Ugh Segiri’s Hero Quest, how it starts at least, makes me so sad for Sena!
My poor baby!
It makes sense that Segiri referring to themself as a number would bother Sena so bad. After all, Sena is also someone who struggles with her identity.
Hearing her so upset hurts my heart!

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Hero Class Inheritors
I love the Hero system in XBC3, however something that really caught my eye was how for the most part the class inheritor tended to be the character who interacted the most with the Hero during the hero quest. That said, I also found what exactly type of class our main characters tended to inherit.
Noah
Ethel (Attacker)
Zenon (Defender)
Juniper (Attacker)
Ino (Defender)
Melia (Attacker)
Mio
Teach (Healer)
Miyabi (Healer)
Masha (Healer)
Nia (Healer)
Eunie
Gray (Attacker)
Ashera (Defender)
Monica (Defender)
Taion
Isurd (Healer)
Alexandria (Attacker)
Cammuravi (Attacker)
Lanz
Valdi (Healer)
Fiona (Healer)
Triton (Attacker)
Sena
Riku & Manana (Attacker)
Ghondor (Attacker)
Segiri (Attacker)
Man going through this you really notice how much Mio and Sena gravitate to inheriting a certain type of class.

Happy Melly Monday everyone!
Time for another commission blog. This time, it's from a newcomer. @monolithtk
Tumblr media
At this point, it was sort of a given that I was going to commission this version of Melia for quite a while. Simply because this is the recent incarnation of Melia, and that many people have just finished with Xenoblade 3 as well as play through Melia's ascension quest in said game.
I found Mono mainly from a friend who was commissioning a whole bunch of Eunie art at the time, and he recommended me to them. It started when I wanted to ask them if they were comfortable with me commissioning a "spoiler hero character". Luckily, they were missing Segiri, so I was pretty much in the clear for another Melia commission later that week.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Nothing really much has changed from the sketch and lineart phase. But I should mention how I really like the sketch Monolith does of Melia. You can see where all the planning and work came in there, and it looks really good because of it. And when the art is transferred digitally, the lines become more thicker and more defined. Like Melia coming out of a comic book. It looks really cool.
As for the full art itself, WOW is it fantastic. Like I said, their art has a very distinct comic book style, but I feel like when it gets rendered with the lighting and everything, it just looks fantastic. Her glowing radiant wings are also fantastic as well.
Tumblr media
Monolith currently accepts commissions through a Google Form that is pinned to her social medias. They do Xeno-styled chibis and regular chibis, headshots, and many more offerings. Along with discounts for their bunny OCs (she loves bunny characters) and other things. They are rather inexpensive, and they do a nice job when everything is done.
Anyways, hopefully you all enjoyed this one. Tune in next week where I will be talking about Melia and a certain child on her lap. See you then!

My Top 3 Hottest Xenoblade 3 takes:
I’m actually fine if we never get to see Mythra’s kid
Likewise, I’d be ok if we never get to see how Noah and Mio found each other again
Segiri is a terrible name for her

the "lanz is egil's son" theory
Tumblr media
i've brainwashed myself into believing this i think
Let's start with physical traits. Machina are pretty limited here, since (barring Segiri and 13) there's not that much phenotypic variation other than build and eyes, especially with XB3 Machina since they don't have all the I'm-not-sure-if-that's-clothing-or-your-body that the XB1 ones do.
Build-wise, we know they're both fucking jacked. Shulk's blade did not cut deep enough, and Lanz wants something a bit meatier. (Though concept art Egil is a bit more of an emo twink.)
I don't believe red eyes are unique to Egil and Vanea among Machina, but they're certainly the only major characters with them (and we never see Miqol's eyes). I'm not going to score this as firm evidence because I don't want to spend a day of my life squinting at a few pixels in every NPC affinity chart portrait just to exhaust potential counterexamples, but if we take as a given that Lanz is related to a major character from XB1, one of those two are the obvious choice.
The next point is personality. While obviously someone can end up very different from their parents, and Lanz is certainly different from XB1 Egil in most every way, he matches up well with what we're told of Egil before Arglas got Zanza'd: he's kind, brave, protective of others, and extremely loyal to his friends.
Then there's of course Lanz's reaction to Joran returning as J: his first thought beyond disbelief is to declare him an enemy and immediately ask Riku if he can get a weapon that is capable of killing him, discounting any possibility that he could be reasoned with. While he's talked around a lot faster than Egil is from his attempt at killing his immortal former friend, it clearly hangs over him the rest of the game, and as part of that resolution he even tries to perform a suicidal sacrifice to take out a major antagonist to let the rest of the crew flee.
So there's some physical traits, some narrative parallels, but what really got my noggin logging is looking at Lanz's Ouroboros and Gold Face/Yaldabaoth.
Tumblr media
A lot of the superficial similarities - similar torso shapes, placement of the core/cockpit, the back cannons/whatever Gold Face's are it's been too long since I finished XB1, #MenInHeels - can be down to having similar mechanical designers - I don't know if it was the same exact designer, I haven't found a specific mechanical design credit for the Xenoblade games - but there's a lot of parallel or opposite elements, and Noah's Ouroboros vs Weltall tells us that the designers were definitely leaning into mechanical-design parallels.
Lanz's Ouroboros is black/purple with white/light blue highlights versus Yaldabaoth's gold/white with dark red highlights. Both have shoulders with prominent circular, fan-like discs, but for Egil, the pauldron sweeps out to two spikes in the back, while Lanz's comes forward - in fact, all the spikes on Lanz's Ouroboros are all pointed forwards, and all the sharper ends of Yaldabaoth are pointed back. Lanz has three concentric circles around the shoulders; Egil has a similar pattern as a "skirt" and on his back.
It's still all mostly circumstantial, but it adds up together to just a little bit more than I can ignore. Am I crazy? Yes. But I think I'm crazy enough to convince myself I'm right.
(On the more blatantly headcanon side of things, I'm going to go with "Lanz" as being derived from an awkward transliteration of Arglas's name into Machina script. There's absolutely no evidence for this but I think it's fun if we take the theory as a premise.)

If I were to think about adding another Xenoblade muse, Sena would def be up there. She's honestly one of my favorites from XC3. But then so are Eunie, and Mio, and some of the minor characters like Segiri...
And of course XC2 has a ton of greats like Nia (obvs) but also Pyra and Mythra, Poppi...
Really if I wanted to suddenly expand my muse list in general, it would probably be a lot more Xeno and RWBY girls.
