Didn't Putin say a year ago that "the operation was not an invasion"? It's the same now, vsyo v poryadke, nothing to see here. Just "a march for justice", not a coup or anything.
(To be fair, I still want Wagner cutthroats to answer for their own war crimes alongside the Russian military. But in the meantime, let them duke it out.)

UK defence ministry: Wagners join the command staff
Major elements of the mercenary group Wagner have probably joined the command staff of the Russian National Guard (Rosgvardiya), the UK defence ministry reports.
The death of former Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin caused many changes among Wagner group personnel. Now the head of the Wagner unit in the Rosgvardiya is probably his son Pavel Prigozhin.
However, not all Wagner members have joined the Rosgvardiya, some have probably joined another Russian private military company Redut, a 7,000-strong private military company, according to the UK defence ministry.

Fighting was intense around the city of Bakhmut as Ukraine claimed some gains there Oleksiy Danilov, who heads Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, said the Ukrainian counteroffensive against Russian forces had been “particularly fruitful” in recent days, although he did not go into detail. Ukraine’s Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar reported gains around the ruined eastern city of Bakhmut amid fierce Russian resistance. Russia’s defence ministry said its forces struck three Ukrainian army groups near Bakhmut. Ukraine’s military said it destroyed a Russian “formation” in Russian-controlled Makiivka in the front line Donetsk region. Moscow-installed officials and media said one civilian was killed and dozens wounded in the attacks. The governors of Russia’s Kursk and Belgorod regions say the areas came under fire from Ukrainian forces across the border. No casualties were reported. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) requested “additional access” to parts of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine after Kyiv and Moscow accused the other of planning attacks at the site. IAEA experts based at the plant said they had seen no evidence of mines or explosives but needed access to areas including the rooftops of reactor units 3 and 4, parts of the turbine halls and some parts of the cooling system. Tension around Europe’s biggest nuclear plant rose. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Moscow was creating “dangerous provocations” at the site, while the Kremlin claimed there was a “great threat of sabotage from Kyiv”. Russia plans to send more Chechen fighters and convicts to fight in Ukraine and fill the gap left by Wagner mercenaries who have been pulled out from the front line, according to a report from Bloomberg News, citing European intelligence officials. The United Kingdom’s defence ministry said last month’s short-lived Wagner mutiny had “worsened existing fault lines within Russia’s national security community”. It noted senior officers including General Sergey Surovikin, commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force and deputy commander of Russian forces in Ukraine, had not been seen in public since the June 24 rebellion. The general staff of Ukraine’s military said there had been an increase in infectious diseases – and a possible outbreak of cholera – in the Russian-occupied region of Kherson since the breach of the Nova Kakhovka dam last month caused severe flooding. United States President Joe Biden has said he was “anxiously looking forward” to Sweden joining NATO, as the White House renewed calls for Turkey to approve Sweden’s bid to join the alliance ahead of next week’s summit in Lithuania. The United Nations said it was “worried” about the survival of the Black Sea grain exports deal, which could collapse within two weeks, threatening global food security. The UN and Turkey-brokered deal to allow Ukrainian ships to transport grains from Black Sea ports to the rest of the world is due to expire on July 17. The Kremlin said it could not confirm a Financial Times report that Chinese President Xi Jinping had personally warned Putin against using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia and China had issued statements at the time on the content of their talks and “everything else is fiction”. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a bill imposing sanctions on 18 entities registered in Russia, Luxembourg and the Republic of Cyprus which he said were linked to Moscow. Russia banned the Altai Project, a small US-based charity, accusing it of “sabotaging” the construction of a huge gas pipeline to China. SOURCE: AL JAZEERA

Vladimir Putin has been the leading political figure in Russia for most of my adult life -- basically this entire century -- and I've never seen or heard him more shook than he was in the short address he just delivered.
This shit is real.

So is Wagner Group really trying to mount a coup in Russia? A PMC with 50,000 troops (according to Wikipedia) vs Russia. I'm sure this will go great for them.
Apparently they're marching on Rostov-on-Don, which makes me wonder what effect this will have on the Russo-Ukrainian war, since Russia suddenly having attacks within their borders from their own assets, while Ukraine is performing a counter-offensive, is a pretty significant shitshow to deal with.

