giorgia godfrey was showered with love from her parents from the moment she took her first breath. the only child of michael and noemi godfrey, the two always ensured that giorgia would get everything she wanted and needed. to guarantee their daughter would have a bright future, they arranged for her to form friendships around the world at a young age, hoping it would make her become accustomed to their lavish lifestyle.

the frequent trips in private jets made giorgia start to consider the world as her second home. travelling every other weekend allowed her to blossom socially, and although her father owned a sports car company, giorgia was more attracted to fashion and arts. this stemmed from the days she trailed behind her mother in elegant dresses, greeting others in the same social circles as they readied themselves to host charity galas or to view the latest art exhibition.

everything changed when giorgia's mother passed away when she was sixteen. the constant flights and exquisite parties stopped when she realized it wouldn't fill the hole in her heart. in an attempt to deal with her grief, giorgia found solace in drinking alcohol, severely damaging her health throughout the next two years. hanging around bad crowds swiftly became a regular thing for giorgia, oblivious to the fact that she was throwing away the very life that her parents had built for her.

by some miracle ( her father's lucrative connections ), she was able to graduate from the expensive international high school she was enrolled in. the second her mortarboard was thrown in the air, michael had giorgia's bags packed and sent her to the airport. she would never forget the sensation of her father's lips on her forehead by the steps of the plane, telling her that he was helping her and that travelling the world again would help her mourn.

and so giorgia travelled once more. although she visited many cities, nothing quite left an impact on her like new york did. she adored the vibrant lights of manhattan; the beauty of it as a whole. when giorgia turned twenty, she felt as if she was finally recovering from her grief. when she landed back in london, she found out that michael had already started a new life without her — with a fiancée that he barely knew. furious, giorgia began exhibiting destructive behavior again. she could hardly remember a day when she was sober in what were supposed to be the prime years of her life.

the turning point came when giorgia was twenty-four. she met someone who would eventually become the love of her life. she had fallen hard for them, but she knew she couldn't let them into her life without it ending in flames due to her harmful ways — so she made an effort to change. she went to therapy, months spent in rehabilitation centers to battle her alcohol addiction. her relationship with the love of her life eventually ended as it wasn't meant to be, but she was still grateful that they had pushed her for her own growth.

after her final stage of recovery at the age of twenty-six, giorgia was determined to never step foot in a rehabilitation center again. her father's wedding coming near served as a reminder that her late mother's presence was slowly fading away from her life. london no longer felt like home. she felt desperate to travel again, and despite michael's best efforts to get her to stay, giorgia went away to live with her mother's family in milan.

in italy, she slowly rediscovered her passion for fashion, which had always been a part of her upbringing. offers from various fashion brands to be a model came in, yet giorgia ultimately chose dior as it had been her mother's signature brand. although modelling had become as easy as breathing to her, soon she found her new calling — the opportunity to advance her fashion career in the united states as an influencer. with encouragement from the maternal side of her family, giorgia decided to relocate to new york, the city that she fell in love with so many years ago.

already established above, but giorgia is an absolute social butterfly. she's very good at making people feel comfortable in her company, and does her best to get people she just met to open up to her. ( this is not always a positive thing though, as she used her extroversion to mix in with bad crowds in high school — and also got her stepmother to reveal hidden secrets so that she could use it to her own advantage lol. )

giorgia is extremely connected with her italian roots, as a way of honouring her mother. she has multiple tattoos in italian, including her mother's name on her left wrist ( more to be found here ). she is also fluent in italian as her mother taught her and used to speak it with her.

she uses her mother's maiden name mariano as her own surname as another way to honour her, and giorgia also knows that this irks her father which motivates her to use it even more.

she is super blunt and can't shut up sometimes, which makes her comes across as insensitive when she actually has the best intentions at heart! she just needs to learn how to close her mouth lmao

retail therapy galore. has dozens of bags, countless pairs of shoes and tons of shit in her closet. do NOT bring her shopping as she will buy everything under the sun and will convince you to do it too.

Thirteenth Doctor Issue #0 - The Many Lives of Doctor Who (Titan Comics)

With that comes a brand new series of comics as well. Soon she will be the star of the Doctor Who Magazine strip, as the Twelfth reign comes to an end. She is also launching as the star of her very own comic book range by Titan Comics, the current license holder of Doctor Who comics (beyond the aforementioned DWM strip). Titan wanted to launch their new line with some build up. Their first foray was the Road to the Thirteenth Doctor mini-series. That was basically three one-offs that told a story of the Tenth, Eleventh, and then Twelfth Doctors, supposedly leading up the new range. But really they were just random adventures that could fit anywhere, with the actual Thirteenth Doctor teases thrown in at the end...and those were all essentially the same. See the Doctor in the middle of a TV episode, some kind of glowing beam of light with a hand reaching out would appear...and that was it. It didn't really leave me anticipating the Thirteenth Doctor's arrival, because it didn't really feel like it was trying to build to her. Clearly a part of her story arc is getting teased, but in the most unsubstantial way I can't claim to care. Well now we have what is being dubbed "Issue 0" of the Thirteenth Doctor line, and it is a definite step up from the Road To... comics. The Many Lives of Doctor Who essentially takes place during the Twelfth Doctor's regeneration into Thirteen, with the Doctor continuing to speak to his future self inside their own head, and as he does so we see a different adventure for each previous incarnation of the Doctor. Unlike that Road mini-series, this entire issue feels like an actual build towards this new Doctor. Legally, they can't unveil too much of the new Doctor until after her first episode airs on October 7th, they can show visual glimpses, maybe a word or two, but they can't give her a true full comic book adventure until she has had her first true on-screen launch. So they build to her. And unlike that mini-series, this one really feels like the beginning of a new era. Not every small adventure is great, but they each capture some essence of each incarnation of the Doctor. And each adventure tries to capture what makes the Doctors all so similar. That is what it is about, the Doctor goes through many different lives, but there is a through-line. It's packed with references and callbacks and classic lines rehashed...but it is full of love. Sometimes when I see these classic lines regurgitated I roll my eyes. This time it felt very much about regeneration, so revisiting all those lines from regeneration scenes feels appropriate. The final page is really what it is all about, it shows the Thirteenth Doctor in her full costume, from behind, looking at a beautiful sunset on some planet somewhere...as the Twelfth Doctor in her head toasts the new Doctor and her continued adventures. It leaves me excited to continue on, to see her have some adventures like all the previous Doctors. This isn't a new idea, a comic book that is essentially a collection of short comics for each Doctor. It's happened in the past a lot. But this is one of the better books to attempt it. I certainly enjoyed reading this far more than The Forgotten. And it accomplishes its goal. Following the exciting news that The Girl Who Handcuffed Houdini has been adapted into an immersive theatre show, which opened last week at Theater 80 in New York City, creator Cynthia von Buhler is making a special NYCC appearance at Titan booth #2142 on Thursday, October 4 at 3:30PM where she will be signing copies of the critically-acclaimed graphic novel. Cynthia will be joined by by “Minky Woodcock muse” Pearls Daily and Hard Case Crime founder, Charles Ardai. Running until November 11, audience members at the immersive theatre show can experience séances, illusions and Houdini’s infamous Water Torture Chamber Escape while exploring three floors of a restored 1920s speakeasy.
