Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey will be getting a new miniseries that will arrive in March. Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti will be collaborating once again for the miniseries.

During New York Comic Con last year, DC Comics announced that there will be a new miniseries from fan favorite creators Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti. These two names have a reputation among both fans and industry veterans as the best when it comes to writing a good Harley Quinn story.

According to the release, the miniseries will hit shelves on March 4th and ship bi-monthly. The book will be part of the Black Label group of titles so expect a 17+ age suggestion. It will be in Prestige Plus format and retail for $5.99.

After Season 6, I have a lot of hope that, in the end, the characters I love will be OK. In particular, I want the Stark Family Reunion and a Dany/Jon alliance. At the same time, we know that this is a series that isn’t afraid to violently and completely demolish our hopes and dreams. What damage might Cersei, Euron, and/or the White Walkers inflict?

Let’s briefly recap where our faves (and not so faves) are at the end of the Season 6 finale (“Winds of Winter”), as well as what we’ve been able to discern from the recent Season 7 images and trailers:

Jon Snow is King in the North, and we (through Bran) learn his parentage: Lyanna Stark is Jon’s mother, saved from the Tower of Joy by Ned after she dies in childbirth. Sansa is also alive and free from Ramsay’s clutches. She’s the leading lady in Winterfell and has helped her half-brother assume the mantel of leadership. Although, Littlefinger might have sewn seeds of distrust between Sansa and Jon. As we begin Season 7, Jon seems to be in the process of putting together a force to take on the White Walkers. Meanwhile, Sansa seems to still be relying on Littlefinger for his advice (potentially against Jon). *SIDENOTE* This is me, still here shipping a Jonsa marriage.

Arya has reclaimed her identity and returns to the Riverlands where she slaughters Walder Frey and his sons. We know that Arya is alive in Season 7, and in a colder climate. Does this mean she’s making her way back to Winterfell, as she tells Jaqen H’gar before leaving Braavos? Similarly, it seems likely that Bran is heading home to Winterfell too.

Elsewhere, Dany, who is in an alliance with Yara Greyjoy, the Sandsnakes, and Olenna Tyrell, finally sails for King’s Landing to take the Iron Throne. Dany arrives in Dragonstone, and you can imagine returning to her family’s ancestral seat would be an emotional experience. With Tyrion at her side, Dany can execute her plans. This might include an alliance with Jon. This might also include Tyrion turning on the Lannisters and helping Dany take Casterly Rock.

And in King’s Landing, after Tommen commits suicide (a result of learning that High Sparrow, his followers, the Tyrells [Margaery/Loras], and many of the highborn have been killed in wildfire), Cersei has installed herself as queen. Interestingly, Jaime stays at Cersei’s side as she prepares to defend against Dany. My best speculation is that Euron (and the Iron Born loyal to him) will be part of Cersei’s defense. How will Jaime feel about that???

So, it shouldn’t surprise us that the episode summary is super vague. However, if you take a look at the promotional images from “Dragonstone”, we can infer a little more.

Brienne and Pod have returned to Winterfell, which means Sansa will have someone trustworthy at her side. Our favorite Lady Lyanna Mormont is also present and is probably being a strong supporter of Jon and calling out all those who are hesitant to join him.

Burglar – Using Track Treasure will deactivate an active resource tracking skill and vice versa. Only one type of item may be tracked on the mini-map at a time.

Captian’s Reform the Lines skill has received a visual update.

Captain – Elendil’s Fortune buff is no longer removed when the Captain is healed.

Captain – Five stacks of Elendil’s Fury will now cause your next Blade of Elendil to consistently grant a defeat event.

Captain – Last Stand Heal legacy will now properly increase the Last Stand heal.

Captain – Increased initial value of Defensive Strike Armour Buff legacy.

Crafting

New crafting recipes for endgame tokens: Two Host of the West recipes have been added to the Anorien crafting tier for each profession (Cook, Jeweller, Metalsmith, Scholar, Tailor, Weaponsmith, and Woodworker). You can also acquire 2 additional recipes per profession via rep barter, and there is a 1-shot recipe that drops for each profession.

Featured Instances

The Featured Instance rotation has been updated. The new Featured Instances are the Lost Temple, Glinghant, Fornost: Wraith of Earth, Seat of the Great Goblin, Sword-hall of Dol Guldur, and Flight to the Lonely Mountain.

Featured Instances can now drop Wastes crit crafting items and reputation token bundles for the Host of the West Quartermasters.

Items

The T2 challenge Throne of the Dread Terror now offers an “Ornate Inlay” which can be bartered to update existing Throne of the Dread Terror equipment.

Skirmish – The price of the Small Reputation Acceleration Tome is being increased to better reflect Mark and Medallion acquisition rates.

Return to Arnach travel skill scroll now properly requires Friend standing with Rangers of Ithilien, not Kindred.

Older and scaling instances received a large scale pass to provide/improve Beorning specific container drops where they were missing or not class appropriate.

Nanu has finally come out of hibernation and started moving again! The turtle’s hiding place has been updated.

Dyes – “Dark Purple” and “Deep Purple” were used in different places to refer to the same colour. All references to this colour have been unified to “Dark Purple.”

Sigileth’s daggers are now appropriately flagged as daggers, not swords, in the wardrobe.

Auction House – Cosmetic Pets – The Aurochs Calf, Stowaway Rat, and Sand Flies cosmetic pet items now properly post to the “Cosmetic Pets” Auction House category.

