SYNOPSIS

Ten years ago, your father was assassinated. They said it was a successful hit-job done by a rival gang or another criminal family and closed the case. But you know better… You were there during the attack after all, even though not exactly in his last moments. You know it’s not that simple.

He deserves better. He was a vigilante, helping the citizens of Elysium City equally when its own superheroes were too busy maintaining their public image and reputation to even bother helping the ‘little folks’. But when they found out about his true identity as the heir of the infamous Morozov Criminal Family posthumously, they quickly closed the investigation as soon as they arrested the one surviving attacker out of the many that participated in that bloody night and considered that justice. There was no more fame or reputation to be gained for finding true justice for a long-retired vigilante who turned out to be a criminal as well, so why spend the energy and manpower? But you won’t accept it. You will seize the truth on your own and spit it on their faces. At least, that’s what you always tell yourself…  

For a decade you have been trapped and tortured in a perpetual hell of your own making, reliving that bloody night every year and furious at yourself for not being a step closer to finding out the truth. Every year, you promise your father that you will bring him the justice that he deserved. And you mean it. You won’t rest until you find the one who killed him. Even if you have to tear apart this rotten city from the inside out, you will stop at nothing to have your vengeance. 

This is your tale, Revenger, and you will decide how you will seize your well-deserved vengeance. Will you finally break the vicious cycle and rise above it all? Or will you become another part in the long blood-soaked cycles of vendetta?

THE PLOT

The world of ‘Vendetta’ is very similar to our own, except that around 35% of the population worldwide are born with abilities and powers. The setting of the story is a fictional metropolis city called Elysium City (located on the West Coast US), where almost half of its population are powered people. Its lenient laws on the usage of powers help make the superhero business and scene in the city boom almost exponentially. 

You will play as the child of an ex-vigilante (who was also the heir of a criminal family) and a famous and legendary superheroine. You are lucky enough to be born with two abilities: Gravikinesis (gravitational field manipulation) and Umbrakinesis (shadow manipulation).

You should have been living peacefully by now, if only your father wasn’t murdered a decade ago. Most of those years you spent living with your uncle as he tried his best in raising you and your childhood best friend, who was also orphaned not long after your father died. 

Now, ten years later, you are not closer to finding out the truth about who killed your father. That is until a recent series of high-profile murders of the city’s well-known superheroes start popping up. And the next target on the list? Your mother. Now, she comes begging for your help, assuring you that the group that has been killing off the heroes is somehow connected to the group that carried out the hit against your father.

She might be lying… or she might be telling the truth. No matter what, you’ll take any path that will lead you closer to finding your father’s killer. A step closer to justice for your father.  A step closer to your vengeance…

◾️ his MBTI type would be ISTP-A (Assertive Virtuoso). a Virtuoso (ISTP) is someone with the Introverted, Observant, Thinking, and Prospecting personality traits. they tend to have an individualistic mindset, pursuing goals without needing much external connection. they engage in life with inquisitiveness and personal skill, varying their approach as needed. which in a nutshell basically embodies his whole "do it my way or hit the highway" mindset

◾️ Nikita usually prefers to keep his gaze away from people unless he’s speaking, keeping his eyes down to the ground whenever he’s all alone by himself for reasons to be discussed later. but in the rare times when you finally meet his gaze then you’ll finally realise how deep yet bright of an emerald green his eyes are, almost resembling an uncut emerald. they are surrounded in thick black coloured lashes which make his eye colour pop out even more. they seem almost hypnotic in a sense, mesmerising and trapping people in those deep pools of green. however they are just as scary. whenever Nikita feels a very rare yet sudden burst of bloodlust or anger his eyes turn into a muddy, dirty green. they become more sharp and calculating, losing the lazy and carefree glint in them, even soulless as some describe. people have even pointed out how his darkened eyes resemble ones similar to a dead fish’s.

