Soooo, I know I’m supposed only to pick three pics, but honestly, I simply cannot (I know, no surprise there). I have been wanting to do a vibe photo dump for The Aid (the Whumpee & title of the story) but have yet to do it (hello, my ever-expanding Pinterest boards), so I’ll take this chance to explore The Aid’s past phases he’s gone through (pre & post-Wyatt {Whumper #2}) and give some explanations because it’s a lot. However, I don’t know if explanations are necessary for this tag game, but I’m famously too much, so of course, I’m going to over-explain myself because of my crippling fear of being misunderstood!

Ironically (ironic because his real name reveal doesn't come until around chapter 25-ish), I call his time with Madame Eleanor (technical Whumper #1) his “Aid Era” because that’s when he becomes this character we are introduced to and currently know him as. Yet, this is the part of his life he is phasing out of. **Insert something-something about being haunted by your past.**

In the current storyline, he is going through a succession of more changes, and his world is about to be turned upside down yet again, but I’ll hold off on showing those for now because they’re spoilers, and I have more than enough here!

Starting from the top, here we goooo—

Day 1

1. As soon as The Aid arrives at his new home, Madame Eleanor gets custom-made Gucci uniforms made for him that looks like this. This is his go-to everyday attire. (I spent too long looking at scrubs and hospitality uniforms on and off for over a month—tell me you like it and think it’s cool and sleek.)

2. He has a special built-in in his closet specifically for all his fancy, jewel-encrusted collars Madame Eleanor gifted him throughout the years, but this is what the facility's standard-issue collar looks like for his designation (Grand Servant: Domestic Aid).

3. His favorite Prada frames Madame Eleanor also got him that he bitches reminisces about in Chapter 6 (Wyatt breaks them because he’s an asshole, leaving him straight up blind for several months).

Fancy Threads

Eleanor Sullivan was a Rich Bitch™️ (I will make a separate post at some point about her house and The Aid’s room specifically because I spent way too much time obsessing over these deets), so best believe she had her servant dressed to the 9s in designer fits when out and about or for Family events and the like. She may also put him in a butler uniform from time to time when they were hosting a party at their residence—which was often, Eleanor was known for her soirées. (To clarify, he’d still wear a collar even when dressed up, and all those attending knew who and what he was.)

The Host

He loved a good party just as much as Eleanor did! He likes serving and seeing people have fun and enjoy themselves (people-pleasing empath). He was known for his food displays and had a knack for creating a proper afternoon tea spread that garnered attention from all those present. I also have Pinterest boards of some appetizer spreads and cool drink tables he would put together because I was really trying to understand him as a character.

Speaking of Empath…

We can’t talk about him without bringing up his not-so-secret secret! Lil’ homie has a gang of abilities (telepathic empathy, hyper intuition, premonitions, and psychometry) just bubbling up inside him at all times. His relationship with himself and his sixth senses is complicated, to say the least—he finds them burdensome, yet he cannot function without them, despite how much he argues otherwise. It’s a whole thing, but for a certified Telepathic-Empath™️, he sure is dead inside (which only gets worse after Wyatt OFC).

Domestic Duties

Not only can he slap together the best charcuterie board you’ve ever seen and easily untangle Christmas lights, but he’s also a man who can cook, clean, and keep a house. What can’t he do?

Hobbies? Interests?

Don’t be ridiculous, he didn’t have time for leisure activities! But when he had some occasional downtime, he would spend an ungodly amount of it doing facials and grooming himself. He also loved to go to the spa with Madame Eleanor. As far as reading went, he wasn’t into novels, but he would occasionally peruse short-story myths and legends, old fables, or read picture books in funny voices to Eleanor’s grandchildren. Primarily, he’d like to read trashy magazines, comics, and cookbooks. But let’s be real, he considered cleaning, gossiping, and baking his primary hobbies.

RIP Madame Eleanor Sullivan

(She’s been dead for about a year and a half when they story picks up)

First and foremost—above everything else—The Aid was Eleanor Sullivan’s literal live-in medically trained caregiver, which is why she bought him in the first place. They had a very close relationship for five years, and he did everything for her. When she died, his world was shattered, and he took her death really hard. Wyatt was jealous of his Mother’s relationship with her servant from day one, which is where part of his animosity comes from. Quick note—Eleanor was a posh, vintage-Chanel-wearing Grandma and would never be caught dead wearing a bathrobe outside. Eleanor was Queen of being That Bitch.

