Brief Note to the Community
Hello, y'all! I'm working on a new story that will most likely be longer than I think it will be. After the mostly positive reactions to my first piece, I got inspiration from my own experiences and some of my favorite fics. A few things before I drop it, though: I wrote Lazy Day Cuddles in 2017 while I was in Spain. I wasn't yet enrolled in English literature or language classes, so my writin' was far too metaphoric, and I struggled to make it make sense paragraph by paragraph. However, I didn't use AI. I didn't even know what that meant for writin', as 2017 was the year that actually marked the surge in innovations in the field.
I realize that some people think the waffle method is one of the ways to tell if someone uses AI. Sometimes. For the waffle method, it can also mean addin' unnecessary information to a text to make it longer. Do I use it now, seven years later? Sometimes. In policy briefs, they are designed to be concise and to the point. I mention that because that's what I do for work. Now, if I'm writin' fanfic, yeah. I'll use it if only to add more filler to my story for word count. That wasn't the case in 2017. Additionally, my use of metaphors has drastically reduced. I get it; too many unnecessary and seemingly incomprehensible poetic devices were used. Don't worry; this next series will not.
To the two individuals who said I used AI, I would like to remind you that the ~vibe check~ and software(s) for spotting AI-written content aren't always on point. It doesn’t get the unique flair of someone who’s still finding their groove in writin'. It can flag our fellows' groundbreakin' research papers that have new data and hypotheses than what the current field's literature has simply because of their analytical writin' and use of specialized data. Additionally, it is not uncommon for novice writers to use existin' narratives to gauge audience engagement and response. Though I 'preciate the concern, the snark was not necessary. To the overwhelmingly positive majority, I can't express my gratitude enough 🙏🏼 the tips that people have sent me have already been used in this upcomin' series. I will be postin' Chapter One within the next few days! It will be a reader x Barça Femení centered story.
