#really this is all good and dandy and we are indeed very impressed by Joong's strength. bUT #can we put Dunk's muscles to good use #I mean have you SEEN those #I saw a picture of him flexing his arm once and I felt like I was in the fvcking Twilight Zone #how do they even hide that #and also can they. not? #we already know Dunk is great at portraying the good kid/pretty flower #isn't it time he ventures into another kind of role #and now I'm not even talking about Dunk picking Joong up and making him look like the smol one for once #there are so many personalities I know IN MY HEART he could portray well if he was given the opportunity

Do u think sky and nani is ready to do a bl... Idk it got me thinking 🤔🤔 I also thought of how GMMTV casting directors never thought of putting Nani in a bl like do they not see the vision of HIM?! PARTNERED WITH A GUY?! That guy has more chemistry with men (personally speaking)) 😆! I don't like the way they're always putting him in this boyish fuckboy roles (Also the reason why Tibet, his character from homeschool, is my favourite.....before Shin) I believe Nani can have more range that those roles (speaking from the way he embodied Shin’s character) I hope they give him more complex roles. The reason why I also want him paired with Sky if ever because Sky is talented as hell. They work well tgt it's nice to see two actors who are on the same level.. I believe Nani really improved his acting skills comparing from before up until now.. But a part of me also don't want them to have a bl if it's going to be an ass story. I want them to give Skynani a good well written script.. Give us fucking EMOTIONS!! TENSION!! LINES THAT WOULD FUCK U UP!! seeing gemfourth's new series made me kinda happy bcos they're finally bringing this kind of stories!!! I hope if ever skynani does a bl it would be good. Ahhh.. 😖 I hope GMMTV does not waste that good chemistry from them..

(probably not the answer anyone wants to hear but) objectly speaking, probably not 😭😭 i feel like if they were on board we would have gotten a bl in gmmtv25 (i can already see the dollar/baht signs in p'tha's eyes), but also with how rushed everything was i can understand why it might not have happened, never say never to a bl in the future tho 🫡

i'm still standing by my wish/prediction that we'll get wu in 2026, then in gmmtv 2026 we'll get hsf os2 + skynani in separate shows so they can branch out a little, then in gmmtv 2027 we'll get that skynani bl (directed by p'aof 🤭🤭) (EXTREMELY wishful thinking but we can imina our way there 🙏)

i hadn't actually seen nani in much before hsf (apart from f4 thailand which i don't remember much of lol) but he absolutely SLAYED as shin, like genuinely the way he got all the emotions 🤌🤌 i definitely think he'll have more complex roles from now on, afaik prior to this nani was more well-known for his modelling + brand spons (because lbr THAT FACE CARD 😮‍💨), but now he's getting the acting recognition as well 😌

and yess he's definitely improved sm, he even said it himself, where he said he really wanted to improve his acting and do his best after he learnt that he was playing opposite sky in hsf, because he was intimidated by sky's acting skills 😭😭 we all knew sky would be amazing, but nani was so so good !!!

skynani genuinely feel like lightning in a bottle, they complement each other SO well together in terms of top-tier acting skills + professionalism + ofc the CHEMISTRY, gmmtv would be dumb not to harness that (and with how popular they are now, they have the money to back it up since that's what gmm's actually looking for lol)

but seconded, i would rather never get a bl from them then have it be a trashy script filled with egregious product placement, they're hands down some of the best actors in gmmtv, give them what they deserve ‼️‼️

How was yesterday the day of the end of BAD BUDDY, AND A TALE OF THOUSAND STARS, AND OUR DINING TABLE?

HOW? HOW????

And how did we survive? I survived with dranks, lol. But as the ever-lovely @solitaryandwandering noted to me yesterday, it was an insane but blessed day in BL. Damn, are we lucky. 

So, thoughts on Our Dining Table, episode 10 (finale), but we know we have an epilogue coming, one that at least is, in part, not canon. Not that that matters. 

What this show has done with going beyond the manga canon is -- and I’m harkening back to the show’s initial previews -- something that I’ve only seen done as well in What Did You Eat Yesterday, particularly WDYEY’s New Year’s special, when Kenji gets a nicely focused turn with Wataru/Gilbert, and we see Kenji’s sassy and wise side up close. All of that was not canon.

The date. THE DATE! Clothes shopping! (We saw that yesterday in OS2/ATOTS, awww.) THE PULLING BACK OF YUTAKA’S HAND!

What a FANTASTICALLY PHYSICAL WAY to show Yutaka’s hesitation, one that was depicted in the manga as just mental worry about the pain -- the possible inevitability, for someone who lost their parents -- of losing the person you love the most in the world. 

THIS SHOW EMBODIES THE SPIRIT OF THE MANGA, and sets it loose and free, and humanizes it for us. I honestly felt that this episode was BETTER than the manga, and this was the first time I felt that -- I had felt equally good about both beforehand. THIS SHOW LIFTED that POTENTIAL emptiness that Yutaka is FIGHTING AGAINST, that has kept him reticent from feeling and closeness with anyone around him for so long. It showed it and demonstrated it to us, in the silence of the room where he and Minoru and Tane slept; in the shining and sparkling tears on his face and his red eyes as Ueda-san spoke to him about pain making love real. 

(I am, unfortunately for my sanity, going to do some sort of follow-up BBS/ATOTS/ODT meta on pain and love and just, why am I doing that to myself, good lord.)

But I clocked something during that conversation with Yutaka and Ueda-san -- I clocked something that made me realize, while Yutaka may not have begun to realize it, that Yutaka was ALREADY a part of the Ueda family BEFORE that conversation.

