Sonic Villains: Sweet or Shite? - Part 12: THE HARD-BOILED HEAVIES
There are some villains I like. And there are some villains I don’t like. But why do I feel about them the way I do? That’s where this comes in.
This is a mini-series of mine, in which I’ll be going into slightly more detail about my thoughts on the villains in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, and why I think they either work well, or fall flat (or somewhere in-between). I’ll be giving my stance on their designs, their personalities, and what they had to show for themselves in the game(s) they featured in. Keep in mind that these are just my own personal thoughts. Whether you agree or disagree, feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions! I don’t bite. :>
Anyhow, for today’s installment, we’ll be covering the rotund oppression squad of Sonic Mania, and celebrated improv artists among the Badnik community: the Hard-Boiled Heavies.
Tumblr media
The Gist: Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower were heading to Angel Island in pursuit of a mysterious new jewel that their nemesis, Dr. Eggman, was on the hunt for. Unfortunately for them, a squad of Egg Robos had already beaten them to the punch, because literally everyone in the Sonic universe is faster than Sonic. Upon being unearthed, the jewel in question - the Phantom Ruby - wasted no time in working its magic, and with its unexplained distortion efforts, it sent Sonic and Tails (and Knuckles) to Green Hill.
Also, it gave the Egg Robos more than a few nifty accessories.
Tumblr media
The king was on his own with finding the tip of his scepter though.
Thus began a new adventure that proved to the non-believers that this franchise can in fact work beautifully when the characters have gameplay mechanics in common with each other and aren't going around picking up guns and turning into werehogs. Sonic was on a mission to get to the bottom of the Phantom Ruby shenanigans, but his upgraded opposition, dubbed the Hard-Boiled Heavies, did whatever they could to stop the hedgehog's pulse, which largely involved making use of old Badniks in refreshing and exciting new ways... much like themselves.
Tumblr media
This is a more compelling take on Arthurian legend than the entirety of Black Knight.
All the while, Eggman carried on using the Phantom Ruby to his heart's content to make things even more difficult for our heroes, like teleporting them away as often as a Kirby final boss, and giving Metal Sonic a brand new Final Smash. Eggman planned to use the Titanic Monarch, a giant robot that made the monsters in Shadow of the Colossus look vertically challenged by comparison, to achieve his lifelong dream of taking over the world. Complications arose however, when the leader of the Heavies decided he wanted the Phantom Ruby for himself. Sadly for him, this was not an Adventure Era title, meaning Eggman actually fought back, and on equal terms at that. Sonic, with his super form, was forced to take on Eggman and the King at the same time.
In a stunning revelation, Sonic defeated them both. But not before the Phantom Ruby itself teleported the hedgehog away one last time, to a different time completely, where he would experience a different journey altogether... Then he came back, did the whole thing all over again, and now he's cracking a cold one with the boys (and King, for some reason).
Tumblr media
Fucking 4Kids censors at it again.
The Designs: The Heavies are still Egg Robos at their core, so they share the same general body structure. Don't assume that makes them indistinguishable however, for they've been given a lot of bells and whistles that play to each of their thematic motifs, right up to their weapons of choice.
Heavy Gunner is a robo-bobby:
Tumblr media
"You're nicked, hedgehog... But before you're sent to the chair, are there any pencils you'd like me to sharpen for you?"
Heavy Shinobi is a stealthy ninja, despite being neon green:
Tumblr media
He speaks entirely in fortune cookies.
Heavy Magician is always dressed to impress:
Tumblr media
These guys certainly do make me feel like magic.
Heavy Rider is a rough n' tough knight of the round table... if that table was Eggman's:
Tumblr media
She dances when'ere she's able.
And the top dog, Heavy King, is suitably imposing without trying too hard and looking accidentally hilarious in the process, unlike certain other villains in this very series:
Tumblr media
Why did he watermark his chest hair?
His Majesty also gained a second form during his final battle, which sacrificed his legs for size, power, and high quality Tee Lopes rips.
Tumblr media
And a chimney for his head.
These designs already go far to give the Heavies their own sense of individual character. As you'll soon notice however, that's only half of it...
The Personalities: You can laugh all you want, but these Egg Robos in a game with no dialogue whatsoever managed to show vastly more personality than many of the villains in this franchise WITH dialogue. Look at this shit right here, and tell me they don't immediately ooze charm like it's nothing.
Tumblr media
Pictured: Love at first sight.
And this extends to your confrontations with each of them. Gunner is crafty, and willing to sacrifice his own men to cover his ass, but the panicked look on his face when things go south for him is very relatable.
