friday - 25/08/2023 - feed the baby a food that starts with R

Tallulah was upset about something. She was crying to Phil off to the side. Allie was trying not to pay attention, it was rude to eavesdrop. Ae and Chayenne were sitting, quietly eating their raspberries. Allie had discovered they really like raspberries, they've liked most of the food ae has had the past week but this was even better. Chayenne promised to make xyr raspberry ice cream at some point in the future. He would make it today but it was apparently too hot and he said it would melt. Allie wasn't sure what ice cream was but Chayenne said it was good. When Allie was done with their berries, ae licked at aer fingers to get the rest of the juice. Their hands were stained with the red of the raspberries. Allie did not like that and stood up to go wash their hands in the washing area of the house. Tallulah was there, with her arms folded over each other, looking very grumpy. "Are you okay?" Allie asked, reaching xyr shaky hands into the water to clean the red stains off. "I don't want to take a bath but abuelito says I have to." Talullah frowned. "Why don't you want to bathe? You really wanted to earlier." Allie was confused. "Because then I'd have to take my hearing aids off and I don't want to right now." "So later then?" "Yeah but I want to be clean now." Tallulah was pouting even harder. Allie did not know what to do so they just brought Tallulah into an awkward hug, patting her lightly on the back. "Tallulah, I have a solution." Phil returned to the washing area with Chayenne, a smile on his face. Allie was glad someone knew what to do. Phil was very good at knowing things.

wednesday - 23/08/2023 - go flower picking with the baby

Slimecicle was taking care of Allie today. He seemed nice enough, but Phil had pulled him aside when he first came to pick them up for the day. Allie was curious to what they were talking about but was occupied with chatting with Tallulah. Xe pinkie promised to come back at the end of the day and then Slime and Allie set off to do their tasks. Slime was funny and nice but Allie noted that he had a habit of needing them in his direct line of vision or he'd start to subtly freak out, something that most people wouldn't notice but Allie prided aerself on being observant. It was what kept aer alive before. They had been trying to find a suitable meadow to pick flowers, since Allie had already seen the museum with Phil earlier that week, for what felt like hours. During some point in their trek, xyr joints hurt so much xyr couldn't go on and Slime had been carrying them since then. Sitting on Slime's shoulders was comfy and they were having a lot of fun being tall and getting to see so much. Allie yawned, wishing they could take a nap, folding aer arms on Slime's head so they could rest their head. Slime had been off and on singing and humming for the entire time, but now he was quiet. As the two of them reached the top of the hill they were climbing, they were greeted by the sight of a sprawling field full of pretty flowers. "Well look at that Allie, what luck!" Slime stuttered a bit at aer name, but Allie paid it no mind, straightening up on Slime's shoulders. They had never seen so many flowers in the same place, ae was in awe. Xe only realized xyr mouth was hanging open once they reached the bottom of the hill. Slime picked them up off his shoulders and put aer down. Allie immediately ran towards the closest patch of flowers and sat down. They grabbed the petals of each carefully, inspecting them. Ae had planned to give the bouquet of flowers to Tallulah since she was, what Tallulah had called, aer friend and so the flowers needed to be perfect. While they were waiting for Slime to pick Allie up, Tallulah had explained all the kinds of flowers to Allie and xe was so confused on how there could be so many different kinds of flowers but Allie understood now. Slime let them inspect the flowers to aer liking, chatting to himself and occasionally laughing at a joke he made. Once Allie had collected a bouquet of flowers that they deemed suitable enough for Tallulah, they told Slime who held the flowers while xe got up. Shaking their head to get xyr hair out of their face, Allie realized that it had fallen out of the braid Baghera had made for them when ae met her and now was blowing everywhere. Allie made a face. "Do you need help with that? I used to braid my daughters hair so.." Slime trailed off, tears gathering in his eyes. Allie didn't know that Slime had a daughter. Ae wondered if they would meet her soon. The only other kid she had met was Tallulah because xe were currently staying with her. Chayenne didn't count, he slept most of the time, Allie was hoping he would wake up soon so they could play together. Slime was a fast braider and in no time Allie had two new neat braids. Slime got up to go and Allie saw tear tracks on his cheeks but didn't mention it. It was rude and Allie had manners, ae had to have manners or people would get upset. "Are we going back to Phil and Tallulah now?" Allie asked instead. Ae was done with all of their tasks and they were very, very sleepy. "Yeah, yeah, let's go." Slime wiped his face, sniffling softly. Sitting up on Slime's shoulders, they set off towards the wall.

