i want to make you aware of the existence of olms (pictured above) and tell you some good facts about us!
They eat, sleep, and breed underwater. Feeding on crustaceans like shrimp, insects and snails. Olm are only found in underground cave systems in the Balkans and are Europe's only cave-adapted vertebrate, but despite being thought to live more than 100 years, they reproduce just once or twice per decade.
Olms reproduce by either laying eggs or giving birth to live young. Temperature appears to be the factor that determines which reproductive strategy is used, with colder water triggering the bearing of live young.
They are an entirely aquatic species that can survive without food for up to 10 years and can live for 58 years or more. The olm is not sexually mature until reaching around 12 years of age and reproduces very slowly.
A study published in Biology Letters estimated that they have a maximum lifespan of over 100 years and that the lifespan of an average adult is around 68.5 years. When compared to the longevity and body mass of other amphibians, olms are outliers, living longer than would be predicted from their size.
Predators of olms include fish, toads, and birds.
Olm are only found in underground cave systems in the Balkans and are Europe's only cave-adapted vertebrate.
They retain numerous larval traits, such as well-developed gills, a lateral line system, and tiny limbs. The olm grows to about 30 cm (12 inches) long and has a normally white (unpigmented) body, red gill plumes, a narrow head, and a blunt snout. Olms reproduce by either laying eggs or giving birth to live young.

According to the Weather Channel, a blast of arctic cold is set to deliver record-setting, frigid air to much of the country, including the Deep South, this week. Dangerously cold wind chills are also expected, especially in the Northern Plains and Rockies. The report also said that the generally colder pattern could hang on until the last full week of January or even longer.
For geoengineering expert Dane Wigington and Brighteon founder Mike Adams, the cold weather is already known to the public to be manipulated. The technology exists and it is already in the U.S. Patent Office. "They put labels on these engineered storms like calling it an 'Arctic blast', straight out of the record-warm Gulf of Mexico," Wigington said in the recent "Health Ranger Report" episode, explaining how the weather terrorism is being committed. "They pushed this moisture, manipulated up the eastern seaboard, wrapped it around a counterclockwise, spinning low-pressure zone and chemically nucleated it the entire way. As you get further along in this process, you have the ice storm transition zone between the warm flow of the Gulf of Mexico's moisture and eventually, what ends up being various forms of frozen material falling from the sky, which are chemically nucleated. This frozen material is falling in ever higher temperatures above freezing."
According to him, weather agencies are going to great lengths to explain the "phenomenon" as they routinely show snow starting at 38F degrees, sometimes 40F or above. He added that if the climate manipulators continue the chemical ice nucleating cloud seeding operations, the surface temperatures will drop, sometimes precipitously, depending on how much of this they apply and how long they apply it for. This will give them the ability to induce all the hazards on the ground that come with extra ice and extra snow. The two also discussed how the manipulated cold weather is about to hit the breadbasket of America. "It's Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and parts of Colorado. The food production in this area is massive. This is what feeds much of the United States," Adams pointed out. "In terms of wheat, corn, barley and all these things that are grown in the Midwest and the Upper Midwest, there are devastating temperatures here now."

Global temperatures soared to a new record in September by a huge margin, stunning scientists and leading one to describe it as “absolutely gobsmackingly bananas”.
The hottest September on record follows the hottest August and hottest July, with the latter being the hottest month ever recorded. The high temperatures have driven heatwaves and wildfires across the world.
September 2023 beat the previous record for that month by 0.5C, the largest jump in temperature ever seen. September was about 1.8C warmer than pre-industrial levels. Datasets from European and Japanese scientists confirm the leap.

The heat is the result of the continuing high levels of carbon dioxide emissions combined with a rapid flip of the planet’s biggest natural climate phenomenon, El Niño. The previous three years saw La Niña conditions in the Pacific Ocean, which lowers global temperature by a few tenths of a degree as more heat is stored in the ocean.
Conditions have now rebounded to an El Niño event, which releases ocean heat and drives up temperatures. It’s all but certain that 2023 will be the hottest on record and 2024 may even exceed that, as the heating impact of El Niño is felt most in the year after it begins.
“September was, in my professional opinion as a climate scientist, absolutely gobsmackingly bananas,” said Zeke Hausfather, at the Berkeley Earth climate data project.