Enter: Wyatt Sullivan

These pics are pretty tame all things considered, but after Eleanor’s death, The Aid is now in a World O’ Hurt and the subject of Wyatt’s drug-and-alcohol-fueled rage. The Aid went from a high-class servant loved by his Madame and respected by her friends, associates, and family (besides Wyatt) to a human punching bag overnight. The beef between these two runs deep and maybe Eleanor isn’t as innocent as she seems. Stick around and you’ll find out all the Sullivan family tea.

Where We’re at Now…

Quite the fall from grace, wouldn’t you say? Our boy is currently bed-ridden and zombified while having the worst time imaginable. He’s drugged up, fucked up, and can’t move half of his body! But don’t be fooled, this stay-cation is no fluffy recovery arc and you’ll meet some more distasteful Sullivans soon to come!

This took me an embarrassing amount of time to assemble, but I went the extra mile because this doubles as a reference guide. I had a lot of fun making this and I may make more (and way more chill ones that are just three pics, I swear) after I write Part 2 and introduce a gang of other characters alongside my most favorite-favorite guy!

it’s father’s day! where my muses are today :

alex.  she doesn’t visit, but she does call/video call her father and makes a genuine effort to stay civil. she sends a few texts out to recent clients who’ve just had their first babies wishing them a wonderful first father’s day. bastien.  he’s kind of quiet, kind of angry most of the day. he googles thomas simmons and pisses himself off and sulks for a bit. he calls his best friend aeron’s dad because that’s the closest thing he really has and tries to do something nice for him. probably spends some time with mel (his honorary niece) so she doesn’t feel weird about not having a father figure around. benji.   he goes home, spends the weekend with his dad, goes on a hunting trip and keeps a smile on his face while his father reminisces old times. charlie.   she kind of disappears, which she figures no one will question since part of her alias as charlie is that her father is dead. in reality, she travels two states over and calls her father’s phone from a payphone/burner phone when she knows he won’t be able to answer, so she can hear his voice on the answering machine and cries her heart out at the sound of it. delilah.   she spends the morning with her husband, as this year is his first father’s day since their daughter was born. she gets lunch with her papa and spends a solid hour on the phone with her biological father. eli.   she spends the day busy, trying to keep the little ones entertained and happy and battling the overwhelming mom-guilt that they don’t have a father to celebrate. ford.   while he’s had the urge to stay half-drunk most of the day, he doesn’t, preparing for the rush of dudes out with their dads and losers like him who drink to forget their dads. (and he blinks back tears when his little brothers show up to the bar and raise a joking toast about how he’s really the only dad they’ve had and he did a pretty damn good job at it). jake.   he avoids home, won’t pick up the phone if his brother calls because he can’t handle pretending to reminisce about maxwell. he stays busy, distracts himself, helps his friends set up father’s day celebrations for their dads and avoids the topic when addressed altogether. john.   he visits his father’s gravesite for awhile, tells his little brother every story about john sr. that he can remember, and sits with his mom at the facility for awhile. leo.   he goes to his father’s grave, tries his hardest to get theo to come with him, but fails. he doesn’t talk to theo much on father’s day, as they have starkly different opinions about james. after visiting the cemetery he goes back to work, feeling a little sad but mostly okay. seth.   he’s quiet. he wishes more than anything he could go back to his hometown and visit his father and grandfather’s graves with his brother, but knows it’s not an option, so he does nothing, acts like it’s a normal day, prays no one asks him what his plans are. silas.   he gets up early, does as many chores as can be done before sunrise, and takes his dad out on the horses. it’s a struggle, with chris’ limited mobility and muscle spasms, so they take it slow as they head out. they don’t talk almost the entire day, but when he looks over and sees his father look almost happy for the first time in months, he can’t help but smile. wyatt.   ironically enough, he leaves his father’s grave in nashville and goes home to kentucky and spends the day with his uncle travis, pestering him for stories of beau’s younger years and more harmless exploits.

It's still dark when Wyatt wakes. That in and of itself isn't too surprising, these days his sleep schedule can only be described as 'absolutely fucked'.

What does manage to surprise him, however, despite its increasing regularity, is the presence of two other bodies in his bed. One smaller, cooler, pressed against his right side, her arm tossed over his stomach, the other larger, warmer despite facing away from him.

This feels inevitable, in a weird way. They feel inevitable, the three of them. He almost wonders why he'd been so scared to suggest taking up one of Jake's teasing offers to join him and Delilah in bed. Why should he have been? They were always going to end up here, weren't they? It was always going to happen. From minute one there had been something to their odd little trio, and he almost feels stupid for only attributing it to stage chemistry at first.They balance each other in a way that feels right. The push and pull of Delilah's fire, Jake's steadiness, Wyatt's passion- it's just as exhilarating as it is comforting.

