Ship it!

What made me ship it was the DemonBae AU I found on tumblr and to this day it is still my favourite Pinescone AU out there <3 My favourite thing about the ship is how versatile they are. I write them mostly as adults and in the time between then and the shows themselves, a thousand things could have happened that can easily cast them in different circumstances. It's why my Meet Weirds will always be so fun to write! My unpopular opinions on the ship are: Dipper Pines can cook. You cannot convince me otherwise. That boy knows his way around food and the food he makes tastes good. Period. And also Wirt knows how technology works a normal amount. Like he's not going to stare at a smartphone unaware of how it works, he just thinks older technology is interesting, and he's right in that.

what, if anything, do you ship?

My ur-ship--the fundamental basis upon which all (or most) other ships are predicated, the T-O-P of the O-T-Ps, my cup of tea and the teapot, too--is cute and nerdy dork boy with a cute and nerdy dork boy.

ParaPines (Dipper Pines of "Gravity Falls" and Norman Babcock of "ParaNorman") is the prime example, but so is PinesCone (Dipper with Wirt from "Over the Garden Wall"). Another is Ryan Akagi with Min-Gi Park from season 4 of "Infinity Train". And so are SamFro (Samwise Gamgee and Frodo Baggins from "Lord of the Rings") and JohnLock (Dr John Watson and Sherlock Holmes from Arthur Conan Doyle's detective series). So, obviously, saying "boy" doesn't rule out adult men, provided they are nerdy dorks and cute together.

do you have any preferred ships in gravity falls? which ones, if so?

Okay so this will sound like a cop-out but my #1 preferred “ship” in Gravity Falls is the platonic family/found-family relationships -- the Pines (all together and in their various permutations), and also adding in what I think of as their larger circle of found-family (Wendy, Soos, Fiddleford).  I just love them all.

But in terms of romantic ships -- I do like Fiddauthor, I think it’s cute.  And I like Stanchez, I think it’s hilarious.   I’m not averse to giving works for less-common ships a shot (like Fiddlestan, there’s some cute stuff for that too; and there’s been some takes on Starla that I’ve liked).  I’m more focused on the adults than the kids, so I don’t have strong opinions or preferences re. the various chaste kid ships (Mabcifica, Dipcifica, Pinescone, etc.); they’re fine.  (I think Evaroze is doing some fun stuff with adult Dipcifica.)   I guess I think it goes without saying that I enjoy the canon ships as well -- like Soos and Melody, or Blubs and Durland; and I consider Manly Dan / Tyler Cutebiker to be canon.

I’m also very supportive of people doing OC and self-insert ships, and over time I’ve gotten invested in a number of them (for example: Icefeels’ One Sword Ford/Ripley; thelastspeecher’s Stan/Angie McGucket; Siro-cyll’s Ford/Orion; Lemonfodrizzlecake’s Stan/Jackie; Hunter/Scipunk’s Ford/Addi; and also a number of OCs created to be Mrs. McGucket).

Speaking personally, I most think of Ford as aroace; and Stan as bi (though I can’t decide if I think he’s aro or not).  And I enjoy the way a lot of folks also incorporate aro and ace headcanons for Ford into ships.  But my own headcanons don’t prevent me from enjoying work by others with different takes on the characters (such as Ford being gay, or Ford being bi or het, and the same with Stan).  The work I tend to produce of my own is platonic family stuff, but I’ve done a number of ship pieces as gifts for various people.

I always, always tag ships in any reblogs or posts, so that folks trying to avoid one or another can do so.

It’s the spooky season, which means it’s Over the Garden Wall season! I’m here to draw your attention to my OTGW/Gravity Falls crossover fics so that you might read and enjoy them during this autumn!

The Beast in the Woods - A fairy tale AU where a young boy named Dipper happens upon an older lad named Wirt in the woods, only to find that the older lad carries a dark secret.

I Remember - A Pinescone fic that I quietly consider my magnum opus because it took me 6 months to complete. After many years apart, Dipper and Wirt find each other again as adults and navigate through their old feelings for each other while dealing with the daily grind of adulthood. It’s a story told through two different narrators about understanding adult love and the difficulty of cultivating relationships as an adult.

To that person who asked on my pinescone art (btw why are you all scared of sending me asks instead of commenting on stuff?) why I ship children and heavily implied that it was “wrong”, it literally takes one click and maybe 30 seconds of reading to find out me and my friend, who is the author of the fic, ship them as teenagers like… idk man I am not @ you because why create drama, but seriously, 1 minute top. (Also what does it matter to you if someone ships them when they are kids??? Like love is not an adult thing, kids have people they like, seriously, Chill out man)
