The first pic doesn't capture the shininess of the paint. This was my first time binding a fanfic or anything really and I made a lot of mistakes, but I learned a lot. The fic is a hicsqueak fic by @troiings and I've read it many times, it's sooooo good and in so glad they were cool with me binding it. Sorry it took so long, I took many breaks lol. a new hicsqueak fic for you all on my birthday!!!

With her confinement just lifted, Hecate Hardbroom has been invited to the Magic Council's Summer Gala to celebrate her services to the school. After a traumatic reunion with someone best left in the past, she finds that her faithful familiar Morgana has undergone a transformation. Can Morgana in her new form and Hecate's old flame, Pippa Pentangle, help her to recover?

On that note, I actually wrote this year! And I am very proud about that. :) And thank you for including me in the fun! ;) I don't think I will ever write as much as any of you do @lilolilyr and @purlturtle but it's okay. Please bless me though so I will finish at least one wip in 2024 😁

My AO3 wrapped is more like a reading version. A few weeks ago I counted the stuff I read and now I updated with the rest. So. Lo and behold, in 2023, I've read ~2 200 000 words.

I honestly didn't believe it at first. I seriously thought I don't read that much anymore so it was nice to see I did.

What, you ask? Well. I think around half of this was Cissamione. No idea how that happened. (Okay, vague idea how that happened.) Another quite big part was Bellamione which kinda came with the former. The rest is Hicsqueak :) This was a witchy year :D

New old thing: I read Bering and Wells again! 🥰 Wrote one too! I hope in 2024 these two are back on the plate because I missed them and I have a ton of new stuff to read :D

Halloween was always Pippa’s favourite time of year. It meant dressing up, silly games, lavish parties ...and sweets. Lots and lots of sweets.

When she was six, she remembered how her parents had thrown a large Halloween bash. With all the high standing witching families in attendance.

Pippa had stolen away, not bothered with the adults and their boring conversations, and more concerned with the brightly decorated cakes, the sugar snap biscuits – they really did snap if you weren’t too careful, Pippa’s thumb ached for days after – and chocolate truffles of every flavour you could think of.

Her fairy wings fluttered behind her – as they were enchanted to do – as she plopped herself down in a quiet corner, arms overflowing with sweet treats. Under the lights, glitter dust sparkled in her hair. Though her rather magical ensemble was spoiled by the icing smeared across her cheek.

She remembers a shadow casting over her sweet feast. The shadow of a girl her age wearing nothing but black. Her face pale, eyes dark and curious.

“Do you want one?” Pippa remembers asking. Handing the girl a cake with sticky, sugar coated fingers. One with pink icing swirled on the top– not at all festive, but Pippa’s favourite nonetheless.

The girl swallowed, tentatively reaching out, her fingers brushing the paper case.

“Joy!”

The girls arms had fallen away immediately, her whole body tensing at the sharp tone, her fingers curling into her palms, bottom lip near to trembling.

Pippa had been confused by that, if a little fearful.

The girl had gone as quickly and quietly as she’d come, her dark hair whipping around behind her.

The cakes hadn’t tasted so sweet after that.

“I remember that party,” Hecate would tell her years later. “It never was the cakes I was interested in.”

She really shouldn't be doing this... this was the dumbest thing that could have ever done but here they were. Maud, Enid and her were actually sneaking in to Miss Hardbrooms room to get the upcoming potions test so she could study. And they were doing well not getting caught so far but when they got to hbs desk they came face to face with her familiar who was a very fluffy black cat not at all happy with being woken up. The cat hissed at them then turned and went back to sleep. Maud turned the flashlight to Miss Hardbrooms bed to see if she was still asleep but that's when they realized she wasn't alone. Sleeping cuddled up to hb was Miss Pentangle. Enid looked like she was going to screaming and Maud looked like she was going to be sick. The light or maybe it was the cat had disturbed hb and so Mildred made the call to grab her friends and get the hell outta there. Quietly closing her room door Millie finally took a breath. The next day when she caught up to her friends Enid was a little pissed that they could not get the test but they almost got caught and failing a test is not as bad as getting expelled. Then Maud pointed out that Miss Hardbroom looked different happy? or maybe just not mad at the world then Enid said she didn't even think that hb and Miss Pentangle even liked each other then Millie was spilling what had happened at the spelling bee to her friends and the fact that Miss Hardbroom and Miss Pentangle were friends at school. She was happy that her efforts at the spelling bee paid off because when Miss Pentangle was telling her about the broomstick display and when she was checking on (definitely not eavesdropping) the reunion she made happen. Millie could tell that something was off and neither teacher wanted to be just friends. She was very happy she brought them back together. Then Maud reminded her about the potions test she would probably fail if she didn't study for.

TO A MAN. hecate is furious about being invited? it's the daily update fic that i devoted my full life to for the month of october! i'm told it was exciting to read as it was updating but still remains a very "i'll just read one more chapter" fic. it really does go places

Theft of a Heart (I know this much is true) - go back to the 80s for this dive into teen hisqueak! it's kind of a prequel to a clock with no hands. if you want to see how morgana orchestrates pippa and hecate becoming friends, then this is the fic for you

Blow, Northerne Wynd - rapunzel au!!! hecate's confinement re-imagined as the rapunzel story. pippa is a gallant knight who visits her. technically this doesn't have an ending but i left it in a pretty good place!!!

there’s something about kittens - tiny little one-shot about pippa and hecate taking care of the kittens that the cackle's students will receive

To ready one's heart (hicsqueak Valentine's Day drabble sequence) - i mean, who doesn't love fake dating at a charity auction?

Going Once, Going Twice - (summary-style) non-magical au where hecate is an archaeologist bidding on an important item for her research. a rival from her past, pippa, bids against her. they have to meet up to resolve matters and. well, it's a christmas romcom.

Taking the Initiative - after a workshop from pippa, hecate gets really into dungeon mastering a D&D game for a small group of students. this was never finished but maybe it doesn't have to be?

Raspberry and White Chocolate - very short university au where hecate is a lecturer and pippa is a PhD student. one of the first fics i ever wrote!