Delilah stirs slightly and for a moment Wyatt holds his breath, all too keenly aware of how little it takes to wake her, and how little rest she gets anyway. Luckily, however, she stills after only a second or two, those pretty eyes of hers fluttering for a fraction of a second before she exhales and falls still.

His gaze drops to her hand on his bare skin, to the band of flowers tattooed around her small wrist, the counterpoint to the ring of barbed wire around his own and the guitar strings around Jake's. They were supposed to have been a memorial of the tour, of success and growing recognition, but now they felt like more.

It's supposed to be just sex. At least where Jake's involved. Delilah's his girlfriend, he and Jake are just best friends. The guitarist joining them is supposed to just be fun, nothing more, but there's no denying the way that had gone out the window the first night they'd ended up tangled together, like a piece they hadn't even realized was missing had fallen suddenly and perfectly into place. They all know it. It's not something they talk about out loud, but it's there, even now, buzzing just under the surface like an electric current between them. It's there when he and Delilah soothe Jake out of nightmares, when Wyatt catches either of their eyes mid love song, when Delilah calls them he and Jake her boys.

There's a shadow in the new fullness of his heart to be sure, the fear that this is wrong, somehow, despite how utterly right it feels, the way his chest aches when Jake falls behind them in public, the odd, pained look on his guitarist's face when the three of them spotted a tabloid speculating on engagement rumors between he and Delilah, the way he can kiss Delilah before going on stage but Jake has to wait until later, until they're alone, until no one can see.

Now though, that shadow has been relegated to the far corners of his awareness, especially when he realizes that somehow, without even touching, Delilah and Jake's breathing has synced.

He decides, rather abruptly, that Jake is too far away and turns onto his side, slowly so as not to fully extricate himself from Delilah nor risk waking her, and reaches out to close the distance. The blond shifts, but relaxes back against Wyatt's chest with a sigh so utterly content it makes a lump form in his throat.

The sky is growing lighter outside, dawn just beginning to peek in through the windows, and he knows both his lovers will be awake soon, that Jake will make breakfast while Delilah makes coffee and Wyatt figures out the schedule for the day. He knows they'll spend as much of their morning as they can safely within the confines of their small, secret world, before the rest of the world keeps spinning and they're forced back into a reality where Jake is consistently relegated to the sidelines and Wyatt and Delilah play their parts as country music royalty.

For now, however, it's just the three of them, wrapped up in the blankets and each other, and Wyatt's warmer than he's ever been.

EAST HAVEN'S 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY EVENT: THE WIND STORM

With the 1 year anniversary of East Haven's opening, we have decided to have an event that centers around a wind storm that is blowing it's way through town, inciting chaos where ever it goes. The event will start on January 5th at 12pm (noon) and end on January 15th at 12am (midnight). No new starters should be posted after January 10th.

You were placed into groups that are listed below. You will be expected to write with at least one character in that group that you normally do not write with. You are still free to do other threads with others in the group, but are required to at least one.

Participation for this event will be mandatory. Acceptances and checks will be held as usual. Reminder: Injuries need to be in by January 3rd*. You can find the form here. Details of this will be posted on the 5th.

The Aid: Chapter 9–Special Sauce (Part 1)

No additonal chapter CWs for once! This is the lighter part in The Aid’s (Whumpee) POV. This is about as ‘nice’ Wyatt gets!

Aid’s abilities: EMPATHIC READING | ‘premonition/intuition’

Wyatt disappeared into The Aid’s adjoined walk-in closet—this door, too, was ripped off its hinges. Doors represented privacy and privacy alone, and that was a thing reserved only for free people. 

But the lack of a physical barrier didn’t mean there wasn’t one at all—The Aid’s prison bars were invisible, his freedom nothing more than a taunting illusion. 

A state-of-the-art satellite GPS device preinstalled with geofencing software was connected to The Aid’s RFID implants. Every square inch of the house and surrounding property was uploaded to the device’s database and accounted for, his every movement tracked and documented. The device pinged and lit up with an alert if he crossed a room’s perimeter without prior authorization. He couldn’t go to the bathroom or have a mental breakdown in the comfort of his closet—muffling his sobs in cashmere sweaters and Himalayan wool— without Wyatt knowing about it. 

Wyatt shuffled around some hangers, stomped into the connected bedroom, and slammed around some drawers with the usual amount of curses and huffing, then reappeared with an armful of The Aid’s clothes. 

“I ain’t putting ya’r fucking chonies on for ya. I don’t care how to beat to hell ya are.” Wyatt handed him a clean pair of boxers, sat the rest of the garments on the counter, and then rummaged through the first aid caddy. The Aid—more than happy to oblige—as quickly as his broken body would allow, slid on his underwear beneath the safety of the towel covering his lower body. 