Tumblr media
"Wait... I'm in a Sonic game...? ...For Sonic fans...? ...Oh god..."
Meanwhile, Shinobi puts up a cool and suave front, and never hesitates to go in for the kill, but he's not above playing around for the sake of his own cockiness.
Magician is a bubbly showoff, always popping up to mess with the heroes at a moment's notice. But she's also rather affable, and well-mannered to her mortal enemies.
Tumblr media
Almost makes up for the Strangelove hands.
And Rider is perpetually in the midst of a cocaine rush, as her thirst for thrill and fun never sleeps. Yet she appears to have great affection for her pet Motobug, Jimmy.
Finally, King is a no-nonsense frowny face with a Sean Connery accent who is sick of his fellow Heavies' shit, who can nonetheless back himself up as the group's undisputed leader.
They may be fairly straightforward, but through the subtleties of their animations, there's a lot of life put into these guys, and their characters don't start and finish with their default trait like so many before them. You don't need to be Shakespeare in a Sonic game. You just need to be memorable and entertaining while fulfilling your role. And the Heavies do that with considerable ease.
The Execution: This might come as a surprise to you, but I love the shit out of the Heavies.
Tumblr media
How can you hate this???
You have to understand that an overwhelming number of villains in this franchise not named Eggman have not only ranged from mediocre to terrible, they've also had a tendency of feeling the same as each other. When it's not a giant monster with little backstory of genuine interest, it's a guy dressed in all black who does evil for evil's sake. And that's without adding the recolours and their penchant for gaining disproportionate fandoms simply for being recolours.
Why is it, then, that a group who are all based on the same robot succeed where those villains fail?
Well, I'd argue there's a few elements at work there. The obvious one is that they're simply better implemented, and they leave an impression through their boss encounters and animations rather than whether or not they played tonsil hockey with Shadow or Amy in a fanfic. Another factor is that unlike other villains, they were never hyped up to be the Raddest, Baddest, Greatest Enemy of All Time for Sonic, and thus they didn't run the risk of not being able to live up to that claim. They were allowed to simply exist and do their own thing, as one addition to help compliment an overall package.
You could also argue that their status as a group works in their favor too, as it helps to make each of their traits pop out that little bit more. And they're honestly really clever with their strategies, like how Magician transforms into forgotten characters to spice things up, or how Shinobi's shurikens aren't actually shurikens, but rather Asterons, one of the most notorious enemies in the series. And need I mention Rider using a goddamn Motobug like it's a steed? These characters could have been very throwaway, but there's a surprising level of thought put into how each of them work, and giving them a characteristic spin that works to Sonic's tastes, and considering this is the same franchise that gave us a bad guy named Black Doom, I'd say it's worth noting.
Tumblr media
"...Please explain why Boobie Bots Weekly is in my search history."
So yes, in this world where Dooms and Mephiles's's's's's's have been running rampant, the Hard-Boiled Heavies share their creator's honor of making a name for themselves. And as much as I have a fondness for the Deadly Six in spite of their issues (Zazz and Zor are still hilarious, fight me), I will agree without argument that the Heavies are a much better execution of the quirky boss group format on the overall side of things. And I swear to GodJesus and the Bear, if they never make a single appearance past their debut, I will be a very sad panda. If they can give Silver and his tiresome schtick countless second chances (and failing to make it interesting every single time), they can sure as hell give these juggernauts another go.
But until then, at least we still have Mania. Now if you'll excuse me, Shinobi's about to teleport behind me. Hope it's nothing personal.
Crusher Gives the Hard-Boiled Heavies a: Thumbs Up!

The Quill Seal Of Approval Awards - The Best of 2018
Hello and welcome, dear reader, to the greatest, most important awards ceremony in the history of entertainment. The Quill Seal Of Approval Awards. The award of recognition that everyone on Earth covets even though they don’t know it. For the Quill Seal Of Approval is a most esteemed prize for hard work and artistry. Better than the Golden Globes, more prestigious than the BAFTAs and guaranteed to be more diverse than the Academy Awards. You know your film, novel, TV show or video game has achieved legendary status when some random nobody on the internet says it’s the best in some obscure top 10 list that’s read by only a couple of people. That’s the true sign of success.
First, a few parish notices. Obviously this is my subjective opinion, so if you disagree with my choices, that’s fine. Go make your own list. (also remember that my opinion is 100% objective, scientific, factual and literal truth and anyone who disagrees is clearly a philistine and a dummy and a poopy-head whose mum smells of elderberries). Also please bear in mind that I haven’t been able to experience everything 2018 has to offer for one reason or another. In other words, please don’t be upset that A Star Is Born isn’t on this list. I’m sure it’s as amazing as everyone says it is. I just never got around to watching it.