Mika Rantanen, climate researcher at the Finnish Meteorological Institute, said: “I’m still struggling to comprehend how a single year can jump so much compared to previous years.” Prof Ed Hawkins, at the University of Reading, UK, said the heat seen this summer was “extraordinary”.

Samantha Burgess, at the EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service, said: “The unprecedented temperatures for the time of year observed in September have broken records by an extraordinary amount. 2023 [is] on track to be the warmest year and about 1.4C above pre-industrial average temperatures. Two months out from [the UN climate conference] Cop28, the sense of urgency for ambitious climate action has never been more critical.”
The heat hit record levels within many countries too, including France, Germany, and Poland. The UK saw its joint hottest September on record, the Met Office reported, in data that goes back to 1884.
In Australia, climate scientist and author Joelle Gergis said: “Observations of Australia’s climate in September are shocking. Figures show where maximum temperatures were the highest on record, with many areas 3C to 5C above average. Rainfall deficits are primed for drought. Summer is going to be brutal.”

While human-caused global heating and El Niño are the biggest factors causing the record-breaking temperatures, other factors may be contributing small increases as well, Hausfather said. These include an uptick in the 11-year solar cycle, cuts in sun-blocking sulphur emissions from shipping and industry and a volcanic eruption in Tonga that released a large amount of water vapour, which traps heat.
In August, the Guardian asked 45 leading climate scientists from around the world about the record-breaking temperatures. They said that, despite it certainly feeling as if events had taken an alarming turn, the broad global heating trend seen to date was entirely in line with three decades of scientific predictions.
Increasingly severe weather impacts had also been long signposted by scientists, although the speed and intensity of the reality and the unexpected vulnerability of many populations scared some. The off-the-charts sea temperatures and Antarctic sea ice loss were seen as the most shocking events.
The scientists said that the exceptional events of 2023 could be a normal year in just a decade, unless there is a dramatic increase in climate action. The researchers overwhelmingly pointed to one action as critical: slashing the burning of fossil fuels down to zero.

The A-12 Engines
The J58 turbojet engines that would enable the A-12 to fly so high and fast were the most persistent problem. Designed in 1956 for a Navy aviation project that was canceled, the engines had to undergo major modifications to turn them into the most powerful air- breathing propulsion devices ever made. Just one J58 had to produce as much power as all four of the Queen Mary’s huge turbines—160,000 horsepower or over 32,000 pounds of thrust. To crank it up, two Buick (later, Chevrolet) racecar engines on a special cart were used. The unmuffled, big block engines put out over 600 horsepower and made a deafening roar. The J58s themselves put out an almost incredible din. Recalling his visit to the test site to watch a midnight takeoff, DCI Richard Helms wrote that “[t]he blast of flame that sent the black, insect- shaped projectile hurtling across the tarmac made me duck instinctively. It was if the Devil himself were blasting his way straight from Hell.”5
As with so much else on the A-12, getting the engines to work at design specifications posed never-before-encountered troubles with fabrication, materials technology, and testing. Not the least of them was the superhot conditions. Maximum fuel temperatures reached 700 degrees F.; engine inlet temperatures climbed to over 800; lubricants ranged from 700 to 1,000; and turbine inlets reach 2,000 degrees F. and above.
A Pratt & Whitney engineer later wrote that “I do not know of a single part, down to the last cotter key, that could be made from the same materials as used on previous engines.”6
Pratt & Whitney’s continuing difficulties with the weight, performance, and delivery of the J58 forced delays in the completion of the first A-12. After meeting with the manufacturer in early January 1962, Johnson noted in his log that
[t]heir troubles are desperate. It is almost unbelievable that they could have gotten this far with the engine without uncovering basic problems which have been normal in every jet engine I have ever worked with... Prospect of an early flight engine is dismal, and I feel our program is greatly jeopardized.7
To prevent further scheduling setbacks, Johnson and CIA officials already had decided to use the less powerful J75 in early flights. The airframe had to be slightly altered to accommodate the substitute engine, which could power the craft only up to Mach 1.6 and 50,000 feet. Despite enormous development costs of the J58, the engines were not ready until January 1963, and the A-12 did not reach Mach 3 speed until the following July—more than a year after the first test flight.

