💚 notes:

Charis is The Bird. Specifically, she is The Phoenix reborn from the ashes of grief, pain, and loneliness. She’s stronger today, and she’ll be even stronger tomorrow, no matter the other losses she’ll have to face

I’ve always imagined her ultimate technique in battle to be phoenix-based—a mix of the fire from her father’s flame sword and bird symbolism (and the Askr family name, meaning “ash”)

I was asked about Charis’ statue before, and I can say now that it would be inspired by this signature technique of hers! The statue would be posed like Ephemer’s, Keyblade raised to the sky. But it’d also have a mechanic that allows flames to continuously blast from her back, resembling wings. Ephemer’s statue is themed around water, and hers is themed around fire!

This is meant to parallel/bookend Part I of the series. And I suppose you can also consider this thematically similar to this piece. We love healing in this household…🥹

The Bird series is my tribute to Charis. Listening to the song and exploring her grief through these intuitive drawings has been really cathartic for me. I hope they can also help somebody else someday, in one way or another 💚

I have completed Toby’s deductions and I’m ready to make Will’s I’m just a procrastinator, Agapios is umm I’m still working on his story tbh he’s not ready for deductions

Toby was my first idv oc, went thru a lot of changes, I have all of their abilities mostly planned out but I’m too lazy to type em up and it would take a lot of space.

#squad:  who's friends with who? what are the squad dynamics like?

Johnnie: Mom friend but also “let’s go fuck shit up”, confides in Edwin, brings everyone back when shit gets too out of hand

Rita: “do you guys wanna see how many shots i can take?” ‘no’ “oh man this is wild!! I can’t believe you’re making me do this!!”, Will die for Lucy and just about anyone in the maf, may or may not like Agapios who knows Agapios doesn’t and everyone is kind of annoyed about it

Lucy: everyone has had a crush on her at least once, has a Thing with Johnnie but no one is allowed to talk about it, loves when her and Kaden get to do makeup bc then she gets to “treat herself” although she’s constantly treating herself

Kaden: Agapios and Kaden hate each other lmao but they keep it on the downlow bc it’s bad for business, Kaden loves Edwin sm, Rita and Kaden keep each other updated on latest news bc they love to gossip, Lucy and Kaden enjoy doing each others makeup it’s good n pure 

Edwin: Kaden n Edwin are significant others, while agapios and edwin are like...bros, but to a more actual brother extent (they argue a lot tbh), him and Johnnie talk a lot about their pasts and how to deal with their own problems, he goes out drinking a lot with Rita and Lucy they’re the true squad here

Agapios: Bros w Edwin, lowkey likes Rita but isn’t saying shit bc he’s weak, has high respect for Johnnie and is basically her right hand man when it comes to things, him and Lucy are p good pals (they both are very vain)

Diamond: she feels really awkward around everyone, she can trust Edwin and talks to him about everything (similar to Johnnie), she’s scared around Agapios until she realizes that he’s just as terrified of everything happening in their lives as she is, her and Lucy get along fairly well, her and Rita are kind of meh? But Diamond hopes to warm up to her soon

wardrobe:  what's your OC(s) style like?

Johnnie: Suits!! Lots of suits, her casual wear consists of jeans and flowy tops and a pair of sneakers (mom wear...) 

Rita: Dresses! Old 50′s style dresses all the time she’s so glad they never truly went out of style 

Lucy: The most expensive clothes she can get her hands on, she has so many name brand purses and clothes whose designer names half of the crew can’t even pronounce 

Kaden: tbh they mostly look kind of homeless, hoodies, jeans, converse, but also very 90′s style some days when they do wanna try 

Edwin: he wears ur granddads clothes...he looks incredible...

Agapios: Homeless but everyday, he knows he looks good without trying and it’s unfair 

Diamond: 90s all the way, and her paperboy hat and her hair always natural and wonderful

lightning:  who's the most impulsive character? and who is their impulse control?

Most impulsive would be?? Lucy or Kaden and their impulse controls are Johnnie and Edwin

poison:  vices/bad habits? what are they? how do they affect your OC?

Johnnie: she has the issue of overworking, she’s constantly afraid of running out of time, she’s always stressed or somewhat angry bc of it 

Rita/Agapios: Drinkers. Rita gets super ditzy when she drinks and doesn’t take anything seriously but once she’s without it she’s an absolute wreck, Agapios on the other hand goes quiet due to alcohol not really effecting him enough anymore 

Lucy: Drugs, any kind of drugs, ecstasy, cocaine, pot, as long as it doesn’t come with a needle she’ll do it. She’s constantly shaky without a fix and it doesn’t help when it comes to being undercover

Kaden: a party animal which wouldn’t be too bad if it weren’t for the fact that they were gone 24/7

Edwin: the only one that held out...He has the usual biting his nails, chewing on the inside of his cheek, he does a lot of damage control when everyone else heads home

Diamond: also damage control, she still feels like she’s too young to really start thinking about drugs

Overmorrow is over…I want to give a huge, HUGE thank you to everyone who read it. Your support and love always means the world to me, especially for this project I hold particularly near and dear to my heart both for fandom enrichment purposes (khml, I’m waiting for you, honey 😭) and on a personal level.

I put more of my soul into this fic than I was originally planning to. I went to places I didn’t even know I could go to as a writer and an artist. I learned so much!! Not just about Eph as a character, but about kh in general. About grief and hope, and unconditional love and strength. About how focused and dedicated I can actually get to forge a story out of love and passion. And so much more!

But I couldn’t have done all this without the reassurance that there’d be kind people willing to dedicate time to what I had to put out into the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You’ve made this such a fun, meaningful ride for me!

I kept this simple both as a callback to pt. 2 and bc that was the limit of my artistic abilities tonight uwu

In the oc file, I talk about the big void left behind by Agapios’ passing. There’s Charis’ pain, a child losing his father, but there’s also Xenia’s pain, a wife losing her husband, and Fidel’s pain, a tired helper and family man losing the prospects of a brighter future

The sad reality is that in their sorrows, they weren’t always able to be the parental figures Charis needed at the time. More often than not, Charis was the one who found the strength to keep things together, to keep their hopes and dreams alive

now for the symbolism~

Charis’ light(/hope/resilience) resonates with the light of his past (Agapios) and the light of his future (Ephemer), shining even in the deep darkness of grief that blankets the family

Ephemer and Agapios are parallels for this but are also just similar kinds of people in general—bright, strong, and selfless to a fault

Charis also acts as a literal guide for Ephemer, strong enough to break though the clouds of his despair…and through the gutter/frame separating them 😌