Okay. Let us begin.
Tumblr media
Inside No. 9 - Series 4
BBC2′s Inside No. 9, written by the League of Gentlemen’s Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, is an anthology series that’s often sadly overlooked, but it’s really worth a watch if you’re into shows like Black Mirror and The Twilight Zone, and this series in particular has been fantastic. We’ve had an episode written entirely in iambic pentameter, an episode whose chronology runs backwards, a live episode that really plays around with the format, episodes containing tragic and biting satire, and one especially twisted episode that brings out a side of Steve Pemberton we’ve never seen before. Series 4 has been a real treat from start to finish, with each episode beautifully written and expertly performed. Inside No. 9 deserves to share the same pedestal as Black Mirror, no question.
Tumblr media
Black Panther
I’m sure everyone knows about my less than flattering views on the Marvel Cinematic Universe by now, which is what made Black Panther such a breath of fresh air for me. Stripping away all the convoluted crap, Black Panther has often been compared to The Dark Knight, and for good reason. Like The Dark Knight, this movie uses the superhero genre to tackle real social and political issues. In Black Panther’s case, exploring just what it means to be black in the modern world. Boasting an impressive cast of black actors, strong female characters, an engaging and complex antagonist, fantastic special effects and truly excellent direction from Ryan Coogler, Black Panther represents a new benchmark for Marvel, the superhero genre and the film industry in general. It proves how important and how lucrative diversity and representation in media can be, and it unintentionally shows how flawed the Marvel business model has become. The reason behind Black Panther’s success is simple. It’s because it’s bloody brilliant. And the reason it’s bloody brilliant is because Coogler was allowed to realise his own creative vision without Kevin Feige and Mickey Mouse breathing down his neck. Perhaps they should take note of that in future.
Tumblr media
Deadpool 2
Of course Deadpool 2 is going to be on this list. Are you really surprised?
The Merc with the Mouth goes from strength to strength in the rare instance where the sequel is actually as good as, if not better than, the original. The first Deadpool was a great origin story for the character, but Deadpool 2 felt like an adventure ripped straight from the comics themselves. Crass, ultra violent and hysterically funny, Deadpool 2 is the crowning jewel of the X-Men franchise. Fan favourites such as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus return as well as new characters such as Domino, played by the exceptional Zazie Beetz, Cable, played by the astounding Josh Brolin, and Firefist, played by Julian Dennison who deserves all the success in the world because good God this kid can act!
But of course the star of the film is Deadpool himself with Ryan Reynolds once again proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that he understands this character back to front. Not only is he hysterically funny, capturing the character’s irreverent tone perfectly, he also absolutely nails the tragic underpinnings of Deadpool that make him such a wonderful character. In between the f-bombs and gore are moments of real drama and emotional pathos as the film tackles themes such as loss, discrimination, abuse and suicidal depression. All this whilst taking the piss out of 2017′s Logan.
Oh yeah, and it also features the first openly LGBT superheroes in cinematic history. Fuck you Disney! NegaYukio and Poololosus for the win! LOL! No, but seriously, now that you have the rights to X-Men back, if you try and censor Deadpool in any way, shape or form, I will kick your arse.

God Of War (2018)
“BOY!”
Yes Kratos is back, having successfully destroyed the world of Greek mythology and now has his eyes on the Norse Gods. And he has a son now. What could possibly go wrong?
Seriously though, this new God Of War is simply exquisite. While I have long admired the God Of War franchise for its interpretation and adaptation of Greek mythology, the previous games in the series have never exactly been the most sophisticated when it comes to storytelling (and the less said about the casual sexism, the better. Yes Sony, I promise I understand the thematic reasons behind playing a minigame that allows you to have sex with Aphrodite in God Of War 3, but it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s sexist as shit). God Of War 2018 changes all that with an intelligent and engaging story that allows us understand and connect with Kratos at a more personal level than we’ve ever done before. Taking place years after God Of War 3, Kratos is older, wiser and trying to raise his son Atreus in the hopes that he won’t make the same mistakes Kratos did in his past. Not only is the story amazing, continuing the franchise’s themes of vengeance and the strained relationships between parents and their children, the gameplay is also a ton of fun with many memorable moments and boss fights.
And as an added bonus, we get two strong female characters that aren’t treated like discardable sex objects. That was nice of them.