tuesday - 22/08/2023 - deliver an animal to the zoo

Allie had gotten lost. They were with Tallulah and Phil, Chayenne once again sleeping for most of the day, trying to find animals to deliver to the zoo for that day's tasks. Somehow without realizing it, xe wandered away from the others and now was lost in an unfamiliar biome filled with trees. They plopped down onto a root that was protruding out of the ground, as their knees ached too much to stand at that moment. Ae looked around, sniffling, what if Phil never found them and ae was lost forever? Or worse, what if the scary people found xem and they had to go back to the small room. Allie's hands shook at the thought, tears falling down their cheeks. No, Phil said that he would protect them from what he called The Federation. They didn't have to go back. Allie was abruptly shaken from aer's thoughts when they heard a humming sound close to aers head. Xe looked up, very confused, seeing a small blue and green blur fly past their head and land on one of the pretty flowers in the forest. Allie stood up shakily to investigate it closer. It seemed to be a bird, like Phil and the kind duck lady, Baghera, were. But much smaller and faster. Allie reached out one of their hands to touch the birdie, trying to go slow as not not spook it like ae did earlier with a turtle, before xe got lost. The bird was soft, and let Allie pet its head. Ae suddenly had an idea, Phil had given them some snacks for the journey to the forest, maybe the bird would want some? Pulling out a handful of tasty berries from xyr pocket, Allie offered them to the small bird. To Allie's surprise, it hopped onto aer hand to nibble at the berries. It poked at them for a bit, then abandoned the berries to perch on Allie's shoulder. Allie flinched, ae did not expect that. Suddenly they heard Phil's voice calling their name and lit up. Ae stuffed the berries back into xyr pocket and ran towards the sound of his voice, almost tripping over several hidden roots in the process. Catching sight of Phil who had his back to them, Allie ran even faster, slamming their body painfully into the back of his legs. Phil twisted around at the impact, relaxing when he saw them. "Please don't do that again kid," He sighed, ruffling their hair, "Thought I lost you there." "I'm sorry. Got lost. Made a friend." They signed, and pointed to the small bird who had somehow stayed on their shoulder while ae ran through the woods. Tallulah who was close to Phil, grabbed onto Allie's hand tightly, clutching a turtle in her other hand. Allie made eye contact with her and Tallulah blinked, somehow menacingly, like she was trying to telepathically talk to Allie. Ae could not parse out what she meant by that, they would have to ask later. "Well, If you two have your animals for the zoo we should be getting back. It's only safe, I don't want anyone else to get lost. Next time Allie, don't wander off and hold onto me." Phil lightly scolded, and usually Allie would be terrified of punishment but they were so happy at being found by Phil and not the scary men that they didn't feel like crying this time. They all pulled out their portable waystones, Allie's was brand new, and teleported to the zoo to deliver the animals to their new homes.

thursday - 24/08/2023 - take a picture of the baby while building

Allie was back with Phil for today, no one else was available to babysit them. They felt bad, feeling like ae was intruding on Phil and Tallulah's space. But xe had no idea where they wouldn't be intruding, other than xyr old home which xe did not want to go back to ever, so they didn't say anything.

Chayenne had woken up from his long sleep today, so ae finally got to meet him! That was nice. He taught ae how to cook some things, his backpack was full of ingredients more than Allie had ever seen.

Currently they were working on a small section of Tallulah's garden, under her direct supervision. Tallulah was directing them and Chayenne on where to put everything, and Allie was following the directions to the best of aer ability. Tallulah had put them on dirt digging duty after xe had dropped a handful of seeds.

And another row done! Allie looked up from the mossy ground of Tallulah's garden, ready to start digging small holes for the seeds with their claws in the next row but realized ae had finished.

Standing up ae wandered over to Tallulah who was carefully inspecting a bunch of saplings and sorting them. Chayenne walked up to her at the same time with a bundle of flowers in his arms.

"Lullah, where do these go?" Chayenne signed, shifting the flowers under his arm so he could speak. Tallulah contemplated for a second before pointing him towards the section Allie had just finished preparing. That made a small burst of pride erupt in Allie's chest. Ae did a good job!

"What can I do next to help," Allie asked, "I finished all the digging." Tallulah patted the space next to her.

"You can help sort these saplings, Chayenne got me too many and I need to figure out how many of each I have." Allie sat down next to Tallulah and started helping her sort through the saplings. It was truly a ton of saplings. Chayenne seemed to really care about Tallulah. Allie got a little sad. They suddenly wanted a sibling so badly. Ae didn't know that they felt lonely for so long until xe was faced with new friends and the idea of siblings so all of the waves of loneliness were crashing over aer.

Allie sniffled a little, they missed aer caretaker. Sure, the others in their old home were scary and mean but their caretaker was always nice to Allie.

They were knocked out of aer sad thoughts by Tallulah handing xyr more saplings to sort. Maybe they didn't need a sibling if ae had friends like Tallulah and Chayenne. Slime was nice too, if a little sad, maybe Allie could ask to be his friend too. Tallulah had also mentioned more kids on the island, Allie wanted to meet them. Although Tallulah said their family mostly kept to themselves, which was why Allie was staying with them for xyr safety.

Allie was too caught up in aer thought's that they nearly missed Phil calling for them. Tallulah poked them on the shoulder and Allie startled, seeing Chayenne suddenly very close to the two of them.

"Kids, look over here," Phil called, holding up a camera, "Smile!"