More nonsense world building for Nikia's story.
I've said before that the 'skypeans' of her home islands have bigger wings and the relative size has only grown over time. The average size is from just above head height to knees or calves. Nikia's wings drag on the floor at their normal size, though her close relatives have slightly bigger wings than average as well.
At the moment she's the only one capable of reliable flight but there is a heat vent on Winter Island where winged locals can hover for as long as they can hold out their wings to catch the strong updraft. That's actually where she practiced before attempting serious flight when she realized her wings were still growing despite reaching the previously believed maximum size.
She has a few cousins whose wing spans look promising and several others not related.
There are some interesting cultural practices connected to their wings due to the massive size. Familial and courting rituals often involve grooming each other's wings. Messy wings is a sign of poor health, antisocial behavior, and other mental health issues. Nikia has trouble with her own wings and it often takes quite a long time to properly groom them but it's more necessary since maintained wings means better flight.
Most end up molting at least once a year or if they start living on the other island for an extended length of time to allow new growth capable of maintaining a healthy body temperature. The feathers are usually heavily cleaned and recycled. Most bedding and insulated clothing is stuffed with recycled feathers. Some keep pin feathers to give as tokens of affection, high regard, or decoration. It's generally bad form to take shed feathers without asking, kind of creepy really, like a stranger taking a lock of your hair after a haircut. It's also bad luck.
Most wings have different plumage though for simplicity it's usually something similar to real life birds, though solid colors is common, there's usually 'blemishes' of different color sprinkles throughout. Rarely do wings match hair color exactly, though they are typically complimentary. There are even different shapes but it's subtle, mostly keeping to more broad spans. Nikia's wings are based on Snowy Owl wings. Loosely.
It's common for natives to emphasize promises or similar sentiments by bowing slightly and expanding their wings parallel to the ground as wide as they can. Usually only serious ones but it's viewed as a physical sign of honesty and integrity. Exposing their wings to possible attack if someone thinks they're dishonest. Nikia doesn't like to do this because it feels wrong to have her wings short but doing it at their natural size is a damn hassle and a little bit of a hazard. So she just avoids making promises.
Most clothes made for natives have low cut backs to accommodate the base of their wings. This does mean people buying clothes without paying attention could end up exposing more of their back than expected. But it's taken as a fashion statement rather than the practical trend it is. This is not shared on Winter Island due to the low temperature. They wear specialty shirts and tops that wrap around the base a few inches to keep the cold off their back when possible. Typically through vests that are layered over and under other clothes. Most wings are well groomed enough that exposure to the cold isn't an issue. Aided by a slight oil that makes the feathers lightly waterproof and keeps them tidy.
Usually, they float in the water. Their wings trap air quite well and create buoyancy. Nikia also floats but only if she manages to keep her wings cupped around her body as she lays on the water. It's hard and uncomfortable but it's the closest she gets to swimming anymore.
Most beds the natives use are circular to accommodate stretching of the wings overnight. As a consequence, Nikia's bed is massive and she low-key hates it cause she already doesn't want to leave her warm bed. Having to roll over several times to escape isn't helping.

While most supervillains stick to working in the shadows to elude capture, some have the power to flaunt in broad daylight and few of those so powerful were as audacious (or obnoxious, depending on who you asked) as the corporate terrorist Malik Abbas, known otherwise as Infernace. Dressed in the traditional Hafjin garb of a spirit of vengeance, Infernace was an arsonist unmatched, with high training in Fortification complementing a powerful Drift ability that ranked him a formidable 8.0 out of 10 on ADAPT's threat level registry. It was only after the birth of his daughter that he was finally officially caught, and the wealth of dirt he had on many a man wanted and otherwise, helped reduce his sentence to be able to live with his daughter on the outside (under probationary restrictions and with Anti-Astral tech keeping his abilities in line).
Infernace's Astral Drift is "Irit Engine". Infernace has mastery over fire and heat, able to absorb, emit and control it and even conjure hard objects that can be simply warm to the touch/nonflammable at Infernace's choosing. In order to fuel this power, Infernace requires a high caloric diet to burn, lest his own body mass be used as fuel for the fire. Infernace after a hearty meal is at his most dangerous, and the opposite is true when he has an empty stomach. In addition to this, Infernace has a maximum temperature his body can reach before it starts to shut down from the intense heat of his attacks. This means, peculiarly for a pyromancer, cooling his body is a benefit in his favor. A dunk in water or blasted by a chill of ice in fact keeps him in the fight longer.
Infernace has also gone a mad step above to facilitate his Astral Drift with technology; His "Tiqna" technology has surgically replaced his digestive system with bionic copies able to digest not just regular food and liquids, but even those normally toxic to people, allowing Infernace to eat or drink beyond excess or ingest poison without fear of death. The answer to why Infernace had taken such extreme measures is one he left behind with his old life of burning down facilities and factories.

