MASSIVE TOTK STORY SPOILERS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Made some quickly colored sketches based on my thoughts and playthrough of totk now that I've reached the end of the main story (in 65 hours over 10 days...)
Explaining in order of appearance and also delivering thoughts opinions and spoilers on most things:
So since Sonia gets got and Rauru self sacrifices, and also Zelda shares a blood connection with them, they had to have had kids by the time Zelda got there. And I imagine she spent alot of time with them, since so much happens in those memories, so I like to think the kids and her got along. And I also image that these kids gotta look wild based on being half Zonia half Hylian. Wild looking halfling children left orphaned by Ganondorf.
Zelda gets saved from dragon form at the end, hoorah, however I think she should have kept some of the more dragon like features. I swear I'm not a furry but I just really like funky character designs. Something something how its become part of her something something I need lore videos on it immediately. Also a little Link mashup outfit (my favorite so far, pairing a horn with normal clothing)
So the sage avatars are like physical beings, hence why enemies can shoot at them and why they vanish when in villages in order to not scare people ig. Which to me implies that when you complete a sage dungeon with other sage avatars out, that actual sage can see them. While this has plentiful comedic potential, I do think Riju would be the only one to actually question it though. Also, I call the avatars "my shadow clone goons" or just goons for short, since they do like all my fighting for me. I sit back and block and they do all the work. Extra shout out to Tulin, I think he's killed more dungeon bosses than I have. I didn't wanna spoil Mineru to people so I just collectively call them my Goon Squad.
I thought it was really sweet how Zelda seems to have gotten a chance at having caring parental figures in Sonia and Rauru. I also think it's funny that the closest equivalent that I think Link has is in Purah. Who, when I got all the memories (and thus knew of the imposter and the fate of Zelda) and got the master sword, Link just straight up didn't share any of this until AFTER he got Mineru. Like. Buddy. All these people are worried about Zelda but you SAW THE MEMORY of Ganondorf using a puppet Zelda, and the memory of Zelda becoming a dragon. Like. He just chooses to keep those to himself until someone else brings it up. Straight up iconic. You keep all your secrets to yourself, little man. But it's funny how Purah literally had a line like "You knew all of this?! When were you gonna tell me?!" Lol
I have a lot of thoughts on this game, both good and bad, about the story, lore, mechanics, ect that I may make a post about eventually. However I do know that I'll probably make art of like every single new character eventually bc I dearly love them all (I especially think Yona has a cute design)! Anyways slay fun game I love it I shall continue to play 9/10

artist quastions
1. Art programs you have but don't use
Probably CSP. It's one of the few software I actually legally bought. But their new monetization policy is just not for me. It's a genuinely good program for artists and I may use it again in the future (especially for the 3D functionality. If that hasn't been priced out yet...). I also have SAI installed. It's fun and runs very smoothly. I should use it more often. I also have krita if i want to do frame by frame animation.
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
I usually flip my canvas often so it's kind of a 50/50. It depends on the character if they're easier to draw facing forward or to the side.
3. What ideas come from when you were little
Man... I honestly don't know. As a kid I wanted to make a pet game (similar to neopets I guess) where you could earn currency and buy stuff and dress up your pet. I still really like pet games and collection games and trinkets. I would love to make a trinket collection game.
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
Industrial landscapes and scenes. Painting a factory or trains or roads being repaired is fun. Until you actually have to do that....
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
It used to be maybe 90/10. Now its probably 40/60. I used to just. Start a painting and always finish it and post it. I didn't really sketch or doodle stuff without finishing it or give up on paintings and discard them.
Now I like doodling and exploring stuff on my own more. I have a ton of files that are just 20000 layers of different sketches. I also discard artworks much more often.
6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously (i.e. this horse wasn't supposed to look like the Last Unicorn but I see it)
I honestly can't tell. People don't compare my work to anything often. I can't tell if it looks like anything...
7. A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate
Traditional art. 3d art. Animation of all kinds. Fibre arts. Sculpture. Film. Writing. Theatre. Music. I mean yeah. All. Art. Very broad very vague answer but it's trueee. I appreciate and am inspired by everything I see
Less broadly... Watercolor painters...
8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in
I am starting to not be interested in anything....... When I was a child I used to have an 'ask blog' of sorts for my characters. I don't really have anything like that anymore :(
9. What are your file name conventions
Gibberish unless it's a commission. Comms get labelled with the customers name.
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
I like drawing the nude figure 💯💯💯. Mmm probably gloves or hi-vis gear. Work clothes. Overalls. Rubber boots. Belts and harnesses.
11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what
Usually music or youtube videos. I often get anxious and scared so I draw with a single song on repeat to keep my mind off it.
12. Easiest part of body to draw
Arms and legs... Probably... Maybe breasts also.
