Note
How come the SR-71 was retired and there isn't a replacement for it, but the U2 is still in use with the Air Force?
It was just too darn expensive to fly. When it was retired, the Soviet Union was largely crumbling and posed little threat to high-altitude recon, so no foe really warranted the incredibly high performance. To fly the SR-71 to the Middle East from England would need multiple support aircraft, which means a very high budget. The U-2 does recon far more economically.
A pity too. The SR-71 is an absolutely baller aircraft.
Thanks for the question, Dark.

Flugtag competition at ESMA
Tumblr media
It is a tradition in my school to hold a glider competition inspired by the redbull flugtag competition, based on the knowledge acquired about aircraft design and aerodynamics, for which each group made a model airplane with a free theme.
My group designed a shark theme, so our plane would be just like a shark, we designed the plans for a glider and gave it details so that it resembles a shark, in terms of technical level we saw the weight, balance, dimensions, materials that are light as balsa wood and to decorate monocoque paper.
Tumblr media
The day of the competition we had to present a dance according to the theme, so we did a synchronized swimming dance and then we launched our plane from the top of a bleacher. In the end, our group managed to win the competition since it flew more than 50 meters, surpassing the rest of the planes.
It was very interesting for me to see how an aircraft works and how it is capable of sustaining itself in the air, it was also fun to build it and give it a little more emotion with the dance.

Aeronautical Engineering vs Aerospace Engineering
Aeronautical Engineering vs Aerospace Engineering
Aeronautical engineering and aerospace engineering are two closely related fields of engineering that focus on the design, development, and construction of aircraft and spacecraft. However, there are some key differences between the two fields. #Aerospace #Aeronautics #Engineering
Aeronautical engineering is the study of aircraft that operate within the Earth’s atmosphere. This includes airplanes, helicopters, gliders, and drones. Aeronautical engineers design, develop, and test aircraft to ensure that they are safe and efficient. They also work on new technologies to improve the performance of aircraft. #Aeronautics #Aviation #Aircraft Aerospace engineering is a broader field that encompasses aeronautical engineering as well as the study of spacecraft. Aerospace engineers design, develop, and test spacecraft, such as satellites, rockets, and space shuttles. They also work on new technologies to improve the performance of spacecraft and to make space exploration more feasible.
Which One is Right for You?
The best way to decide whether aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering is right for you is to consider your interests and goals. If you are passionate about aircraft and want to work on designing and developing new aircraft technologies, then aeronautical engineering may be a good fit for you. If you are interested in both aircraft and spacecraft and want to work on cutting-edge technologies to advance space exploration, then aerospace engineering may be a better choice.
Education and Career Opportunities
Both aeronautical engineering and aerospace engineering are typically five-year undergraduate programs. Students in these programs learn about the principles of aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, propulsion systems, and aircraft design. They also take courses in mathematics, physics, and engineering science.
After graduation, aeronautical engineers and aerospace engineers can find jobs in a variety of industries, including the aviation industry, the defense industry, and the space industry. They may work for aircraft manufacturers, government agencies, or research laboratories.
Ethical Counseling
At Envoy Overseas, we are committed to ethical counseling and helping students choose the right career path for them. We understand that the decision of whether to pursue aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering is a big one, and we are here to help you make the best decision for your future.
Additional Information
Here are some additional things to consider when choosing between aeronautical engineering and aerospace engineering:
● Job outlook: The job outlook for both aeronautical engineers and aerospace engineers is good. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment of aerospace engineers is expected to grow 8% from 2020 to 2030, much faster than the average for all occupations.
● Salary: The median annual salary for aerospace engineers was $110,200 in May 2021. The median annual salary for aeronautical engineers was $109,540 in May 2021.
● Work environment: Aeronautical engineers and aerospace engineers typically work in office settings. However, they may also travel to test sites or to meet with clients.
Conclusion
Aeronautical engineering and aerospace engineering are both exciting and rewarding fields of engineering. If you are passionate about aircraft and spacecraft and want to make a real difference in the world, then either of these fields could be a great fit for you.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions about aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering, please contact Envoy Overseas.
