okay i feel like you knew this was coming but. the last kingdom.
omg i am SO SORRY IN ADVANCE, also i have really only started the osmosis process a few months ago because so many of my rop mutuals seem to be into tlk. it's set in ... i wanna say 7th or 8th century England, but please do not burn me at the stake if I'm multiple centuries off. girl help my historical specialty is like, bronze and iron age greece, i'm probably way off here. i think it's based off novels by that Bernard guy??? what else has he written? i think I tried reading one of his books in high school and was bored to tears. oops.
the fandom generally seems to dislike the protagonist uhtred, who might be a fail white man and is also possibly a mary sue, either way he's surrounded by better characters. everyone seems to love aethelflaed, who is very beautiful, maybe i do have an osmosis crush on her. there are a lot of confusing names on this show so i admit i googled her name because i ALMOST called her aethelred but that's a man who is apparently a king (is that her father???) and i blame ur username for throwing me off on that one. idk there are a lot of characters here to deal with!!!!! too many ae- names i think!!!
i am aware of the queen/knight dynamics between aethelflaed and the guy with a terrible haircut. al something. i am so sorry but i will not sully this response with a 2nd google. they have a cool dynamic but never are actually lovers onscreen and i agree with kat that actually consummating the relationship would be worse than the sexy fucked up devotion/loyalty/fealty thing they have going on. anyway the scene i am most aware of (because of kat) is that they're heading into battle and their odds are bleak and she orders him to kill her in case she gets captured but the moment comes and he can't do it!!!! now THAT'S devotion!
uhh there is also apparently a small and niche but very passionate group of ot3 shippers with the two of them and some other guy, possibly a king of some sort? @aadmelioraa and @wildwren have definitely explained it to me before and i gotta admit i'm into the dynamic. there's also a cool looking ... priestess... pagan... lady... named skald? skyld? skuld? sk-something i am SO SORRY FOR BUTCHERING THIS anyway she's been in a lot of gifsets lately but i think she dies?? i think someone said RIP in one of those gifsets?? i Really truly do not know any more about her but imho she's hot
umm okay coming up on the end of my knowledge but Brida is the brunette who's very pretty and might be in a relationship with Uhtred but I think she dies...??? the show ended after season 5 but there's a movie called seven kings must die coming out and i did see the trailer for that but given that i clearly do not know very much about this show i was very confused about what was going on <3

for the fandom osmosis thing, Succession?
ooooh that’s a good one!! so afaik it’s about a very rich american family that run a business? they don’t get along very well. they especially hate the skinny one, kendall? i know one of my long time internet pals head canons him as bpd, so he’s definitely not in a great mental state. think there might have been a suicide attempt.
i think there’s also a mediocre white man with brown hair who sleeps around, a woman with a cool (orangey?) bob haircut whose name i’d recognise but can’t recall, and a very old man. that’s all i know 😭

🔥 war and peace
my spicy wap opinions (oh ew why did i type that) are that people who run book clubs (me) should make sure that they actually read the assigned pages so they can accurately facilitate discussion and i am still on book 1 part 2 :(
my actual unpopular opinions seem to be 1) i don't want dolokhov to die in a fire, which of course, may change as i actually catch up and 2) that yeah i understand that the book was serialized originally but having like 10 short chapters dedicated to one (1) dinner party is so annoying to read in this format like wow gee i wonder where we're gonna be in today's chapter and the answer is STILL AT ANNETTE'S PARTY. it's really killing the momentum for me personally. like, you know what i enjoy about dostoevsky? chapters are self-contained and people aren't speaking french all the time!!!!!!

Fuck, Marry, Kill David Oakes edition: George Plantagenet, Juan Borgia, and Earl Godwin?
GOD okay. okay. hm. It's time for some painful decisions here.
Fuck George Plantagenet because frankly The White Queen came out at the peak of my original crush on David Oakes and he was looking very sexy and medieval. And he's just the perfectly cringe amount of pathetic, scheming, girlbossing too close to the sun failure to keep me invested.
Marry Earl Godwin because while I haven't watched Vikings: Valhalla I do keep well apprised through the tumblr dash and he looks exceptionally DILFy and from what I gather seems less evil and murderous and vile than your average David Oakes historical drama character (which admittedly removes some of the spice. But I'm looking for a husband here.)
Kill Juan Borgia because Juan sweetie I am so sorry, I am SO sorry but no man in The Borgias was spared from the truly awful wigs and they were so, so unflattering. Also the fact he's a terrible person in so many ways. And that he has syphillis. But frankly I would be willing to overlook a lot of that if he had better hair. Anyway. Yeet into the tiber.

eadflaedhelm or aldredflaed 😈
I CANT BELIEVE YOU DID THIS TO ME MEG
ughhhhhhh this is so hard.......like, eadflaedhelm is so good and angsty and tender and aldredflaed is perfectly toxic and fucked up, while also being occasionally angsty and possibly tender in a really weird way...but mostly toxic...which I love....how can i choose???? i guess aldredflaed bc i do think i have written more of that, and i'm nostalgic for earlier seasons of the show...but i am NOT happy you made me choose.
but this is just making me want to write toxic!eadflaedhelm tbh

Different takes on how Elizabeth is shown dealing with her father’s death/dying. THE TUDORS // BECOMING ELIZABETH As a parent, Henry had one thing going for him (besides being there, alive) - his royalty. It was his name (not her mother’s unless you count her pride in her ‘most English” descent) that the adult Elizabeth would invoke frequently...[But] for the first half of the period - hardly more than a decade in all - that passed between Anne’s death and that of Henry himself, Elizabeth’s father was effectively an absentee from her life. (Sarah Gristwood, Elizabeth & Leicester)
In The Tudors, Elizabeth walks away from her last meeting with her father first without a second glance and as the audience we can sympathize, not only with her, but with Mary (who remains and cries moments after Henry exits), because of all the emotional trauma their father and his government have put them through. However, Becoming Elizabeth depicts Elizabeth as angry that the wheels of government do not stop to mourn her father, which is a choice the writers could make without turning heads, because the audience does not see her early upbringing and her mother’s fall so we don’t have the same emotional buildup as The Tudors. However, I think that both of these depictions together make up how Elizabeth felt and acted. Elizabeth was always aware that she walked a thin line being so close to the throne (even as a legally declared illegitimate child of the king). Her private feelings, unlike those of her sister Mary’s, were frequently masked as habit of pure survival. Therefore, putting on a sincere face of grief no matter how mixed her feelings were towards her father might not have been natural, but expected by the new regime and watched by those around her.

Redeem yourself.
where does the name Bluetooth come from
There is no redemption for me.
The modern technology "Bluetooth" is named after Harald Bluetooth , the 10th Century Danish king who first developed short-range radio broadcast technology. King Harald was notorious for AirDropping funny pictures of cats to his royal court, as well as memes mocking King Æthelred of England, who never had his phone on and missed out, hence his name to this day, Æthelred the Oft-Offline:

thoughts on your favorite art piece/art movement?
my favourite piece of art is van gogh's starry night over the rhône! mostly just because it brings me great peace to look at, but also because you can really see how van gogh was a colour-focused painter. the contrast of the stars with the (relatively) new gas lamps! the fact that i only just noticed the pair of lovers in the foreground because i'm always too concerned with the sky! the texture of the reflections on the water!
