I love you video lectures with student engagement. Thank you Gary for wording what the professor said in a way I understood better. I know nothing of you, could not pick your face from a crowd, couldn't even recognize your voice in person as the audio quality on anyone but the professor is mediocre leaning into terrible. But I have written in my notes that this is Sharon's algorithm because you were the one that suggested this method of solving the problem and that's what the professor jokingly named it too
#learning from youtube is a mess sometimes but then you find a gem of a lecture series and its all worth it#video lectures#school#uni#university

flowers blooming in such heft and numbers they bend the plant over and plants bearing fruit so hard they shower everything under it in fruits or make the very branches bend…. creatures are just experiencing vast bounty and good fortune out there fr fr
#this is a vague post about some hydrangeas I saw and also about our neighbor’s blackberry bush just going ham#blackberries all over the hostas in the grass in the wood chips no sign of stopping#thinking about those trees that experience superfruiting events en masse on purpose to such numbers#that it just satiates all predators / threats to the seeds being sewn. so much that it is literally impossible for none to be successful#we watched a video about it in a bio lecture once in college and I cannot remember which species it was#but it was so much that the squirrel population had like. circular boom/bust years where way too many squirrels would be born#but the trees wouldn’t do another superfruit for years. which then created squirrel bust years#creatures just experiencing stuff I guess

dude. my life fucking rules. feathered velociraptor shleich figurine for $2 at the op shop. captain of one of my favourite ferries complimented my shirt TWICE (and we are now introduced!). new friend waved me over to sit next to her in a lecture. found a way to make my pony collection even more enjoyable. sky was so beautiful it was a crazy pale blue and there were cirrus clouds catching the sun. the ocean looked like molten green glass. I'm going swimming in the sea and having lunch with a few friends in a weeks time. I've earned 500 dollars this week just from my art which is a milestone I didn't expect to hit without joining a company. I'm not feeling as fatigued as usual. it rained in the morning which was really lovely. I thought I was going to be super late for uni but I made it right on time. I'm kind of in love with the world today
#listen to my gibberish boy#all of these are small things. some of them you have to consciously notice e.g. the sky. the sea. the rain#one of them is just 'not being late'. but my god. everything together amounts for so much#maybe silly but noting down all the good things that happen to me during the day has been absolutely incredible for my mental health#I'm so serious. its a big reason I went from crying every day to crying maybe once a month. you NEED to look for the tiny good.#the tiny good is always there. even if your life is miserable. maybe the water you drank was refreshing. maybe you talked to a friend#maybe you had a nice dream. or watched a funny video.#everything good that happens to you. notice it. think about it when it happens. it's crazy how big of a difference it can make sometimes#so much of misery or happiness is perception. if you tell yourself 'today was a horrible day so much went wrong' then in your mind#it will become a horrible day forever. not to say you can't have bad days#I have bad days fairly often! it's just that I try not to give the shit things too much attention#like ALSO today. my fever kept going. I had a stomach ache. I had to catch up on 3 hours of lectures. I tripped on my way through uni.#but if I dwell on those things they'll become a permanent part of my memory of today. you sometimes have the choice to remember or forget#certain things. try it for a few weeks [: it might make a difference

That same 9th grade history teacher gave us tons of busywork assignments (it was an AP class) and when we complained he never justified the assignments, he just told us we had to do them. He also never tried to actually enforce them. He assigned us work to complete over the course of two weeks and collected it when we took the tests and all of us to a kid were doing all of it the night before the test every single time and he knew this but he didn't actually confront us about it and take points off, probably because he didn't want to deal with our parents getting mad at him. He also dropped one of the busywork assignments the following year which pissed me off because he basically admitted it was unnecessary but still made us do it for the entire year. My mom did get him to change something once by asking him to explain how something was pedagogically advantageous and he just changed it without trying.
#basically this guy is just a lazy and bad teacher#last I heard he was using videos he recorded of himself giving lectures during the pandemic#like he was still using them at least as of last school year#he wasn't flipping and giving the students work time in class or anything#just playing 3+ year old videos of himself while he sat there doing nothing

no drawings for you today but! i found this skit my friends and i had to do way back in 2023 for a group project in uni
basically we had to take a short moment from the iliad/the odyssey and turn it into a modern day skit and of course we turned the moment patroclus died into a basketball match
here was the original story plot for our skit: achilles no basuke

(yes i played patroclus)
#it was honestly soooo fuckin funny i wish i had the video to play back and reminisce#patroclus doesnt die dw he just gets injured af (trust me i was there)#and yes we did play the seinfield theme at the end ofc#ALSO FORNITE DANCE IS CRAZYYYY#the obsession with greek mythology from univeristy lecturers needs to be studied#like for one of my other projects i had to design patroclus as a my little pony character#mayhaps ill post that at some point#the iliad#greek mythology#achilles#patroclus#shut up flynn

the problem with ai isn't that it's ai it's
evil companies pushing ai to devalue labor and creative products.
misconceptions about how ai works, leading to people attributing it an intelligence and sentience it does not have, which feeds into
misinformation, the decrease in effort needed to create disinformation, and the sudden increase of skill needed to spot falsified info. 3a. this includes content creators using ai to flood searches with low-quality articles and inaccurate photos, people not being transparent when they use ai for their images, and things that make it harder to do casual research online
lower threshold for doing hard work that polishes skill, leading to over-reliance on a very flawed tool.
the tool itself isn't the problem. it just exacerbates things that were already problems before.
#i am suddenly recalling lectures about the ethics of invention#technological progress is great#but is is ethical to invent the machine gun for the state when it is in the middle of mass murder#is it ethical to market these specific uses etc etc#i loved ai when it could produce those eerie dream-like images and videos#like hell yea gods damn those are things humans naturally do not create#like the way a frog would slowly morph into a dog then tree then bird as it jumps#images that APPEAR to be a photo of a desk but in fact depicts nothing at all#just cool trippy stuff#much more interesting that realism thats for sure#sol speaks#also people aren't even doing proper searches anymore they just look at google's ai overview or ask chatgpt and accept itst somehow correct#without any evidence of it being correct
