The more you had, the more you stood to lose.

Aventurine lived his life holding onto this one fact.

“--vasha…”

So why… why did he ever aspire to gain more than he could handle to lose.

“Sir, you need to leave the room we need to stabilize her,” the nurses ushered him out of the room. The cold white lights of the hospital room made his head spin. The smell of sanitizer burned his airways. Everything was happening all at once and there was nothing he could do. He was about to crash out. He was about to lose it all.

From there it was a blur. It wasn’t until he felt a hand touch his shoulder that he even realized he’d been standing staring down at this… glass box for an hour. His neck strained but he couldn’t take his eyes off of it.

“He looks just like you,” Topaz said, joining her colleague, staring down at the small infant encased safely in the clear incubator. All sorts of things were attached to the steadily breathing Avgin child, monitoring… waiting. Just as he imagined you were at the moment. Hooked up to a hundred machines as the nurses and doctors worked to try to keep your brain alive and your heart pumping.

“I’ve… not even been able to hold him yet,” Aventurine said quietly. It was wrong. It was wrong to acknowledge his son’s existence. It was almost as if the second he did, he would lose you. A sick gamble.

Topaz broke her gaze and instead looked to Aventurine. “She’s going to be okay you know. These are the best doctors that the galaxy has to offer—”

She shut up when Aventurine had nothing to offer her except for a dejected look. After watching over the young Avgin in silence for a few more minutes, Topaz left with a simple pat on the father’s back, and left him to his thoughts.

Outside, rain poured in heavy sheets of water.

Finally, Aventurine sat down next to his newborn child and finally swaddled the child into his arms, closing his eyes as tears began to build up in them, “Welcome to this cruel world… Ilyas.”

When he opened his eyes again, an identical pair stared back in wonder.

Kinda just rambling tbh. Angst. Gn! Reader, reader is referred to as ‘you’ cw: toxic realationships, unhealthy coping mechanisms, hinting at alcohol abuse. I think thats all but lemme know if I missed something.

Okay first up -> This man is an instigator. While he’s not looking for a big fight with you, he does love going back and forth with you. Try not to take it too seriously, he just sees it as being playful. He unfortunately takes it too far sometimes and things get serious. I personally hc him as someone with trust and abandonment issues. And often times when things get real you can tell he has these issues. At least once a month you guys get in an argument because he thinks you’re leaving him for someone else. Even if you’re just talking to a childhood friend he’s gonna get overly jealous. He’ll try and pull his shit together if he genuinely thinks you’re gonna leave him. But he’s still gonna struggle hardcore. You gotta be patient with him. Maybe invest in some therapy too. He’ll try to make it up to you after arguments; mostly by buying you gifts, making dinner, and such.

But if you do end up following through with the breakup then he’ll let you go. He’ll try and convince you to stay, but you’re set on leaving and he respects you enough to let you leave. After the breakup he gambles and drinks more than usual. On his particularly lonely nights you might get a call or text at 3am asking “how have you been?” The next morning he forgets that it ever happened, but you know by the end of the month he’ll do it again. If you want to truly move on it’s better to just block him, because he will hit you up monthly to drunkenly check up on you. The first few weeks after the breakup he constantly ‘saw’ you or at least he thought her did. Even after years he could still pick you out in a crowd. He’ll never forget you. You may not be his anymore but you’ll always have his heart.

So, it sounds like a lot of people are suddenly treating Adventurine as precious child that would never do anything wrong and needs to be protected. Don't get me wrong, he is made much more sympathetic after 2.1, but I think people are forgetting what Adventurine's actual goal is. He's not challenging Sunday and the family out of altruism, he's acting on behalf of the IPC, which is trying to take control of Penacony. I just think people should remember that, and not be surprised if he turns back around to being a dick later in the plot.

Well..! So you were caught by death at an unexpected moment, but..

Not a single person in Penacony knew you were gone?

Your body feeling heavy and your vision becoming blurry, you held tightly onto the last string of consciousness you had left, thinking about the person you cared the most..

Firefly had offered to take you around the plaza to play different games, try different pastries, watch the beautiful scenery from her secret hideout until by each other's side like a little 'date'..

Oh, how she eagerly waits for you as people come and go by her with the happy feelings she hopes to share with you, not even knowing you're gone.

Adventurine had made a bet with you, and the loser of the game has to take the other to an expensive, and luxurious restaurant. He joked that it would be a romantic moment between the two of you and watched as you brushed him off and accepted the deal.

Oh, how disappointed he felt when he never received a single message, thinking that you had backed out without telling him as he walked away from your meeting spot, unaware that you're even gone.

Misha had accepted your offer of helping around the Reverie out of sympathy, you watched as his expression turned from a confused to a happy, and appreciative one. He felt grateful that you would keep him company and have time to catch up.

Oh, how deeply sad he felt as he never saw you walk through the hotel entrance, thinking you had abandoned your promise. He'd overthink that you were gone.

Robin had given you a free ticket to her next concert, giving you a sweet smile and telling you to keep it a secret from her fans, to which you gave into and accepted the invitation. She gave you a hug before parting ways to get ready and make herself presentable mostly for you.

Oh, how hurt she felt when she was unable to find you within the crowd, quickly scurrying down after her performance to ask her fans, her staff members, and even her brother for your whereabouts. How heartbroken she'd be to find out you were gone.

And oh, how you wished that you could have seen them for one last time with tears in your eyes, as you apologize that you two may not meet ever again.