Pet Collection

Pet Collection has received an overhaul. The UI now displays every pet available in the game. Players can now preview pets, summon pets they own, and drag a pet skill to a quickslot from the Collection UI. The old pet collections and associated titles can now be found under Social Deeds. To complete these Deeds, summon each pet in the Collection.

Two new Pet Collection Deeds are now available: Best Bugs and Fetching Foxes.

Quests and Adventure Areas

Two new Flora repeatable quests for the Wastes have been added. These quests count towards Assisting the Herbalists: North Ithilien, and are bestowed by Arador after completing the Noman-lands quest content. Phials of Golden and Violet extracts can be collected from Flora in the Wastes, and traded for rewards at the Herbalist.

Players with the vector quest “Incubated by the Flaming Deeps” underway (incomplete) will have to re-obtain the quest from the NPC.

You can now perform emotes on the stages in Belfalas premium housing areas.

The Bree Scholar’s Hall no longer has a visible exterior.

North Ithilien – Cair Andros: The Captives – fixed Maushlak occasionally not entering combat.

Instance: The Reclamation of Talath Anor – Typo/wrong voice over in instance entry dialogue and background dialogue has been fixed.

UI

Four additional custom Chat Tabs are now available. These tabs can now display across two rows at the top of the Chat Window.

In the Fellowship Mini Panel, fellows buffs and debuffs will no longer disappear after a fellow is defeated.

The accelerator button should no longer appear on the Deed panel for reputation deeds.

Mount skill icons should now all appropriately grey out when the skill cannot be used.

Added a Stable-masters Collection button on the radar.

The Mordor map should now more correctly display fellow member locations.

Miscellaneous

Fixed a display problem that would cause effects icons to jump around and flicker. This should also be a small performance improvement for the client.

The following emotes now have animations: assist, attack, blush, brb, curtsey, drool, fight, grumble, hug, innocent, mumble, pat, ready, resist, rest, stare, stretch, succumb, sweat, tear, wait, & wink. “Nothing” should be the only text-only emote remaining for all races now. The /pat emote chat text has been changed to reflect the new animation. The hug emote will now show hugging self animation.

You will no longer see any mobs above level 105 (until Update 21).

The French and German Mordor maps have been updated.

NPCs standing with crossed arms will no longer show held items.

Beleriand weapon particle effects are now more noticeable.

A researcher has published a proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit code for the CVE-2019-2215 zero-day flaw in Android recently addressed by Google

Earlier October, Google Project Zero researchers Maddie Stone publicly disclosed a zero-day vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2019-2215, in Android.

According to the expert, the bug was allegedly being used or sold by the controversial surveillance firm NSO Group.

Maddie Stone published technical details and a proof-of-concept exploit for the high-severity security vulnerability, seven days after she reported it to the colleagues of the Android security team.

The flaw is a use-after-free vulnerability that affects the Android kernel’s binder driver, it could be exploited by a local privileged attacker or a malicious app to escalate privileges to gain root access to a vulnerable device. Experts warn it could potentially allow to fully compromise the device.

The flaw affects versions of Android kernel released before April last year. This vulnerability was addressed in Dec 2017 in the 4.14 LTS kernel [1], AOSP android 3.18 kernel [2], AOSP android 4.4 kernel [3], and AOSP android 4.9 kernel [4]. The expert pointed out that Pixel 2 with most recent security bulletin is still vulnerable based on source code review.

This means that most of the Android devices available on the market with the unpatched kernel are still vulnerable to this vulnerability, even is the owners have installed the latest Android security updates.

Maddie Stone explained that the flaw is accessible from inside the Chrome sandbox, the issue is exploitable in Chrome’s renderer processes under Android’s ‘isolated_app’ SELinux domain. This means that a remote attacker could potentially exploit the flaw by chaining it with a Chrome rendering issue

Last week, Google released security patches for Android, the tech giant announced that patches to address the CVE-2019-2215 in Pixel 1 and Pixel 2 devices will be included in the October update.

Now the researchers Grant Hernandez, a PhD candidate at the Florida Institute of Cyber Security at the University of Florida, has publicly disclosed a PoC exploit code for the CVE-2019-2215 vulnerability.

“All I needed to do was compile the exploit and run it over ADB. I downloaded the latest Android NDK and compiled the proof of concept. I ran it on my device and confirmed that I was able to reproduce Maddie Stone’s screenshot exactly.” reads a blog post published by Hernandez.

“The base PoC left us with a full kernel read/write primitive, essentially game over for the systems’ security, but left achieving root as an exercise for the reader,”

The expert explained that an attacker that aims to get a full root shell would need to bypass multiple layers of security defense implemented by Google, including Discretionary Access Control (DAC), Mandatory Access Control (MAC), Linux Capabilities (CAP), SECCOMP, Android Middleware.

Hernandez pointed out that an app accessible kernel exploit allows the attacker to easily bypass or disable all of these layers of defenses.

The expert detailed how to bypass DAC and CAP and how to disable SELinux and SECCOMP. The expert created a one-click rooting application called Qu1ckR00t.

“Once I had a reliable working exploit that I could use over ADB, I decided it would be neat to see the exploit working from an application context. I created Qu1ckR00t (the name is satire) as a one-click rooting application that also YOLO-installs Magisk.” concludes the researchers that published the PoC exploit code on GitHub. “There is nothing novel about Qu1ckR00t, but it is cool to get a little taste of a typical iOS jailbreaking flow on Android. Maybe in the future if OEMs like Samsung completely remove OEM Unlock, this kind of rooting method will return to popularity.”
