ok so the fragrance manufacturer agilex blends scents for a LOT of distributor companies; they produce industrial barrels-worth of fragrance oils, and the companies package and sell them under their own branding. This isnt to say they're just slapping a label on the scents- these are custom blends produced specifically for each company, developed after extensive testing and back-and-forth negotiations, and some of these fragrances have been established bestsellers for a decade or more.
sometime last year, agilex stopped delivering orders. if i'm remembering correctly, they were moving one factory site to a larger plant or something, and the suppliers had stocked up in anticipation of this AND put in orders to carry them through the downtime. these orders would be fulfilled mostly before the move, with maybe a few scents needing to be backordered for a couple months.
well what happened was that the 'we will have these delivered by december' turned into january turned into march turned into 'we are not returning phone calls or emails' and 'we are not allowing you to cancel these tens of thousands of dollars worth of unfilled orders with no ETA'.
now the issue is that these are longstanding, bestselling scents. if youre a supply company, youre getting roughly one william emails every day asking when a scent is going to be back in stock because show season is fucking coming and oh my god i cant not have blueberry muffin or coffee or coconut or apple pie and its been months since they've been in stock????
yesterday i was yapping at my nearest physical supplier while picking up wax n stuff, and she told me that they ARE in fact producing fragrance oils, but as soon as they get the materials in, they make fragrances for their sister company first, and only then use whatever is left to make oils to trickle down to the outstanding orders.
she also told me that once they either are able to cancel the order OR finally get the scents in, they're dropping that company and are already in testing phase to replace all of the aglex scents with scents from other manufacturers. and this is the second large scale supplier who has openly said they're breaking with them (that I know of.)
its a fucking mess and the smelly world is shaken and big shifts are occurring and like who would even know
you people dont even know about the vicious drama involving a massive fragrance oil manufacturer that supplies TONS of distributors. its been going on since like november and theyre not even picking up phone calls and refuse to let anyone cancel their orders

Intel Eyes AI Applications for Its Programmable Chip Unit Altera - Technology Org
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/intel-eyes-ai-applications-for-its-programmable-chip-unit-altera-technology-org/
Intel Eyes AI Applications for Its Programmable Chip Unit Altera - Technology Org
Intel has high hopes in the field of artificial intelligence for its recently established standalone programmable chip unit Altera.
Microchips and electronic components on a PCB board – illustrative photo. Image credit: Chris Ried via Unsplash, free license
The unit, known officially as “Altera, an Intel company,” became independent at the beginning of the year. Experts highlight the versatility of the programmable FPGA chips designed by Altera, emphasizing their utility in AI applications and computing tasks that lie between specialized processors developed by cloud computing giants like Amazon and general-purpose AI chips produced by Nvidia.
As the hardware landscape for AI evolves, CEO Sandra Rivera sees programmable chips occupying a significant and expanding niche market. The parent company, Intel, intends to conduct a stock offering for Altera within the next two to three years.
The market estimation for programmable chips in 2023 ranged from $8 to $10 billion, though the exact potential remains uncertain due to a lack of comprehensive third-party data. Rivera believes the opportunity for programmable chips is more extensive than commonly acknowledged, attributing this to the myriad ways these chips assist in various stages of the AI workflow.
Intel’s current line of programmable chips, Agilex, is manufactured by Intel Foundry, the company’s contract manufacturing arm.
Rivera did not disclose whether Intel Foundry would produce the upcoming Agilex 3 chips, but she hinted at favorable treatment for the company’s business units, potentially receiving a “friends and family discount” based on their volumes. An Intel spokesperson later clarified that Intel Foundry’s customers may receive advantageous pricing depending on anticipated volumes, with Intel business units being the largest customer(s) of Intel Foundry at present.
