You know what? Real talk, If Charles really could not attack after the pit stop like he is saying bc of tire degradation (he did have to go through half the grid after that pit stop) then I am happy there were team orders. Because if charles attacked with tires that were not doing OK and he lost against Carlos on 7 lap newer tires who have not seen an overtake the discourse of Carlos winning wheel to wheel would have been horrendous. It would have been worse than it will be now.

I am not undermining charles or anything. I think he didn't attack not because of the team orders but by his own decision. I think he would have attacked if he had a better grip on his tires. I think the grandiosity of Charles as a driver is exactly in the fact that he can read the situation and feel his car. Feel what he can and cannot do with the car. If the car felt like it could not pass Carlos in that moment I trust Charles that it is true. Any other driver in his position would have gone for it (cough Russel cough). He attacked in Monza but it was the last laps and he essentially had nothing to lose that year. This year he is in a fight with red bull and it was the beginning of the race so burning his tyres even more on a useless overtake would have put him in danger against the mclarens much faster.

If you think about it this was some brilliant management and decision making on Charles side. I am still his fan (shocker!!!) And I still love him to death and I think he made all the right choices today.

I don't know how to put this eloquently but stop being afraid of using the word fat. It's telling when people are like "no no no [character] isn't fat they're chubby!" It's the same thing. That character is still fat. You're just making it more "appealing" with a cuter word because fat has been demonized for ages now. If you're afraid to use the word fat to describe a character being fat then frankly I'm going to be wary around you.

Trust me, I eat those interpretations UP about morro however I feel like SOME (very important word of the day) people go out their way to excuse all that he did and just make him to be this TOTALLY INNOCENT GUY who DEFINITELY did NOT mean to do what he did and he's just a little blorbo scrubby skrunkly with sad backstory :((

In my opinion (emphasis on the MY part) I don't think the series gave him enough time to actually fully redeem his character at all so trying to make these excuses and interpretations just to justify what he did is kind of weird. But trust me i really do appreciate and love how yall manage to come up with these ideas and theories from how little we got of morros backstory.

Now I'm not saying that people CAN'T have their little headcanons and stuff about morro, like I said before I EAT THOSE UP EVERYTIME. All im saying is, not every villian has to have this terrible backstory to excuse all of their actions. Let morro just be a brat who kind of...?? Redeemed himself...?? Sorta...??? Idk I mostly put blame to the writers at that time writing season 5 and also day of the departed.

okay. i need to rewatch the episode probably but i think my current feeling is that i like most of it a lot (rome, ken, the siblings not getting ceo, etc), think the tom ceo makes sense from a logical/character perspective but not sure how i feel about it from a broader more thematic lens (altho i'm leaning towards fine with it), and am very mixed on shiv's ending because i think it's well-conceived and meaningful from a broader thematic lens (shiv becomes her mother, the cycle always repeats, etc) but doesn't quite make sense to me from a logical/character one -- it could've worked, it could've worked brilliantly, but it was far too rushed and forced. it makes sense as an ending for shiv, but not her next step. i'm largely talking about her decision to return to tom, not her decision to vote against kendall (which i think should've been executed better and given more space but can understand given her character, mostly). i'm fine with it as an ending for shiv, but what i'm struggling to stomach is the way it played out -- it didn't feel like a choice the shiv we know would've made. it's an ending that makes sense thematically and for her character arc, but not a decision that makes sense for her character at present. that's kinda where i'm at right now

i somehow completely forgot about this so this ask made me try to recall everything i ever knew about the vy'keen. THANK GOD i have like every piece of nms lore locally on my laptop. okay now to the vy'keen lore bc i've got some thoughts on this.

the vy'keen being originally prey brings another layer to their weirdly deep lore iceberg. i'm calling it weird because i think their lore is more based on implications of what is told (?) hence why people tend to overlook them.

i do think it's very interesting how fear is a major aspect of their ideology, and how largely it's connected to their aggression. You'd think that fear would be highly looked down upon in vy'keen society, but fear seems to be in fact their prime motivation, fuel and cause for being aggressive. They've made a weakness into their strength. this is rather oxymoronic, and it's not the only oxymoron related to the vy'keen. there is a second one (and you're the one who told me about this!): they're militant pacifists. now i guess you can call them fear-strengthened as well.

i remember the armorer having a raw quote related to weakness, something of: 'you can be weak, but you cannot stay weak.' For a society that's based on hostility, that is some amazing advise right there.

also i just had a WILD realization. humans are actually quite similar to the vy'keen. it's even safe to say that out of all the races, they're the most alike. hear me out: humans were once prey too in prehistoric times, and it was through cultivation of technology (or weapons!!) that they got elevated to the top of a figurative food chain. and the fact that human history is literally littered with war. Now this is making me wonder what the vy'keen exactly do with their aggression, like do they wage war the same way humans do or is there a difference in motivations? like what's their key goal for war.

all of this is proof for why the vy'keen is highly underrated. maybe one day i'll write something to spread the good word of the vy'keen.

I find it interesting that people are very against the various streaming companies that are nuking content off of their platforms, thereby erasing them and forcing you to use extra-legal means of watching them, but yet they’ll accept and even go as far as to praise other companies for doing the same, justifying it as “because someone in the content was later found to be a bad person, and this somehow justifies removing the content in its entirety”.

Could you even imagine how little content would still exist if we nuked everything that has ever had someone in it who was later found to have said something racist, or sexist, or homophobic, or beaten their spouse, or raped someone, or killed someone, or committed tax evasion, or fraud, or literally any bad thing ever in their whole life?

Unless the content in question is of said-crime, there is never a reason to delete content, ever. If you’re making something to be consumed by the public, then it belongs to the public, plain and simple. Laws be damned, I’m talking ethically or morally here. I don’t care what the reason really. As long as everyone in the content willingly signed on to be in the content, knowing it would be shared to the public for their consumption, then I don’t see any issue with it whatsoever.

It doesn’t matter if it’s owned by some big streaming corporation, or whether it’s owned by some nobody YouTuber. “For public consumption” should remain public.

i never heard anyone say he was not a great artist. no one doubted that. people only questioned whether he was the right guy for the job, only having experience as a singer, a perfomer, no matter how renowned. or rather, the main issue was - how much, having no experience in the position he now occupied, he was earning. because that really was an insane (and i mean. INSANE) amount of money.

Ołdakowska getting the job of the director was also a pretty controversial thing, so automatically, people who weren't in favour of her winning, didn't also like Kwiecień since she was the one who chose him for the job.

then there was the issue of the changes Mariusz wanted to make. he was in favour of promoting young, new singers and hiring big names for guest performances, ergo, many of the singers who had already been hired full-time for years by the opera house in Wrocław stopped getting big roles etc. no roles - no money (or rather, very little money, the bare minimum actually). this, coupled with the amount Kwiecień was earning... well.

he and Ołdakowska also promised Big Things but sadly they both got the jobs in the beginning of 2020 and we all know what happened then, not much could actually be done when the entire world was more or less paralysed by the pandemic.

and yeah, that's more or less it. id say, tl;dr in the end it's always all about money. and some personal beef he may or may not have had with some people, i really can't say cause that's all i know.