◾ suffers from myopia or nearsightedness and is therefore required to wear glasses. however he vehemently refuses to wear them, and instead goes for lens instead or none at all

◾️ although he's not yet ready to accept Yvette back in his life, Nikita for now, has chosen to simply avoid his confusing feelings about his mother but focusing on the mission in hand (but still he's saved her contact as "Deadbeat Mom" in his phone)

◾️ in terms of love, oh boy, Nikita is super dense, so he probably wouldn't even realize he's got a crush until somebody slaps him across the face figuratively by telling him straight - up clearly by stating facts even he can't deny or some miracle of an epiphany strikes him out of nowhere – when he's still oblivious he'd probably be more docile and kinder towards the crush, probably being slightly overprotective and flirting without knowing it. when he's not-so-oblivious anymore, cue the flusteredness and avoidance because he's embarrassed! let the drama ensue!

As I have promised, here are the artbreeder portraits for all the ROs 🎉 I'm very satisfied with all of them, even though some of their hairstyles don't really match 100% with what I had in mind. Sadly, my limited photoshop skill just allow me to change their eye colors, and hairstyles are out of my league 😔

I'll put them in the character guides in the stat screen later on too. And I'm planning to make a separate character post for each RO with their artbreeder portraits later on. But for now, I'll put them all in this post for your enjoyment! 😁

P.S. I'm sorry for the not-too-good qualities of most of the portraits, I ran out of the high-resolution downloads quota for artbreeder 😭 The only high-resolution ones are Rin's. I'll update later on once I finally have the high-resolution versions 🥺

Male Ash should have had more visible freckles on his face, but that's all.

Female Rin should have had the hime hairstyle.

Male Santana should've had a bit messier hair and a bit longer (reaching below his ears a bit, like he needs a haircut soon). Female Santana’s hair looks pretty accurate since she often put it up in a messy bun. Also, both should've looked more tired 😅

It's Chapter 2 release time! 🎉 It’s finally here!

First of all, I want to say thank you everyone for your patience and enthusiasm for this chapter! 🥰 It's a huge chapter with more than 55K words and split into two files (although readers won't probably notice it when reading) with quite a lot of variations and flavour texts. Now, the total word count for all chapters available is around 78.5K words. 🥳

For old readers who have previously played the Prologue and Chapter 1, I think this update will break the old saves and I recommend to play from the beginning since I've tweaked some stuff in both Prologue and Chapter 1.

If you guys have Choice of Games Forum account, I need you guys' help to please send screenshots of your MC's abilities, skills, personalities, and hidden stats (I've enabled readers to see hidden stats in the stats screen for this update) there on the thread.

It will help me a lot in balancing and setting the stats checks that will come into play in the next chapter, since Chapter 2 will be the last chapter for any abilities and skills stat increase. I would recommend focusing on one primary skill and getting a bit on one more skill as a secondary one, instead of trying to be a jack-of-all-trades. While for the abilities (grav and umbra), it's up to you guys, but I think there will always be one that will be higher than the other one.

Without further ado, some things you guys will be able to do this chapter include:

Some minor stuff I've updated previously or on this update that I just want to bring into attention to:

Added toggle function for MC's patronymic name in the stat screen. It'll automatically be turned on in the beginning, and if you don't think your MC's name fits with the Russian naming convention, then feel free to toggle it off in the stat screen.

Female MC can now insert their own feminine form of custom surnames (mostly for Slavic surnames such as "Kozlov" turning into "Kozlova") while still keeping the MC's dad's surname in masculine form.

I've added Luka's artbreeder picture in his character guide stat screen.

I've tweaked the killer's little taunt in the Prologue.

I've removed the options to increase umbra or grav when the teacher sings praises about MC to MC's dad to help remove the dilemma for readers.

Chapter 2 Release Date Announcement

Hey guys! 👋 I've decided on a date for the public release of Chapter 2, and it'll be on the 17th of August, just as the clock strikes midnight at 12 AM (UTC+08:00).

