The first pic doesn't capture the shininess of the paint. This was my first time binding a fanfic or anything really and I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned a lot. The fic is a hicsqueak fic by @troiings and I've read it many times, it's sooooo good and in so glad they were cool with me binding it. Sorry it took so long, I took many breaks lol. a new hicsqueak fic for you all on my birthday!!!

With her confinement just lifted, Hecate Hardbroom has been invited to the Magic Council's Summer Gala to celebrate her services to the school. After a traumatic reunion with someone best left in the past, she finds that her faithful familiar Morgana has undergone a transformation. Can Morgana in her new form and Hecate's old flame, Pippa Pentangle, help her to recover?

On that note, I actually wrote this year! And I am very proud about that. :) And thank you for including me in the fun! ;) I don't think I will ever write as much as any of you do @lilolilyr and @purlturtle but it's okay. Please bless me though so I will finish at least one wip in 2024 😁

My AO3 wrapped is more like a reading version. A few weeks ago I counted the stuff I read and now I updated with the rest. So. Lo and behold, in 2023, I've read ~2 200 000 words.

I honestly didn't believe it at first. I seriously thought I don't read that much anymore so it was nice to see I did.

What, you ask? Well. I think around half of this was Cissamione. No idea how that happened. (Okay, vague idea how that happened.) Another quite big part was Bellamione which kinda came with the former. The rest is Hicsqueak :) This was a witchy year :D

Halloween was always Pippa’s favourite time of year. It meant dressing up, silly games, lavish parties ...and sweets. Lots and lots of sweets.

When she was six, she remembered how her parents had thrown a large Halloween bash. With all the high standing witching families in attendance.

Pippa had stolen away, not bothered with the adults and their boring conversations, and more concerned with the brightly decorated cakes, the sugar snap biscuits – they really did snap if you weren’t too careful, Pippa’s thumb ached for days after – and chocolate truffles of every flavour you could think of.

Her fairy wings fluttered behind her – as they were enchanted to do – as she plopped herself down in a quiet corner, arms overflowing with sweet treats. Under the lights, glitter dust sparkled in her hair. Though her rather magical ensemble was spoiled by the icing smeared across her cheek.

She remembers a shadow casting over her sweet feast. The shadow of a girl her age wearing nothing but black. Her face pale, eyes dark and curious.

“Do you want one?” Pippa remembers asking. Handing the girl a cake with sticky, sugar coated fingers. One with pink icing swirled on the top– not at all festive, but Pippa’s favourite nonetheless.

The girl swallowed, tentatively reaching out, her fingers brushing the paper case.

“Joy!”

The girls arms had fallen away immediately, her whole body tensing at the sharp tone, her fingers curling into her palms, bottom lip near to trembling.

Pippa had been confused by that, if a little fearful.

The girl had gone as quickly and quietly as she’d come, her dark hair whipping around behind her.

The cakes hadn’t tasted so sweet after that.

“I remember that party,” Hecate would tell her years later. “It never was the cakes I was interested in.”

How many works do you have on AO3?

I currently have 60 finished works. 51 for Harry Potter, 8 for the Witcher, and 1 for The Worst Witch. Nothing ongoing at the moment

2. What's you total AO3 count? 937,491 words. I will probably have to throw a party if I hit one million XD

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Yennaia (Witcher) was my introduction into fanfic writing. Later I switched to Cissamione (HP) (with the occasional Bellamione, Andromione, or even Pansmione). Hicsqueak (Worst Witch) is my guilty pleasure ship that I always swore I wouldn't write for... Oh well

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

All HP ones! 1 = 90 Days to Wed. 2 = My Brightest Star. 3 = Once Upon a Dream. 4 = Trapped in a Madhouse. 5 = Blissful Ignorance

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do. Writing fanfic and the response I got from it, got me through quarantine during Covid, so I find it important to validate those comments. Let people know I've read them. Sometimes the responses might take a while though XD

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I'm not an angst-writer. Life is hard enough as it is, so I prefer to always give my fics a happy ending! There's not even that much angst throughout the story itself (I try, I just... it's not my strength). I do have an idea for a fic with a very dubious open ending though! Just gotta find time to write it, but for now, I have no answer to this question.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Probably all of them XD although I think My Brightest Star got the most fluffy "and they lived happily ever after" chapters so let's go with that one!

