i am sorry this can't stay in tags this needs a post. the way the second flint starts opening up with him silver immediately goes "i will be your doom, it is now inevitable that this will bring me to kill you". is soooo. in line. with the most recent tumblr literature.

silver is mixing his & flint's ideas of fate here. for silver s1 there is no predetermined plan, just a trickster playing with you. it's not even a given it will harm you, but it's better to stay on his good side and not dare too much. while flint maybe doesn't literally believe in God's mission, but he does see a greater plan for humanity giving shape to events.

so we get to silver s4 and he has partly become flint. this means he starts to see a plan is there but because unloved & the horrors he cannot believe it is good. he believes there is predetermination now, but he still believes it will come about by distorting his desires to the worst possible end. so when he says to flint that if they keep going he will kill him he's not. he's not just creating a smokescreen for his desire, he's not just deflecting from flint's gaze, or trying to give their relationship an antagonistic narrative to reduce it to something he can understand and live with. like he is also doing all that.

but most importantly for him to want flint is literally = to kill him. in his mind there is an immediate translation happening whereby to feel this kind of desire will bring an immediate and inevitable misfortune upon you. whereby fate, seeing that he wants flint, will make it so that he has to kill him. it's not even a prediction this is like. a logical necessity.