Tumblr media
Incredibles 2
The long awaited sequel to The Incredibles finally arrived in 2018 and it did not disappoint. Incredibles 2 was everything I could have wanted and more. Continuing on from the events of the first movie, we see Elastigirl take the spotlight as she fights the Screenslaver whilst trying to persuade the worlds’ governments to lift the ban on superheroes. Meanwhile Mr. Incredible takes a back seat as he tries to reconnect with his kids Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack and prove he can be a good, supportive dad.
Continuing to draw inspiration from Fantastic Four, X-Men and Watchmen, Incredibles 2 is... well... incredible. Expanding the world he created, Brad Bird tells a smart, funny and compelling story that stands head and shoulders above the majority of superhero movie fodder we get nowadays. Elastigirl flourishes in the lead role this time around and the kids get a lot more development, the Screenslaver is a great villain that compliments the themes of the franchise wonderfully, and we get to see a whole bunch of new characters such as Voyd and the Deavor siblings as well as the return of old favourites like Frozone and Edna Mode.
Honestly, the baby alone is worth the price of admission. Hopefully we won’t have to wait another fourteen years for Incredibles 3.
Tumblr media
Marvel’s Spider-Man
Marvel’s Spider-Man is an amazing game. But of course you knew that already. It’s made by Insomniac Games, the same guys behind Ratchet & Clank. Of course it was going to be brilliant.
Simply put, this game does for Spider-Man what the Arkham games did for Batman. Not only is it a great game with brilliant combat and fun web swinging mechanics, it also has a great story worthy of the wall crawler. Unlike the movies, which seem to continuously yank Peter Parker back into high school with each new reboot as those the poor bastard were attached to the fucker on a bungee rope, this Spidey has been fighting crime for eight years. With great power comes many responsibilities as we see him struggle to juggle crime fighting, his new job as a scientist, his commitments to helping Aunt May at the F.E.A.S.T shelter and trying to win his ex Mary Jane Watson back after a six month split. It’s a brilliant story featuring many classic villains such as Shocker and Electro as well as lesser known villains like Screwball and the criminally underrated Mister Negative who finally gets to be the central antagonist in a Spider-Man adaptation. It’s fun to play, engaging, dramatic and really emotional at points. I cried real tears at the end. What a punch to the gut that was.
OOOOOH! And we might be getting to play as Miles Morales in the sequel! I sure hope so! :D
Tumblr media
The Grinch
At this point I imagine many of you are scratching your heads.
“Really Quill? The Grinch? Illumination’s The Grinch? This deserves the Quill Seal Of Approval? Are you sure?” Yes dear reader, I’m absolutely sure. Just hear me out.
It’s true that the majority of Dr Seuss adaptations are shit. While the live action version of the Grinch starring Jim Carrey has a cult following and is fondly remembered by some, it’s still pretty crap, and even Illumination themselves screwed up royally with their adaptation of The Lorax. But this new Grinch is truly excellent. For starters, the animation is gorgeous. This is clearly the format that works best for Seuss movies. Benedict Cumberbatch does a really good job voicing the character, giving him depth and complexity beyond just being a big old meanie. The film also has something no other Seuss film has ever had before. Subtlety. Illumination have clearly learned their lesson after The Lorax. They’re no longer bashing you over the head with a moral message. They’re not trying to over-complicate a simple story by adding pointless sub-plot after pointless sub-plot. In fact the bits they do add actually feed into the main core of the narrative, as opposed to The Lorax, which just confused things. And while there are cute Minion-esque sidekicks like there are in a lot of Illumination films, The Grinch limits it to two (Max the dog and a reindeer named Fred), they’re both legitimately funny, serve an important narrative purpose and don’t distract from the more serious and emotional moments.
In all honesty, I was debating between giving the Quill Seal of Approval to The Grinch or to Bumblebee (the first legitimately good Transformers movie), but I decided to go with The Grinch because of how it handles the character and the story’s message. A lot of people scoffed at the idea of giving the Grinch a back story (and to the film’s credit they don’t force the issue or over-explain where the Grinch came from) but it’s honestly what makes this new adaptation of The Grinch so special to me. He’s gone from being a Scrooge-like monster to an anxiety filled misanthrope who associates Christmas with being alone. It may sound like a jarring change on paper, but in practice it honestly works so well and adds a whole new dimension to the Grinch. It’s treated with absolute care and sincerity and the film really earns its emotional moments, particularly at the end when we see the Grinch sit down to have Christmas dinner with the Whos.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend you give this new Grinch a chance. You might be pleasantly surprised :)
Tumblr media
Doctor Who - Series 11
A woman?! In the TARDIS?! How absurd!
