New silica-based adsorbent developed for selective separation of radioactive strontium from acidic medium

Prof. Huang Qunying's team from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has developed a novel inorganic silica-based adsorbent for the highly selective separation of strontium from acidic medium. The results were published in Separation and Purification Technology. Radioactive strontium (90Sr) is considered to be one of the most dangerous radionuclides due to its high biochemical toxicity. During the vitrification process of high-level liquid waste, the presence of 90Sr can cause instability of the vitrification substrate, resulting in radionuclide leaching. Removal of 90Sr can reduce the heat generation and shorten the cooling time of the vitrification substrate in the repository, which is favorable for further deep geological disposal of the radioactive waste. To address the above issues, Prof. Huang's team developed a novel silica-based adsorbent Sb2O5/SiO2 by a two-step method, i.e., vacuum impregnation followed by oxidation, and investigated the adsorption behavior of the adsorbent on strontium stable nuclide in low and high acid mediums (i.e., pH 6 and 1 M HNO3).

Novel silica-based adsorbent helps selective separation of strontium

Prof. Huang Qunying's team from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with Prof. Ning Shunyan's team from South China University, developed a novel silica-based adsorbent for the highly selective separation of strontium (Sr) from an acidic medium. The results were published in the Journal of Hazardous Materials. Radioactive strontium, known as 90Sr, is of concern because it's highly toxic both radiologically and biochemically. When high-level liquid waste (HLLW) is processed through vitrification, the heat released from the decay of 90Sr can cause problems. This heat can destabilize the material in which it's contained, potentially leading to the release of other radioactive substances. However, 90Sr can also be reused as a special radioactive or heat source, which can help reduce the amount of waste to be disposed of with lower overall costs.

Okay I've come up with basic outlines for my sf's, I don't even know if I can call them short films lmao. I always like to come up with what it's ment to explore as well: Freemind one will be a sequal to my memories vid. As well as exploring missing memories that still affect and seep into your every day life. My only worry with exploring this one is that I don't want it to come off as I'm cosplaying Wayne. I want to play with the idea that yes HLVRAI was just a video game, that Gorodn doesn't remember playing (Supernatural stuff, he was sucked into the game, it's cliche idc) But I also don't want to cross that line from Gordon as an everyday streamer and Wayne who brought this story to us. I think I can get it to work by keeping Gordon's characteristics the same <From the cut and edited version>. But then you can get itno the arguement that there's no difference even though imo there is. For the cut version at least. LOOK! It's complicated and stresses me out cause I over think.