13. A creator who you admire but whose work isn't your thing
I can't tell. If I admire someone's work I consider it to be 'my thing'. I think there's certain people whose work ethic and drive to create I admire while not really being interested in the subject matter.
I admire artists from dA or FA who draw 'weird' things or their gallery is filled with the same thing over and over, or just people who are laser focused on their subject matter of choice. I'm fascinated by 'widely known in narrow circles' type of thing. I love extremely niche communities 👍
14. Any favorite motifs
Industriallllll..... Concrete. Grime. Rust. Metal. Sparks. Pipes. Wires. Blood and gore. Dilapidated and abandoned places. Small places and things not always noticed. Scary and cute things ^_^
15. *Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth)
Usually just at my desk.
16. Something you are good at but don't really have fun doing
This is a hard one.... I usually choose to draw what I enjoy.
I guess rendering if I was forced to render something I don't like?
17. Do you eat/drink when drawing? if so, what
It depends. I drink tea in all circumstances.
18. An estimate of how much art supplies you've broken
As a child I broke a wacom intuos tablet I got as a gift. Still not over it because it was quite expensive. Don't think I broke anything else unless breaking my computer also counts. I broke several laptops as a child...
19. Favorite inanimate objects to draw (food, nature, etc.)
FACTORY 💯💯💯 Nature and plants too but the prize has to go to industrial infrastructure. Even if I'm not good at it.
20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy
Hands 🙌. Animals ? Various textures ?
21. Art styles nothing like your own but you like anyways
I can't list them all 🥲 I love to be inspired by artworks that are nothing like mine. I really admire dynamic and expressive cartoon/simplistic styles. Artstyles well adapted for hand drawn animation are also amazing.
22. What physical exercises do you do before drawing, if any
I need to be actually doing this more. Squats, wall angels and just rotating my joints are my usual go-to. I also like to twist myself but idk if that actually does anything. I like hearing my spine crack 😄
23. Do you use different layer modes
I used to use multiply for shading but I don't anymore. I like using gradient maps and Hue/Lightness/Saturation layer modes. I also tend to just cycle through all layer styles to see if anything looks good. Overlay, darker/lighter color, add are useful on occasion. I try to not rely heavily on layer styles because it quickly turns into me agonizing over 2% opacity changes and shifting colors over and over. Instead of actually painting.
24. Do your references include stock images
Yeah. Sometimes. I just google or go on pinterest to find stuff I need.
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
I can't tell. People don't compare my works to anything.
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
I honestly don't know... Everyone has a different interpretation of any work and I enjoy hearing about people's opinions. I can't really recall a 'wild' interpretation...
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
I try to! It's good practice. Usually it ends up in me hating the first iteration of a painting and re-doing it from scratch. But usually I just draw the pose/composition I want over and over until it looks good enough to proceed.
28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)
Probably. I can't remember though.
29. Media you love, but doesn't inspire you artistically
I have no idea. I think I'm inspired subconsciously by everything I ever experience. It probably doesn't immediately show in my actual artworks but it's there.
30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated
All of them 💯💯💯💯💯
I don't really pay attention to how pieces are received. There's pieces I'm proud of and pieces I'm not. Other people either get it or don't...
@gothglam now its your turn ❗

Hi hi! do you happen to have any favourite watercolor artists/ inspirations? specifically ones that rlly influenced your art style? I've tried searching up keywords like "favorite" etc but tumblr search engine is a little iffy, anyways! i adore your art and seeing your process videos make watercolours look like such a fun process and tbh less daunting than what it seems. Your blog is sending me down a rabbit hole of inks and watercolors and aaa its so fun to find gems on this nonfunctional website
OOOOOOH i dont think ive actually been asked this before!!! ty!!!
the truth is when it comes to watercolor im mostly flying by the seat of my pants 😅 but there are definitely watercolor artists that i love even i do not consciously do studies of their work! i should really study more watercolor artists bc its probably foolish to practice a medium while remaining ignorant of the big names within it.
