I Headcanon this is the same man and I haven’t brought that up properly in a while.

So basically what I’m saying is that in my mind:

RED Spy is both Scouts’ dad and the warmer, friendlier of the two. The one who lets his chaotic teammates into the Smoking room to hang out and hypes them up before battle. The one who looks out for Ms Pauling and Scout, and tries to be an encouragement.

RED still withholds his identity and other secrets from his team, but they trust him. They know he’s grumbly but reliable. That he’d never sell their secrets to the Admin or anyone else. He trusts some of them to know his relation to RED Scout.

He’s also got BLU Scout’s mom as his soulmate/wife? and can actually confide in her in ways he doesn’t with the team.

BLU Spy isn’t easy to get along with. He’s cold and distant and grating and mean. Nobody knows why BLU Soldier continues to sit with him at lunch and try to be his friend. He gets talked down to and given the cold shoulder, even after years of working together. It simply doesn’t seem worth it to anyone else.

BLU Spy thinks within worst case scenarios, the worst possible performances on BLU’s part and the best on RED’s. He is anything but an encouragement to the rest of the team.

Not that he’s stupid, often his words have merit. But he acts as though Scout is too naive or young or dumb to take care of himself. Spy speaks of the weaknesses of his teammates and talks down to them in doing so, very rarely praising their good work.

His room is his and his alone, nobody else is allowed in. There is no smoking parlor with its library and alcohol and games and crackling fire, not for BLU.

BLU Spy seems trustworthy enough, but everyone except Soldier tends to hold him at arms length. He isn’t the go-to teammate to ask for advice or a favor. Not unless the others are busy or unable to help. You’ll have the nagging feeling that he thinks you owe him one and intends to collect, even if it’s not true.

There is no lady in BLU Spy’s life. His own team is barely in it and he seems hellbent on keeping it that way.
