i may or may not have just killed my plant. my zanzibar aloe has been turning brown over the last two weeks and i read it was mainly because over watering but could also be not enough water… and i thought maybe it was the over watering so i didnt water it for an extra week and a half… and it got even MORE brown so rn i just watered it hella and idk what’s gonna happen im hoping it’s ok

Day 2!

So I wanted to go through my different plants which types they are and how I take care of them.

My 1st plant is a Hedera Ivy. I got this plant recently and I absolutely love the length of the vines and how this plant grows. For the week I've had it there has been new growth on the sun facing vines and I love how happy this plant is to have a days worth of sun!

The 2nd plant is a Siam Red Aurora in the Atlaonema species. I got this plant the same time I got my Ivy and this plant is browning on one of the leaves. I'm am monitoring the amount of water this plant gets and I'm keeping the soil a tad moist and doing my best to not over water it.

My 3rd plant is a hardy aloe vera plant. I had picked this one up recently and when I was going through the aloes I found that some of the other plants had gotten root rot so I had made sure to let someone know. I hope that this little guy does not have any and I'll keep monitoring him over the week.

Next is a strange plant. I dont know what this plant is but I grew it from one of those windowsill plant buckets you can get at the store. I've had it for about 3 months now and it's doing pretty well. I cut and of its wilted leaves and I had to prop up the leaves so it doesnt fall over and break its own stems.

Next is a succulent that I have had for about 2 years. This plant started as a small shrub like succulent and has continued to grow taller. It has some small side growths that I was looking to propagate and get some new little cuttings of this succulent.

Next, I have a new addition to my room a Sanseviera plant! I have not taken care of this type of plant before but I am putting him in low light to see how he handles. I'll keep monitoring him for any changes in coloration and change.

Moving on to my absolute favorite plant the Snake plant! This is one of my favorite house plants. They are so forgiving and are content with living in any light condition. I actually have one of these plants in my living room. I recently got this one and he is very happy in my corner.

Lastly is my Zanzibar Gem or the zamioculcas zamiifolia. This plant is beautiful and I love the rich green colored leaves. This plant is a low light plant and needs little maintenance. I can't wait for this plant to get new growth and new foliage.

Well I'll make another update tomorrow and do a check on leaf growth and other updates on my house plants. I hope to see you tomorrow!!!

We've got an Aloe Vera that my sister named Alice,

one that was labelled sedeveria hybrid named Eros,

One labelled lantpranthus named Morel

One labelled Graptosedum hybrid named Helio,

A Zanzibar Aloe named Spade

And one just labelled Sedum that I named Salem

I think thats all, they didnt look in too great condition when i got them so im hoping they'll get better (specifically Helio)

indigo - who says ‘i love you’ first? how does it happen?

Akira’s the one to say it first. He knows my hesitation behind using the phrase - being pressured to use it when I don’t want to, and being punished if not - so he understands if I still need time to come around towards using it. Besides, he’s been told from the others that I do indeed say I love him - it’s just different saying it face-to-face - so he knows of my reciprocation.

He ends up saying it for the first time out of nowhere. I’m leaned up against his chest, messing around on my phone because there’s nothing interesting on TV. Akira’s mindlessly toying with my hair, looking down at me.

He figured he should just say it, so he doesn’t end up scaring me later if he subconsciously blurts it out.

“Hey, Matt?”

“Hm?”

“…I love you.”

Akira feels me tense up against his body. Before I can say anything, he adds, “You don’t have to say it back, I just figured I should-”

“I love you too.”

He falls silent, a bit shocked, as I sit up to look at him. “As…” I pause. “As much as using that phrase scares me, I…I do know that I love you, Akira. I don’t need to second-guess myself to tell you that.”

Akira simply stares for a moment, before smiling and giving me a kiss. “It makes me…so happy to know that.”

After we get our own place, we both have a couple plants here and there throughout the apartment. I have a Pothos and a couple succulents, while Akira has an Aloe, a Zanzibar Gem plant, and a Chinese Money plant.

so a few days ago i posted about my ever growing collection of rescue & propagated plants and how i somehow have gone from being Wiltenator Brownthumb, Destroyer of Plants, to some kind of Actual Person who can keep plants alive (miracles do happen) & i wondered if anybody would be interested in (a) seeing my plant babies and/or (b) seeing the giant green expanse of grass that is my very empty yard that i’m trying to figure out what to do with, and enough people (basically, more than one) said yes that HERE I AM to bombard you with plant pics like an obnoxious mother thrusting her newborn in your face (p1), and to also wave pictures of my empty garden at you for help in figuring out what to fill it with like a writer staring at a white page cursor & hoping it will gain sentience and work itself (p2)

but enough about that, time for PLANT BABIES

my front flower bed was overrun with weeds and junk when i moved in, but i cleared it out planted lavender, blue bibi, muraya, and white star jasmine, and they’ve started to really come into their own. i’ve also got some agapanthus (lily of the nile) that my nan sent in the corner, and some snapdragons up the back - not to mention a sneaky deadly nightshade hiding in there

the front porch is where most of my new babies are, all of which were thrifted, gifted, or propagated from public areas (left side & right side of the door pictured)

the hanging three tier planter on the right has an unknown plant in the top (came partnered with my bamboo, but no card to identify it - still working on it), as well as zanzibar gem and laceleaf

on the left side lives Seymour (the philodendron) and some propagated dogbane on the lower shelf

middle shelves feature rosemary, garlic chives, petunias, dumb cane and cat grass, all of which are in recovery at the moment and freshly repotted. and on the top shelf, some pancake plant - both a big one and a pup (in the middle), and my lucky bamboo

to the right again, below the hanging planters, lives my jade plant, the beginning of a frangipani tree, and my chilli plant, along with a bird of paradise over by the door

into the living room there’s my beautiful, neglected, happy as a pig in shit cast iron plant to the right of the TV, and my viper’s bowstring to the left of it. (yes that box says ‘wormies’ - it’s full of dried mealworms that i give to my magpies when they come to visit)

in the hallway lives my aloe vera pup and my bird’s nest fern, and the window nearby has my spider plant hanging from the curtain rod. he was so yellow and droopy when i got him, but after a few weeks being watered with cooled leftover veggie and pasta water he’s green and virile af

and finally, in the window over the kitchen sink, my three little dollar shop planters with succulents; stonecrop, radiator plant, and more viper’s bowstring

and that’s it for plant babies! at least, for now 

part 2, aka oh god i have 720 square meters of GRASS and i have no idea what to do with it, coming soon, with a free side of my pathetic begging for ideas from people who know more than i do. so like. everybody.