A bleeder valve is a type of valve that allows the release of pressure within a system. It can be used to release excess pressure when there are no other options for removing pressure, such as when you have no way to drain your radiator or coolant from your engine. Its name comes from its similarity to a bleeder and a device used to bleed air out of an automobile’s hydraulic brake systems. To work correctly, a bleed valve function has an opening and a closing mechanism. The opening mechanism is what allows the bleeder valve to open and close; this will vary based on the specific type of bleeder valve that you are using, but it typically consists of a handle with several different positions (such as open and closed) or a simple lever that swings between open and closed.
What is the Working Principle in Bleeder Valve?
The working principle of a bleeder valve is quite simple. It consists of a hole (it can be round or square) that goes through the valve body, and this hole leads into a pipe that usually goes straight to the outdoors.
When the pressure inside the tank reaches its maximum point, which can be due to many factors, this will cause some noise, but this should not be mistaken for any damage to your machine.

1. Provides safe pressure relief
When your car’s bleeder valve kicks on, the pressure in the system above the valve is released. The excess pressure is siphoned through the valve and into the atmosphere, leaving your car’s interior cooler than before. With the IMD coming out with a ‘red alert’ for the national capital and other parts of North India, health experts warned people against stepping outdoors, especially between 11 am and 4 pm, as it could lead to a downturn in their health. Offering little respite to people reeling under a savage and searing summer wave across the vast swathes of the country’s northern belt, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted heatwave to severe heatwave conditions to prevail over parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh as it issued a ‘red alert’ for the states over the next five days. The Met Department said maximum daytime temperatures in several districts of these states may breach the 47°C-mark.  Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, senior IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said, “Temperatures are currently above normal across North West India and we had issued a red alert for the region over the past 2-3 days. With regard to a state-wise forecast, we have issued a red alert in Rajasthan for the next five days. The maximum temperature is likely to inch further up from 45°C and settle at 47°C.” “In Punjab and Haryana, maximum temperatures have registered a marginal drop due to a prevailing western disturbance but they will increase gradually hereafter by 2 to 3 degrees. we have already issued a ‘red alert’ for these two states. In neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, we have issued a red alert for the next five days and an orange alert for northern parts of Madhya Pradesh,” Kumar told ANI. However, while the North bakes under an unrelenting summer sun, a measure of respite is likely down South, as the senior IMD scientist added that heavy to very heavy rains, up to 12 cm, are likely in Tamil Nadu and Kerala over the next 2-3 days. Large swaths of northern India are bracing for an intense heatwave over the next few days, with temperatures expected to reach a scorching 45°C (113°F) in some areas. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the region, warning of an "extreme" heatwave condition.
The states of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to bear the brunt of the sweltering heat. In the national capital of Delhi, maximum temperatures may climb as high as 46°C (115°F) by this weekend, according to IMD forecasts.
"This is going to be one of the worst heatwaves in recent years for this region," said Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General of the IMD. "We advise people to stay indoors as much as possible in the afternoon hours and ensure proper hydration."
Large cities like Delhi and Lucknow are making preparations to deal with the extreme heat. Municipal corporations have set up drinking water camps and cooling shelters for the homeless. Public health advisories have been issued, warning people about the dangers of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The scorching temperatures are being caused by a high pressure system parked over northwestern India, combined with hot and dry northwesterly winds sweeping across the region. Climate scientists have warned that heatwaves are becoming more intense and frequent due to global warming.
"The heatwave we are witnessing is a manifestation of climate change caused by human activities," said Chandni Singh, an environmental researcher at Delhi University. "Unless urgent action is taken to reduce emissions and transition to clean energy, such extreme weather events will only intensify in the coming decades."
Beyond the immediate health impacts, the heatwave also threatens agricultural output across the northern plains which form the breadbasket of India. Standing wheat and vegetable crops are at risk of heat stress and potential yield losses if the extreme temperatures persist.
Electricity grids are also under strain as the demand for air conditioning and cooling spikes during peak hours. In Delhi, the local utility company has issued an appeal to residents to use electricity judiciously to prevent outages.
The heatwave is expected to abate slightly towards the end of next week as a western disturbance approaches the region, bringing some rainfall and cloud cover. However, the overall summer outlook indicates above-normal temperatures for most parts of north and northwestern India this year.