He was running out of gas, and quick. The long-awaited suppression of feelings warmed him in what little way it could. The Klonopin was behind schedule this morning, but it finally arrived at the station—all aboard the Numb Dumb Express, destination: Apathy.

He kept his head down, staring only at the plaid squares decorating his boxers while Wyatt started re-bandaging his wounds. He couldn’t risk another mirror encounter with his demonic parasite or bring himself to look at Wyatt’s dumb face any longer, hence his sudden fixation on such a worn pattern. His eyes ran the length of the geometric lines and he debated color theory—his way of fighting off the swarm of monotonous fears. ‘Why were men’s undergarments always so drab and boring? Did the fashion industry think shades of earth tones defined masculinity?’ 

The Aid’s wavering focus floated upright, he dared to break the silence with a question. “Sir, do you miss Madame Eleanor?” 

Wyatt stopped mid-peel of the gauze pad wrapper and blew a harsh puff through his nose. His head swiveled to face his servant to exchange a long, unbroken stare. Wyatt’s lip twitched as his eyes swam with sorrowfully churned emotions. He turned back to the spread of medical supplies on the counter, plucking the gauze pad between the two strips of wrapper, and sighed.

“She was my mom, Pup,” he said quietly. Not a growl. Not a hiss. Not a grumble. Just a plain voice with a twinge of reminiscent sadness. The Aid didn’t often see Wyatt like this, vulnerable and showing him something other than his infamous brand of wrath or obscene mockery. 

The Aid felt sadness, too, a deep, grieving sadness. He would never admit it out loud, and certainly never to Wyatt, but the empty void left in his heart from his Madame’s passing oftentimes surpassed the grief of losing his own flesh and blood. Maybe it was recency bias. Maybe it was the guilt gnawing at him and a need for redemption instead of plain grieving heartache eclipsing his mourning when it came to the fatal accident costing the lives of his Dad and older sister. Maybe—probably, it was a combination of both. 

What was supposed only to be a thought slipped from his mouth, “You never talk about her...”

Wyatt side-eyed him. His eyebrows scrunched together as the unmistakable flush of irritation needled his features.

Time to course correct. “I miss her too—”

“Why?” Wyatt snapped. Distress marinated beneath the word, piping hot and steamy.  

“I served her for five years—”

“If she died after a year of ya knowing her, would ya grieve her just the same as ya are now?” Wyatt interrupted, turning back around, cold eyes beaming onto his.

The Aid gulped, his face pinched with concern. 

“Yes, Sir,” he said in a feigned confidence he hoped didn’t sound as disingenuous as it felt.

“Ya’ve served me for over a year at this point. Would ya grieve my death?” Wyatt’s voice sharpened to bitter resentment, knowing his servant hated him and preferred his dead mother over him—he had plenty of scars and bite marks to prove The Aid’s detestation towards him just as well. 

Whoomp, there it is. And he walked right into it. Fuck. 

“In my own way, Sir,” The Aid conjured up on the spot. Not a horrible save; hopefully Wyatt would accept it.

A few agonizing beats passed before his Master’s mouth slanted up into a smirk. Thanks to his winning reply, it looked like he got away Scot-free.

With that, Wyatt held out an open palm and threw a nod at The Aid’s mangled hand—a signal to quite literally hand himself over to him. The Aid complied, dutiful as ever, carefully placing his upturned wrist onto Wyatt’s expectant one. He couldn’t shake the tingles running up his spine accompanying the gesture. Every complaisant movement felt like another shred of agency was peeled off him and devoured by the man in front of him—like he was another step into a never-ending maze as Wyatt watched him fumble in the dark behind a double-sided mirror.

Wyatt surveyed The Aid’s wound stitching on the side of his wrist—much like The Aid did only an hour earlier—before the older man ran his index finger down the scar on The Aid’s palm. Wyatt knew this scar was different; this one meant something. It bound them together in some sick way. A mark illustrating Wyatt laying claim to what was rightfully his and his alone. A memory shared.

A wave of nausea rippled in The Aid’s stomach. 

POSSESSION

A sickeningly warm sensation burrowed under his skin, the thing fevers and cold sweats are made of. His mind muddied around the edges, the vibrancy of his internal and external thoughts colored over in a greenish tint. He was too weak to throw up his mental guard rails or to cut the link between him and Wyatt’s emanating emotion. Imprints of emotions he never felt himself firsthand were the ones hardest to shake. Part of him became intrigued, drawn in to the foreignness of it. But most of him—the rational, seasoned parts of him—knew better than to lose himself in the prickly throes of it. 

“Ya wouldn’t forget me, would ya?” Wyatt flashed a half-suppressed smile, a viper’s grin.