Jodie Whittaker made history as the first woman to play the Doctor and the new series doesn’t disappoint. Whittaker is predictably brilliant in the role, giving the character compassion, charm and wit. We also get a new bunch of companions (including the always brilliant Bradley Walsh as Graham) who all have some great moments in Series 11 and the relationships they form with each other is incredibly touching and fun to watch. But the writing, my God, the writing. Admittedly not every episode has been perfect, but it’s leagues above anything Moffat has given us during his disastrous reign. The majority of Series 11 has been well written and intelligent, tackling important and relevant social issues (something Doctor Who has always been doing and anyone who says otherwise is an idiot) and focusing on likeable and relatable characters rather than convoluted series arcs. We got to meet Rosa Parks, witness the partition of India, and ponder on the dangers of automation whilst the Doctor tries to save the world from bubble wrap. Oh, and the Daleks are scary again! I know! I couldn’t believe it either!
What makes this all the more remarkable is who the showrunner is. Chris Chibnall. A writer I’ve often criticised in the past for being derivative and shit, and yet somehow he’s managed to create some of the best Doctor Who I’ve seen in a long time. Not only has his writing improved dramatically since his Torchwood days, he’s also demonstrated a commitment to having diverse representation both in front of and behind the camera as well as in the scripts themselves. For the first time in what feels like an age, Doctor Who feels like Doctor Who again, and I’m ecstatically happy.
Tumblr media
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse
How come we don’t see many animated superhero movies in the cinema? Considering the medium from which superheroes came from, you’d think it would be a no-brainer. Presumably it’s because Disney have got such a strangle hold on the animation market, but that’s hopefully going to change thanks to Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (or, Sony’s Repentance for The Emoji Movie).
Let’s get the obvious out of the way. The animation is gorgeous. It’s pretty much an animated comic book and it stands out as one of the most unique looking animated films in recent memory. Spider-Verse is essentially a love letter to the legacy of Spider-Man as we see multiple different versions of Spidey, including Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham and Nicholas Cage as Ghost Rider cosplaying as Spider-Man Noir, demonstrating not only the sheer variety of Spider-Men we’ve had over the years, but also exploring what connects them together. With all these different interpretations across many different universes, the idea of Spider-Man comes to the same thing. An ordinary person who experiences tragedy and becomes something greater. It’s hopeful and inspirational in a way Spider-Man films hasn’t been for a while now (Spider-Man: Homecoming sucked donkey balls. Period).
But let’s not forget that while the film explores the Spider-Verse, the main focus is Miles Morales who finally makes his cinematic debut. Not only is it a very faithful adaptation of Ultimate Spider-Man’s origin story, Miles himself is such a great central character for the modern age and arguably has more relevance to today than Peter Parker does. The characters are funny and relatable and the story is expertly crafted and impactful. But then what do you expect from the writers and directors of The Lego Movie? (if only Disney hadn’t interfered with Solo: A Star Wars Story. We could have had it all).
Tumblr media
Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle
This one kind of snuck up on me toward the end of December, but I knew the moment I saw it I had to include it on this list.
Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle is an adaptation of The Jungle Book with Andy Serkis making his directorial debut. Yes the same guy who did the motion capture for Gollum in Lord Of The Rings and Caesar in the rebooted Planet Of The Apes movies and who totes deserves an Oscar for Best Actor (fuck you Academy Awards!), and he brings this same motion capture technology to this film. Unlike Disney’s Jungle Book, which merely rehashes the original animated film whilst somehow stripping all the charm from it, Mowgli sticks closer to the original Rudyard Kipling book. This isn’t a cheery musical. This film is often dark and intense as we see Mowgli (played wonderfully by Rohan Chand) struggle to find his place in the world. He knows he doesn’t belong with the animals in the jungle, but he doesn’t really fit in with the world of man neither. It’s an emotional and dramatic character piece brought to life by great writing, great acting and stunning special effects.
Andy Serkis has expressed a desire to do an adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and after watching this movie, I would love to see that. If you haven’t already, go watch Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle. It’s available to stream on Netflix and it’s truly amazing.
Tumblr media
And that’s it for 2018. Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Quill Seal Of Approval Awards. Unfortunately we’re on a limited budget here on The Desolated Quill, so I can’t offer any sort of trophy or medal or anything. What I can do though is write the words ‘I’m an awesome cookie’ on a post-it note and stick it on your forehead. Will that do?

