Only two days had passed since they graduated, but they were a busy two days for both Zim and Dib. The first day was spent looking over their ship, taking it up into orbit to ensure it was fit for space travel, and making sure all systems were at full functionality. They'd added plenty of fuel, some engine lubricant, and even charged up all the batteries. And, while the Computer cleaned the hull until it shone, the travelers went over their plan again…to make it to civilized space, stop at a convenience station for Dib to get his bearings, then head towards a heavily-populated Fleavian market, deciding from there what to do.

The day after that was spent packing. They obviously couldn't take everything of Dib's, so he needed to carefully choose what to bring. He picked at least a week's worth of clothes to be added to the Voot's tiny closet, and encouraged Zim to do the same. He'd then filled a briefcase with cameras, notebooks and sketchpads, and plenty of pens and pencils, plus some empty containers and tools he could use to collect evidence. Voice recorders, video cameras…soon, his briefcase was stuffed.

He'd picked out one crystal—the rose quartz, which he had since imbued with a magic that gave it a soft glow—to bring along with them. He'd also brought some books, and double-checked their food stores to make sure it would last them at least a few weeks. Finally, he'd been sure to pack the taser/knife from Gaz and the telescope from Dad.

Over the months, they'd made the Voot bigger…mostly by borrowing a lot of machinery and metal from Dib's old ship. It was like a shabby space apartment, now—along with the original cockpit, there was a tiny bedroom-slash-lounge-slash-study, where the bed slid into the wall if they ever needed more space and a small closet along one wall. There was a tiny bathroom (that also had medical supplies and a small washing machine), and a storage room (divided into pantry, armory, and general storage) between the two.

It would probably be a bit cramped, but they should have everything they needed when they traveled between planets. Upgrading to a bigger ship could come later, when they had more credits to spend.

Extreme speed (Recap Kid is one of, if not the single fastest character we’ve seen in the series. We know this because in all of their recap panels, they say everything in one panel with one speech bubble, implying that Recap Kid is moving and speaking fast enough to do and say all that just a few seconds. This also implies that out of the four Recap Kids in a panel, the first three are afterimages. (I don’t have the exact math but those 3 afterimages put Recap Kid’s top speed somewhere around 50 KM per second. However, this is just an estimate of Recap Kid’s top speed that may very well be very off))

Shapeshifting (Recap Kid can canonically shapeshift and manipulate their hoodie into various other forms as well. Unlike the other shapeshifters in this competition, Recap Kid’s exact limits here are unknown)

Pyrokinesis (Recap Kid can generate explosions powerful enough to destroy a rather large Irken Ship, and can control fire, creating a ring of fire on command around Zim and DIb on one occasion)

Creation (Recap Kid can create objects from thin air, including objects that don’t exist in-universe (like a Gir Costume, The Comics they’re currently in and a copy of Enter The Florpus)

Enhanced strength (like her brother, Gaz shows feats of incredible strength (most likely because she’s a genetically modified clone), including but not limited to being able to throw Dib clean through a wall)

Enhanced agility and stamina (also like her brother, Gaz has enhanced agility and stamina, with the most notable example of this being her climbing up the side of an over 50 story building in the rain without equipment)

Fear (similar to Ms Bitters’ fear ability, Gaz is able to scare most people with threats of extreme violence. Unlike Ms Bitters however, it’s been shown that this ability has limits, with people like Zim showing no fear towards any of her threats. Gaz’s ability to cause fear doesn’t appear to work on anyone that already believes themselves to be on par with or stronger than her and people that are simply too egotistical or arrogant to care, making it a weaker version of Ms Bitters’ fear causing, which works on seemingly everyone)

Intelligence (Gaz is one of the smartest humans in the show, being one of the only people able to see through Zim’s disguise. She also shows skill with engineering and invention, being able to make her own machines (like the robot toys that guard her room) and fix alien technology, not unlike her brother’s skills with tech)

[Mostly Unusable] Gaming (although this seems like it shouldn’t affect anything, Gaz’s gaming skills are an advantage. The reason for this is that a lot of alien technology (mostly vehicles) use controls that are very similar to video game controls, meaning that Gaz can use alien vehicles extremely effectively. Sadly, Gaz doesn’t have any alien technology to use right off the bat)

Fun Fact:

Despite evidence in the show pointing towards the contrary, Jhonen Vasquez has confirmed that Gaz has no magic or supernatural abilities and that she is simply "someone you don't want to anger". This is why I don’t list any supernatural abilities in her Powers and Abilities section.