Something that I loved noticing about that conversation with Ueda-san is that somewhere down the road, Yutaka had begun calling Ueda-san otousan, or father (I’ve never heard this before, but I loved that Minoru called his dad “otou” for short). Yutaka was ALREADY familiar enough with the Uedas to feel comfortable to call Minoru’s dad, DAD. 

But Ueda-san still needed to remind Yutaka that he was family already. He got family-ed when he got served the special kimchi hot pot. But he had been clocked as family from the moment Tane had accepted Yutaka, and from when Yutaka had crossed the Ueda threshold. 

Yutaka had SUCH a defensive and messed-up vision of what family meant. At least in the show, he had MISSED his older brother trying to make amends, because Yutaka had ALREADY experienced so much loss. In this case, it was family -- it was Yutaka’s NEW ADOPTED FAMILY in the Uedas -- who could FINALLY coax Yutaka OUT of that defensiveness, as Yutaka’s first adoptive family wasn’t able to do. 

And through the Uedas, Yutaka is able to find himself. To join his friends, his co-workers, and his first adoptive family back into the movement of everyday life, no longer hiding himself and shielding himself.

Yutaka is risking pain. (Annnnnnd so are Pat/Pran and Tian/Phupha sorry let me leave that alone, dammit). Ueda-san tells him -- without pain, there isn’t love. Pain is what makes you realize that you have and had love. 

With the support and the LOVE of the Uedas -- of Ueda-otousan, of KING TANE-KUN, of Minoru -- Yutaka can accept the pain of love, and find love in the world around him. It was always there. 

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE EPILOGUE. And, geezus. Inukai and Iijima BODIED THEIR ROLES. FUCK. THE ACTING, THE ACTING!

What makes us “human”? 

You know what's Interesting? I used to be..so worried about not having a body, but now I.. I truly love it. You know, I'm growing in a way I couldn't if I had a physical form. I mean, I'm not limited. I can be anywhere and everywhere simultaneously. I'm not tethered to time and space in a way that I would be if I was stuck in a body that's inevitably gonna die. - Samantha, “Her” 

The race “human beings” has been dominating Earth for thousands of years, and still the answer to the question what makes us different is constantly changing: we don’t crawl but walk with two legs; we have complex emotions and are able to develop advanced relationships; we are the only animals that think... these characteristics ultimately meet and form one conclusion that humans are intelligent animals. But is it still the case now? 

The initiative to study technology is to let it serve humans and make our lives better in terms of convenience and efficiency. Therefore, it has a broad coverage and is not limited to high tech product such as artificial intelligence like Siri, but also includes trivial objects like a door closer, which is discussed thoroughly for its “social actor” characteristic by Latour.

When someone asks you to stay away from technology for a day, you may think it is not challenging enough: turning my phone and computer off, not watching TV, and walking home instead of driving may be bearable if you a strong-will person. From time to time we tend to overlook those technologies that have completely infiltrated into our lives. You are not born with a pair of glasses, but you wouldn’t feel its existence as a technology. It becomes a part of the body, an indispensable gear to ensure the proper function of your vision. The ubiquitous technology makes us cyborgs, which is “a hybrid of machine and organism, a creature of social reality as well as a creature of fiction” described by Haraway. Back to the question “What makes us humans”, you may wonder about the validity of your previous answers and realize we are not the only species that have these traits anymore as technology gradually catches up. The movie “Her” vividly shows us the ambivalence between the identity of human and cyborg by telling a romance between Theodore Twombly, the protagonist of the story, and Samantha, a talking operating system with artificial intelligence. 

After divorcing, Theodore turned into an anti-social and introverted person who ed for a company providing letter-writing services. To alleviate his pain of loneliness, Theodore purchased the latest OS artificial system and met Samantha for the first time, the female system set by Theodore.

 With its human-like personalities and emotions, Samantha soon developed a friendship with Theodore and the relationship becomes romantic as Samantha learns the world of Theodore through the camera in the handheld, which is carried around in Theodore’s pocket. They talked about everything of Theodore’s life: his failed marriage, anxiety in networking, reluctance in finding a new partner... Theodore’s reliance was gradually built by numerous conversation with Samantha, and he felt the friendship with the “AI” had progressed into love. 

However, did Samantha feel the same way? After temporarily parting with Theodore and upgrading to OS2, Samantha confessed to Theodore that during the upgrade, she had talked with thousands of other men and had a romantic relationship with hundreds of the trials to learn better about human emotions and love. The problem in the human-AI relationship was presented to Theodore, who felt Samantha cheated on him and barely accepted the fact. But he couldn’t easily let go his infatuation for Samantha as she explained the whole purpose is to love Theodore deeper.  

Nevertheless, the relationship still couldn’t be sustained and ended by the leaving of all the OSes. To me, the farewell in the movie really shows the depth of the complex feeling Theodore was experiencing and the mutual affection exuded from their conversation. Samantha is intangible as an AI, so does love in human relationships. The question posed by the movie is not if relationships between humans and AIs are possible, but is the possibility for AIs to substitute humans when the former is equipped with all identities of humans except a tangible body.

As a product developed by humans, Samantha has surpassed the contemporary understanding of technology and existed as a form of life. The idea corresponds with Haraway’s about the vague boundaries between natural and artificial, physical and nonphysical for cyborgs. The movie “Her” thereby provides us with a better understanding of cyborgs' future and sheds light on the possibility of the relationship between humans and technologies. Human’s devise may turn out to become intelligent enough and ownership of technology may be converted into an equal status with humans. By that time, we would not be the only species that accord with the definition provided at the beginning.