Notes - 3
I’ve been inconsistent with my notes titles.
Don’t worry, I fixed it.
Just had a brainstorm. The reason I haven’t tagged this NSFW is because this is an aspect of nature. And I’m not making a joke out of it, or making it an explicit thing, I’m discussing it the same way one would if they were talking about flowers, or animals.
I mean I personally don’t think the discussion of genitals and sex should be censored. It should be treated like a biologic discussion, because it is a part of biology, and a natural cycle of life. And even as a kid, you’d see animals, and bugs, and even plants reproducing. Nature is this way. So don’t lynch me for talking about it?
Instead I invite you to think and share about your ideas on this as well.
Now since the day I learned about aliens, and watched alien movies, I’ve of course also read fan-fictions and seen fanart. And listen, I’m not going to lie, but those works were definitely nsfw. I looked at fantasy and made-up creatures as well, and was a bit disappointed at the variety. Now problem is, even when I think about it now, most sexual intercourse requires a sword and a hilt. In rare cases there are spores, but that’s about the extent of my knowledge. My point is that there’s no real diversity when it comes to genitalia. I have only looked at the flea, when it comes to insect genitals, but otherwise, it seems sex organs are relatively... boring. It just involves an inserting apparatus and a hole.
It feels so weird to call the reproductive organs boring, is it just me?
Sex, or the act of sex, is quite different. Now when I say sex, I mean interaction between two (or more!) sexes in order to produce offspring. So I’m ruling out self-replicators because, well. That’s not really sex? I mean you just split in half. And most of the time large complex organisms can’t preform such a feat! In fact, I can’t think of a single intellectual specie to do it.
I suppose one could argue that earthworms are... intellectual. But to which I will look deep into your eyes, stare for a good solid minute, and say, ‘are they really tho?’
Now of course if there’s a specie that does do this and is a bit closer to the snake than the earthworm, please let me know. I like learning, but not researching (only slightly joking).
Now I generally dislike the penis gifted female, because I’ve only seen it in pornography, and feel... Just not good. For some reason it feels like they’re being demeaned, but perhaps I’m the real villain for saying that I don’t like looking at such materials. There’s a whole issue in there I’d love to expand on, but let’s steer back to sex.
Now the reason I brought up the girl-boy, is because I’m thinking about how fertile or virile the associated parts would be. And if I were to make-up a specie where this is one gender, the other being essentially sex-less, would it be possible for ‘same’ sex partners to reproduce? And I suppose both yes and no answers would make sense.
However I want to make it so that the other sex is important as well. I mean if one can reproduce without the other then there’s probably going to be a massive imbalance.
Actually, let me think this through...
The way I see it is this, sex is a pleasurable experience, and if the specie is as intelligent as the human, it would rather enjoy lustful activities without the risk of pregnancy. This means that if same sex partners have intercourse, and it feels good, AND their organs don’t flower, then homosexuality would be extremely common with almost no complaints. Now what this means for the opposite sex is well... actually I don’t know... They’d most likely be homeless or left alone, I mean they’d be treated like an entirely different species.
However. IF same sex reproduction is possible... then I suppose they’d at least be more included... Or more like there’s no real reason to exclude them.
Hmm..
While I was typing it out, I was thinking a lot more about the species, and I think it should be a poly-amorous thing. With the homosexual intercourse being pleasure-less and sterile, but the poly sex (which includes two, or more, from the same sex and one, or more, form the opposite) being fertile and extremely pleasurable. Having a litter is more common, and the girl-boy gender is more common than the gender-less counterpart.
I made a character long time ago, she was supposed to be a popular singer with an entourage of backup singers, who also doubled as her servants and of course rumored to also be her lovers. She can be the gender-less (I shall dub it g- to make it easier), and her servants can be the g+ (you’re a smart child, figure it out).
oh wow, I can already imagine the society that emerges from this arrangement.
The g+ will be treated like rats and stereotyped to be sex-crazed animals, controlled by their urges, while the g- are the high class, society approved cool cats. Their apparel will be mostly decorative, but sparse. They probably value jewels more, including piercings and perhaps body art as well. Not tatoos, but something similar to henna, but more temporary, and more comfortable than paint.
In fact, lets do this, the g+ have very durable bodies, and the g- will be armed to the nines. Teeth claws and heightened senses.
Abuse towards g+ is common and forgettable, the reverse is a crime punishable by only death. The earliest societies operated like a lion’s pride, with the g- leading a group of (often pregnant) g+.