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Luckily I don't. I don't think I would cope well, haha

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I do. Always consensual vanilla although I did write one very tame BDSM fic and there was some attempted sexual violence in another one. Usually I go for fluffy smut, whether it's explicitly written or with a fade to black

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

I do not. I'm personally not a fan of crossovers.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I found a few that had been translated on a Russian fanfic website (the name eludes me). But actually stolen? No, I don't think so

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

I do not allow translations. I have therefore also asked for the Russian ones to be taken down. I put a lot of work in my fics, so I like to keep them on my profile only

13. have you ever cowritten a fic before?

I have! I wrote with Bet_On_Black and BelladonnaInBloom. Both collabs were wonderful! I have also joined in a few group-writing sessions which were fun

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

Considering the amount of fics I've written for them, it has to be Cissamione

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

There's a secret librarian-fic I have in the makings, but it's the story that always gets pushed aside if I have another idea XD

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'd like to think I'm decent at worldbuilding and weaving in bits of canon in an AU

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I suck at editing so plotholes are unfortunately not a rarity in my stories XD

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I find writing in my own language rather cringe XD although I sometimes include a few sentences of Dutch just for fun. But I'll stick to English 99% of the time

Yennaia from the Witcher. I fell rather hard for Tissaia De Vries (Myanna Buring)

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

I am extremely proud of my collab with @belladonnainbloom which is why she's the next one I tag for this game. I'm super fond of our storyline and plot in Closing The Distance (the fact that we fell in love during this collab has *nothing* to do with this) and am looking forward to our next collab!

31,822 words?? also a massive surprise since i don't write or post nearly as often as i'd like...but hey, i'll take the win!

3. What fandoms do you write for?

okay, so obviously supercorp lives rent free in my head, but i'm also deeply entrenched in the cissamione and bellamione fandoms. i've got a fuck ton of wips for them, but i haven't put much out yet. however, recently, rojarias (reignjas) has been taking up ALL my brain space—i'm dying to write a lawyer au.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

erm. well, since i only have seven, i'll give you the top two? 1st: i'm home when i'm with you...2nd: this color looks better on you than me

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

i used to be really into and really good about responding to comments because i really appreciate every single one (and i still do) but it took a lot out of me and made me a little anxious, so i don't do it anymore. that being said, i still love and cherish every single comment that's ever been left!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

i'm really not the biggest fan of angsty endings, so i don't write them very much. i'd much prefer piling on the angst throughout and giving them a happy ending. there's too much sadness and grief in the world already, i feel like everyone should get a happy ending.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

oo, okay, i'm not sure about happiest since they feel pretty even, but if i really had to pick maybe oh how love stings?

8. Do you get hate on fics?

i don't currently, which i think is in part because of how lovely most people in the fandoms i'm in now are, but years ago i wrote a dramione fic and people had a lot (which wasn't necessarily hate, but it was still unnecessary) to say about that.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

i've tried on occasion, but let's just say i'm still working out the kinks (pun intended)

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

i don't and i don't think i will anytime in the near future because i feel like a lot of planning will have to go into that and i don't have the brain space right now. but secondly, i don't feel an immediate urge to merge any two worlds currently.

luckily, no, not that i'm aware of—hopefully it stays that way!

12. have you ever had a fic translated?

i've had someone ask in my comments before, but as mentioned above i don't really answer comments and i'm still not sure if i'm entirely comfortable with translations even if it allows a larger audience access to the fic.

