aita for wanting to wait before having my dog start training? I (29,f) adopted my dog when he was three months old. Since he was my very first dog and a border collie, I started to search information for dog training and courses to make in the future because I wanted to best owner I could for him. The first person I called insisted to make him start training right away. I thought it was too early because he was with me from only 2 weeks but I gave it a try since they insisted it was the perfect time and to bring him without commitment.
I did it and it went horribly. My dog was put in a fence to deal with bigger and older dogs, some a little aggressive, and the person I talked to stayed with him for like 30 seconds (her colleague was there through). Also it all happened when it was dark (they decided when I had to bring him because there must have been other dogs). On the way home, my dog trembled all the time and was so scared he didn't want to leave when the car when we got home. He was like petrified.
So a couple of days later, I sent to this person an audio message saying my dog appeared deeply traumatized when we came home and I felt like he still needed time to get used to his new home and that I wanted to delay the training for one or two months to give him time to get used to his new life (his previous owner kept him locked in a tiny room all day) and they responded saying he wasn't traumatized but spoiled, that I didn't teach him anything because I am not able to, that I had to show humilty towards people who knew dogs better than me and that they were sorry for my dog for having me as a owner and then they blocked me before I could answer.
Two months later I sent him to another dog instructor and he actually enjoys it. Now he is 8 months old and he has one lesson left. The new dog instructor says he is healthy and well belanced and that he is doing really good, but sometimes I still think of the first experience we had and I can't help to wonder if I handled things well.
So, aita?
What are these acronyms?

So for each of the gems/temples, they’re each powered by a trait of each of the girls (Intelligence, Heart, Strength) but they’re also tempered/balanced by another trait which is what the temples are truly testing for. Because they can’t have someone who just have the traits needed; they need to be balanced.
(Almost like if they want to truly reach the potential of their traits, they must be balanced.)
Intelligence and Humilty - Just because you’re smart doesn’t mean you know everything; sometimes you must acknowledge what you don’t know and take a step back.
Heart (Empathy) and Responsibility - Following your heart is great and all, but you need to face the consequences of your actions and be honest about when things go wrong (especially from your own actions though they may come from a place of caring).
Both Marcy and Anne have learned their lessons and grown as people. They are now able to reach the potential of their traits as they’ve passed the trials of the temples.
But what about Sasha? What could temper her strength?
My guess is that for it’s Strength (or more probably phrased as power) and Compassion. Or actually, maybe Consideration. Sasha is strong, and though she clearly cares for others in her circle, once she’s got a plan or her goal is in sight, it’s either her way or the highway.
We’ve seen this with Anne twice. Back before they got here, Anne didn’t want to meet with Marcy and instead wanted to go home, but Sasha used a Voice, disregarded Anne’s qualms, and convinced her (ultimately) to steal the Calamity Box. And then Sasha immediately thought Anne would go along with her plans (especially once she used That Voice), but didn’t consider how Anne had spent time remits the frogs and cared for them how they had cared for her.
In Barrel’s Warhammer, she knew Percy and Braddock were uncomfortable and scared. She’d even promised that they’d back out if things got dangerous. But so close to their goal, to their plan (and with the new knowledge that Marcy and Anne are somewhere out there doing fine without her [though really they’re working to get them all home and have no clue where to find Sasha even though they want her there]), Sasha disregarded their feelings and went forward with a risky plan. Yes, they survived, but because of her attitude, she lost them both (who were initially the only toads to stick with her and Grime).
Really makes me wonder how the third gem will be restored because at this point, I don’t think Sasha would be able to pass the Third Temple’s trial.