The g- have actually been evolved down because of years of laziness and lack of threats and more comforts. Unlike the human species, they have been around much longer on their own planet. They did evolve intellectually, but have done so at an odd pace.
The g+ used to be the original inventors and creators, spending so much time trying to stay alive through litter-birth. But as the years went on the g- have been improving on these basic structures and ideas. Like using bricks to build a castle.
As years went on the g- began to warm up to the idea of merging prides, and having more than one g- as the ‘highness’. As opposed to before, when g- fought to the death to claim another highness’s entire pride.
I should clear up a small detail, while the (I’ll call it this for simplicity) g species were mainly herbivores, g- hunted solo for bigger game to feed themselves and almost never needed sleep. There are instances of cannibalism, but it’s treated like a rude gesture than a full on crime. G+ are known to be especially delicious when it’s simulated to it’s limit at the time of it’s death.
the g- have a specific gland that helps ‘activate’ the g+ genitalia, including heightening it’s sensory touch and gives the g+ a sense of high.
It is during the human equivalent of the middle ages, the g species changed the way their society worked. The ruling class and the working class was separated. And the g- were taken from all the litters. During this time the population of the g species took a huge hit, because of the separation of the g- and g+, but no one cared because their numbers were quite large.
Perhaps a century of this falling and separation before one ‘pride’ or more accurately a kingdom, took up traveling, and spread history and knowledge, attempting to seal the gap between g- and g+. But the highness was killed along with their strongest g- supporters.
This led to a new dark age, where killing and cannibalism (g- be >:c   ---> the g+) was done freely for a little under a year, before peace was finally achieved when the g+ gave up on their rights, and settled with procreating instead. It was from here that the stereotype emerged, and the population went up again. The g species slowly recovered and got a boost in innovation. How complex their technology is compared to our own... is well... a little above (not by much). But the population is booming like crazy.
Crime is prevalent, mostly between g+, while g- are quickly pushed up social ladders whenever they’re noticed.
Gangs and syndicates run everything.
Tumblr media
Actually plan on making her chubbier. Maybe redesigning the breasts... it’s easier if things are airborne. Now whether it comes out of the breasts or out of her skin, like sweat... hm... the real question is if g+ gives birth, why would a g- need breasts? In other renditions that I made of her, Velei (We-lie) has no breasts, and is in fact flat chested. But I like the chest, so perhaps instead of breasts she just has a large swell in the chest, and a bit of a stomach sticking out. Along with thunder thighs and small amounts of flab on her arms.
She’ll still be attractive looking I bet. She’s got wings and a fluffy fat tail after all.
She is made fun of because she cannot fly, and compared to her race, she is quite heavy. Really heavy.

5000 Question Survey Pt. 27
2501. What image, scent, memory, etc. would you take with you into the dark/light, the land of dead, heaven, infinity…..?
everything?
2502. Who is the most annoying musical artist EVER?
most rapper, in my opinion.  or scream-o artists
2503. If you HAD to go to one of the following concerts, which would it be:
Snow
Vanilla Ice
NKOTB
Milli Vanilli
BSB <—– this one
NSYNC
2504. Do you believe in manifest destiny?
yeah
2505. Have you ever fallen for an email forwarding hoax (send this to 13 people and old navy will send you a $200.00(100 pound) gift card)? Do you ever think ‘well, maybe…’ and actually forward those damn things?
never. i
2506. Let’s say there are 2 schools. one for boys and one for girls. They are both supposed to offer the same facilities so that the girls and boys get equal education. Would you take this to mean that the same courses should be offered to both girls and boys or that the same amount of money should be spent on each school?
the same courses are being offered but i feel like in turn that means that the same amount of money should be spent on both schools
Imagine that in the boys school fifteen boys sign up for calculus. In the girls school only five girls sign up for calculus. Should the girls calculus class be dissolved and replaced with an easier one?
no. they should just do the class with 5 girls in it.  a class does not need a whole bunch of people in order for it to run properly
2507. Would it bother you if you found out that the fruits, vegetables, and meat that you eat is genetically altered (in lots of cases it is!)?
i mean, it already is so i don’t really have much of a choice lol

2520. wHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO UNTIL YOU DIE?
live
2521. What 'issue’ do you think your opinion is so right about that you end up trying to sway others to your point of view?
i mean i don’t want to sway people to believe my opinion is the right one because no ones opinion is right that’s why it’s considered an opinion.  however, i am very adamant about declawing cats.  i would never declaw my cats because i have seen one up close and actually experienced and done intensive research and know the bad things that can come along with it.
