April. My friends threw me a surprise party for my birthday and it was the sweetest, most delightful day!

17. top 5 children’s books?

hmmm depends on exactly the definition of children's books? like YA or like actual children's books? but it would probably be something like this:

1 the hunger games (obvi) 2 anne of green gables 3 howl's moving castle 4 ella enchanted 5 a book called "ingo" that i was beyond obsessed with as a child... honestly i haven't read it in years so i have no idea if it holds up but it was absolutely one of my favorite books as a kid

20. what are things you look for in a book?

engaging prose. honestly i have read so many books with mediocre writing (whether that's cliche phrases, clunky dialogue, overly purple prose, or literally just anything that makes the actual words like,,, bad) and in my opinion, good and engaging prose can save a mediocre plot, but a good plot can't save bad prose. like if the prose is noticeably bad then i'm probably not going to like the book no matter how interesting the premise is

Are you named after anyone? Chloë Sevigny. I wish.

When was the last time you cried? Ah, gawd. I cry all the time. Mostly with laughter. But I did shed a tear at my best friend’s 30th birthday party a few weeks ago. Right after her parents took to the stage to tell her how much they love her. 

Do you have kids? No. 

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Erm sometimes? I’d say I prefer a good pun. 

What is the first thing you notice about people? What they’re wearing. 

What color are your eyes? Brown. 

Scary movies or happy endings? Scary movies. 

Any special talents? I can do a handstand into a crab (although @merman-legs knows this can go horribly wrong after too much wine.) I can play the guitar. 

Where were you born? London.

What are your hobbies? Reading. Writing. Museums. Long, rambling walks. Pub quizzes.  

Do you have any pets? Yes. A little black and white cat called Cosmo. 

What sports do you play/have you played? Never really been a sporty person. But at school, I gave everything a go.

any thoughts on the shadow and bone netflix adaptation?

bruh I’m like a feral animal every time I think about it like all the pictures and stuff look so cool but there’s a LOT being changed and it’s been described as a high-budget fanfic and I just… hmm… not sure if I trust it tbh

I really wish it had just been a straight-up adaption like how Netflix did A Series of Unfortunate Events, like honest to god that’s the BEST book-to-screen adaption I’ve ever seen and if Netflix had done that with the Shadow and Bone trilogy I would honest to god go ham sandwich. just absolutely bonkers

Introducing Luci!! Worlds most ?? Dad!

“You came home!” The stranger crowed. “I knew you would eventually.” The light from the fires cast an unhealthy tinge to his skin as dark blue eyes scanned the four of them. The unease of the whole situation was completely offset by the genuine cheer in his voice. 

“Hi, Dad,” Cadoc said quietly. He eased between the rest of the group and Lucifer. As he did he handed the girls off to Barry. “I had some things to take care of. I still do, but we needed a place to crash without worrying about angels breathing down our neck.”

“So you brought one home?” Lucifer’s smile never faltered. 

“Barachiel is a special case. And he-”

“You don’t have to explain your boyfriends away, Cada, I promised you from the beginning I’d never judge.” Lucifer reached out as if to pat Cadoc’s shoulder, and then thought better of it, instead switching his pitch black gaze on Alice instead. “What’s this?” He rocked back on his heels. “Is that my little Aalis?” He stepped forward. The grace and power in his movements were a sharp contrast to his easygoing tone. His dark eyes narrowed. Had they been black before? They looked brown now. “This is new,” he murmured, that smile never leaving his face. He lifted a hand, and then paused. “May I?”

Alice wasn't sure what he was asking, but Aalis gave a nod. He tilted her chin up with a finger, shifting a step closer. For a moment, the fires flared, brightening the room. What had she been thinking? His eyes weren't brown. They were green. A brilliant jade color.

“Fascinating.” He backed away and tucked a lock of blonde hair behind his ear. Alice had to admit, she found him fascinating too. As fascinating as one might find a predator they'd never seen before. He turned his attention to Cadoc, thankfully. “I need to speak to you.”

“I'll explain later,” Cadoc promised. “But it’s been a long week, I’ve barely slept, and Alice is being held together with duct tape.”

“Alice.” The word wasn't a question as Lucifer swung his hazel gaze over to Alice.