i hope u find these interesting:
This is one of my favorites, it's called The Meeting on the Turret Stairs by 1864 Frederic William Burton. this is WATERCOLOR. good god. help. if you get really in close you can see how he built it up with delicate different colors. Anyway, the solidness of the bodies, the like...the romance in it all, the way the metal reflects the fabric, the detail in the chainmail and the absolute softness in the background...ough. its good. this is a painting which in all ways knows exactly what its about and executes it perfectly
Tumblr media
and then there's the watercolor sketches of Hayao Miyazaki obvs skgjhdskgh, i like how loose he is and how clear, and how he isnt scared of the white spaces between where colors meet. i know these arent meant to be final products just like. indications of how the animation should be...but they enchant me so much...i want to be able to do watercolor sketches like that!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Albrecht Dürer does a lot of very detailed illustrations in watercolor, he's a weird guy from the 1500s, look how you can tell how the texture of the hare changes from its back to its underbelly. also, unrelated to his watercolor skills, i just like how he signs his work by putting a d beneath a little A arch. His mastery of textures is delightful and his attention and carefulness with detail is admirable
Tumblr media
also i'm gonna mention Akihiro Yamada's watercolor + ink illustrations, specifically for 12 Kingdoms. I haven't spent a lot of my time looking at them but every time i do i find that there's something i want to emulate abt them...something abt the detailed inks and the way he does shadows with watercolor...something abt it rlly speaks to me. i think a lot of my weird shadow experiments are trying to achieve a feeling i get from his work. I think that these are the most like...the most like what I want to do? While also being definitely something other than what I would pursue. Hard to explain. Love to look at them though here's three of them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
also
i would absolutely be remiss if i did not mention one of the people who inspired me to get back into watercolor originally, @marina-does-things and here is an excellent example of their work. Here is another (squid game fanart!) They're SO skilled at watercolor and gouache, and especially at conveying light + shadow, highlights and playing with color...when I think of their artwork I think of the light in it the most, u can really tell just by looking at their work that theyre so comfortable with the medium + have put a lot of effort and work into playing with it and gaining skills, theyre also a skilled digital artist too, all around triple-threat. They also do comics and WATERCOLOR comics at that (here is a link to a post of their excellent 80 page watercolor comic piece based on an episode of the podcast WOLF 359) !!! just an extraordinarily cool and talented artist
anyway, i hope this was useful to you!

My Rant:
I hate this fucking world.
First, there's this one teacher (let's just call her S) that I FUCKING hate. Why?? It's because S is always wants to make our lives pure HELL.
Second, there's this shitty project our teacher (S) gave us that we have to interview an individual who is a professional. And we have to pick a partner and obviously I picked my friend (K). So we decided that we have to interview K's mom.
I went to her house on Tuesday to interview her mom but her mom said we should do it in Wednesday.
Thursday comes and guess what happened???
IT.WAS.FUCKING.DELAYED.
And she insisted we should do it again in Thursday because she didn't understand the questions. And ofc I was angry bc ffs I was motherfucking tired to go to her house everyday (bc her house is pretty far) just for the project.
But I can't blame her since the question are fucking hard to understand.
When Thursday comes, when I came again to her house and *sighs* ofc it didn't happen again bc she wants it to be in Sunday. And of course, of course *rolls eye*
I WAS FUCKING PISSED AF.
I can tell that she is getting pissed at me for going to her house every.single.day. this week but it was not my fucking fault for always delaying you fucking piece of shit.
So k and I are fucking stressed and pissed at her istg I wanna rip her head off and feed it to sharks.
You see, I tried to be nice to her but it seems like she doesn't even like me.
I think that's because she thinks I'm a..... Bad influence to k but little does she knows k is really a bad influence one.
I don't want to admit it but I can't fucking stand her like if she is getting hit by the bus, I would be the driver lol.
We finished interviewing her mom earlier which is I'm really fucking thankful of. But we were legit scared to the point that i'm going to have an anxiety attack tbh. But in the end it was tiring and good I guess???
Third, I hate this family.
I don't even know how to start damn.. It was pretty messed up and complicated.
I don't want to talk about them atm lol
Fourth, fake friend
God, I just wanted him to not go near or breathe because I felt like I was going to catch a disease jk hahahaha. Let's just call him J.
So I have a crush on him before and when he found out, he humiliated me on our class group chat and said "Hey, @/YourName, if you have a crush on me, i will not going to catch you lol". Those words got my hands cold af and I almost cried and ofc I fucking roasted the fuck out of him and unexpectedly, my classmates sides on me.
I described him as a narcissists, smart but always brags about it *rolls eye*, perfectionist (but in a bad way), has a BIG ego, prideful, fake, obsessive and assuming especially to his crush and it kinda gives me creeps xD.
Even his crush hates his guts and ofc we tried to wake him up to reality but unfortunately, he is getting worst.
And yesterday, he posted an art on our squad gc and then saying he "drew it" on his sketch pad and idk my guts is telling me that I should research it to see if it is truly "his" artwork.
And BOOM, k and I found out that the artwork was not truly his and the artwork was actually on deviantart.
And that's the day I lost my trust on him.
K is asking on gc if anyone has a deviantart and J said nope. And ofc the next day, we exposed the fuck out of him on gc but he said it was just a "prank". I mean who believes this kind of bullshit? Wtf???
And that's for today lol. Sorry if there's so many grammatical errors and for being a shitty writer lolol.
I promise to keep y'all updated, sweet dreams bitches!!!
~Rae
