In our featureinterviews in this issue we talk to cover Housemaster EDDIE AMADOR. Eddie Amador’s career in music started in 1993 but like a lot of DJ/ producers he didn’t get his big break straight away, he worked hard at his craft and it wasn’t until 1998 that that the spotlight shone on him when we penned the global hit ‘House Music’ featuring the line  “not everyone understands house music, it’s a spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing”. After that things started to really fly and remix work started coming in from the likes of Madonna, Michael Buble and Seal to name but a few. He also started remixing for labels like Warner Bros. Records and Reprise. This led to one of his remixes from Madonna’s ‘Hard Candy’ album called ‘Give It To Me’ reaching number one in the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart and Eddie’s career started to really fly.
It was my first production.  I wrote it from a place of frustration.  At that time (1998) House Music was not that “big” in Los Angeles, due to the promoters pushing the sound of Trance and/or Hip Hop
We also talk to Dance music Icon DAVE SAEMAN about Selador Recordings. Selador Recordings reach their legendary 100th release, at the same time as turning six years old. Label owners Dave Seaman and Steve Parry certainly know their stuff with the high quality release schedule.  This comes as no surprise as the two live and breathe progressive music, and have ceremoniously championed the sound from Liverpool globally.  Dave is still filling clubs and festivals with his unmistakable sound, but Steve is also rising through the ranks with a selection of awesome productions and DJ sets.
Obviously our 100th release is our main focus right now. We wanted to commemorate the milestone with something special and we think we’ve achieved that with 6 remixes of some of the biggest tracks from last year’s 5th Birthday collaborations project that had not been previously remixed
We speak to the French rising name of CHRIS GEKA. CHRIS GEKÄ is an agitator and activist of the French and international electronic scene, with a constantly updated news. He signed his tracks, in Iberian and percussive colors, on the most famous American imprints, from Detroit to Kevin Saunderson (KMS Records), in New York on Nervous Records, in the wake he signed in Chicago on the label of the master from house music, Marshall Jefferson (Freakin909 Records), then to Miami on the label of Robbie Rivera (Juicy Music). Many of his tracks are propelled to the top of charts and onto many compilations (Pacha Ibiza, Amnesia Ibiza, Space Ibiza, WMC Miami, ADE Amsterdam).Spotted by Roger Sanchez who invites him to mix in his radio show “Release Yourself,” he receives the support of the cream of international DJs such as Erick Morillo, Stefano Noferini, Wally Lopez, Julian Jeweil, Hollen, The Yellowheads, Enrico Sangiuliano.
I have just returned from the International Music Summit, it was very exciting once again this year. Arriving at the Hard Rock Hotel I discovered german producer Jan Blomqvist, he was playing live for Ibiza Sonica Radio, and this guy is a genius
From Gibraltar we speak to DJ WAYNE. DJ/Producer, specialising in the Progressive sounds of House & Techno, WAYNE has always studied music in depth and kept up to date with the music industry. At the tender age of 16 grabbed a resident DJ slot at ‘The Factory of Sound’ back in the late 90’s. During his 4 year tenure at Gibraltar’s No.1 nightclub, he was given the platform to experiment with many styles and genres, allowing him to work his craft. Keeping his sets one style minded wasn’t his thing. A former resident at Beachgrooves Deep House Radio, Marbella (SPA), and now at online underground station A Darker Wave (UK), WAYNE has established his own style by not setting himself any boundaries, now specializing in the pure Progressive underground sounds of House & Techno with his ‘Systematic’ sessions. His tendency and habit is the element of surprise!
For such a small population Gibraltar seems to be producing a lot of local talent. Having a DJ studio I have been fortunate enough to have many play here and I have been surprisingly overwhelmed by how many different styles of electronic music has been covered
From the UK we talk to CRIMSON SUN AUDIO. Mix/Mastering? Love it? Hate? We’re talking to Audio Mix Engineer Loz Grover & owner of Crimson Sun Audio. Loz has quite a CV, working with some well known music artists!
In this issue we have two label feachers from DRUM Records and MOTEK Music. And we check out whats happening in clubland: Thorsten Benders checks out NIBIRII FESTIVAL in Germany. And Thomas Buckley tells us all about his recent SHOCKABUKU TOUR of South America. Chris Geka gives us the lowdown on the start of the IBIZA season.
Adding to all this we have of course BEST SETS ON THE NET with Hugo MaCann. As if all that was not enough of course we have our regular reviews and charts from the talented and dynamic Zone crew. Also this issue we continue Zone Magazine’s FREE exclusive DJ Mix series and we also have our FREE gifts from Funktion Loops, 2 sample packs each issue, all you need to do is purchase our cool publication!
