or not . . . He’d give anything to be able to remember something about his late brother--WHY he died like that. So much inquires but the dead cannot speak.

“He’s... happy?” The cadet repeated as he inched close to Ace, almost like a child. His features were mix of confusing and concern, twisting by each word Ace says. So many thoughts going through his mind. “Izana...said that?” but wait, that’s just a dream. But what are the odds that someone dream of a dead person . . . ? None. No one had ever said that they dreamed of a person no longer here. Ace is  . . . special. He is really a special person.

Machina took a moment to register everything the card dealer had said. He cannot say he felt a lot... uh, ... how to say it, he could not feel that PASSIONATE feeling like one would when talking about someone they care about. But still ... there is light sting in his heart. 

“Thank you ... “ came soft and clear as Machina looked up to Ace. “I don’t know how you can do it--remembering someone dead but ... thank you. It ..uh..heh, means a lot to be able to know something about him, about Izana.” eyes darted to the ground for a moment then continued, “Mhm... He’s right. I don’t remember anything and that frustrated me. I wanted to remember, I wanted to know how were we; I let it cloud my vision. I thought I could not move on, continue with my life without knowing him--it felt WRONG.” he went on a tangent. Machina didn’t talk about his brother even to Rem. He avoided that because he was still unsure how to go on about the topic. His last family is gone, just like that. Knowing that they were close when they were kids, surely it affects Rem, too to lose Izana. He cannot wallow in his sorrow and forget she is hurting, too.

“Ah! S-sorry... I started rambling like that,” a sheepish smile curls his lips as a hand scratch the back of his head. “Even if it is a dream, it set my heart at ease. All thanks to you, Ace. Thank you for telling me about your dream.” he has no obligation to do so but he did, and Machina is grateful for him. Ace . . . probably still feels responsible for Izana’s death and everything which Machina had told him that he forgives him when he confessed the other day. 

“And Ace,” he paused to rest a hand over the card dealer’s shoulder, “Thank you for REMEMEBERING Izana.” a gentle squeeze to Ace’s shoulder. “I’ll--no, we’ll honor his memory together. We’ll work together to continue what he started.” peace, huh. Izana didn’t die in vain. Machina turned around to the chocobos which are running around and kwehing, “Mhm! To move on and honor his memory, huh...”

[[ some notes on novel machina.

he said that izana raised him, so unlike the game, they are actually on good terms.

ace told him that he is the reason izana died. machina forgave him because ace did everything he could so far; saving him and rem multiple times.

machina might remind anyone who knows izana of him because similar face features. 

machina has a dream about izana. he remembered him but only in his dream so once he wakes up, he forgot him, but still feels that he is missing something important. machina is not afraid or frustrated that he is weak, knowing he is weak is an advantage because of that he will work twice harder to help everyone.

ace told rem and machina about their ability as class zero to be revived by arecia.

machina is very concerned for class zero more than in game. it bothers him greatly how arecia treats them.

unlike the game cycle, machina here does not take the white tiger’s focus from  Qun'mi, but kills her. he wants to remain a human just like his friends.

machina goes to have a talk with arecia. he confront her about leaving her children to fend for themselves. how she treats them like weapons and demad that she stop doing that. she takes notice that he is a danger to them; weakening them with his emotions. machina realize that arecia has a bigger plan than just defending rubrum which arecia gladly tells him she wants them to become agito. machina tries to persuade her again but then he sees an image of a distance future--the class zero dead bodies. arecia leaves machina frightened of what he saw but determined to see class zero safe.

machina confronted arecia when she revealed everything. this made him realize that in every cycle, he barely managed to achieve anything, either killed early on or did not survive the fall. this is the reason why he is the way he is in the game cycle, after arecia planted in him the deep fear of losing the people he love, and the endless thirst for power to protect.