13. have you ever cowritten a fic before?

i was working on one with @glitterslytherin a few years back, but we never quite got much of it finished haha

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

it's gotta be supercorp, but currently, rojarias and cissamione have me in a chokehold (i suppose i'm on my supercorp detox atm? maybe i'll be able to churn out fics after this little break)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

i think this applies to all my WIPs to be honest. obviously i want to finish them all, but motivation is a bitch and she tends to come and go as she pleases XD

16. What are your writing strengths?

i'd like to think i do a pretty good job with dialogue. i used to be better at descriptions, but i think the balance has tilted the last couple of years.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

being able to just write and not edit on the way (another reason i rarely finish things) also planning is very much not my forte💀

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

while i am bilingual and almost trilingual, i do tend to stick with english since i feel like it's jarring to have a bit of a different language suddenly pop up and then the reader has to read the translation. and two, i'm not even grammatically accurate in english all the time, so forget about another language!

19. First fandom you wrote for?

oh, this is so mortifying...i believe it was percy jackson, but following closely behind was harry potter.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

i don't think i love any of the fics i have out at the moment—like, don't get me wrong, i'm super proud of them—but there's not one finished one that parades in my head all the time. the rojarias lawyer au and a supercorp orchestra au are constantly being thought about though?

Pippa decides she has been yearning long enough. Instead of doing her usual thing of writing a letter she will never send and never knowing if her feelings will be reciprocated, she shows up to Cackle's Academy with a carefully considered bouquet of flowers and makes a proposition to a panicked Hecate—a "no" will send her away, but if she says "yes", Pippa will take her out for a date. Hecate, who has wondered for decades if Pippa's schoolgirl crush was ever founded in any real feelings, kisses her in answer. The bouquet drops from Pippa's hand as she gives in to her passion. When they pause for air, Hecate makes sure to murmur, "To clarify, yes."

The day before, Julie confesses she's been too stressed to think about what to do for Valentine's Day. To take the pressure off her, Hecate transfers them both to Rome, where they spend the day looking around art galleries and sampling gelato. Hecate then treats her to a sumptuous proper Italian meal in a candlelit restaurant. Under the starry sky they share a kiss, and in the spontaneity and romance of it all, Julie asks Hecate to marry her. Hecate says yes.

Constance wakes up to a hand-painted Valentine slipped under her door in the teacher's wing. She and Lynne have been in an undefined romance for a few weeks, but this feels like a confirmation that something more is in store for them. Constance turns up to Lynne's door with a breakfast tray, saying she would like to take things further, and offers to take them out for trip anywhere her heart desires. Lynne puts aside the tray and pulls Constance onto the bed for their first kiss as girlfriends. "You're what my heart desires, Constance."

Gwen wants to do something special for Ada this year. She surprises her with a trip to a cottage by the Welsh seaside. She's made them a picnic with all of their favourites, and a wonderfully decorated ginger carrot cake. Although it's cold, Ada insists she paddles a little in the sea and leads Gwen by the hand with her to keep them both steady. They kiss in the low surf and watch the sunset over the sea.

Arabella knows she's royally screwed up with Dimity multiple times, but she hopes Valentine's Day will soften her mood. She sends a card anonymously, telling her to meet her on the witch ball pitch. Dimity waits for her while Arabella hides invisibly, worrying she will be rejected. When she does appear, Dimity is sceptical of her promises, thinking she's heard them all before. Arabella's eyes, however, show true remorse for how she's behaved in the past. Dimity lets Arabella take her to a cute little market in a magical village, and they reconcile in a tea room, parting with a cheek kiss that Dimity feels tingling on her face for hours after.

Even after being married for a good twenty years, Hecate and Ada still make time to celebrate Valentine's Day. Ada does her usual attempt to be the mysterious lover and elaborately decorates a card for her. Hecate pretends she has no idea who the sender is while reading out Ada's own words flirtatiously. Later, Hecate takes advantage of the school holidays to commandeer the kitchen from Miss Tapioca, and cooks them both a beautiful three-course meal.