According to the Weather Channel, a blast of arctic cold is set to deliver record-setting, frigid air to much of the country, including the Deep South, this week. Dangerously cold wind chills are also expected, especially in the Northern Plains and Rockies. The report also said that the generally colder pattern could hang on until the last full week of January or even longer.
For geoengineering expert Dane Wigington and Brighteon founder Mike Adams, the cold weather is already known to the public to be manipulated. The technology exists and it is already in the U.S. Patent Office. “They put labels on these engineered storms like calling it an ‘Arctic blast’, straight out of the record-warm Gulf of Mexico,” Wigington said in the recent “Health Ranger Report” episode, explaining how the weather terrorism is being committed. “They pushed this moisture, manipulated up the eastern seaboard, wrapped it around a counterclockwise, spinning low-pressure zone, and chemically nucleated it the entire way. As you get further along in this process, you have the ice storm transition zone between the warm flow of the Gulf of Mexico’s moisture and eventually, what ends up being various forms of frozen material falling from the sky, which are chemically nucleated. This frozen material is falling in ever higher temperatures above freezing.”
According to him, weather agencies are going to great lengths to explain the “phenomenon” as they routinely show snow starting at 38F degrees, sometimes 40F or above. He added that if the climate manipulators continue the chemical ice nucleating cloud seeding operations, the surface temperatures will drop, sometimes precipitously, depending on how much of this they apply and how long they apply it for. This will give them the ability to induce all the hazards on the ground that come with extra ice and extra snow. The two also discussed how the manipulated cold weather is about to hit the breadbasket of America. “It’s Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and parts of Colorado. This is what feeds much of the United States,” Adams pointed out. “In terms of wheat, corn, barley, and all these things that are grown in the Midwest and the Upper Midwest, there are devastating temperatures here now.”

‘The SR-71 could attain Mach 3.5, but the aircraft would be in an untested and prohibited area outside of its flight envelope, and serious damage to the aircraft might occur,’ Bredette BC Thomas, high-time SR-71 Blackbird pilot.
The SR-71, unofficially known as the “Blackbird,” is a long-range, advanced, strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Lockheed A-12 and YF-12A aircraft.
No reconnaissance aircraft in history has operated in more hostile airspace or with such complete impunity than the SR-71 Blackbird. It is the fastest aircraft propelled by air-breathing engines. The Blackbird’s performance and operational achievements placed it at the pinnacle of aviation technology developments during the Cold War.
The Blackbird was designed to cruise at “Mach 3+,” just over three times the speed of sound or more than 2,200 miles per hour and at altitudes up to 85,000 feet.

‘However, doing so would exceed the compressor inlet temperature limit, as well as other limits both heat related and structural. I am certain that no pilot ever put both throttles in maximum afterburner and let the aircraft accelerate to see how fast it would go. That would be a violation of military orders, the flight manual restrictions, and common sense. I, and most probably all other pilots, never purposely violated any published limits while flying the SR-71.

The SR-71 was point-designed to cruise continuously at Mach 3.2, which is quite an achievement, but it was not intended to have a lot of margin above that speed.

Thomas went on explaining why the SR-71 Blackbird’s throttle was never pushed to the limit, even during the aircraft final flight;
‘There may be a misunderstanding concerning the role of a test pilot. His/her job is to consult with flight test engineers, fly a test mission according to an agreed-upon plan, and terminate a test point when something unpredicted and/or dangerous is found. Land, then determine what to test next.