DWC Day 13: Pride/The Maw
Tumblr media
(Sort of) continued from here (Day 4).
Luminash had aided the Venthyr in many rituals of absolution now, seen the murky depths of souls dredged, all their vices and all their hubris drawn to the surface, excised, and banished. He had seen the repentant slump with relief as the weight of their crimes was lifted; he had seen the recalcitrant try in vain to stand tall as they were ravaged, only to cry out in the end.
He had heard their screams, echoing off the cold stone of Revendreth, and every groan of pain he felt, knowing his own ancestors had experienced the same. Few were the Avowed who themselves did not shudder to hear those cries as well, for they knew the cost of their task, memories of their own rising to the surface with each summoned vice.
Now, he was to see the end result of the Avowed’s work, a special guest at the ritual of judgement. Souls who were lightened of their burdens over the course of time immeasurable were brought forth, the Accuser herself in attendance, many of the Avowed standing by, including those who had brought Luminash into the Venthyr fold, Nelyne and Grigori. Curiously, the magister noted, the Accuser had brought the shade of Kael’thas this day, who stood to the side of the ceremony. Likely meant to learn another lesson in humilty, Nelyne had noted with a laugh.
“Bring the first soul forward. Bring forth Theradan Sevine,” the Accuser decreed from the balcony overlooking the court, “Come forth judges, those who have journeyed alongside this soul, and render your verdict!”
Four Avowed stepped forward, cowls and robes obscuring their forms, as they always did in the rituals. One by one, they raised ritual daggers, tethers of anima binding blade to soul.
Theradan, despite the weakness of his amorphous form, frayed at the edges with year upon year of hubris torn from his fabric, seemed braced for battle, much like a cornered beast.
The first judge spoke, “I condemn this soul to the Maw.”
The Accuser remained silent, standing above the proceedings. Luminash thought he saw a look of displeasure flicker across her face, quickly wiped away. Also present was a look of resignation - he too, could see how Theradan carried himself.
The second judge spoke, “I condemn this soul to the Maw.”
“You have no right to condemn me!” Theradan shouted, his voice strained from his soul’s condition, but still strong, still a voice accustomed to command.
The third judge spoke, “I condemn this soul to the Maw.”
“The things I have done are your crimes too, Venthyr! I reject this court of hypocrisy! I reject your verdict!” Theradan continued. The words sounded to the magister to be rehearsed - or spoken before, in life, perhaps.
The fourth and final judge spoke, “I condemn this soul to the Maw.”
Theradan screamed, a primal, animalistic cry of fury. The anima channeled from the judges wrapped around him, crimson threads binding thrashing arms.
“The judgement of Theradan Sevine is unanimous,” the Accuser intoned, “Despite all our efforts, he clings to his crimes. I hereby decree hubris his undoing. Cast this soul into the Maw!” Her voiced, sharp and commanding, carried throughout the court as the judges dragged their bound charge away.
Luminash’s gaze followed until Theradan was out of sight, snapped back to his immediate surroundings only when the Accuser spoke again.
“Bring forth the next soul awaiting judgement!”

There was something charming about his words, about the way he was encouraging her to let go of the humilty. The witch would have been lying had she not noted a boost of the confidence she usually carried within. Very few got to see said confidence as radiant as some of those closest to her had. "You've got yourself a deal. No matter the outcome, i'll teach you some of those tricks you speak of." Never daring to look away she did take another sip of her drink before letting the glass float away.
Tumblr media
Before long she found herself on the dance floor. "I would happily hear one of your tales. No doubt they're equally as fascinating." Emmeline allowed herself to follow the steps, effortlessly gliding along. The dance lessons always had been some of the preferred sets of study, perhaps a bit more than they should have been. Emmeline Vance was a creature of movement, never standing still and whether it was the shadows she moved through or a broom soaring through the sky or like this, a dance floor filled with people; the witch knew to impress enough not to cause an uproar.
The brunette chuckled at his words, impressed at his reading capabilities. "For what it is worth, I have not." A smile that made its way to take hold of her features. Shadows, they had indeed been her companion for most of her life. "Is that the goal, to drag me into the light to see what colors you will find when said light hits?" Perhaps there was too much darkness at the end of the day. Who could tell? "What about your colors? There is more than the charming exterior, isn't there? The wizard in search of perfection, each step a calculated risk?" Curiosity dancing in her eyes she took another step, turning where the dance demanding it before her face was scanning his once more. - @xantoninxdolohovx
Antonin tutted, shaking his head. “Dear Emmeline, we must rid you of this limiting humility, a bit is good but you need confidence to match your unique nature. I accept your duel, but you’ll have to teach me a few of your tricks no matter who wins, and let me look at your scar a bit more closely. I’m not done with you yet. Is it too arrogant to say, these are questions you must always answer yes to, but never doubt you can pull it off.”
He shared looks between her and her scar before taking her hand again this time pulling her to her feet. Acting as if his advice was merely a statement as fact as was the dance that would follow. It would be enjoyable and a spectacle, something they would both remember until the next time they met. His movements were a bit mechanical that way, rehearsed in how he walked her to the dancefloor, idly wondering if anyone watched or judged, but not quite able to care beyond a slight enjoyment for the impressions he had made. “You shared a story with me, it’s only fair I share one of my own if you would like to hear it.”
He didn’t speak further, waiting for her answer and focusing on the dance, on Emmeline. He took her in, it was hard not to, being this close to a person, another perk of having many partners, each gave up something, a distinct nature shared by the time spent, a smell, a behavior, words used more often. Noticing patterns was his work and this was no different. People were living prophecies if you looked at them hard enough, sometimes more interesting than parchment.
“Have you ever been read? I wonder if being so intertwined with dark magic would make it harder to read your fate directly, another boon or curse depending on how you take it. Your story was interesting, but leaves me with questions, what type of magic, what type of cursed object. I think you enjoy being a mystery, but I will drag you into the light, at least enough to see for myself.”

