The season ends with Nina (finally) ending things with Lindsey, and understanding that she can’t move on and be happy with Maggie just yet because she hasn’t healed from the trauma inflicted on her by her abusive ex.

The season ends with Aziraphale essentially relapsing and going back to Heaven, understanding he can’t move on and be happy with Crowley just yet because he hasn’t healed from the trauma inflicted on him by Heaven.

Heaven is Aziraphale’s abuser.

Except unlike Nina, Aziraphale is unable to break free from this abuse and finds himself falling for the empty promises and excuses again.

This is the final (of many) parallels set up between Aziraphale/Crowley & Maggie/Nina and I think it’s really genius and also extremely devastating.