2522. What age do you hope to live until?
at least 100

You’re a new and better man, he helps you to understand, He does everything he can, he’s….

Top Gun shut down your Firm like Tom Cruise….
Don’t you take it so hard now, And please don’t take it so bad….
i don’t know any of these
2538. How about these?
From around the way, born in '73, Harcore B-boy named…
And this feeling shivers down your spine, Love comes in colors I can’t deny….

Jest A Minute (19/1/2018) from Subroto Mukherjee
Go Fly A Kite------------------------ When Israeli neta-ji Netanyahu-ji announced that he was off to India, the Israeli people were of course excited and enthused, "Yaaaaaa, way to go! Have a great trip!" On the other hand, the Palestinians were snide and sarcastic, saying "Who cares? Go fly a kite!" And for once -- yes, FOR ONCE, the Israeli PM actually listened to the Palestinians. He came to India and flew a kite! *** Our Daily Feast and Fest---------------------------------- Sunday was Makar Sankranti -- our breezy, colorful Kite Festival. Of course, there are many among us who celebrate this everyday. Either they pig out, hog, feast like there's no tomorrow and get up enough wind to fly a kite! Or they booze till they are as high as kites!   *** Under A Cloud--------------------- Right now Pawan Hans helicopters are under a cloud. With good reason. The statistics are damning. After all, how much worse can it get? In 7 years, as many as 36 persons flying these choppers have lost their lives. But let's be fair. There are both upside and downside to these flying machines.   The downside is that they literally FALL DOWN on the job and LET DOWN the crew and passengers. The upside is that these helicopters are very law-abiding. Well, they certainly obey one law. The law of gravity! *** 'Block Busters'------------------------ OK, finally Padmavati will be releasing but as Padmavat. But even this sex change operation (from a female to a male title) by the censors has not satisfied the protesters. The censors have liberally chopped the film but the protesters are still threatening to storm theaters and chop heads.   So will you be going to see the film? Not me. I don't care for 'block busters'. I mean, block-heads out to bust theaters and block films. No, I won't risk going for Padmavotty -- only to end up hiding in the potty! *** Schoolboy Smut------------------------ I love it when I read such news. Turns out, when he was a school boy, French President Emmanuel Macron wrote a smutty, naughty, erotic, very adult novel. Let me take a wild guess here. The teenage Macron was motivated by two great thinkers : one from ancient Greece, the other from ancient India. Socrates from ancient Greece taught him HOW TO THINK. And Vatsayana from India influenced him in WHAT TO THINK ABOUT! *** Gems Blunt------------------ A world leader recently referred to African nations as 'shit-hole' countries! Hey, with such GEMS dropping from his lips, I think this great leader is asking for it -- simply asking for a kick in his JEWELS from Africans! *** Rude and Crude------------------------- The other day President Trump underwent his annual medical check-up and the doctors declared that he is in excellent health. Except for two minor issues : constipation and diarrhea.  A constipation of good sense and a diarrhea of insults aimed at others. *** Urban Jungle--------------------- Crocodiles are now being spotted swimming in the gutters of suburban Mumbai. And leopards are not just roaming our suburbia but even invading homes! But I say those creatures are not to blame. We are to blame for this. Hey, what else do you expect if we keep calling our beloved city an URBAN JUNGLE? Naturally, animals will come here curiously to check out this jungle. *** Discovering the Truth------------------------------- According to an erudite minister, It was NOT Newton who first discovered gravity. It was our ancient scholar Bramhabhatt the Second who actually made this discovery a thousand years ago.   My theory is this. True, Pandit Bramhabhatt was first to realize the law of gravity. But later he was reborn as Newton to re-discover his own original discovery.   Hey, if you accept the belief of reincarnation, you can easily explain away anything and everything. See, isn't that neat? *** Temple Politics----------------------- Rahul-ji has been in the news for temple hopping. Of late, no counting how many temples he has visited. OK, let's face it. In our country, any politico with brains knows this short-cut to mass appeal, this quickie to winning over a large community and vote-bank.   And Rahul-ji does not have to be a brain surgeon to realizes the importance of TEMPLES, thanks to the grey matter between his own TEMPLES. *** Going Apes------------------ It has been observed that orangutans self-medicate themselves when they suffer aches, pains and ills. Amazing, you know, that they know which herbs, shrubs, roots or shoots to chew for whatever is ailing them. Hey, given the spike in medicine prices these days -- especially life-saving drugs -- why don't we too pick our remedies straight from Nature? YEAH, WHY NOT APE THE APES? ***
