On that note, I'm waiting for the day I explore the PoF maps and finally fall in love with them, because I think they deserve it. I remember thinking those maps had some of the best NPC interactions in the game. They're also really gorgeous. (Desolation my beloved). But man I can't deal with their layout. Absolute pain in the ass maps to traverse. And the goddamn mobs.

One day I'll enter that character arc. Maybe. Hopefully.

Had a little bit of a Week, so I'm just posting pictures from visiting my parents now. Jossy got to meet some new friends, since my mom started a small doll collection. Vabysmo (left) and Eyelea (middle) are cousins whose moms are sisters and they often visit their grandma who lives on the reservation {name redacted because it's real and right next to my parents' city}. They don't have a specified tribe because there are three that live on that reservation and a lot of intermarriage has happened, so it's not always clear cut. Vabby's dad is Black and Eyelea's dad is Pacific Islander and they're both in rodeos, so the girls stay with their grandma when their dads go out of town. They have a pet Alpaca who has yet to be named and sometimes get to sleep out in their grandma's tipi. They were happy to show Jossy around and eat the goldfish and pop tarts she brought to share (not pictured because I took them out after this).

This was obviously originally Kaya's tipi, which is funny because I didn't know she'd gotten it when I decided to bring Jossy to visit.

It was a hot week and I don't sleep well in unfamiliar places, so I only felt up for taking dolls on an adventure once, but here Jossy and Vabby got to check out some cacti. Don't worry, they were careful not to touch them.

GW2: Why Elona matters

Since I am on a Guild Wars kick, let me tell you why I love Elona so much. (Note, Northern European white person here.) When I started playing Guild Wars, I started with Nightfall. What stood out for me was the location and how it was depicted. This was the first time I saw Africa depicted not as a place of poverty and misery or a place where lions and such lived. Elona was depicted as a beautiful place of both culture and history. Libraries, their own warrior caste and politics. All without forgetting where it was set. This continued in GW2, where Path of Fire lets us see Elona in higher definition. Africa has always been a continent of colour and GW2 truly leaned into it. Going around Amnoon you will see painted buildings and bright clothes, nevermind the wealth seen in Vabbi. Elona is also, like real Africa is, a place of different ecosystems. Sure, there is the savanna, but there are swamps, snowy mountains and jungles as well. What makes Elona even better in GW2, is how it is framed. Elona is a place of history, of ancient knowledge and people. While Cantha is a place of progress and technology, Elona is a place of wisdom and tradition. Elona matters, because it is a depiction of Africa without the burden of colonialism. While it is important to unpack the colonialism Africa faces, it is also important to show the immense value Africa has in itself. It's culture, history and art are rarely shown in works set in the real world, in fantasy it is often ignored entirely. It is a look into a place rarely given attention to, without defining it by its worst qualities.

Hi my name is Palawa Ignacious Inevitable Scourge Of Vabbi Joko and I have long immortal lich life (that's how I got my name) with magic staff and shriveled dead eyes like limpid tears and a lot of people tell me I look like The Pact Commander (AN: if u don't know who they are get da hell out of here!) I'm not related to Mad King Thorn but I wish I was because he's a major fucking hottie. I'm a lich but my bones are straight and white. I have wrinkly dead skin. I'm also a scourge, and I go to a magic palace in the Desolation called the Bone Palace where I'm the emperor (I'm 574). I'm undead (in case you couldn't tell) and I mostly wear gold. I love Black Lion and I buy all my clothes from there. For example today I was wearing a white crown with matching jewels around it and a white fabric elonian leggings, skull shoulder pads and sandals. I was wearing tar lipstick, tar eyeshadow, tar foundation, and a gold lip piercing. I was walking outside the Bone Palace. It was dry with sandstorms and hot sun, which i was very happy about. A lot of sunspears stared at me. I put my middle finger up at them.

ok listen i've been to vabbi for like 30 minutes during this full map completion run but i already want to issue a formal apology to this map. i've completed like 2 hearts and they were fantastic. i've been a hater all these years and did not see how good the npc dialogue is.

Caoimhe's later adventures in "New" Tyria she finds out that her Commander is here. The one that went missing in Elon Riverlands fighting Balthazar.

See, when Cosima went missing, Dragon's Watch had to figure out what to do without the Commander. They still had the idea to steal Joko's army and got away with it, but the fight with Balthazar in Vabbi left casualties and fatalities. Aurene didn't have her Champion and while she gave it her all, at the end of the fight she flew off and wasn't seen again. Kralkatorrik rampaged over Elona and beyond, and devoured the magic of Tyria. Nowhere was safe.

Back in the "main" Tyria, Caoimhe had made contact with Aoife, not realising she was a completely different person and Aoife urged her not to get involved. Caoimhe knew too much about a potential future. When Cosima came on the scene though, things changed a bit. Kensi (human rev) got a bit involved in the Caoimhe+Cosima situation. Fun times.