this month of july,
has met me with a great reverence of new hope and that same hope has been met with dismay, disappointment and humilty.
If there are lessons to learn, I am willing to face them, to accept them, but I'm tired.
I'm here left bare, vulnerable, completely ungrounded.

𝑙𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑆𝐻𝐼𝑁𝑒𝑒 ♡´・ᴗ・`♡
Tumblr media
SHINee is a daily reminder that humility is both valuable and undervalued: they’ve won everything that one can win in the industry, been enormously and steadily successful for thirteen years, worked terribly hard to be as good at singing and dancing and performing as they are, and they’re DAMN GOOD. lesser people or artists might have felt compelled to brag or compare themselves to others to elevate the importance of their accomplishments, but in almost twelve years of following them, I have seldom heard them brag about their accomplishments or skillfullness in any way, and have never heard them put down other artists to feel better about themselves.
but the fact that they are humble doesn’t take away from their pride in their work; in fact, it only enhances it. they never feel like they’re too good to work harder or get better, as evidenced by jinki using his vacation time from the military to take vocal lessons even though he’s a vocal king, for example. it’s one thing to be lacking when you’re just starting out - anybody, including SHINee, can relate to that. but it’s another thing to never improve. their current skills come from years of hard work and improvement. they strive to become better every time they come back, and they make each other better by holding each other accountable. that’s true professionalism - humilty along with pride. they might seem to be opposites, but they’re not. that’s the secret to SHINee.