For those of my readers in NA, because of the time zone difference, it'll actually be on the 16th of August for you guys: 12 PM in the noon for those using EDT and 9 AM in the morning for those using PDT.

For my fellow Indonesians, I may have or have not intentionally chosen the 17th of August to release the update 😆, since it'll also be Indonesia's Independence Day 🇮🇩 So, I hope you guys will be able to enjoy the new chapter while relaxing and winding down on the holiday😁!

Writing Update (16 September 2022)

Hey guys 👋, back again with some progress update here. First of all, I just want to say that I'm really grateful for all the support over on Patreon 🥰💖; we've broken through the first $100 goal and is well on a third of the way towards the second goal ($400), which still floored me to this day! 😭💕 Once the $400 goal is achieved, I'll be making a short interactive side story for Vendetta that will be available for all Patrons across all tiers! ❤️

Moving on to Chapter 3 progress, right now, it stands at around 13.4k words 🎉. I must say that I've been quite satisfied with the rate I've been writing currently. For the past week ever since I started working on Chapter 3, I've consistently been able to write 1k words per day and sometimes even more and in around a week and two days, I had managed to write 13.4k words. Chapter 3 is now nearing its halfway point and there are additional MC customizations as well. This chapter will have a lot of variations that will be a pain to write but hopefully worth it.

Also, before starting on Chapter 3, I've added two suit options for Female and NB MCs to wear for the party and I've also added two extra pre-set names for the dual pistols and there will be now flavour texts when choosing the names of the pistols from the pre-set options. Grandpa will now react accordingly to the names you choose.

Some of you guys might probably also already aware that I'm planning to shift all the characters' ages a bit. When I first planned out the book, I actually envisioned MC to be 20 years old, and I think I'll be going back to this again and revert the time-skip back to 10 years instead of 15 years. I'm actually not really sure myself why I decided to add 5 years to MC's age and the time-skip in the first place 😅

The reason for me going back to tweaking the characters' ages is because I'm currently planning for a sequel spin-off for Vendetta! It's going to be set around two decades in the future, in the same Elysium City, but with a different MC. And since it's set post the events in Vendetta, I'm also planning to bring back some characters from Vendetta and include references about MC and the endings they choose at the end of the first standalone book, hence why I decided to shift back all the characters ages so they can still appear in the spin-off 😆

Right now, I'm not ready to share more details about it yet since the whole concept is still brewing in my mind and nothing is set in stone yet. But, I'll definitely share more as I get more solid grip on it in the future.

Revamped Tattoo Selection System

Hey guys 👋 I know I should be relaxing and taking a break right now, but I’ve been going back to Chapter 2 for the last few days now since its release to a fix some typos and add a myriad of little improvements on it! 😁 I will explain all of them further once I’ve updated Chapter 2 later today!

For now, I want to dedicate this little post to explain what I’ve done to try to improve and make the tattoo selection system more streamlined and flexible as well.

First of all, I’m very happy to announce that you can now make your own tattoo design for your MC! 🎉 I honestly wasn’t really fully satisfied with the tattoo selections that I put in previously; it’s a bit rigid and I don’t like how there are so many options that it’s almost the whole page.

So, what I did is split the design of the tattoo/tattoo selection from the area selection for some tattoos and for custom tattoos.

I also still include the more general tattoo options for those who don’t really care to describe their MCs’ tattoos design. But for those who want to describe them more in detail to make it more personalized for MC, the highlighted options are your go to 😄 The first one is for a single tattoo and the second one is for tattoo(s) that can cover more than one area of the body (like both hands, both legs, or whole body).

1,000 Followers Celebration Event! 🥳🎉

Back on July 18th, around 2 weeks after the Prologue and Chapter 1 are first released, this Tumblr Blog breaks through 1,000 followers! And even now, I'm still amazed and overwhelmed by all of your love, support, and enthusiasm for my story 🥰!