Note
Right now, it's Putin vs Wagner Chief Yevgeny Prigozhin.
Wagner was "Putin's chef".
Let me tell you in short how much more dangerous Wagner is to Putin. Besides hacking every civilian TV in Russia, Wagner's mercenaries began attacking Putin's military and they have successfully taken over two bases. Some of Putin's military are surrendering. Nobody had any warning and usually there is one just like when Putin's started attacking Ukraine. They knew he was going to attack even though he said he wasn't. (Hell, we had warning about 9/11.) But this tells you how loyal Wagner's men are to him. Wagner is telling Russian civilians:
"Stay inside your homes. This is between us and Putin."
But he's also telling Russian civilians they can join him. Russian citizens are asking Wagner's men to leave before their cities are destroyed like what happened with Ukraine. Putin is pissed and calling Wagner out for "Mutiny". Putin has ordered his military to destroy Wagner. Now you maybe wondering, how the hell did Wagner pull this shit off. This man had office power before Putin. He had billions to spend on a whole ass army. He knows where every bunker is too. Putin can't hide. Wagner's mercenaries are marching toward Moscow.
Wagner is taking no deal with Putin. I hope NATO is taking notes.

Kyiv: the Wagner group back fighting in Ukraine
Ukrainian sources say former members of the Wagner Group have returned to the battlefield in Ukraine.
In May, the Wagner mercenaries withdrew from Bakhmut, handing over control of the territory to the Russian military.
Serhii Cherevaty, Deputy Commander for communications for troops in eastern Ukraine told CNN:
“As of now, there are several hundred of them in our direction, on the Eastern Front, in different areas.”

Russia-Ukraine Live: Lviv bombed, death toll climbs to four. Ukraine Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko says the death toll from a Russian missile attack in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv has climbed to four. Human Rights Watch said both Russian and Ukrainian forces have used cluster munitions that have killed Ukrainian civilians.President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said slow weapons deliveries to Ukraine delayed Kyiv’s planned counteroffensive, allowing Russia to bolster its defences in occupied areas. Russian state TV launched a fierce attack on Yevgeny Prigozhin, the exiled mercenary leader of an aborted armed mutiny last month, and said an investigation into the revolt was still being pursued. Wagner Group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin has vowed to defy an order from Russia’s Defense Ministry to fall under the regular army’s command—and he now says he’ll take other defectors under his wing to build the mercenary group’s ranks.
His comments, perhaps the biggest indication yet of a potential military coup, come after Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu signed a decree mandating all volunteer fighters to sign a contract with the ministry by July 1. The move is widely seen as a bid to centralize military control and limit Prigozhin’s influence in the war after he spent months airing the dirty laundry of Russian infighting and, most recently, was accused of having his fighters routinely abduct and torture regular Russian troops.
But according to Prigozhin, it all boils down to jealousy. Shoigu, he said, “can’t stand anybody who does something better than he does. And that’s why everyone is supposed to lick his boots. Wagner has never done that.”
He went on to say the mercenary group was already taking in volunteers who don’t want to answer directly to the Defense Ministry.
“Volunteer units are contacting us. We are taking them into our ranks as separate assault detachments and building them into our general command and control system, in which we cover them with artillery, aviation, provide intelligence and everything that is necessary,” he said via his press service.
Separately, he accused the country’s Defense Ministry of repeatedly attempting to “destroy” the mercenary group.
“We’re not just talking about some kind of interference, but about deliberate, physical destruction. Both then and now,” he said, claiming top military brass intentionally failed to inform Wagner of an impending U.S. airstrike in Syria in 2018 that killed several of the group’s mercenaries.
More recently, he said, the Defense Ministry “tried to close [Wagner mercenaries in Bakhmut] without any ammunition.”
Prigozhin claimed he confronted Shoigu about the first incident at an event in the Kremlin in 2018. “I approached him and asked: ‘Can I talk to you about the situation that occurred on February 8 near Deir ez-Zor?’ He turned, calmly and arrogantly replied: ‘You wanted to be a hero? You played the hero. All the heroes are here now, in this hall,’ he said, casting his hand over those in expensive suits. “And you were just out of line.’”
Of Russia’s top military brass, he said, “They wore beautiful epaulets, but Wagner won in all countries of the world. This is where the jealousy comes from.”
The latest phase in the Prigozhin vs. Shoigu feud comes as ordinary Russians have reportedly shown more interest in the mercenary boss than President Vladimir Putin. The independent outlet Verstka reported Tuesday that in May, Russians searched the internet for information on Prigozhin twice as much as they did for Putin.