Allie pulled their lips back in what xyr thought looked like a smile, they had never really thought about smiling before, and as far as ae knew the first time they smiled or saw someone smile other than aer former caretaker was when the adults on the island took them in.

"Great," Phil said, looking at the camera, "You can continue building now." Chayenne nodded and went off to continue planting the flowers. Tallulah handed Allie another bundle of saplings, it was going to be a long couple of hours.

since im joining the a1 adoption project here are my personal headcanons for a1 that will be present in my writing!!

- renamed by the islanders as Allie

- uses they/xe/ae pronouns

- has fibromyalgia and hand tremors (while also being mute like the rest of the eggs)

- they’re albino! and their hair is very long and only recently not tangled because the federation did not care about keeping up their appearance

monday - 21/08/2023 - feed the baby something from the sea

Allie was slightly confused on how fishing worked. They looked down at the fishing rod that Phil had given them, staring down at the tangled mess the string had become while ae tried to figure out how to use it. Xe looked over at Tallulah who was humming under her breath while holding the fishing rod in her hands, somehow her string had made it into the water successfully.

They should really ask how to use a fishing rod but they didn't want to bother Phil who was also fishing, sitting next to Tallulah. Xe was already a big enough burden as it was. Allie could figure out how to fish themself.

First though, ae needed to untangle the string, which shouldn't be hard. Allie set to work attempting to untangle the fishing rod string, but to no avail. It seemed like every time they undid a knot, their shaky hands created a new one.

Starting to sniffle, they continued trying to untangle it. But the more xe failed, the shakier their hands would get and their vision got blurred with tears that slipped down aer's face.

Eventually, they felt a small hand on xer shoulder. Looking over to their side through blurred vision they saw Tallulah, looking at xem worriedly.

"Are you okay," She signed, frowning, "You look sad."

"I messed it up." Allie signed back with shaky hands, gesturing to the mess of string in their lap.

"Just ask Phil to fix it." And before Allie could protest Tallulah had already scooped up the now useless fishing rod and was walking over to Phil. Allie had no choice but to follow.

When Tallulah was close enough, she poked Phil in the side, Allie following close behind

"Yes Tallulah?" Phil asked, before setting his fishing rod off to the side and turning to face her. Tallulah dumped the fishing rod into his lap before signing to him.

"Fix, please."

Phil inspected the fishing road carefully

"I don't think this is fixable," He sighed, after a couple minutes of searching the knots. Allie felt even worse, more tears threatening to spill down aer's cheeks.

Seeming to notice Allies predicament, Phil reached his hand into Allies fluffy white hair, ruffling it a little.

"Don't worry about it though, I have plenty of resources to make another, mate." Phil stowed the fishing rods away in his inventory and stood up, stretching out his wings. Allie still felt like crying, but it helped a little.

"Besides, I think I got enough fish for both of your tasks, we just need to cook it up. Pity Chayenne is sleeping in today or the task would've already been finished with all of the food he keeps in his backpack."

Phil started walking back towards the waystone pillar that would take them back to his house on the wall, they were unable to use their portable waystones since Allie didn't have one yet, but the nice demon man, whose name xe forgot, said he was working on it.

Tallulah grabbed Allie's hand and skipped along behind him, Allie stumbling along after her. Their knees and ankles protested at the quick movement after such a long time being stationary.

They made it back to Phil's house safely, Phil insisting on Allie and Tallulah teleporting first.

While Phil cooked up the fish he and Tallulah had caught, Tallulah showed Allie her flute, playing a song for them. When the song was finished, Allie clapped, signing their compliments to Tallulah. They thought that Tallulah's songs were very good. Maybe once day she could teach them some! If xe stays.

"Food's ready!" Phil called, not too loud. Allie liked that, ae didn't like when people were too loud. They weren't used to it.

Running up to Phil, following behind Tallulah, Phil handed them both a tuna sandwich. Tallulah immediately started tucking in, she had confided in Allie earlier that she hated the avocado toast that Phil used fed her and was very super excited for a change in pace for one meal.

Allie bit into the tuna sandwich, pausing for a second before chewing. It tasted so good! They thought the food the adults had given them before was a fluke, based on the food xe used to get in their old home, but maybe all food here was like this. They hoped so, it was very good.

Ae took aer's time eating and savoring every bite of the sandwich and once they were done they thanked Phil.

"No problem kid. Time for the next task of the day."

"We should go to the museum next." Tallulah signed excitedly, bouncing up and down from her heels to her toes. Allie just nodded along, xe didn't know what a museum was but surely someone would explain it or ae would figure it out.

"Okay, let's go. But we should check to see if Chayenne's awake first, just in case." And so they headed into Tallulah and Chayenne's bunker, where an extra bed for Allie was set up for the night.

i'll probably not be able to do the egg tasks on saturday or sunday because i'm moving back to university but usually i'm going to try and make the weekend tasks A Lot longer and more world-buildy, just a heads up!