Some of you might still remember that I promised to do the 1,000 followers celebration after I finish Chapter 2, and here we are! 😁 Since then, we got an additional 464 people now following! Thank you 🥹!

So, just to reiterate the event I had in my mind, I'll be doing characters QnA. So, readers will send an ask asking questions to the characters, and they will be the ones to answer them!

Some rules for the event and questions:

Characters that will be participating: All the ROs (Ash, Rin, Santana, Skylar), Viktor, Luka, Jackal, Cara, Takashi, Grandpa, Grandma, and Yvette.

No asking about future events that may be related to the plot that hasn't happened yet. (Asks about future stuff after the plot may be okay, like domestic questions about kids, etc.)

Oh and please address the questions directly to them so I know it’s for the event and not normal ask. 😅

No asking dead characters about some stuff that is spoiler-y (such as asking Cara what she found out in her investigation).

Hmm... 🤔 I think that's all I can think of, at least for now. I'll perhaps bunch them into one post per character so as not to spam the dashboard. If there are too many questions for one character, I might pick and choose some (looking nervously at Ash and Rin 👀).

Minor Update (22 August 2022)

Hey guys 👋 I’ve been spending the last few days fixing some typos and grammar errors and add little little improvements, mostly on Chapter 2, but I also did a little tweaking on the overall chapters we have so far.

General and Overall Fixes and Improvements:

Added the ROs’ Artbreeder portraits in their Character Guide screen. Click here to see all of them if you haven’t.

Added a toggle for enabling Russian Cyrillics in the story for some terms, words, phrases. If disabled, all the Russian words will be written in Latin Alphabet instead. Below is an example.

Added the option to toggle on Russian Cyrillics and Patronymic Name before the story start (after the content warnings).

Fixed the terms and forms of address that Grandpa (and Grandma) are called by MC, Ash, and other people to more proper and correct ones.

Fixed the tattoo selection system to be more streamlined and flexible. Readers can now describe their MCs’ tattoos design. Click here to read more about it.

Chapter 1

Added a bit more bite into Ronald’s (the bully) verbal insult.

Tweaked a bit of the personality stat changes during the comic bookstore meeting with Yvette.

Chapter 2

Added a “Cutesy” style of clothing for MC.

Added options for all types of MC (smoker, trying to quit, and non-smoker) to whether try to stop and discourage Ash from smoking or not.

Added an option for MC to put on some make-up, or light make-up, or none at all when getting ready for the party.

Added more feminine types of clothing for NB MC for the party.

Added an option to be wary and concerned of Luka’s choice of partner.

Tweaked a bit of the personality stat changes in the second part of the chapter.

Tweaked the heir interest point. Now, MCs who have no interest at all to be the heir will correctly have 0 points on the heir interest point.

Announcement - What's Next?

Hey guys! In this post, I'll lay out what I'm planning to do in the next week or two.

First of all, I'll be taking some time off from writing the main story to get some rest and just relax and wind down for a while (maybe around two weeks or so). I've been writing every night non-stop ever since I first posted the Prologue and Chapter 1, and my brain feels wrung out 😵‍💫 and I certainly don’t want to reach a point of feeling burnout. I've been going to sleep at 3 AM almost every night for the past few weeks, so I hope this break can also help me fix my sleep schedule 😴

But don't worry, I will still be active and will try to answer asks on Tumblr! 😄 So, while I'm taking a break, I'm planning to do these stuffs:

Get the 1,000 Followers Celebration event going (I haven't forgotten it!) 🎉 I'll make a separate post about it after this.

Finish the Artbreeder portraits for all the ROs (I already have some done and will be ready soon-ish) 😉

Research and try to set up a Discord Server for "Vendetta", so you guys can start discussing with each other and I’ll be able to talk to you guys directly.

Setting up Patreon (It would probably be open next month since I don't want to charge people for only half a month and I still need to start making content for it first before opening it).

Start trying to write short stories and snippets! Just generally flexing my creative muscle a bit and maybe even make little aesthetic moodboard for the ROs.