Additional Thoughts:

after being banished from Irk and tossed in an old beat up Voot cruiser RATHER than being recoded or worse, Callie tries to stay positive about the situation. a little while into some aimless space travel she finds this broken SIR unit in one of the compartments.

it takes her some courage to activate it. luckily it doesn’t appear to be automatically hostile; if anything, the unit is relatively friendly if not pretty spacey most of the time. every once in a while she tinkers with it to 1.) make sure there’s no connection to Irk and 2.) to see if she can get the unit to be any more functional. not that she really needs it, she’s not an invader lol.

one thing that bothers her immensely are those bright, searing red eyes that light up the ship with an eerie glow. it’s unsettling, it screams “danger” even if she hasn’t found a reason to fear the little guy. it reminds her of Irk, their mission, the SIR units out their aiding their masters in their conquests of other planets…

one day she shuts the unit off and installs some new LEDs or whatever to replace the red glow with a funky bright green. it seems to match what little of the unit’s personality she’s seen, and it smiles up at her for the first time when it sees the new color. :)

I was drawing Thyme a lot in 2005, which explains a lot about the design and the name lmao. Callie originally spent a lot of time on Earth, and I guess named her SIR after a fucking herb. And don’t even get me started on the ribbon, I just liked drawing ribbons. good lord. I’m not even gonna try to make sense of my 2005 brain but I’ll think of SOMETHING to tie the story together eventually.

The first thing Vox notices is that the light isn't right. it's not black and white like his dreams often are, but washed-out pre-dawn. He knows this place-- it's the tree in the yard of his childhood home. The street is silent all around him, no cars or people, and he's sitting on a branch, legs wrapped around it.

His dreams aren't often lucid, not to this extent. He could drop to the ground and go back inside, or keep climbing the tree. His mother had always encouraged him to, to act more like a child connected to something other than the scrap parts in his room.

He kicks one foot, and it's still feet above the ground... he's more than halfway already. He scoots closer to the trunk, resting a hand on it for balance as he lifts one leg to push him up from the branch, pulling himself onto the next one up. He sits back, and blinks, there's another branch right beside his head, and he touches his cheek-- normal head, not a TV screen.

Next branch... up, right there. Reach...

Before he's touched it he knows he won't be able to reach it. This body is too small, his arms haven't been this short since he was a child. But he hasn't been back here since he was one either, so perhaps that shouldn't be a shock.

He leans forward, trying to give himself an extra inch by pushing himself up with his other hand. He hasn't lived through this moment before, which means the choices aren't already made. He's as far as he can go, but still not far enough. Just a little taller, if he can just get his foot onto the branch he can propel himself...

He misses, already overextended from where'd he'd been reaching, with no time to correct. His foot slips out from under him, and he's falling before he even realizes he's moving downwards.

He hits the ground, and the sharp, dull sensation he expects for his skull hitting the ground doesn’t come, just the sound of shattering glass. He reaches a hand to his face, expecting blood, and instead, pulling away a shard of screen.

He wake up gasping, or at least as close to it as he gets. He’s already sitting up, was already most of the way before he even knew he was awake. For a long moment, he lets his chest heave. 

Shit, fuck, bad dream. That's all it is. He grabs his phone, the bright glare filling the room. Vox winces; it's late, not quite half past three in the morning. Too early to start work, in that time between when even the late clubs close, but before anyone wakes up.

He lets himself fall back against his pillows. Late, but the blue lights of his district are still slanting through the windows. He’s as dead as he’s been since 1955, his screen isn’t broken. If the tree still exists he'll be surprised.

His breathing evens out, but he’s not getting back to sleep. In life he’s have gone for a cup of coffee and a cigarette, but neither of those are exactly an option now.

No, no. He presses a fist to his face, trying to focus on anything other than the sensation of falling. It’s not real. He's had worse dreams before, why is this the one that's sticking with him?

He gets out of bed, pulling the blanket across the corner to make it seem like it's been made.

Vark’s asleep on the couch, and Vox scratches his head as he passes. Vark rouses enough to flick open an eye, before retiring to his rest. One of them deserves some sleep, because it’s not him tonight. 

He collapses onto his couch, and flips the TV on, scrolling through the channels.

Porn, no.

Fatal gameshow, no.

Late-night infomercials, no.

A channel that’s nothing but advertisements, the jingle for the newest limited edition of Voot Floops playing. He grimaces, pressing the “volume down” button until the sound is just enough to break the ambient silence. He owns every channel in Hell, he refuses to believe there’s nothing on at all.

He flips through another half a dozen channels, never stopping for more than a few seconds on each.

Music channel, one of Arrogant Sunday’s new songs. He doesn’t deal with them, he lets Em, considering they were her band. He listens for a few seconds longer, before switching away again. Catchy, even if it's not his go-to genre.

New things, selling things, boring things. He’s starting to doubt that there actually is anything on. Is this why it all swapped to streaming? But that requires too much forethought right now, he doesn't want to watch anything so much as he just wants to not think about his dreams.

Finally, he stops. It’s an old black and white channel, just as something ends with the host winking at the camera, and an old horror movie starts. He remembers this one, or at least something like it.

He finds himself fading off to the sounds of Hollywood screams and a mid-Atlantic accent, and doesn't have any dreams at all.