The Immortal Journey Headcanons || Ideas by SojaOkita
Alright, so, since my post about my headcanon for Irelia / Talon seems to be pretty popular with you guys, I’ve come up with some more interesting ideas I thought could be an addition to it. Feel free to comment if you have any ideas that you would like to see included / developed / mentioned in this post ! I’m trying to develop a more expansive headcanon / fan lore (for lack of a better term) for a possible story I’d like to write for this skin line (If you liked this, I may try to imagine some headcanons for the other champs of the Immortal Journey, aka Fiora, Janna and Yi)~ THIS IS A FAIRLY LONG POST, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Immortal Journey - Irelia
Personality:
Humble - Kind - Loyal - Affectionate - Strong - Born Leader - Fair - Just - Steadfast - Accepting - Patient - Calm - Selfless - Somewhat prone to slight anger when faced with enemies.
Backstory:
Irelia is a demigoddess, meaning she was born from a pair of beings in which one was divine (aka, a literal god) and the other was mortal. In her case, I believe she would be born to a human mother who was of humble birth, meaning that she had no riches whatsoever except for the few coins she would get by selling the produce from her gardens or working on her family’s farm. Irelia grew up aware of her divine ascendance, but never truly acknowledged it since her mother had always made it known that divinity didn’t mean she was superior to anyone in this world in any way. That is why she grew up valueing humility and making it the one value / quality she has centered her life around.
She grew up with her mother’s family, who were either merchants or farmers. She soon learned to value family just as much as humility, and recognized that, often enough, the ones who do so are the happiest. Others who value wealth over all things are often the loneliest of souls.
At age ten, Irelia experienced true violence for the first time. Brigands ransacked her family’s farm and the adjacent village in search of valuables. They killed her mother that night. The demigoddess swore to live by the teachings that her mother had taught her.
Two years after her mother’s death, Irelia began training in combat at the local temple, amongst future warriors of Ionia. She showed exceptional talent and technique -especially when wielding her magical blades-, so much so that by the end of her eight years of training and her joining Ionia’s top warriors, she was one of the nation’s most respected figures. She was twenty years old.
Immortal Journey - Talon
Personality:
Arrogant - Prideful - Confident - Impatient - Reserved - Secretive - Strong - Ambitious - Somewhat entitled - Somewhat curious - Anger issues (sometimes) - Can be friendly - Loyal.
Backstory:
Talon is a dragon born centuries ago, in the seas south of Valoran, to the King and Queen of the seabound kingdom, thus making him a prince. He was quickly used to palace life and, as such, developed a strong sense of entitlement that faded slightly over the years. He aged like any youngling would, quite fast, and then stopped aging completely when he turned about fourty years old.
Very early on, Talon was taught to consider himself as the leader of his people, for he would one day replace his father at the head of the lands he reigned over. He also discovered the powers his family has bestowed upon him at his birth; control over the tides and the sea, as well as transformation, allowing him to shift from dragon to human forms as he pleased.
Curious by nature, Talon soon was out and about, exploring the seas surrounding his kingdom and going as far as venturing on land. His adventures outside the palace lead him to encounter the creatures his second form was inspired from, the humans, and he immediately felt quite superior to them.
Talon was often told by his father that humans were easily impressed creatures, although quite deadly if they weren’t careful. He was never to return to the human lands.
When his parents passed, the burden of ruling over the seabound kingdom of the dragons fell unto him. Now being free of his father’s decisions, he decided to return to the human lands in the hopes of conquering them, out of ambition, pride and arrogance, meaning to prove his superiority over all creatures of the landbound world.
COMMON STORY (applicable to both Talon and Irelia):
When Talon returned for the first time in centuries, much had changed in Ionia (which is the land he had visited before, unbeknownst to him). He touched shore on a beach, alone and in human form, and on this beach he met a young woman with hair a pure black color and eyes of ocean blue, whose name he hadn’t asked. He had immediately known she was different from other humans, but never knew why he had sensed that about her. They spoke for a bit, he decided to be friendly to this girl, as she was intriguing to him. When she left, he had a new desire to find her again.
A month or two later, he returns to shore, this time venturing into the dense forests not too far from the beach he had come to. In human form, he discovered a village where, to his surprise, he found her. Seemingly happy to have found her, he walked up to her, introduced himself again. She remembered him. And he finally asked for her name. Irelia.
Growing ever more curious about this woman, Talon spent more and more time on land, even forgetting why he was there in the first place. He spent his days either exploring this place the mysterious Irelia lived in, or he spent his time with her. They quickly became friends, and soon enough, they had both fallen in love with each other.
Talon still often returned to his people in the sea, to be sure they were faring well. Every time he returned, he was reminded of his objective, and swore that he would one day rule over both land and sea.
About a century passed when he finally decided it was time to act on that promise he had made himself. Over the years, the thirst for more power, for dominion over Valoran and its people had become impossible to quench by remaining by his beautiful companion’s side. It wasn’t enough to have acquired Irelia’s love; the dragon wanted more. So one day, lying to his beloved about his intentions, he set out to conquer the nations of Valoran, setting cities ablaze and terrorizing most of the peaceful kingdoms of the land.
When Irelia finally heard of Talon’s actions, she set out to stop him. Hurt that she would dare try to foil his plan, he returned to his people in the sea, to whom he bragged ceaselessly of his supposed ‘victories’ in the landbound kingdoms. Irked by his behaviour, Irelia ventured into the seas and marched into the underwater palace, where she found the dragons’ court assembled around their king, her former lover.
Irelia thought a lesson was to be learned here. She was not doing this out of spite or because of a desire for revenge, no. She challenged Talon to a duel. Knowing that she was the most feared duelist in all of the human lands, Talon thought this was an opportunity to prove to his court that his words rang with truth, that humans truly were inferior to them. Although the battle was violent, it ended with Irelia’s victory. She sealed away his powers within her six divinde blades and bound Talon to his human form, tasking him with learning humilty amongst the mortals he so brutally assaulted.
Humiliated in front of his entire court, the dragon king Talon exiled himself to the human world, spending decades roaming Valoran’s lands in an attempt to learn to be humble, and trying to regain Irelia’s love, to be pardoned by the demigoddess for the senseless actions he had comitted. He had hopes that she still loved him, just as he still loves her.

