Dec 5 Rain “nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands” (e. e. cummings) This closing line has sat with me like no poem nor play nor prose has ever crept into my thoughts. While cummings was writing of romantic love, isn’t that what we all want from a spiritual experience? A love, a peace, a wholeness that soaks even more deeply into our skin and souls than the rain that pours down relentlessly? The rain that could be so powerful to make seeds change to trees and then the floods that uproot and destroy and pound new seed and new life would also be so gentle. What would that love look and feel like? How would we receive it? Atill trying to get caught up with my #AdventWord but this catchup post is bright and early. The makeup word is #Time, a subject covered in #music, #sciencefiction, #videogames ...but when I think of Time, I think of the company I keep. [ AdventWord | Day 2: Journey ]

[ ((Thinking on today's word, I pictured Riley on a journey through the Secret Forest to exit at her sacred space: a valley she refers to as the Middle of Nowhere. The Forest itself is dark, and the path is hers alone; only she knows the route to take to get to where she needs to be.

For me, Advent is kind of the same way. A journey, and one that is for each of us to take--if we so choose to. For each person, their journey is unique and all their own. The end of the journey, Christmas morning, is one of light and with promises as vast as the stars in the sky when Riley in the Middle of Nowhere at night looks up.

A journey from the darkness of the world into the light of the presence of the Newborn King... that, to me, is what Advent is all about.)) ]