Do some 'housekeeping' for this Tumblr Blog (adding more links, making a separate character page post for each RO with the brand new Artbreeder portraits, trying to make a semblance of main directory for some asks and scenarios so it'll be easier for people to find them).

Try my best to catch up with old asks (especially scenario asks that have been sitting in my drafts) 🤞

1K Followers Celebration Q&A, Part 1 🎉

Hey guys! First of all, I'm sorry for not being too active on Tumblr lately. I've been pretty busy spending my break setting up various stuff for "Vendetta" as listed on my checklist and answering all these QnA questions.

Without further ado, here are all the questions and answers for the 1K Followers Celebration Q&A! This is Part 1 (I gotta split them into parts because it'll be too long if I kept them all in one post)

『Viktor, in your opinion, which ending would you want your child to choose? Vigilante, hero, heir?? Also, if you've seen both of the funerals, how did it make you feel?』

Viktor: "I—I honestly don't know. I just want my child to be safe and among those three choices... I would want them to be the heir, I guess. It'll be easier for Luka, my father, and Ash to protect them. Being a vigilante or a hero is too dangerous. They'd have to fight dangerous people and criminals, most of which are powered as well, and they may attract the attention of the wrong people.

As for the funerals... They're... horrible. I want to be there so badly, to say a final goodbye to my family and close friends, console them, make final amends with my father, and tell all of them to just let it go rather than keep hurting by holding on. But most of all, I want to hold my child one last time. To see them so clearly hurt... and I can't do anything about it... It just hurt. I'm glad Luka comforted them and is taking care of them."

『For Yvette: Do you actually love your child?』

Yvette: "O—Of course, I do! What kind of question is that? I care for them, okay? Even if I hadn't met them in years..." Yvette fidgets in her seat. "Next question, please."

『Rin, would you have any interest in MC if they weren't part of the Morozov family?』

Rin is silent for a moment.

Rin: “If they were not a part of the Morozov Family, then there was little to no chance of us ever meeting each other anyway. So, that’s a moot point.” Their voice is stiffer than usual.

『For Viktor and Yvette: given the chance, what’s one thing you would say to your child right now if you had the chance?』

Viktor: "I love you so much, my little sunshine. Please, don't be sad or angry anymore. I don't want you to avenge me or find me justice. I want you to enjoy your life to the fullest, find someone to love and maybe start a family with, and spend time with all the people in your life. And remember, to always take care of yourself and I'll always be proud of you, no matter what."

Viktor is silent for a second before shaking his head lightly. "I'm sorry, I know you said one thing... But, I just have so many things to say to them..."

Yvette: "I'm so sorry, baby. Please, give me another chance and I'll prove how much I meant that and how much I want to be in your life. After all, it's better late than never, right?"

『For Yvette: How was Viktor's personality? And why did you fall for him?』

Yvette sighs dreamily, a light blush spreading on her cheeks.

Yvette: "Where to start? He was a true gentleman and always tried to protect me in fights... Even to the point of taking hits that were meant for me... He was also really charming and also funny at times. Can get really teasing and flirtatious, but was really loyal once he was committed in a relationship with me. Just between you and me, I think he was a true hopeless romantic!"

『Ash & Rin if they could change their power to anything of their choosing, what would it be and why? Thank you <3』

Rin: “Hmm… I love my precognition and it really helps me so far. I wouldn’t want to change it to anything else.”

Ash: “C’mon, you party pooper, just imagine for a second!”

Rin: “How about you start first, then?”

Ash: “Gladly! I think MC’s umbrakinesis is pretty cool and flexible. Shadows are everywhere in almost every moment of the day. Also, it can be really intimidating and destructive as well. I would love to have a power like that.”

Rin: “Fine... If I have to… I think telepathy would be pretty useful. To be able to hear what the other person is thinking and planning, or even to influence them subtly... Although, the constant chatter of other people’s thoughts would be annoying…”
