Day Two

Sunday December 2, 2012

Tina was at the slumber party in PA. Tina lives out past Long Island.

It was serendiptious that she was in town and able to drive me to my new temporary home in Manhattan.  I didn't have to attempt to navigate a bus or a train with 3 suitcases and a kitty cat.

There were tears as I hugged my parents goodbye, I've been staying in a spare room at their house for the past 4 months while in the Philly area for a Tour Managing gig.

My brother and nephew also stopped by for goodbye hugs.

And then me, my Kitty, and all of my luggage piled into Tina's SUV with her 6yr old twins, who were happy to have the kitty in his carrier in the back seat with them. Poor kitty, couldnt have possibly enjoyed the Chipmunk movie blasting in his ears, but he was quiet and calm, and just happy that wherever we were going, we were going together.

I arrived at my new place around 2pm.

My new place is a 3-Bedroom that my friend Tanya has been renting a room at for a few years now. She has a male roommate who has been in this apt for about 15years or so.  I have visited and spent a night or two here multiple times over the past few years, as well as other areas and other friends in NY, but I have never actually rented a room and unpacked my stuff.

My friend Tanya, wasn't going to be home for awhile that day, so luckily her roommate was home and let me in.

I didn't waste a second.  I assessed what I was going to need to purchase, and went straight across the block to the 99cent store to purchase hangers, light bulbs, shampoo, and other various neccessties.  This 99cent store by the way, had nothing under $2.99 in the entire store. #FalseAdvertising

Once home, I jumped right into unpacking.  No time to sit around and be sad, this is an exciting time.  Yes, I'm on my own again, in a new city, not knowing where my next paying gig was going to come from, but might as well jump in full force!

I unpacked everything, making myself and kitty cozy, and then treated myself to a manicure/pedicure at the Nail Salon also across the street.

If you've never been to New York... it's true, the town is open 24/7 and if you can't find what you're looking for on one block, it's most likely on the next block. There most be at least 10 nail salons, and 5 yoga studios in a mile radius.

I love that.

My friend Tanya, has a female chihuaha named Tia. Tia likes me enough, but for whatever reason, whether it be dominance, jealousy, or playfullness, Tia has decided that she her new favorite place is in my room, on my bed.

Keifer aint so happy about this.. but I'm sure he'll warm up to her eventually.

The preserve, owned by the Central New York Land Trust has something that no other destination we have found does, three large waterfalls that can be viewed all in a line across the top part of the Onondaga Escarpment. It is not something you see every day and it makes this hidden gem an absolute treasure.
