Two of my favorite guitarists: Joe Pass and Jim Hall!

Zoot Sims & Joe Pass - Blues For Two
This record is so dang cool. You can imagine the suits, cigs, and smell of booze. Both Zoots and Joe are so smooth throughout. Pretty much straight bop with a few slower numbers, this one rocks.

Jim Hall - Commitment
This one is not as focused but is still outstanding! There are duets with Art Farmer, duets with different pianists, some tracks have Jim overdubbing extra acoustic and electric guitar parts, Ron Carter on bass. Wow! On first examination this may sound like elevator music to some. Listen a bit deeper and you'll find the magic.

AllMusic Staff Pick: Annie Ross / Zoot Sims A Gasser!
Best known for her work as one third of the vocalese trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, Annie Ross was a star on her own. This was especially true on the west coast where she recorded this swinging 1959 date for Pacific Jazz. Backed by Chet Baker's pianist Russ Freeman, as well other California-based luminaries like saxophonist Bill Perkins and guitarist Jim Hall, Ross displays all the urbane warmth and laidback swagger that would become her trademark. As a quirky bonus, some versions of the LP include a session with saxophonist Zoot Sims, also featuring Freeman.

October Goes (10/29/22)
This weekend lies right on the line that divides post-summer from pre-winter. Johnny Mercer knew that as he wrote what became the lyrics to the song “When October Goes.” After Johnny died, his widow Ginger discovered the poem and gave it to Barry Manilow to set to music. It describes perfectly this time of year, which John & Jessica are spending by the lake, in the Deluxe Cabin.

Just check the lineup🤩
4 tenor aces engaged in incredible conversation and thankfully there is enough room for the stellar rhythm section to shine, too.
