Hello! Sorry to bother you but my friend and I have been arguing about this without finding a definitive answer so we thought maybe the lore master would know. Exos are built as close to real humans as possible like being able to cry, eat and smell etc. BUT do they have tongues? And what about exos like Ada Who doesnt have a mouth? Wouldnt she suffer from a shutdown from not being human enough? Best regards

Not sure about the tongues. Technically they should have them, but it also depends on how the mechanism inside their mouth works so maybe it's not strictly needed. They can clearly speak without lips, so maybe the tongues are also similarly not needed, but I don't think we have a definitive proof. I'm not sure if it's in any way visible on any of the Exo models.

As for Ada, she's built different. Literally. She's a unique Exo, not made by Braytech. She was made with scraps in the middle of the Collapse and we're not sure what was used to make her, but it's clearly really good because she's completely fine without a mouth and also never needed a reset. Strange!

One of the people who worked with Black Armory, Helga Rasmussen, previously worked for Braytech on the Exo project, but then left and joined the Black Armory crew. I don't think she could've taken alkahest with her from Braytech when she left, so we can assume Ada was not made with alkahest. Helga also died before Ada was made. But what was used to make Ada then? No clue.

Highly recommend reading Black Armory Papers lore book though!
