Year 2019 is when I first started my daily devotion activity. It was after my Uncle who is a pastor gifted me a bible, I’ve finally decided to grow my relationship with God and to increase my knowledge of Him via reading it. Honestly, I felt ashamed of myself when someone from other religion ask me about the God I’m serving, the religion that I follow and couldn’t give them explanation. I know very little, shy to myself I admit. In lined, if you happen to also want to start your daily devotion, allow me then to share with you my personal routine and the process I follow.

I. LISTEN TO WORSHIP SONGS

- listening to worship songs and sometimes singing along with it at the beginning is a way of setting in my self and to feel the loving presence of the Lord. It helps me ease and calm my mind from other thoughts.

II. READ A CHAPTER OR CHAPTERS OF SCRIPTURES IN THE BIBLE

- A verse, a chapter or more a day, it doesn’t matter as long as you spare your time to read and grow more to God. It would be better if you begin from the first book Genesis and continue through. With this, it will help you to easily understand the events that takes place, the journey of God and of his people, how God help them and touch their lives, chronologically. If you don’t own a bible, you can download the Bible App on the App Store or Playstore. Also, I happen to encounter this phone application that is called “First 5”. It’s a great app for bible studies. Upon opening the app, it will greet you with a quotation which is a preview of the content of the reflection made by the author regarding verses in the Bible. Each day the readings changes. Moreover, this app has it all, it comes with a bible too. The author would usually indicate where the verses came from and you can read them via clicking the text, it will direct you to the Bible. After, the author provide a reflection of his/her from the verses. You can also share your personal reflection and understanding from the readings through the “My moments” feature of this app. I highly recommend “First 5” please check it out.

III. REFLECT FROM THE READINGS

- Reading alone is not enough, reflecting helps you think about what you’ve read, the lessons that comes from it and on how to put it into action and apply it in your life. Via reflecting, realizations will hit you and eventually will change you.

IV. PRAYER

- On your prayer, remember to use the guide ACTS.

A: Adoration - praise and glorify God.

C: Confession - let thy sins be known to God, tell them and humbly ask for forgiveness.

T: Thanksgiving - Thank God for the things He has done

S: Supplication - Say your requests and intentions both for yourself and for others.
