after the newest chapter leaks I really need an AU fic of the Phantom Troupe touring and acting in plays written by Chrollo like they were supposed to 😭

It's that time of the day again, where I just have a conversation with my boyfriend and end up redrawing it as Drakgo.
Have a little break from my November shenanigans.

Thinking about Gale and Durge living in Waterdeep together. Durge doesn't hide his origin, so it's a pretty well-known fact that he's a bhaalspawn. Reformed, allegedly. He's polite, helpful, loving to his husband. People have good opinions of him. And then murders start happening all over the city. Bloody, cruel, horrible, and decidedly worshiping in nature. And no amount of previously good opinions can save Durge from being the immediate suspect.
After the first murder people start to avoid him, and avoid Gale as well. Gale's reputation at the Blackstaff Academy immediately suffers as a result.
After the second murder a week later, some people start being nasty to Durge, openly so. Many still remain quiet, but don't oppose the loud ones. Gale has to take leave from work until the investigation is complete. Parents have already been complaining and threatening to take their children out of the academy if he continues to teach there. No one wants their child to be taught by the spouse of a brutal serial killer, after all.
Durge feels like shit. No matter that Bhaal's blood doesn't taint him anymore, no matter how hard he's worked on himself to be a better person, his origin will always haunt him, dog every step he takes. And worst of all - Gale suffers for it as well.
After the third murder a week later, Durge isn't surprised that the authorities come to take him away. The investigation is still ongoing for what little that matters when everyone have made up their minds anyway.

Also I'm just gonna say that even if it were true that Rodimus was a """""true Prime"""" and Optimus wasn't, that isn't as much of an L for Optimus as people seemingly want it to be.
Like so you're telling me Optimus was never a chosen hero and the burden of the Matrix/leadership pained him morally, emotionally, and physically, yet he still survived 4 million years of war?
You're telling me he wasn't God's Designated Special Boy but he still tried his best to live up to that impossible ideal to the point of developing serious depression and suicidal ideation as a result of so much goddamn loneliness and self-doubt?
Optimus wasn't a "true Prime" and yet he still believed in ideals of reconciliation and ending the cycle of violence? He wasn't a true Prime but he still stayed on Cybertron trying to fix a broken, broken society while also trying to stop Earth from being invaded for a second time? He didn't even need to do that he could've just stayed in exile which he was originally supposed to do all along, and which he would've personally preferred?? You're telling me that Optimus wasn't Primus' Specialest Boy And Chosen Leader and yet he stepped into leadership anyways bc he perceived that there was injustice to be fixed??
Wow yeah I guess Optimus is just such an inferior leader, clearly his actual actions/moral character as person don't matter and his "worthiness" should be judged solely on whether the Magic Cybertronian 8 Ball liked him or not.

I'm starting to wonder if there is actually something legit about the 'right time' to turn Guillermo that Nandor keeps talking about...
It was brought up again in the premiere and something about how Guillermo said that "deep down I'm not ready [to become a vampire]" before Derek jumped him...
...what if Nandor hasn't actually been putting it off for no reason...what if there is actually a 'right moment' for it and this whole time we were thinking that moment had to do with Nandor being ready but what if it's about Guillermo being ready??

(we're going to ignore how shitty he turned out for a sec)
He does not look like he's asking permission to dance. This man does not square dance. He knows the terrain and how to handle it. When and where to get dirty. He can hog-tie me and turn me into his rodeo clown. He owns my ass 🫠

It's incomprehensible to me why people want to see AEW fail. At the most basic level, which some of these critics seem to focus on, there are more jobs for wrestlers which means more money and options in the business. More options means more competition which means all promotions are stepping up their game to put on fantastic shows which draw viewers, wrestlers, and other professionals. It means a better opportunity for any and all wrestlers to find what suits them best. On another end, multiple accessible promotions to fans means we can pick and choose what kind of wrestling we want to watch throughout the week. We can choose different shows from different promotions every week based on who is wrestling, and skip episodes that don't meet what we want while still seeing what we want to watch. Or, we can stay with a single promotion and watch all they have to offer as a whole. If you're out of your mind like I am, you watch as much as humanly possible because I love watching wrestling and don't really care about the promotion aspect of it.
The us vs. them dichotomy serves no one except perhaps a few billionaires at the very top who want to create monopolies in the TV industry and get all viewership on 3-5 channels. At that point, it's not even about wrestling. It's about people who can live off the interest of their backup bank account wanting even more money. And why the fuck would you want to encourage that?

somewhat niche academia rant of the day: a lot of basic science research is quite separate from the actual health application to humans, which is . fine and i personally want to do basic research not translational so i get it. but i feel like a lot of these researchers lack compassion for the people that their work is ultimately about/for. was thinking about this bc i went to a lecture that i was quite excited about. the speaker was studying why a disease has a more severe impact on obese people. and even though she wasn’t really talking about application to (human) patients it was so clear just from the figures she had on her slides that she had no compassion for this population and seemed fatphobic. left feeling really dismayed with the whole event and renewed belief that we need to teach science in context and care about the translation for impacted populations-even if that’s not the goal of our day-to-day research- beyond what we write in grants.