I thought Allura's Paladin arc would have been a nice way for her to learn some humilty. But if she stays there like some downgraded foot soldier, that lesseon would never make an impact because she's giving up her power. Thats not humility thats humiliation
I agree on the distinction between humility and humiliation, but I’m not sure I buy that Allura in particular needed to learn humility. It feels too much like punishment, especially when we’re talking about a female character in a position of leadership. Every character certainly has something to learn, but it’s important to think carefully about the larger implications of the lesson.
Honestly, if I had to pick a character who needed to learn humility, it’d be Lance. From the start, he’s far more boast than truth, yet he gets a promotion into Red while Allura gets demoted from leadership to foot soldier?

Where’s the fairytale(I think it was on youtube) where the bride ends up being a spoiled brat so the prince forsakes her and she ends up marrying a lowly....fisher? hunter? some kind of job that keeps him out of the house most days. Being a spoiled brat princess she doesn’t know things like sewing or cooking very well and this is her first hurdle. Eventually she starts selling hats/pottery? at the nearest town but one day all her stock gets ruined and she’s in tears. And then like years into this downward spiral with her and her husband the guy tells her he was the prince all along and he’s been waiting for her to get off her high horse so they can be together....and this just pissed me off?
Like I get teaching a bully a lesson and learning some humilty but I’m like 90% sure this shit went on for over a year and there was a tangible threat of starving they were so poor for the woman even if the prince wouldn’t have actually done that. There’s a lot of comeuppance tales I can get behind but this just settled wrong with me, maybe something in the telling or in the way the story progressed was off but it came across as really edging into sleazy territory. I can’t even remember if the princess had any family left or if she’d been awful to them too, nor can I recall a single moment where the husband and wife had an affectionate moment during their poverty even after she started to lose the attitude. I might be wrong cause I can’t even remember the name of it but I wanna findit again just to see if it still unsettles me or if a second telling would straighten it out.

Aggression and submission switch as I seek discretion, As I seek wisdom from within and from without, every minute I'm with mission or without, I'm in route toward the distant, explicit, taboo pictures on mental tapestry, Conversing with strangers daily about paintings they see or have painted, Blank state of being to allow others a place to relieve pain or curiosity, Or I blank, revealing masked ferocity to estrange humilty's opposite and Fight Fire with Lightning, A problem solved by redirecting its conscience around what is stoppin him, or her, or neither, can't stop the people, but can't stop ego either; as balance Is always the answer but not the product of process  tired of seeing "Kings" and too many pawns, too little Queens and as far as I see it everyone is royalty, Knighted by enlightenment to Unite Men, To bestow a lesson is to receive a lesson from seeing a blessin' is to be a blessin', But lately that's been up for question, until I realized I'm prone to self-objection, So until I eliminate rejection as habit, words will never reach where passion projects it, protects sanity and justice And continue to build pressure in esteem to release a rain of stories, philosophy, daft words Bringing smiles, tears, both food for thought or laughter, Different since I can remember to bring a difference, as i learned to see it, breathing in the conventional to exhale a true original, A never ending story, draggin' pencils to set ablaze inner glory and the more I imagine, the more I tap in to my gift of Gab. Fin.
